This is total fluff, but...if you're tired of the Sprint Ahead animation during startup of your device, and are sick of iPhone users whipping out their 'units' to show you how purdy they are...try this on for size.

I made this the same size and frame number as the original so you simply have to drop it into your \windows directory...right-click the image above and 'save picture as...' and rename to 'SPCS_startup.gif' (btw - it doesn't loop...so if you didn't see it, refresh your browser)
Enjoy!
-E
you could just turn off the startup animation using the configuration tools available on this site.
Yeah...I'm aware of that...but where's the fun in that? (also, mine doesn't seem to boot any faster without the animation)
-E
how would i go about this on a vzw xv6800? i am not seeing the SPCS_startup.gif in the windows folder. I'm assuming the startup animation is under a different filename. Anyone know?
can you explain how to do this step by step? sorry just got my phone and still trying to figure out everything
Tried to do this per your instructions on my Mogul but the original file on the stock rom won't delete and it also won't let me copy this one in it's place. What now?

Yea I had this same issue..It doesnt allow you to rename it...or delete it either. Guess its not as easy as he made it seem.

Try copying it to the device first (like in my docs) and then use the file explorer in the device to overwrite the old file.
If you try to do it from your desktop it will simply say the file is protected...
But if you do it from the device it will ask you if you really want to overwrite the file and release it just long enough to let you change the file.
I did this from my Mogul not from the desktop. Used the device to go to this thread. Copied the .gif to my storage card, re-copied and tried to paste to the Windows directory. It asked if I wanted to replace the file with this one. I tapped yes. Error message: File cannot be replaced. Tried to delete the original file. Error message: File cannot be deleted. I appreciate your help with this. I'm not a noob, I just don't really post or upload anything.
use total commander
worked great thanks
Sorry for not explaining it further...and for not getting back to those who were interested. I guess I never even tried to copy directly from the desktop OS...I always pull data from my desktop to storage on the device before doing anything with it.
I'm glad that somebody else out there thought this was at least a little amusing and decided to throw it on their device.

I've been searching the forums for this, and can only find info on T-Mobile, and changing the skin to the WM5...
when making a call or using the dialer, or in a call, that ugly off-color CINGULAR logo is in the upper left. Any way to remove this, or at least change it?
thanks
create a replacement dialer logo .gif that is
size: 105px x 23px
name: "Carrierlogo"
place in location: /windows folder and replace existing .gif file named "Carrierlogo"
after replacing: soft reset
you may want to save a copy of the oem "Carrierlogo" file... or not
i created a blank/transparent .gif because i don't need it to say anything but any image will appear so have fun
Dude..I can't copy it..because the image is in use...
I have attached the file I use. (I take NO credit for making the file, as I found it elsewhere).
Use the instructions above and copy it over the existing one in the \windows folder ... then soft reset.
larsjeparsje - make sure you don't have the phone dial pad window open.

interesting... i totally removed "Carrierlogo.gif" from \windows and:
1) no adverse affect. phone works fine with no image at all.
2) i do not see the carrier displayed as you state.
The problem is, I can't delete the Carrierlogo.gif...
i read in another post that it may related to rom version... search is your friend... sorry

Deck1
Deck2
Just copy the pegcards.96 to your windows directory or install the cab file
Deck 2 works like a charme
Thanks
Can someone see if deck 1 works to?
Gee...what made you try out Deck 2 over Deck 1 first?
But yeah...I'll try both of them....
lollll it's nice idée, thank you very much
I dropped the dll in my windows folder and then even restarted the phone but it was no good.
I noticed that the current dll in windows is pegcards.dll and not pegcards96.dll will that have something to do with it.
Maybe I have a different version of solitaire.
I'm using a T-Mobile Wing with Aserg's Rom v12
thankssssssssssssss
I have these on my fuze and enjoy these greatly, but one quick question. Is there anyway to get the cards separated just a hair? You know like once they are flipped face up.
For example in the top pick. The 4th row from the left, the queen, jack. ten. Is there anyways to get the cards separated just a tad more so you can see the under lying cards better? In this case the queen and jack symbols.

Do you have an tutorial ready yet?
Any chance of getting a VGA version? I like deck2
Can you post a VGA pegcards.dll or PM it to me i will try when i get time
Also someone asked how this was done well you need a few tools all availible on this forum (Unsigner, signer, reshacker, search for file suite
1:
Remove any Attributes from the Dll you want to edit ie.. read only, hidden ect..
This can be done easily in windows by right clicking the file and unticking all the file attribute boxes
2:
Next you must Unsign the file you want to edit! Just go into the Unsign dir and drop the file over UnSigner.exe.
A Command Prompt Window will popup for a short time, saying the file is now unsigned! (if this fails go back to stage 1)
3:
Now you can edit the file make your changes to the Graphics or Text.
4:
Now you must resign the file open siggner.exe. Then choose the file you edited and take the "SDKSamplePrivDeveloper" Certificate.
Press "Start sign process" a text file should be created with the name of the file you just edited ,Read this text file to make sure the file you edited was signed successfully
5:
Remember to replace the attributes (read only,ect...) for the file you edited make sure that you do this stage last and not before trying to sign the file or your signing will fail
Thanks to schreda for putting together all you need in one package
Download the tools here:

Awesome, thank you!! I'd been looking at some other "how-to-cab" guides, this one seems to be as simple as can be
Looks like I've got my weekend project all lined up now
I created a clean looking HTC animated splash based on the HTC "YOU" commercials. It's only about 4 seconds long to avoid a long startup sequence. Just unzip and use a file namager like Total Commander to copy the files into your /windows/ folder.
If someone would volunteer to make this a cab, I'd appreciate it.
Update: Sept 1st, 2010 - Installable CAB version for those who don't want to have to copy the files to their windows folder. (thanks Brent372). Look a few posts down for the link.

Cab installed to device, no go.
Stock ROM/ radio...themes all custom cozy.
In which folder do u put the zip file in windows???
On Acer Neotouch S200 with a stock ROM is NOT working....
I've installed a cab on a main mamory, but nothing!
alright i found this app which changes icons but it also contains a "bonus feature"
that allows you to change either the animated boot screen, and or microsoft boot screen just copy your "gifs",and "pngs" to your sd card find them with the app
Save, close, then use the "reset device" option and enjoy.
(the preview option is broken)
Using this now on my Sprint Touch Pro 2. If you have Sprint, you have to copy over the "SPCS_480x800.gif" file in the Windows folder.
Thanks for the great work!
P.S. Where's the thanks button on your post? Would like to have used it...
I am trying to root my samsung galaxy s and tried for 3 hours yesterday until I decided it was not going to happen. First, I'm on android 2.1 and used two ways to attempt to root it.
The first way I tried it was by downloading the update.zip file and connecting my phone and placing it into my internal memory drive (I put it in the folder with 12gb). Then I rebooted my phone into recovery mode and clicked reinstall packages. But an error came up saying something like it can't find the update.zip file. I did this like 5 different times renaming the file and putting it in different folders but nothing worked.
The second way I tried was the one click method. I downloaded the one click app and followed all the directions but once I'm in the reboot mode it again said can't find the update file
If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
If you're using Windows, make sure "hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked in Control Panel. It could be that the file is named, "update.zip.zip"
Also, it has to be in the root directory. Meaning, not in a folder. Just drag it to the SD Card.

Idk if this is the root directory but this is what I do. Ill plug my phone in the computer and then ill have two drives show up. One is my phone and the other is my memory card. I put it in my phone not in a specific folder inside the internal memory.
If thats not the right place can you give me step by step directions to where I should be putting the file.
Thanks
When you download the update.zip file its original name is not update.zip, i forget what its originally called but you HAVE to change it to update.zip for it to work, thats the only reason i can think of why it couldn't find the file.
Ok so after I hide the extension like the 2nd comment said I have to rename it to update or update.zip? If I rename it to update it would still be update.zip but the zip part is hidden bc.of the settings right?
Thanks guys
If you uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" then it will show extensions (or, unhide them, if you will).
Then you'll be able to see the full filename. It should be: update.zip
...no more, no less.
Ok guys, I did everything you guys told me to do. This is the error I get now,
E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I don't know if I'm putting them in the wrong folder or what, but I don't know why I keep getting this error.
Have you followed this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7150299&postcount=1
It should not be in a folder, just the root of your internal.
Try the 1 click root again. its hard to mess up.
