[Solved][Q] Splash screen during first boot - Windows Mobile

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I've picked up a kitchen from a retired chef so as not to reinvent the wheel since most of the changes I'm looking to do are rather minor.
One thing that's been bugging me is a small splash screen that only appears during the first boot over the welcomehead. At first I thought it was a part of RunCC as it appears above the progress bars when RunCC runs, but I took out the whole packaged (replaced it with XDA_UC) and the splash still appears for about 5 to 10 seconds during the first boot before I get to windows.
I looked through the image files (*.png/*.bmp/*.gif/*.jp[e]g) but couldn't find it anywhere, so I'm guessing it's a resource inside a dll (or some other binary file) but I can't figure out which?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything related to my question by searching.
Edit:
Some pics for clarification (sorry about the quality, I only have my laptop's webcam to take images with for the time being):
Animation/Welcomehead:

The splash in question:
In case you're wondering, it reads: "Nhathoa ROMs - Windows Phone" (check my sig for more info).
It appears for about 10 seconds and then it's replaced by the Microsoft copyright text:

Check for Wellcomehead.png it must be inside Operator package or some OEM folder.
EDIT: sorry maybe i didnt understand right, anyway:
1st Boot = Splash.nb
2nd screen Wellcomehead
3rd RunCC
Those are the sequence.

Actually, none of those is the one that I'm talking about.
I'll try to get some pics to better explain what I'm talking about.
Edit: First post updated with pictures.

I downloaded the Kitchen in your sig,i took the TD2 Kitchen 2008 and i found nothing.
Im pretty sure that the pics you posted before are the Splash Screen.
You can make a test for be sure, download this Topaz Splash Screen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589777 , or one that you like, and check if it will change and that words will disappear.

I also want to know what this is, I know which images it uses though.
This is what I know about it:
It runs on first boot after which is after splash.nb and then the HTC animation (<-- btw, anyone know how to remove this completely?).
It uses the normal welcomehead.png as the wallpaper.
It uses PB1.bmp to PB14.bmp for loading bars (although yours don't seem to have it :?)
It uses LogoMsg.bmp to display an overlay (I think this, in your case, is that "Nhathoa ROMs - Windows Phone" image)
Hope this is the same thing you're talking about, and I hope it helps

Yes! That's exactly the file I was looking for! Thank you veeery much!
I must have forgotten to search for *.bmp files under OEM and only looked in the EXT folder.
As for the loading bars, they don't appear when you don't cook RunCC (which is the case for me).
Oh, and about disabling the startup animation, making this reg entry point to a non-existing file can do the trick:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"StartupGif"="\\Windows\\imaginaryFile.gif"
After doing this change, the screen will show a black screen between the boot splash and the welcome head, or where the animation used to be.
Got that from the "BSB Tweaks" utility, but I ended up not using it. I didn't feel any difference in booting time.
I don't know if there's an alternative method.

old thread but BUMP
this is the original wm logo i have.
LogoMsg.bmp
is there any edited ones somewhere? cool ones?
thanks

Tired of the old Sprint Ahead animation...replace it!

This is total fluff, but...if you're tired of the Sprint Ahead animation during startup of your device, and are sick of iPhone users whipping out their 'units' to show you how purdy they are...try this on for size.

I made this the same size and frame number as the original so you simply have to drop it into your \windows directory...right-click the image above and 'save picture as...' and rename to 'SPCS_startup.gif' (btw - it doesn't loop...so if you didn't see it, refresh your browser)
Enjoy!
-E
you could just turn off the startup animation using the configuration tools available on this site.
Yeah...I'm aware of that...but where's the fun in that? (also, mine doesn't seem to boot any faster without the animation)
-E
how would i go about this on a vzw xv6800? i am not seeing the SPCS_startup.gif in the windows folder. I'm assuming the startup animation is under a different filename. Anyone know?
can you explain how to do this step by step? sorry just got my phone and still trying to figure out everything
Tried to do this per your instructions on my Mogul but the original file on the stock rom won't delete and it also won't let me copy this one in it's place. What now?

Yea I had this same issue..It doesnt allow you to rename it...or delete it either. Guess its not as easy as he made it seem.

Try copying it to the device first (like in my docs) and then use the file explorer in the device to overwrite the old file.
If you try to do it from your desktop it will simply say the file is protected...
But if you do it from the device it will ask you if you really want to overwrite the file and release it just long enough to let you change the file.
I did this from my Mogul not from the desktop. Used the device to go to this thread. Copied the .gif to my storage card, re-copied and tried to paste to the Windows directory. It asked if I wanted to replace the file with this one. I tapped yes. Error message: File cannot be replaced. Tried to delete the original file. Error message: File cannot be deleted. I appreciate your help with this. I'm not a noob, I just don't really post or upload anything.
use total commander
worked great thanks
Sorry for not explaining it further...and for not getting back to those who were interested. I guess I never even tried to copy directly from the desktop OS...I always pull data from my desktop to storage on the device before doing anything with it.
I'm glad that somebody else out there thought this was at least a little amusing and decided to throw it on their device.

[Q] Change the Splashscreen

Hello, I'm newbie there. First, I would like to congratulate with all staff of xda! I've an HCT Tattoo from four days and I immediately read the guide to flash fyodor ROM for upgrade my HTC from 1.6 to 2.2! It's was simply, beacause guides are carefully written step by step!
But when I search How to change the Splashscreen, I didn't find nothing for HTC Tattoo, only for other HTC... Is there a way to change the annoying "Fastweb" Splashscreen with another?
Thanks in advance...
Greetings

Do you mean boot screen? Look in themes and apps.
No, not BootScreen... I didn't need to change the animated Logo of Android... I need to change the SplashScreen, the image before "Droid" text and animation...
Sorry for my bad English ^^;
Nobody knows ?
I think nobody still understand what do you mean.

if you mean the image when turning the device on, it's still bootscreen. I have no idea where else could be the thing you call splashscreen.
Try describing the "splashscreen" on your phone, maybe i can see what you mean.

Oh you all.....
Splash screen - the screen at the very beginning when you turn on your Phone. In tattoo's case, it would be stylized text "Tattoo". I.e. it "splashes" and is static (screen)
after Splash screen comes
Bootanimation - usually an animation that shows during OS boot process.
You can consider bootanimation the screen when like Windows loads up

and splash-screen when BIOS loads up.

Is there a way to do this? To change the splashscreen? Or is it not possible?
revive
Hi, there.
I revive this old thread cuz i'm currently looking of a way to change the splash screen of the tattoo. The screen that display "tattoo" logo before bootanimation.
I'd like to further customize my little phone, but i don't find threads explaining how to do it. I found methods for Wildfire which seems close enough to tattoo resolution. I found how to create a .nb file or .img file containing the new splash image 320x240 but i don't know where to put it.
I'm asking for help on how to change the splash on tatoo. Or simply where is stored the normal splash file on the tattoo/click phone.
Thx in advance.
It's not possible, as it requires full S-OFF.
Well, thanks for the reply
I guess there wont be an S-off for tattoo as they did for wildfire

HTC "You" animated splash screen (w/ audio)

I created a clean looking HTC animated splash based on the HTC "YOU" commercials. It's only about 4 seconds long to avoid a long startup sequence. Just unzip and use a file namager like Total Commander to copy the files into your /windows/ folder.
If someone would volunteer to make this a cab, I'd appreciate it.
Update: Sept 1st, 2010 - Installable CAB version for those who don't want to have to copy the files to their windows folder. (thanks Brent372). Look a few posts down for the link.

Fun! I was going to swap out the stupid Sprint startup for a static screen but I like this better.

Cab installed to device, no go.
Stock ROM/ radio...themes all custom cozy.
In which folder do u put the zip file in windows???
On Acer Neotouch S200 with a stock ROM is NOT working....
I've installed a cab on a main mamory, but nothing!
alright i found this app which changes icons but it also contains a "bonus feature"
that allows you to change either the animated boot screen, and or microsoft boot screen just copy your "gifs",and "pngs" to your sd card find them with the app
Save, close, then use the "reset device" option and enjoy.
(the preview option is broken)
Using this now on my Sprint Touch Pro 2. If you have Sprint, you have to copy over the "SPCS_480x800.gif" file in the Windows folder.
Thanks for the great work!
P.S. Where's the thanks button on your post? Would like to have used it...

Replace splash screen (operator logo)

#### Working on UK O2 HD7 ####
I have discovered a way of replacing the operator logo image that appears on boot of your device before the Windows Phone 7 animation.
What you need...
chevron/developer unlocked windows phone 7 handset.
TouchExplorer for HTC phone (confirmed working.
A bitmap image with dimensions of 480 x 800.
Step 1
Send your image to your device by e-mail or use sendtowp7 app if installed.
Step 2
on the device...
Set the image as a wallpaper.
Step 3
Open TouchExplorer and open Wallpapers folder
in the list of wallpaper files you will see your image as a random number but still a bitmap (.bmp)
You can open it to ensure you have the correct image.
Step 4
Tap the filename so it is selected and then bring up the menu to rename it.
Rename the file mologo.bmp and ensure the file is still selected.
Bring up the menu to select copy
Step 5
Click the back icon to go back to the list of folders.
Open Windows folder and wait for all the files to load. (touch the screen if you set your phone to lock in the shortest time)
Bring the menu up and select paste.
You will see a notification saying the file already exists to replace it.
CLick OK to replace the existing file.
Restart your phone and see your new picture appear.
I am unable to test this on other devices on other networks.
I hope mologo.bmp is the name of the file of the original image for all devices. I just searched the windows folder for bitmap files.
it is mologo.bmp on tmobile us
good find
thanksssssssssssss it worked fine
Thanks
No More O2 Logo
Thanks, but uhh mine doesnt show properly on the screen its all messed up kinda can see it, Maybe it is the image, can someone post the splash screen they used?
Thank you for this, worked perfectly!!!
Nice, worked for me.

[Tutorial] How to make your very own kernal Boot splash screen

first off i spelt kernel wrong in the heading and in my original boot logo screen but doesn't matter xD anyway. Hello all, i was editing my kernel for my own liking, im not a developer or anything i just learnt simple things off little tutorials. i am not stealing work nor making stuff my own im just giving an example of something you can do.... so previously on my Sony z i had the Evo mix kernel and i hated the boot splash screen... you know the first image that pops up on boot saying "Sony" well i decided i wanted to edit that. if you do not have a graphic design program like Photoshop or gimp i suggest getting one if you want to create your own. If you want me to make you one i can create you a half decent one by your request.
I originally got this idea off a developer off this site because i complained how i didn't like the splash screen and he pulled me into this direction it took me a while to figure out how it all worked because i had no one to help me so i decided to make a tutorial for people who will have the same struggle
if you are using Photoshop to create your own dimensions of your picture must be 1920x1080 pixels (height being 1920 and width being 1080) and resolution must be at 300 otherwise it will come out as all blurry and horrible.
SAVE AS PNG FORMAT and make a back up of a PSD format aswell incase you need to edit it
- Instructions -
-Things you will need:
LogoFlasher by Olivier- ThreadXDALogoFlasher
This simple converter By Yagya Gaire (No password this time) - PNG TO RLE
Gimp or photoshop
Some sort of Custom Recovery such as TWRP or CWM
Virus scan for simple converter - virustotal
- Tutorial finally! -
Step 1 - Create your design or use one that you requested by me
Step 2- Put the PNG to RLE converter on your desktop and go into the folder
step 3- then go to "read me first" and it will have a set of instructions if you are to lazy then this is what you do
1. Put all your .PNG Files that you want to convert to .RLE into the PNG-Images folder.
2. Run image-2-rle.bat
3. What are you expecting? It's already over. Check out the RLE-Images folder for your RLE file.
step 4 - copy your logo to the "bootlogo" in Olivier's logoflasher.zip that was provided. Backup the original in case of errors. rename your RLE file to Logo now you're basically done place the Logoflasher.zip into your SD card and flash the file with a Custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM.
