Hey guys pls try this tip for hd2 battery saving, change the charger with the same voltage of output 5v but of 400 or 500 ma instead of 1000 ma it will take more time to charge the battery but will take also less time to drain.
i am currently doing it and my leo gives me 2.5 days instead of 1 day.
pls send feedback
I don't understand how that will change how fast it depletes, surely the lower ma will just slow the charge?

The current Li-ion batteries don't need a slower charge to complete a charge-cyclus any better.
It'll just charge slower, but still drain as fast as if you would charge per 1000ma.
i mostly use my pc to charge as i usb tether, ive not noticed any difference in battery drain from when i use the mains charge, i also have a replacement charger which does multipole phonesonly rated at 500ma, again ive never noticed any difference in battery drain after charging with that

Sorry OP, you have misinformation and are spreading it.
The capacity of the battery is fixed. Let's say it's 1150 mah. If you charge it with a 500 mah charger or a 1000 mah (or 1A) charger, it can only fill up to 1150 mah.
It's like filling up a gas tank in your car. If you have a 20 gallon tank, you will only be able to put 20 gallons in there. Whether you squeeze the pump half way or all of the way, you aren't going to fit any more than 20 gallons of gas in there.
If you indeed got better battery life, its not from using a "less powerful" charger.
sadly theyr right theres no way slower charge equates to slower drain, ur ussage may have changed.. on a nother note try going in airplane mode when u know ull be hanging around an area with bad service or simply want to turn phone of without actually turning it off. ( THE PHONE uses more battery n resourses triying to find signal or switching from 3g to edge)
Lol physics. As others have posted changing the charger won't do anything but charge slower.

does the g2 battery take forever to charge?? lol i knoww i takess forever to discharge butt 5 mins per 1% charge seems a bitt too much......even though i amm o.c to 1.4 but i have it min at 2xxmhz and setting is ondeman so i doubt this could be an issue
are you using internet or led light or something like that while u charge?
I swear it takes a hour for me to get at least 60% or so. 2 hours is a full charge.
Using the A/c adapter that came with it charges much faster for me than using the usb port on the computer.

I second this, when using the A/C adapter I'm able to completely charge the phone from less than 5% battery in little over an hour.
A normal USB 2.0 port is the slowest, at 500 mAh. Read the fine print on your charger and look for "5v", following this will be a number between 500 and 1000 (1 amp)
The included chargers from HTC are always 1amp, and can charge the phone fully very quickly. Third party chargers (walmart, T-mob, etc..) are everywhere in between 500 - 1000.
Ok this is insane, I really charged my phone from 10pm to 6am and it was only on 64% on a house charger....I'm deff calling tmo and talkng to a manager to get a new phone since I got it from my cousin used

Alright, so I have the dx with the stock battery, stock wall charger, and my gf has a fascinate, stock battery and charger, and she swears my charger is worlds faster than hers even tried switching and mine seems considerably faster. Both plugged into the wall not usb. So far it seems it might be, could a few people post some average charge times for a full charge from near dead and indicate from what percentage battery was at. Just wondering cause she is contemplating buying an dx charger.

Higher the amperage of the charger = Faster charge. Just keep voltage the same.
My charger charges my friends evolution much quicker for this reason
yes, that was what I was thinking as well, but tonight I ran into a buddy in school for some sort of electronics degree (I forget exactly what) who said the different duty cycles may be the culprit.
How long the charger must rest after doing work, ie, if you have your charger plugged in, it may only be charging half the time if its duty cycle is 50% just used for an example). So even if the numbers match 5 volts and 850 mA, the charge times can radically differ if the duty cycle were to be 30%. Although he could be completely wrong.... as I said hes still in school...
While I feel that increasing amperage by switching chargers could be partially dangerous to the device, if the difference is Duty Cycle, thats kinda a different story. Perhaps it would indicate the high temperature while charging as it does not allow the phone to cool between cycles? just a guess.... any input? still would like to see some numbers on charge time. maybe some numbers on non oem chargers too?
Hello folks, I am very concerned with my HTC HD2 as it takes like over 4 hours to fully recharge the battery. I have got this HD2 from the market here on XDA and it works very good overall, except for this problem when recharging it. I thought it was the charger and I have tried many usb to wall chargers even the the iPhone's 4 one, but nothing has changed.
I have also tried several roms and kernels but nothing has changed on this side as well. I wiped everything and put back win mobile 6.5 T-mobile stock rom, but hey, no difference here too..
I am wondering if there might be something wrong with the phone itself or can it be the battery going in holiday???....
How can I figure this out???
I have downloaded Battery Doctor from the market and it says the battery is in good health, and I get up to 14 hours with a full charge with mytouch 4G rom and kernel rafpigna 1.7 cpu 1.3Ghz OC.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem ??? do you guys have any suggests ???
This problem is driving me really crazy...
Get a new battery, mine only takes 2 hours when completely dead.

Unfortunately it came with its original charger broken and I have never had the pleasure to try with it.. Anyways I am using a charger that has the same specs of the original one, which is the usb charger of the iPhone 4, and yea same result ...
I have downloaded currentwidget from the market and it gets less than 200mA of current in, when it usually should get around 400mA, sometimes the value goes down to 200mA as well, which makes me really wonder the problem might be the usb port of the phone .
Does a broken battery does that as well??

I think it has to do with the charger you're using . When I charge mine I usually see anything from 500+mA to 700+mA on my battery monitor widget depending on how much charge the battery has, and like Segnale007 said it usually takes about 2 hrs to fully charge.

I can't say it's the battery cause you say it lasts you 14 hours, usb port? maybe. Your battery is good for it to last that much (on averge usage of course). It's the different charger that you're using.

The charger I am using its the iphone 4 charger and just like the original one its a 100-240V ~ 0.2A 50-60HZ , which I have no idea about what it means, but I can guarantee u its the same ..
So, what charger do you suggest me to buy?? I wish it was everything except the phone ...

That's your issue there, 0.2A (aka 200mA).
The UK HD2 charger for example, is 1A (aka 1000mA).
To work out the maximum time it should take to charge the battery:
(capacity x inefficiency factor) / charging current
(1230 x 1.15)/200 = 7 hours
(1230 x 1.15)/1000 = 1.4 hours

That charger only delievers 0.2 A which is 200ma , you need at least a 500ma charger, mine is a 1 A ( 1000 ma ) and its quite normal to see a 700 ma rate while charging..

Take a look on ebay or any local phone shop/online phone accessory shop.
You want a micro usb charger that has an output current of at least 500mA/0.5A
The original HTC ones are 1000mA.
Blackberry ones I've seen are 700mA so they're good enough.
200mA isn't a problem, it won't damage your battery, in fact it will live slightly longer as it's being put under less stress when charging, but don't use your phone while you're charging with it as you'll be drawing more current than the charger can supply.
So for instance, if you wanted a car charger so you could use the phone as a satnav and talk via bluetooth, you'd need a 1A charger to cope with the drain on the battery.

With very, very light use about 55 hrs. That's not extended.
Alright, my dad has managed to temporary fix its original charger and I can confirm there's nothing wrong with the battery and the phone itself. It gets beyond 800mA with the original charger and fully recharge the batter within an hour and half, which is great..
Ok now I have to find a compatible USB to wall charger with the same frequency.
Since its a T-Mobile US HD2 its original charger is american, and since I am in Italy I'd get an Italian standard wall charger. Does the Italian HD2 original wall charger has the same frequency of the american one??

Well, since I purchased my Note 2, I kept facing this slow charging problem. Now what is slow charging some of you will ask? Well, it's simple. The device is taking more than normal time for charging. Now how do you know the default/should be rate for charging? Simple again. The AC adapter clearly says output rate as 2000 mA or 2.0 A. So with that calculation Note 2's monstrous 3100 mAh should be fully charged with 2 hours. But as we've seen steady 2.0A is not the output case in some/many scenario, so add another 30 mins to it. So whatever it is, from 0-100%, the device shouldn't take more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
And for me, it was taking around 5 hours! Sometimes 4 hours 30 minutes, and if it's very fast then 4 hours. Well I was never gonna wait 4 damn hours before going to my office and irritate myself, and I don't have the habit of charging overnight, unless I absolutely need it.
So I kept calling my retailer, asked for replacement, and they did, well, you won't believe, they replaced three times actually, so I had three different Note 2, with three different charger. Well, each of them acted absolutely fine at first 3-4 charge, then the problem was back again and again. I in fact turned off the device and put it into trash once.
Then I thought let's try some different USB cables, I tried my friend's Galaxy Ace cable. Charging current kept fluctuating between 1000-1200 mA. Which was better than those faulty stock cables, which provided steady 900 mA. Sometimes it even was detecting the AC current as USB, which would provide a mere 460 mA and would take God knows how long! Then I found my piece. I went to my retailer, frustrated and angry, asked them to give me the thickest and shortest possible cable, and they provide me one from a Samsung phone's box, but I can't recall which device was that! And then I sat there for half an hour, kept plugging and unplugging, and the current rate was rock steady at 1800 mA. I took it, paid just 10$ and came back.
Since then I have charged my phone almost 10 times and the current rate never went below 1800 mA / 1.8 A.
This is the cable I am using, do notice that it has 5 pin set up against stock cable's 4 pi, if that matters in any way, and it's about 10% thicker than the stock cable and also about 9" shorter.
And how will you monitor the charging current, three ways are there,
1- Battery Monitor (yet I don't know how to exactly use it)
2- If you are rooted (which is a must anyway), then just go to, /sys/class/power_supply/battery/current_avg
3- Use the app from the link below. It basically reads the current value just exactly as above but it saves the time to go into that file every time. A big thanks to Deadvirus.

Same here, it's done within about 2 hours every time, from ~1%. Something definitely must have gone wrong with yours :s

You are amazingly right. Every charger/cable combo I test seems to deliver different currents, according to the app you posted, ranging from 600 to 1300 (mA?).
Didn't know that could happen. Now I am looking for the Holy Grail of chargers, too.
After some tests: original chargers of Note 2 and Tab provide 1800 mA; no-brand Chinese labeled 1500 gives 1400; one Nokia labeled 1200 gives 1300, another, labeled 1200, gives 1200. Puro brand, labeled 2100, gives 1100. Another Chinese, no-brand, labeled 2000, double usb, gives 1100 per socket. Other no-brand samples give 600 or 300 mA.
Enormous variability.
Think I'll use the 1800 mA Samsung for when I'm out, and the good Nokia's for overnight charging when home.

For me...
Stock charger + stock short cable (0,9 m) = ~2+ hours
Stock charger + some other cable (1,8 m) = ~4+ hours
,don't know about thicknes. Mb stock cable is thicker, or at least harder to bend.

Thanks for the APK, I found a huge variance in charging rates based on a combination of chargers and cables. Goes to show that the cable makes a huge difference. Here's my findings:
** Stock Charger (2A):
w/Stock Cable (4-pin) - 1698
w/Cable from another phone (5-pin) - 1698
w/Cable from battery pack (5-pin)- 1698
w/generic eBay cable (4-pin)- 100! - It didn't charge at all, even with screen off.
** iPhone Charger (1A):
w/Stock Cable (4-pin) - 1300
w/Cable from another phone (5-pin) - 1100
w/Cable from battery pack (5-pin) - 1300
w/generic eBay cable (4-pin) - 100!
** Car Charger (1A):
w/another generic eBay cable - 490
(Was running Redpill kernel, not sure if that has fast charging built in which might affect results).
The app is really helpful. Been wondering what the charging current was on different chargers.
I measured it using the app based on current AVG and not current NOW. This is because I used a 800ma blackberry charger and yet current now shows 1698 which is impossible.
The app will tell you which cables and chargers are good. I was shocked that out of my 8 cables only 3 gave an average of more than 1000, the rest give around 800 or less.

So, the AC adaptater mentionne 2A but it doesn't mean that your devuce consume 2A... It means that the AC adaptater can provide 2A under 5V.
If a load need to consume 500mA the adaptater can provide enough power. But if it needs more than 2A, the ouput current will be at the 2A max but your voltage will decrease (it means that you have a device problem!).
The only thing to do is to refer to the user manual of device.
One thing more, the USB protocole fix the maximun current to 1A!
An other thing, if you want to have a better battery life it recommended to charge your battery slowly. Just have the habit to charge it during the night.

I also got an lg very thick cable..which is also 5 pin and let me tell it charges REEEEAAAALLLLYYYY FAST..when seen in application posted in op(thanx) it shows 1800..but the problem is if I detach charging before battery full notification then the battery is consumed at very high rate..I.e battery life decreased or maybe shows fake battery percentage. .and if I go for full charge it takes half hour more after 100% to show battery full in notification. .

Yes, the stock charger doesn't provide full 2A current.
And is it true that if the device is charged slowly the battery backup will be better? I mean that would be good then. I'll try that, thanks for informing.

On my old cable, the damaged stock one, it'd take half an hour to reach 100% from 99. With this one it takes 5-6 mins.
This whole charging process is complicated that much I can say.

Unfortunately I got a grey import so my stock charger was for a different country.
I'm having to use a 1.0A charger instead.
It still only takes a few hours to charge though. I sleep for 4-5 hours and it's always fully charged when I wake up.

Hmm is this a accurate way of measuring amp?
I was using same cord and the apk provided above, using the default 2amp charger says 1697 and using a bellkin in charger rated at 1amp,says the same thing?

As I stated in the screenshot, you shouldn't look at current_now, it'll always be same, 1698, you should look at current_avg.

Just switched to a very old 0.7 A output charger my father uses on his primitive samsung device. It gives better results than my stock charger/USB cable, provided by samsung. 800 mA on a 700 mA charger. How is that even possible?

Yeah I am. The stock charger says 2A, 5V. When used with the stock cable it charges at a mere 200-400 mA. I used the wall charger of an old samsung phone (doesn't have a usb cable, just a wall charger) and current rises to 800mA. Where can I buy a good USB cable at in the UK?
