WM6.5 for TD2 India Version

Hello All,
Does anybody know when HTC is planning to release the WM6.5 update for phones sold in India??? The UK site is not allowing me to download the update if I give my phone's serial key...

As per your email, you want to know about the windows 6.5. We would like to inform you that Microsoft launched the Windows 6.5 on Tuesday, but currently for your device no up gradation available yet. As it is available you will find this information from our website www.htc.com/in.

HTC is NOT planing to upgrade TD2 in India - As per a CALL with HTC...
I was abvle to download from Europe site. (http://www.htc.com/europe/)
You can also try or get any WWW rom and install. That should work.
PS: The India site is maintain by HTC Twain group

South Africa is also not going to be getting an upgrade by the looks of things... i find that ridiculous. why not just let us install the UK versions...it's the same language after all...
sigh.

Why this stepmotherly treatment to some countries?
Btw, has anyone downloaded the UK version? Does it work?

How did u manage to get the serial no. accepted????
If u have a European device serial no. then plz share with us as it would be helpful in upgrading our TD2's..

HT97TL102778 appears to be working.
Has anyone installed a UK / Europe ROM on an Asiapac device? Does it work?

Called up HTC customer care number 1800113377
asked them about "when we will get the update?". Lady on the phone clearly said "we ARE going toget the update". we just have to wait little bit more.
the update is ready with them and it is the HTC HQ's call when to release the update.
bottom line is "wait and watch http://www.htc.com/in/support.aspx"

Regarding, But we like to inform you that Currently windows update for your HTC mobile is not available for India. As it is available you will find this information from our website www.htc.com/in.

hi again guys. South African ROM released end of last week. www.leaf.co.za
i've heard from a few of my Indian friends (living in S.A) that they were able to access and download the official ROM with their phones that came from India (after registering).
maybe that works for you guys?

Update Failed
I guess my happiness was short lived - after a couple of steps the updater failed saying invalid vendor ID - nearly gave me an heart attack - the phone was showing some multicolored screen... - At least it did boot back to WM 6.1 later...
Please post if anyone else has success in updating the phone...

DAMN! i'm sorry to hear about your scare...i kinda feel responsible, having suggested the idea!
may I ask why you are avoiding installing a cooked or even OFFICIAL (as in UK version) ROM? are you worried about guarantee? or the risk of damaging your phone? Because if so, then i am gladly willing to walk any1 through the steps you need to take to get it running.

drag-on.. i'll b happy if u could guide me thro the steps , i was kinda scared to install a cooked rom on my HTC diamond2 till now coz while trying to do the same with my HTC touch i bricked my mobile a year back..
and i couldnt find a proper step by guide for doin this.. in every thread regarding the same somebody or the other is getting into problems..
so pls illustrate a proper step by step guide on the procedures of installin a ROM on a factory HTC touch diamond2..

I'll be glad to. what i would then rather do is send you a private message with the steps, so that we don't clutter the forums and have snide comments from senior members about how "easy" it all is. (they ARE right, but i know the first time is scary)
i'm going partying now, but i'll be glad to send you (and any1 else who asks for a private message) step by step instructions tomorrow.

Have you installed it Ashwin? Does it work? I tried the european WWE and it says my device is not supported

6.5 upgrade
I upgraded my d2 with Asian wwe release after doing HARDSPL and it is working perfact

What is 1.25.405.1? I'm on 1.14.405.2, but reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8129287 makes it seem that I should be able to upgrade to 1.25. Googling looks like it was out yesterday.
So I raised a support email with HTC and got back:
In regards to updates We cannot comment on what devices may or may not get an update just yet. Any announcements will be made through our Website, Facebook page and Twitter feed. Update Information: 1. Enhances support for Facebook status display when dialing; 2. Increases support for Google Services like Google Talk, Android Market and others; 3. Improves combining contacts from Outlook and other source

edit: how big is it? I've got 1.9gb free on the SD. That has to be enough, as it's more than was free on the card that came with it.

This is a higher "new" Version ! Unbranded WWE is currently only in Version 1.25.405.1 avaiable ?
Do you have an unbranded phone and do yo get this update via ota or was it shipped with the phone ?

i think its asia wwe version

Unbranded and it came shipped. So what does this mean? There's another update before 2.2?

there is 1.28 too everything with 1.xx is not froyo. froyo will be 2.xx

[Q] Update using the official update tool

Hi guys,
I've recently bought a GT540 pre-installed with 1.6 and have been trying for approximately 1week to update it to 2.1 before I start with custom ROMs etc.
The issues I've been having is that (a) I don't currently have admin access on the Windows PCs I have access to and (b) trying to use XP SP3 within a VirtualBox instance (Ubuntu Jaunty host) results in the errors described briefly within the support email I just sent to LG UK support staff.
Basically I'm just wondering whether 1) anybody here has faced these issues before 2) if it is a common issue (with a common fix?) 3) if it is a problem with my setup 4) whether these issues would also be a problem if I used the unofficial tools.
Researching around leads me to believe that it hasn't been asked much before and there are no answers other than "it has worked for me" / "I'm having the same problem" / "make sure you are using VirtualBox with USB support" (which I am, else the update process wouldn't even begin).
So yeah, thanks in advance for any help you guys provide and lets see how long it takes for LG UK support to respond (will forward any info to here).
I'm trying to use the LG Update Tool using following the instructions at < http://www.lg.com/uk/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp > for the GT540.
I do not currently have access to a Windows PC that I have administrative access to (needed in order to install the update tool) so I am attempting to update from 1.6 to 2.1 from within a 'VirtualBox' instance of Windows XP SP3. The tool recognises and attempts to connect to my phone but keeps failing at the 'Checking the connections with the cell phone... (30%)' stage of the update stating with the error message "Problem with communication between cell phone and PC". I've followed the remedial instructions that it provides multiple times.
I see that at < http://www.lgforum.com/forum/boards/general/2008-2009-rumors-and-speculations/topics/gt540-android-1-dot-6-donut-to-2-dot-1-eclair > an LG rep states that there are issues with updating using XP SP3 and I would like clarification of the status of lSP3 compatibility.

To be honest saying that the 2.1 release has been pulled back doesn't explain why it would report a connection error with the phone - surely in that case it would prevent me starting the update process??

Depends on what you mean by "new version". MS did not release their March 2011 update until like March 30th, so I doubt anyone would have the latest WP7 cracked ROM on the 24th...the date of your post.
There are lots of ROM's out there from the February 2011 update (v.7008).
I haven't seen anyone who has posted the latest March 2011 update ROM yet.

Come on PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ the bloody forums before posting and this isn't development now is it.... to answer your question (which has been answered a million times already) NO you can not update your HD2 with the zune software and you will only be able to update your ROM by downloading a new one here, updating via the zune software will NEVER work.
Oh and the March update is NoDo which will bring copy and paste , the DFT are working on the NoDo update and are currently testing it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH_x22NY6Yk) so it should be here soon.
