What apps in FolioMod

I thought we might take a poll, on which apps you would like have included and which should be left out.
im thinking that it needs a cleanup, so why not ask those that uses it.
tether and net
A tether to a winmo 6.5 with 3g. And.application to connect wan tablet to lan pc
I would get rid of everything that can easily be downloaded by the Market. Maybe even the Toshiba stuff if there are free downloadable apps that do the job too.
I think the best is, a standard android version with all the google app's.
Opera, file exploler, music/movie app's etc can easily be downloaded from the market.

no no.. only those downloadable from Market will be removed, but so far looks like they stay
those would normally be
Youtube , Gmail , Maps , Googlevoice , Twitter, facebook , streetview and such..
the GoogleApps framework services would still remain..
Adding FolioWidget will add a lot of pain for future updates
but glad to see this mod going this far
I don't need any toshiba apps, so they can go out.
For all the other things I'd like to see some basic apps included (FileManager, YouTube, FolioWidget).
Just make sure that these are not system apps and can be uninstalled/exchanged painless.
Titanium backup seems to be able to remove system apps, so maybe it is moot. I prefer not to have any apps installed which the market then wishes to update but can't (as currently DocsToGo showed before I un-installed). The only must-haves are things which can't be got from the market (unless they are packaged as a separate update, helping to keep the filesize down)
Titanium Backup
I think Titanium Backup _is_a_must_. Just think on a rom update with it preinstalled:
1. Do backup
2. Flash new rom
3. Do Restore
And everyone has his prefs, apps, etc., woking in a snap.
I think Titanium backup and a terminal emulator should be good ideas.
if you want to make everyone happy, you should include every single app in the market
but if you want a functional rom, stick with the basics.
as few system apps as possible, since it's easier to both remove and update them that way.
and just include apps with functionality that everyone needs. like a file explorer, the gApps naturally, flash and morelocale let the poll do it's thing and we'll see.
i personally think the folio stock apps are mere crap.
Thanks for your job Dexter...
New application :
Titanium Back Up (or a similar) which allows to backup / restore applications provided they can be reinstalled from a version to another...

I would include a nice MediaPlayer, TuneIn for Radio and a Backup Manager too.
Only the app's that 99% of the foliomod users use should be included.
That can be a browser, media player (stock), flash,..

All the little updates in Touchwiz

So you all know the big things Touchwiz updates, but here's all the lil' stuff they don't advertise. I was fortunate enough to visit the event and grab a T-shirt. Basically a lot of the stock apps are kind of revamped.
The video player now makes smaller videos full screen, it has the option to make your video look warm, cool, or normal, and even bookmark spots while you're watching.
The Click sound when closing the tablet sounds different, a lot cleaner and realistic.
They've added a file browser so no need to use a 3rd party one.
World Clock, a 3D globe world clock that you can literally spin and see dark and light sides of the world, pretty cool.
The screen, when held upside down, will no longer go black, and turn back on upside down, it will now rotate 180 just like its ipad bretheren...
Thats the Jist of what I can remember.
One question I had and was wondering if anyone could answer, is that
they've added an option in the wireless tab labeled, Kies via Wifi. I loaded up Kies on my macintosh, and clicked that option, it scans my wifi but never recognizes any devices. anything I should know on how to get that to work?
The included file manager is great. It far better than the junk you see in the market.
Also they added a great task/RAM manager app in the mini bar.
I am wondering if it's similar to Kies Air? If that's the case you won't need Kies installed on your Mac since all communication takes place within desktop browser. Simply launch the app on your device and it will give you a URL to enter into your desktop browser. It really is a very cool app

Was "quick controls" in the webbrowser added by the Touchwiz update? I don't remember seeing it before. It's in the browser settings, under labs, you can then use the browser in fullscreen, hiding the tab bar and the url bar. The browser is then controlled by swiping from either side. Here's a screen:

Sadly I don't think thats what it is,

You must be kidding. We are talking about file manager for the tablet not a network file manager. Quite funny. Also, ES File Manager is a VERY crude app and the UI is not optimized for tablets. Its a pain to use. On the other hand the file manager that comes with TouchWiz is fully designed for the tablet, its VERY intuitive, very easy to use, and has a FAR superior UI and navigation. You must be kidding because no logical person would have posted what you did.

I was just going to mention this. If you use ES File Explorer you have to cut and paste to this stupid, crude TAB. Then from this stupid tab you copy to the locations you want. ES File Explorer is such a crude painful app to use.
IMO jeandujardin01 is just trolling. Nobody with any logic would post something like that and be serious.

How so? ES File Explorer is lightyears ahead. Especially with the fact that you can manipulate the files with root access (i.e. copy/delete files in the system/app folder). Not to mention the tons of other options it provides over the basic File Manager.

[Apps] for I'm Watch Smartwatch

I started on the wrong foot, but finally found that it likes Android 1.6 Apps!
- Angry Birds!!!!!! (with music and usable, albeit, it just takes a little time to Start just Once Initially, the everything is quite normalish after initial start..... But the initial Splash screen looks so cool on the smartwatch it is worth the wait).
- Dolphin Browser
- Opera Mini Browser
Hints:
- To download anything in Opera Mini, select the DCIM folder, it seems it does not like to download on initial root. Warning, it is not fast downloading.
- When typing remember that it is a good idea that when typing in the small keyboard, that if you are fast, and keep pressing a key and notice it was not the one you intended, before releasing the key, if you do it fast enough, you can move your finger towards the correct key before releasing your finger. This is much faster than having to delete a wrong entered letter. If you keep pressing and fail to move fast, it would suggest alternative based on the wrong letter and you can no longer move to next, but if you click elsewhere, it won't type the wrong letter.
- Dolphin Browser is great because you can define shortcuts for common menus (remember you don't have a menu key), with its gestures. I made a gesture for settings and other to go to downloads and for full screen!
More Apps come!!
Please Share your Apps!!!
More Apps!
- Aptoid works quite fine to install new apps.
- Backgammon Free
- Bazooka Rabbit works! (albeit, not all the screen appears, but it is playable).
- ES File Explorer
- .... more to try ...

I just recently got my imwatch and I'm already using the amazing side loader machine to load random apps onto it. I'll try to get a video going of it if I can but otherwise not many apps seem to work on it. Great little thread. Lets hope more people post the names of more suitable useful apps.

I'd be interested to see how some apps work compared to my Motoactv. So some examples would be emulators such as gbcoid, snesoid and n64oid. Maybe some android games such as Hill Climb, and Hardest Game Ever. Apps, I dunno, maybe root explorer (or just explorer), a browser (I use boat browser mini), and mxplayer playing a video would be cool to see. Everything but the emulators I just got off the Google Play store. If you can't access the store on the I'm Watch yet I remember being able to take apps off my phone. Just download the app on your phone, then use a file manager to browse to /data/app/, then send it to your computer (I use bluetooth). I can send you the emulator apk's, just PM me your e-mail.
Use bluestack make it easier to grab the apk and download multiple apps at the same time,
Games or apps compatible with android 1.6 will have a much better chance of working...
Good info
apps
Got some more apps that seem to work on the i'm watch after the 2.1.2 adb update
go jkeyboard works
mobicalc
advanced task killer
voice search kinda works, cant find netwrok connection. would like someone to get that working.
dropbox works
graffiti pro keyboard works
dolphin browser works
gesture search
but there arent many people who are rooting and or doing things for the watch,. So if you can give me any ideas as to what to do to it or how I'd appreciate it,. Such as unlocking the bootloader
What I'm finding is that anything where you can draw or speak is more useful for this watch.\
rooting with super on click was the best way of doing it honestly .
Ok so I found a useful group of apks that make customization something a greater thing.
email me @ [email protected]
for the link. (don't have enough posts for links)
Thanks!
There is a new ADB version out. The last was 2.1.2 but now there is a 2.2.0 which I am going to update to now and attempt to see if it changes much.
Heres hoping.

Well theres two ways to do it.
1. you can do the whole rooting process by getting the ADB software from imwatch and using super one click to root it then install it through a sideload manager.
2. you can download all the apks in there and go to the im market and get Sideload Manager app from there. Then you'd put the apks in the DCIM folder and go through the Sideload Manager and install it that way.
Note: You should disconnect from the pc when trying to install through sideload manager app for option two.

It's still pretty buggy. But from the things I've seen android phones have apps that are capable of handling and changing the volume and etc on there.

Syncing ebook reader?

What epub readers will sync between my phone and Nook? (I mean my place in a book, not the books themselves.)
I tried PageTurner - and, while it works, it's ugly as sin. Text looks awful, margins are bad.
Ideally I'd use Google Books, but it won't run on my Nook. I tried version 1.6 (I think) and it opens, shows covers, then crashes.
Thanks!
@d0g,
Kobo and Kindle are the primary apps that sync books between devices that work properly on the Nook.
I'm using AIReader (I as in i), which does a very good job syncing reading positions in books (all epubs) - if you're not too concerned that the data may travel over an unknown (probably the developer's own) server. The app still supports Android 2.1, has its own library function, Aard integration for custom dictionaries, and a ton of options. The developer is Russian and may sound a bit rough if you ask for support, but gets his job done.
Kindle synchronization works, but you have to find an old version Kindle app for the Nook - or the eInk-optimized one somewhere he in the forums.
I'm also using Aldiko Sync to synchronize my books across devices - very handy if you do a olot of text conversions to ebooks with Calibre, and don't want to do the same over and over again for the Nook, the phone, the tablet, and the laptop.

OMG, thank you! THIS is the app I've been looking for! Fantastic! Looks AMAZING on my NST. And so fast!
It actually displays text better than native Nook app (or at least as good, but with more control.)

Thank you both so much! I gotta try this app.

Don't know in your case, I had no problems with kodi 16th version. I'm doing that: downloading kodi last build of 16 beta 1 (i think it's now beta 2 is available) also I downloading the beast addon package (torrent file from his website http://spartanpixel.net/Kodi/thebeast/ ) unrar the beast package, find appropriate package where in the beast "addons only" location - manually copy on your computer and paste/transfer to shield root kodi directory where addon location (can't tell you exact path, I'm not at home now) . After start kodi and whollaa you have Genesis, Fenix and many many all other really kind of good addons - wait until addons update (if you have issues with updates - kind of not updating - try find in youtube for help- keyword : kodi addons update problem etc) and should works fine. Why I choose this way?! Coz this is easiest way get big collection of really good addons. Why not simply install through zip / add sources etc?! Coz the beast only properly works on kodi 15.2, but addons "only that folder if you move" works great on kodi16. Try and let me know how goes.
Also when you will gonna transfer addon folder to shield - turn of Antivirus, otherwise will take ages (or you can do, transfered all the beast downloaded file rar (not extracted) to shield and with es file explore browse for addon folder - copy and paste to kodi appropriate location for addon + it will be faster with transfer. Good luck and sorry for my English.

Just adding my 0.02. I get plenty of sources loaded, sometimes more if I back out and go back in but plenty of them return "no stream available".
I previously used Kodi on AFTV and this was a rare occurence. May just be coincidence with the Shield.

Don't know. I had sometimes too kind of stream problems, but I don't think so this is shield (how can metal can effect on software) . Sometimes after addon update start working without problems, sooner this is addon developer problems - servers down, sources has been changed without addon update, kodi 16 not compatible with some addons etc and etc guessing question, don't know.
