Hi, I know there aren't many from Singapore here but I'd like to share what is working for me as some are having really bad data down (300 kbps). As SG is a small place, our HD2 should all be similar (unless you got it from overseas).
ROM: Chuckydroid Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238&highlight=chuckydroid
Radio:
2.11.50.26 is most reliable for me. Constant H signal, full bars steady.
2.10 radio works as well but tends to switch to G -3G- H a lot. That alone drains a lot of power I believe.
Android: Shubcraft 1.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740963
Kernel:
I'm using the file: Build_n.7z
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756513
What's not working or not working well:
- Wifi not working.
- wifi/USB Tethering not working.
To solve this, I USB tether using EasyTether which you can get from Market.
- Screen freeze.
Settings > Display > Turn off Auto-rotate screen.
I can't get G sensor to work on any build without freezing my screen.
- MMS might or might not work.
Truth be told, I'm not bothered by it.
- Blue tooth: I don't use so never tested.
What's working?
Pretty much everything else.
My biggest concern really is data speed and reliability. With the builds i listed above, I get very consistent data down. Up isn't so great but I download more than I upload so it works for my needs. You might get disconnected 2-3 times per work day but I consider that reliable enough as my daily work phone.

If you want a build that works well with good consistent data, working MMS and working Wifi, use:
SHUBCRAFT 1.4d
replace with zImage dated 24 Aug 2010
Phone setting:
*#*#4636#*#* > Set preferred network type > GSM Auto (PRL)
The default is WCDMA preferred.
Battery uptime:
Isn't great but can get about 4hr hours of constant screen on @ 75% bright, installing apps, browsing, general tasks. Moderate use will get me from 7 am - 10 pm daily.
Try it out and hope it works for you.
Hi,
I'm also from singapore and i'm using stock rom (1.66.707.1), radio 2.12.50.02_2.
My android build is darkstone froyostone v2, changed my rootfs to the ppp one from mattc.
So far i got 1 restart, no SOD, data works, wifi works, g sensor hasn't had major issues.. Only thing is that it takes a while (1-2sec) to wake from sleep...
Data speed i can get more than 1mbps download and 200kbps upload, so far it hasn't really disconnected by itself.. On singtel btw.
cool . im also a starhub user. shall bookmark this page to discuss issues liao . im using 2.12 radio . haven tried 2.11 before . hows 2.11 compared to 2.12 ? as for me , i previosly had alot of problem with hsdpa as well. kept dc . unntil in windows i change network to gsm 1800 900 from auto . in Android, i use wcdma only . haha . think my settings is kinda of weird . i shall try urs and see how
hi,
i am in singapore but i dont use 3G/HSDPA. I am just using wifi and works well. now in shubcraft 1.5, radios 2.10.50 and have a few issue
- low volume ( though i have set to max )
- where is the FM radio ?
- compass is pointing to the wrong direction :-(
- laggy and battery goes flat very fast
i have changed my winmo to chuckyROM.
regards
Ok, I'm a fellow Singaporean as well, totally reflashing and flashing my phone until I have no idea whats really inside..
I have the Latest Artemis installed, and 3 flavours of android installed, yeah bad idea, but I'm testing out which is better..
So far Darkstone works the best, with Wifi, bluetooth and everything else, hey what happened to the FM Radio? lol..
Battery life is "Jia Lat". Watch the meter drop like a Porche stuch in Orchard Road, one vroom 50Cents.. lol..
I'm thinking of organizing a gathering for ourselves, just sit down have a drink and discuss a little on our findings.. who's keen?

wow many singaporeans here. I am using Mattc Leo's Froyo w/sense.
Works great. Everything is working for me except for occasional touchscreen freezes which occurs very seldom. It will just go away after locking and unlocking my screen.
Wifi is working for me. My G sensor is on too.
I'm a fellow Singaporean, using STOCK HyperDroidV1.2 with 2.12 radio.
Wifi is working well, volume is ok.
No major issues other than the slow wake up from sleep
3G/HSDPA is inconsistent, sometimes it work, sometime it doesn't.
The only major gripe about my android experience so far is the battery life. With normal usage, smses every now and then, my phone can hardly last a day.
Hi, from Singapore too. I gave up on android on my HD2 cuz' I can't even boot up with chuckyrom.
Ran haret and booted to the lockscreen only to have the phone reset.
I have since gotten a galaxy S for free, so getting my droidfix there.
Is there a singapore HD2 radio thread anyone can point me to?
YEAH! Stand up for singapore, do the best we can!!!
Hi, i am a singaporean too.
Currently using HyperDroid 1.5, best ROM atm since shu8i didnt update shubcraft anymore.
After testing out so many builds by developers, ppp and RMNET doesnt make much of a difference for us. I am getting 200-300 kb/sec download and 10-30 kb/sec upload on average.
What i am concerned is the battery, suck so badly. Screen so big, phone so big, use only a 1230 mAh battery, facepalmed.
aye, sporean here too...on singtel tho haha. tried shubcraft 1.5 before but found it to be a bit more buggy, having probs installing apps onto phone
but gotta admit does look nicer. sticking with bangsters 1.3 for now with chuckydroid. on radio 2.11.50.20. apps have no more problem installing.
battery drain on standby is quite jialat, wake up almost 8-10% gone. but i find that using it on the move occassionally for twitter, fb, surfing, searching and stuff consumes much less than winmo compared. was with dutty's and elegancia's gtx previously.
don't ever think i'm going back to winmo for now until wp7 gets ported. haha.
Aye aye so many singaporean lah.wow did not know leh.
i now testing mdeejay_froyo_sense_v2.1a_ppp version.Previously using FroyoStone.
Somehow i find android very lag compared to WM6. I tried others also very lag. rest no problem
Tried darkstones' but I think its bugged and laggy, tried HyperDroid and feels that its the most stable and fastest rom out there.
Wow so many singaporen here...suprisely. Using chuckyrom and shubcraft 1.5 with starhub. All working well and only problem face is i cannot surf in facebook and gmail using starhub line. If with home wifi then working fine. M'sia but in and out sg everyday.

Hey i had the same issue with my Bangster when I was on Chuckydroid.. sometimes my audio just disappears. Now, I switched to Ozroid (since I am not using WM any more), Audio is perfect, does not drop off anymore and app installation all works except Flight Director the game for some strange reason, all others work! lol..
When my screen freezes, I press the Window button, and it resumes.
When it sleeps, quite rare it can't come back. If it does decide not to come back, I press the Window button , back arrow and power it comes back.
I am getting about 2% drain on standby mode
Hi bjkoh, how's ya sg members recuiting? count me in too

I've still got the ROM the TD2 shipped with. Do the newer Radio ROMs actually improve 3G reception? Or do they just "tidy things up" (improve stability, make the signal indicator reading higher etc).
I'm trying to improve reception, specifically audio streaming, in weak signal areas, and wondered if sensitivity, seamless cell to cell handover etc have been improved. I can't find the definitive answer in the ROM development section.
I have not noticed much difference with 3g using different radio, but using the latest radio does give me much improved GPS reception and a slight increase in battery performance (5%)
Thanks, I suspected that might be the case.
Good that the GPS has improved. Actually I don't have a problem with GPS sensitivity, it's pretty good. But Google Maps still doesn't always want to start it, I have to use another program first. Strange!
i'm still using the original rom and radio. It works perfect so i don't need any other roms and radios. BUT i'm waiting for the official 6.5
I can answer my question now. Finally took the plunge, did Hard-SPL and installed Topaz_Radio_4.47.25.21.
It's definitely better than the stock radio as far as 3G reception is concerned. The improvements are:
a) better performance in weak signal areas. This doesn't show in the number of signal bars, which stays the same. But, you now get data even with no bars showing, and the speed is better all round too.
b) Cell changeover is much quicker. When signal is too low, it shows "no signal" straight away and reacquires it equally quickly. Before, it could take 20-30 seconds sometimes.
So, anyone streaming internet radio or downloading large files whilst on the move will get far better results. I was able to continuously listen to radio going through areas I couldn't even get a data link before.
If you're just web browsing, it'll be a quicker experience in weak signal areas. Highly recommended.
I didn't notice as much improvement to the GPS as other people's experiences suggested. It acquires satellites from a "cold start" a bit quicker, but still takes much longer than the proper stand-alone GPS units do. Still, at least it doesn't "hang" for several minutes as it sometimes did before when it hadn't been used for several days.
I don't get this. Can I upgrade the radio without upgrading the ROM and do I need HardSPL?
Also, sounds like it's impossible to know what the best radio is for where I live?
Yes and yes. You can upgrade the radio alone. If you don't HardSPL first your TD2 won't accept the new Radio ROM (or any other ROMs except HTC's official one for your phone). Once you're done, only the radio drivers (GSM, 3G, wifi, and GPS) will be upgraded, your "main" ROM won't be touched.
All details are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547276
As a general rule, the newer the Radio ROM the better it will be as more bugs have been ironed out, wherever you live. If, though, some aspect is worse, you can always "downgrade" to a different one by the same means. Check your present version from the boot-up screen.
Thanks Pete!

I tried the latest ROM tonight (4.49.25.17). It was OK, but no better 3G reception. Bit of a "con" actually, because the signal meter stayed at 4 bars a lot more, but in a weak signal area it drooped to no bars just as quickly! They've just been fiddling with the meter curve so it looks more impressive. In fact, I had trouble keeping an internet radio stream going, so I've gone back to your recommendation this time (4.47.25.31).
I could get a bit bored of this Radio ROM testing soon...
Seems like 4.49.25.17 is the best radio of all !!
Everyone is flashing this radio and getting full bars signal, great call quality and fast gps lock (including me) !!!

i have had radio 4.47.25.21 on since yesterday and again found it lost signal really easily similar to 4.48.25.13
am now going back to 4.47.25.31 which is the best of the ones i have tried.

Yes, that's because they adjusted the bars so people wouldn't complain any more. See hermes77 report here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547276&page=28. This is what I suspected, because on weak signals it's exactly the same.
@hali39: I don't find a difference so far between 4.47.25.21 and 4.47.25.31, at least as far as 3G reception goes. Biggest problem is t-mobile. Every month that goes by it gets worse. I used to download the occasional large file from rapidshare on 3G, I wouldn't dream of that now

Well, i'm very happy with 4.49.25.17 !!
GPS signal locks on 3-10 seconds and stays very good even arround buildings !!
Call quality is also great...
Using Radio 4.49.25.17 on T-Mobile MDA Compact V German.
WiFi is connected within 2-4 sec, also GPS is faster. 3G is at max signal strength (was 3/4 before with original 3.43.25.19).
Used it heavily last days with Tom's Leo R2 ROM, no probs.

Hi thanks for the input. I stay in India and just flashed the Radio to 4.49.25.17 (was: 3.43.25.19) and looks like all Good here . Will continue testing and will let you know too...
Not wishing to "bump" my own thread, just reporting I've gone back to the original stock ROM for reasons of seemingly greater compatibility with T-mobile in the UK regarding data continuity between cells. Longer (yawn!) report here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547276&page=38
Can someone please explain how to update the radio. I have installed the latest HardSPL and I downloaded Topaz_Radio_4.49.25.17.exe. The thread says "Rename radio to TOPAIMG.nbh, copy to your SD-Card, go to bootloader (Reset with VolumeDown pressed)". However, this is an executable file that runs on the PC. And when I run it, it wants to change the image version from 1.40.110.1 to 1.00.000.0. This looks to be an earlier version of something that is not the radio, so I got the willies and cancelled. What do I do?
You can use the .exe file to update your radio using USB. The version number refers to the non-existant main ROM file and not the Radio so whilst it's misleading, it does work fine. I did it last week.
If you want to update using the SD Card then you need to extract the nbh file from the .exe using WinRAR, or your favourite compressed file unpacker. Then it is that file that is renamed for placing on the SD Card.

Thanks again John. I have upgraded now. I had a few worries, though. The process stopped on the PC saying "ERROR[260]: CONNECTION", warning me that the usb cable was not connected. However, a couple of minutes later, the phone reported "Update Complete". I rebooted the phone and it loaded OK.
Ok I have a T-Mobile HD2 running on a GTX ROM and the Desire V5 build of Android. If I use the 7.18 Version of the zimage I do not get SOD but when I use 7.25 I get SOD. I just wanted to know what ROMS you guys are using that arent giving the SOD and if anyone has found a temp fix out there. I tried searching but no luck. 7.23 version works perfect with no SOD. Only get issues with 7.25 version.
Thanks

Bumping this thread.
Lets get this going.
I get SoD on all Android builds. I have tried Chucky, Chucky Droid and now Elegencia. My radio is 210.50.26 TMO-USA.
I have a a class 2 SD card and have found that I get minimal SoD's while plugged in and charging. As soon as I take it off, within a couple minutes it's dead.
My wimo settings are all set to off.
I have tried everything save for a new SD card. I would like to get some info from those who are not getting SoD about what roms and radio versions they're running.
To clarify, does SoD refer to the phone not being able to wake up from sleep mode? If so, I have this problem as well and am looking for a fix.

Hello,
Yes that is SoD. Some users report not having it at all. Some say they get it with certain zimages.
I have the latest zimage and such and I still experience the dreaded SoD.
There was some talk of it being the Sharpe pannel in the US TMO based Leo, though I am not entirely convinced.
Although not very helpful. Just my experience and observation, could be nothing. I tried all the Roms for my HD2, the Only one I have NOT had a issue with SOD is Darkstone. Not once... the one that was close was "dan" rom. It booted, after the first 2 minutes I had a call, finished the call and it never woke up. Pulled the battery, and figured I would delay the time before the next SOD so I could finish some app downloads. I changed the time out to 2 minutes and shut the lock sound off. After that it woke up everytime. I uninstalled because of other reasons... Like I said, may be nothing but coincidence, but I have noticed a serious delay with the lock sound even on Darkstone. I am happy as could be with it though. Lock sound is off.

i am in the same situation as u as well except that i am not using a T-MO HD2..
i'm also using a Class 2 SD card which came with my phone and i have SODs in ALL BUILDS of android... which is irritating to say the least.. i wonder if it is due to the slower Class 2 SD card which is causing the SODs?
can any devs working on android for hd2 share what they feel is the reason behind SODs so we can get an idea of what is the cause of SODs?
Settings, Display, Screen Timeout. I have mine set at 2 minutes, but I mostly just shut the screen down manually when I put the phone down. The lock sound can be disabled under Settings, Sounds.

I have seen a lot of people suggest that their faster cards are the reasons they're not getting SoD's but I don't want to spend the 40 dollars only to still get SoD's.
I have also found that it doesn't matter what I set my screen time outs to. It still does it after about 10 seconds.

if the reason for no SOD is speed class of SD card, then all i can do is wait for a NAND flash of android before i come back here.. and i am pretty sure it is the SD card which is causing problems since my phone is very new, and i have not drop it nor damage it in any way..
the only other reasonable reason would be that the hd2s in different places uses slightly different parts in the hardware which works similarly under winmo, but is slightly different in the android environment, slightly like the PSPs... ?

u can try this. install ChuckyDroidRom with Radio 2.12.50.02_2
Mattleo 1.4 android rom and install SetCpu - you shouldnt get SOd anymore.
Just read about SetCpu and the setup for it.
Some of the fixes that has been posted
1. Reformat your sd card (fat 32). I never tried it but I tried defragmenting the card and it seemed to help for a bit, it came back later though but I was goofing around a lot - I had 4 different builds loaded at one time
2. After you get a SOD and reset/restart back into android, delete the recovered file scraps in your root directory or in LOST.DIR; use the power button to power off or reboot android. When you get back to android again it supposedly fixes it.
I would recommend trying 2 first since it's easier. If it doesn't fix it try #1.

i did both..
still got SODs if i leave the phone alone for too long..
its like the phone sleeps, and does not want to wake up any more no matter what i do if i let the phone sleep too long.. im really starting to think that the speed of the sd card is the cause of these SODs.. mine is a class 2 stock 8gb SD card..
One thing that i believe helps, is disabling the sleep if not used to 30 sec, option in winmo. Could just be my imagination, but each time i disabled that, it either got rid of SoD or helped immensely with the frequency.

how can i do that if i am using chuckydroid rom for booting android? it is very stripped down and has very little function as a winmo os..
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
in addition, i would like to add that i think i have found a way to overcome the SOD (at least for now for me), hopefully, it will continue to work as i have not have any SODs since i tried what i did..
this is what u need to do:
reformat ur SD card but before u click the format button, change the allocation size from the setting u see, to the largest possible...

after u format ur SD card, only copy in the Android boot file of the android of ur choice..
next up, prepare the phone by doing task 29, flashing a 2.08 and above radio.. i am using 2.12.50.02.2 radio from ( http://vbnfiles.com/HD2 Common/Radios/Radio_2_12_50_02_2.rar )
then, install chucky rom lite for android booting ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238 )
next, start up the phone and do a hard reset without the SD card inside..!
after the hard reset, boot back into winmo and change the date and time settings..
off the phone..
insert the SD card then on the phone..
run android and set up froyo..
hopefully it stops the SODs for good..
so far so good for me, its 2 hrs, and i've not have SODs.. previously the longest time b4 SOD hit me was 35 mins..

I use chuckyrom too. Just don't let android boot yet, once in winmo..
start > settings > system > power....then once in power its under one of the tabs, can't remember fully, it says something like "Turn off screen if phone is not in use for: [drop box]
I just uncheck it fully.
Also i think with this newest zimg (8/03) the sod came back, just not as prominent as 7/25 or pre 7/23. When i had the 7/23 zimg, i -never- had sod, but here recently with 8/03 it's come back a bit, not too much though.

alright... will give it a shot later.. still trying all sorts of things to see if a SOD will come out after what i did above which rectified the SOD problem that has plagued me..
about the zImages, i cant comment since previously, no matter which build, winmo ROM, radio and zImages, i had SODs regardless of the combinations..
Mattc 1.4 on top of chunkyDroidRom for about 2 days with no problems no sod.

radio 2.12.50.26
On tmous hd2 with class 2 SDcard.
Haven't had any problems so I haven't installed setcpu.
I just switched to Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2 coming from Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.26 and it has stopped my SoD for the time being. Using [shubCRAFT CM6RC2/Froyo/Themed V1.1]
After many attempts, i have found the best combination of rom, radio, android, and phone settings so my hd2 t-mobile now can last 40-50 hours from single charge.
1. Energy rom without addons on home screen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8640264&postcount=3
2. Mccm se V3.4 version for Android (with r8.5.1_eb kernel)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?
p=9241013&postcount=2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787588
3. Radio 2.12.50.02_2
4. Exceller Multiple Build Loader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737001
5. Set wm in airplane mode, and turn off auto sync, background data and location in android, brightness to minimum
6. Use wifi, gps, mobile data or bluetooth only when needed
7. Install SetCPU and use settings from tihs page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734886
8. Use widget taskkiller every time before locking the phone.
With this settings my phone can last around 50 hours with single charge, and i use it for sending messages, calling, browsing over wifi and occasionally playing angry birds.
This represents moderate use for me, and it is enough for my daily use, but if you want something more buy spare battery
Warning: I own hd2 t-mobile version, so this combination maybe doesn't work on your phone, or maybe it's not compatible with your hd2!
Please check radio and rom compatibility before flashing!

i believe you that your phone lasts more than 40 hours, but not everyone wants to disable auto sync, location and look onto such a beatiful huge screen which is almost dark
i prefer daily charge (lasts about 24h) with all the benefits which a smartphone has!
thx anyway for sharing your setup. it might help a lot of people.

Looks like Battery Indicator, free version available on the Market.
PS: Do you have an extended battery? (since 8.5.1_eb is for extended batteries)
No, I use 1200mah battery, hd2 stock battery.
And yes, it's battery indicator app, but it came preinstalled in my version of android.
all things that make it a smartphone, are off.

Well guys use your phone as you want, no need to be sarcastic, maybe this will help to someone!
Maybe i would use data plan as well but it is just too expensive on my network, so i use my phone diferently than you
so... sorry to possibly hijack Your thread a bit my dear OP, but can You tell me my friends, how long can Your leo survive constant net usage? my standby drain is great, however when browsing with wifi or 3g, hd2 will live for about 4 - 5 hrs at most (well... let's call it a total net usage, as I've never had time to discharge it in one go... ).
is it more or less what You get? am I overreacting a bit??
My ROM and Android Version is not the newest and I did not look of the combination I installed, so I might have a rubbish setup. But atm. I can't get over the day with browsing, lessening music, data connection and a few calls and mails. Normally I run WM at daytime and after work I switch to Android.
Do you guys get over the day with a normal usage (like 16h), or do I expect to much??
I will try and let you know ;-)

well... if I use it lightly (some web browsing, quite a few calls and txts, some email, etc.) then it will even last two days (less than 1% batt usage per hour in standby), however if I'll use net heavily, gps, gaming then combined use will be only about 4 - 6 hours.
I am changing radio from 2.14 to 2.15 in about an hour to check if it's going to be any difference.
my setup is: stock wwe 1.66 rom, android rom is froyostone 3.2 sense with hastarin kernel 8.5.1 and letama's patches.
[EDIT]
to stay on topic - I have setup as above, auto brightness, data connections enabled manually when needed. with "dumb phone" usage (texting, calling, some notes, calculations, calendar use, etc.) plus some light browsing I had 50% of batt left after all day yesterday. (unplugged @7am, 50% @9pm)

i get on average 48-55 hours with out diableing background, wifi and gps on alll the time. syncs 8 diferent email accounts every hour + the gmail is pushed .
ie: i use it as a smart phone.
worst i got was about 35 hours, kids were playing angry birds non stop...
Using the latest DarkStone and Hastarin 8.5.1oldcam, having auto killing tasks that I don't use, and setCPU at 1.07 Ghz I can last all day.
My first run on Android with my HD2 battery was terrible. but the new Kernel, and using the EB autoboot made battery totally improve, but still worse than my Nexus One. I have sync, and GPS disabled, Email updates only every hour, Twitter every 2 hours. and mine usually has around 60% left after work at 6PM, and It's fully charged and gets unplugged at 9:30 every morning.. so 8 hours and it's almost halfway gone, but when I'm not at work it lasts longer, cuz at work I constantly loose 3G, and get it back and it's constantly switching. I try to set to 2G while at work if I don't need 3G.
I change it on the way home, and use it the rest of the night.. no worries for me.
so I've been using this nexus one rom for a long time now, always worked...but since a short period of time the battary has been draining rapidly, with rapidly i mean when im at school for 6hours i rarely use my phone and at the end of the 6hours(from 100%) its already on 9 or less % of battery....which is not so nice to say at least!
my rom I'm using from settings-->about this phone: android version 2.3.3
kernal-version 2.6.32.15_r9-gdfb339
build number : GRI40 (nexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.6 NAND)

Yes you need to update your ROM, it's quite outdated now but I don't think that's the issue. What about your battery drain in Airplane mode? Use Current Widget and see how much ma battery drain it is, mine is 2ma on airplane mode, 4ma with data and phone on, and 5-7ma with Wifi on.
Also your battery may be at the end of it life - they don't last for ever
Do you leave BT, Wifi and internet always on? that will produce the effects you are reporting on a battery past its best - or a cheap poor quality replacement (he says from bitter experience)
not about the battery..i have a new one, does the same thing
ill download the app you told me about and see how and what thanks

No, you need to lock the phone then give the reading when the phone has just been unlocked. This will show your battery drain on standby. With screen on the drain you have is very good actually. I think your issue may be battery calibration, search on the forums for how to do this.
i downloaded that app batterycalibration and i put my batt too 100%, pressed calibrate and pulled the loader out, its taking ages cus im not using my phone, currently its on 65% but i hope this will solve my problem!
ok it has been drained too 0% and went off....now what? i justr started it up again..shall i delete the app or what..?
Do you have any apps that are doing a frequent sync cycle that you may not be aware of? Facebook and Twitter come to mind. Have you also tried to go to the hidden phone feature screen and select GSM Auto PRL for your phone? Using the default WCDMA Preferred uses more battery in standby. Go to your phone screen and type *#*#4636#*#* and then a Testing Page will come up. Go to Phone information and look under Set preferred network type: and select GSM auto (PRL). I am using a two year old battery, Tytung's NexusHD2 v3.2 kernel r13 ROM with WiFi on, Bluetooth off, GPS off using the GSM auto PRL setting and just got 6% battery drain over 9 hours on standby for comparison.
Please have a look....
Hi,

But getting good standby battery life....
Maximum Standby Battery life I got was 19 hrs.
Please install SetCPU and Juice Defender.

It shouldn't. By 'internet' could you please specify? Do you mean that WiFi isn't working, Mobile Data isn't working or the actual Browser app isn't working? Also, I assume you've tried checking in the settings that you didn't accidentally disable data?
Hi guys, just a quick question.
Which Windows phone 7.5 mango rom is best on battery life?
I'm currently using Pdaimatejams V8 VERSION of his wp7.5 rom, and the battery life on that is terrible. 8:30am to 1pm and battery is dead .
Advice on this would be nice as these roms are huge and take ages to download, so manually checking one by one would take years.
Regards,
Not as simple as that mate, they are all more or less the same ROM.
you have the defunct BTTF line which was complicated but by far the best overall ROM with the least problems
then you have Ultrafruit Clones
the really killer on battery life comes from the radio your using and any live tiles, also BT and Wifi can kill it pretty quick too.
in short try the 2.12 hardware radio ROM and the 51t software radio, the hardware radio can be flashed whenever but the software must be installed when you flash the initial ROM.
With those you can also try the camera trick, which is tap the camera button, put it in to video mode, let it auto focus then tap the home button.
its thought that for some reason the camera doesn't stop focusing or something like that unless you do the above, loading up the camera again will mean you need to reapply the fix
anyhow, so make sure you have no background tiles killing you, your running those radios, and you have done the camera trick, all with BT and wifi off as much as possible, and it will last a day with heavy use.

Right thanks for the tips! I had 4 live tiles, moved them.
Although i'm not quite sure what you meant by the camera trick?
Say i've done a fresh boot of the phone and not opened the camera app since, will that affect the battery life?
What's the camera trick meant to do exactly and how does it increase battery life?
Thanks for your response though!

well you need to remember that this phone was only a test phone for WP7, it never had proper drivers made for it, hence some of the issues.
if you have the 51T soft radio then you can do the "camera trick"
I don't think there is any real answer (feel free to correct me folks!) to this other than guessing but I think it goes along the lines of, the camera even when off or not even ran that session can continue to focus, which eats up the battery, its like leaving the camera on. by opening the camera, then turning to video mode, then let it focus and finally tapping the home button, it seems to dramatically reduce the discharge rate, in some cases to as low as 2-5mA
Now to be honest that sounds very low, but I guess if you turn everything off and live in a good signal strength area you may get that., ive not had it lower than 10mA, before the trick it could use anything from 30mA - 80mA for some reason it can jump up to 300mA, this is all in standby mode, putting the screen on with it set to high will zap your battery, the backlight settings are next to useless as well so its worth turning off the backlight if you can. I think the choices are, Burn your eyeballs out, wheres my sunglasses and finally Off, auto doesn't work.

battery life is subjective...it depends on the types of apps you have installed, their use of wireless services, your personal usage habits, etc.
Yea we already established that, but what is not clear is why it can go on a melt down and drain the battery very quickly for no apparent reason one day to the next. My theory on that is that ita not fully charged. IE. its half full but reporting full, thus it may appear to drain twice as fast

what day to day melt down? he only described one day's battery life of 6 hrs of use. 6hrs is not a meltdown.
it's an issue with the rom. if you READ the v8 rom thread, the v8 rom has lots of power issues. i've read many posts complaining about the poor battery life.

I see you've not change in the months since our last encounter.
Im running the V8 as I have been running just about all his updates and there are many, as well as HD2s, xbmods and even the Ultrafruit original that this comes from, the issues are the same on all of them. But If you care to read and follow all the information available in here you will see that its quite common for the HD2 running WP to draw ~300mA in standby, that its a huge amount of power to draw when its off and would empty the battery in 4 hours, without even using it.
when it comes to battery life, nothing is clear, however we do know that it doesn't always charge the battery fully, we do know that it can incorrectly report the available charge, we do know what despite devices using identical ROMs some folk can get <7mA in standby, others get >300mA in standby.
In short its a mess.
If you have an external charger and spare battery use it, it will help with half the problem, high current usage can be down to several things and probably many more that we do not know about, all things being well, if you use your phone a lot, use an external charger, make sure you have good radios for your area installed including the 51T soft radio an then do the camera trick, you may get a working day out of it without issue.
Thats with a lot of usage, making calls, BT, excel, music, 2 email accounts set to push etc
