first off i spelt kernel wrong in the heading and in my original boot logo screen but doesn't matter xD anyway. Hello all, i was editing my kernel for my own liking, im not a developer or anything i just learnt simple things off little tutorials. i am not stealing work nor making stuff my own im just giving an example of something you can do.... so previously on my Sony z i had the Evo mix kernel and i hated the boot splash screen... you know the first image that pops up on boot saying "Sony" well i decided i wanted to edit that. if you do not have a graphic design program like Photoshop or gimp i suggest getting one if you want to create your own. If you want me to make you one i can create you a half decent one by your request.
I originally got this idea off a developer off this site because i complained how i didn't like the splash screen and he pulled me into this direction it took me a while to figure out how it all worked because i had no one to help me so i decided to make a tutorial for people who will have the same struggle
if you are using Photoshop to create your own dimensions of your picture must be 1920x1080 pixels (height being 1920 and width being 1080) and resolution must be at 300 otherwise it will come out as all blurry and horrible.
SAVE AS PNG FORMAT and make a back up of a PSD format aswell incase you need to edit it
- Instructions -
-Things you will need:
LogoFlasher by Olivier- ThreadXDALogoFlasher
This simple converter By Yagya Gaire (No password this time) - PNG TO RLE
Gimp or photoshop
Some sort of Custom Recovery such as TWRP or CWM
Virus scan for simple converter - virustotal
- Tutorial finally! -
Step 1 - Create your design or use one that you requested by me
Step 2- Put the PNG to RLE converter on your desktop and go into the folder
step 3- then go to "read me first" and it will have a set of instructions if you are to lazy then this is what you do
1. Put all your .PNG Files that you want to convert to .RLE into the PNG-Images folder.
2. Run image-2-rle.bat
3. What are you expecting? It's already over. Check out the RLE-Images folder for your RLE file.
step 4 - copy your logo to the "bootlogo" in Olivier's logoflasher.zip that was provided. Backup the original in case of errors. rename your RLE file to Logo now you're basically done place the Logoflasher.zip into your SD card and flash the file with a Custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKS OR DAMAGES TO YOUR DEVICE USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I did a (fake) full screen background for the default Mega’s theme, but you can do it for any image that you like.
>> Here is a usefull Tutorial about how to edit images by TheRem. <<
The defaults (Brown) Mega’s “Taskbar” and “SoftKeyBar” images for “HTC Black” theme, are named:
“HTCblack_taskbar.png” for Taskbar (UpBar) and “HTCblack_softkeybar.png” for SoftKeyBar (Down Bar).
They are under “/Windows” folder and you CAN'T replace them.
So what we do?
Its simple.
1. First of all you need a 240x320 (any format) image.
(For my example i used the default Mega's Background that is named "HTC_stwater_240_320.jpg" and you can find it under "/Windows" folder)
2. Crop it like TheRem’s Tutorial.
BUT crop both images (Taskbar’s and Shoftkeybar’s ) at 240x26 and NOT 240x18 / 240x34 as TheRem’s Tutorial.
3. Save them both as PNG (it might work for other formats too but not test it).
4. Transfer the two images to the phone.
(For my example I named images as “HTCblack_taskbar1.png” and “HTCblack_softkeybar1.png” and I put them under “/Windows” folder. But you can name them as you like and put them anywhere you like)
5a. Open a Registry Editor and head for TaskBar to: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Taskbar” open the “TaskBarThemeImage” and change the path “\Windows\HTCblack_Taskbar.png” to path that you place the image for Taskbar.
5b. For ShoftKeyBar head to: “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\SoftKeyBar” and edit “SoftKeyBarThemeImage” as above.
(For my example I swapped paths to “\Windows\HTCblack_Taskbar1.png” and “\Windows\HTCblack_softkeybar1.png” respectively)
6. When you end all these, do a soft-reset and you will get these results.

The images that you want to change are part of Manila2d (TouchFLO2.0) and not part of windows system. So you need to search @ "M2D2.0 Themes Topic" about them... Anyway the images that you want are named "hh_fw_tab_bg_fill.png" and "hh_fw_title.png" under "\Windows" Folder but i dont know yet the registry keys that allows you to replace them... so do your search @ ''M2D2 Themes'' topic and i think you ll reach your answer
Based on apk manager script I have created a script which gives ease to modify m10 files. Copy script.bat into folder where m10tools binaries exist (at location where m10decoder.exe, m10encoder.exe, etc...).

Hmmm... We need something like this impleted in apkmanager... Looks great amresh!
worked like a charm, thanks a ton amresh
Man thats great thanx!

Can't believe I haven't thanked you yet. I've been using this for about a month now, and one thing everyone should know, is this tool has an extra advantage. Contrary to the m10 Editor UI Application, this script uses straight command line which makes all of your sense 3.0 m10 images decode with the same file name every time, where as the UI will give you random file names every time. And this is way simpler
Amresh, This was an ingenious idea and I can't thank you enough!

Stock is too bright and shows too much color banding
Adjusted the gamma on the images. Made darker and colors little more vibrant
Install:
Flash threw CWR
Alternate install methods [root required]
Use the bootanimation.zip below
Place in data/local folder then reboot
no need to set permissions leave as is
this will bypass default animation and when you want to revert back simply delete from local folder and will default back to stock
one thank to me for resize

thanks and thanks again.
I felt the same way. Thank you very much, its perfect.
Yes its good and its work thanks
For those of you on MIUI like me, I'll provide the steps to install it.
1. Download the boot-file.zip containing the "bootanimation" file.
2. Extract the file and place it in system/bin, replacing the old boot animation file (make sure there is no extension at the end, just bootanimation)
3. Give it the permissions using Root Explorer or equivalent: rwx-rx-rx (rwxrxrx)
4. Download ics_tweaked.mtz and place it in sdcard/MIUI/themes
5. Reboot, and them go Settings>Themes>Customize>Boot Animation> The new animation should be there.
6. Select it, Reboot, and Enjoy!
NOTE. If it isn't there, look at all the boot animations that are there, if there is one with no preview, select that one. That should be one containing the new animation.
*DISCLAIMER* This method worked for me and results may vary.
Works flawlessly, thanks.
Great boot animation and very easy to install.

Thanks for this great animation, works like a charm
LAST UPDATED WITH NEW WALLPAPERS/SPLASH SCREENS: 01/02/2013
Hi Guys,
Just giving a little something back to XDA...
Here are some custom wallpapers/lockscreens (JPEG) and the same images in NBH format ready to be flashed as a splash screen. This will replace the screen that appears as soon as you start the phone (the one with the white background and green HTC logo). All images come in both formats and I've also bundled the CustomRUU application into the first RAR that you will need to flash the splash screens. Just download the RARs, extract and follow the instructions in the README - you don't need to be an advanced user to do this!
Download the RARs to get all the following thumbnails in full 480x800 resolution.

Thanks for downloading my wallpapers/splash screens!
These are compatible with all HD2 phones regardless
of the operating system in use.
There are 2 folders in this zip:
1.) Lockscreen and Wallpaper [JPEG]*
2.) Flashable Splash Screen [NBH]**
* To install the lockscreen wallpapers simply copy
the JPEG file(s) to your HD2 via bluetooth/USB
and set the wallpaper/lockscreen using the option
in your operating system's menu. For WP7/8 phones
sync the file(s) to your HD2 using Zune.
**To flash the boot screen move the NBH file of choice
into the same directory as the CustomRUU
application. The JPEG file with correlating name
contains the same image in case you want to
preview before flashing. Make sure there is only 1
NBH file in this directory when flashing. Turn off
your HD2. With the phone off, hold down the power
and vol- buttons until the screen with red, green
and blue stripes is displayed. Now plug your HD2
into your PC via USB. When connected propery the
word "Serial" at the bottom of your HD2 screen
will change to "USB". Now all you need to do is run
CustomRUU as an administrator (right click) and
follow the instructions to flash. Your device will
restart after 20 secs(ish) and boom! Enjoy your
new splash screen.

Hello,
I've just modded the px5 radio for my personal use, so I share it here if it can be useful to others as well. Sorry for the bad picture, it renders way better in real.
I've only tested with 1024*600 resolution.
Ideas of improvement are welcomed!

Hy m8!
Great work I was also trying to change for myself, but I gave up reverse engineering (takes too long) I am a software developer and I would appreciate, if you could share your source code with me? Background: i want to create a custom style for my old mercedes with new android head unit px5. What do you say? Or explain what to do exactly... On the other hand - promise - I will share with community too!

This is no rocket sience...
Your unit needs to be rooted!
Search for the related apps on your device, copy them to a stick.
Extract the APK with 7z and search there for the background picture in the folder "res".
Create a background picture in the same size as your screen resolution (1024x600) and name it exactly as the found background picture.
Just now use 7z to open the APK file (do not extract) move to the folder you found the background while it´s just opened in 7z and paste the new file to this folder.
Close the in 7z opened APK and copy it back to your stick.
Open the file path on your device (root rights needed), rename the original APK to may be radio.bak and copy the new one in this folder.
Change the permissions of the file back to 644.
Reboot device and you have the new background in.
This can be done with all related PNG files for the APK, as long you don´t extract it while adding the new pics.
Needs to be done after each update. So store them accordingly.
Edit:
There are different screen resolution folder to search. So have a look where you find the background related to your device.
If you don´t see any changes after reboot, you chosed the wrong folder.
