Read that. The best ROM is all about personal preference, for me, I like Omega XT GTX Themed, it's minimal, but it has all the features I want. Just browse the forum for ROM's.
MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL HSPL3 BEFORE YOU DO JACK SQUAT.

Ok was wondering if there is an Original HTC HD 2 RoM not T-Mobile one ! Since i noticed a little diff

there are loads of original roms but THEY WILL ALL BRICK YOUR PHONE,
do NOT flash any original rom to your tmous hd2.
you can only use tmous official roms, or tmous compatible cooked roms on a tmous.

I see a couple of thread like this get bashed..I suggest for you to try some of the roms until you find what suits you,its all about personal opinion and taste..They are free!!! just follow the instructions you should be good....

Exact HTC HD2 ROM? Is there any way to get it?

Hey all,
I have been reading around the forum and I know ENERGY's ROM is quite popular with the manila 2.5 like the HTC HD2. However I was wondering if there was any way to get the official HTC HD 2 ROM? The OEM version that came with the HD2 instead of one that someone made.
Sorry as I am still new to the WM community and not very familiar with ROMs and stuff like that.
Thanks!!
That energy ROM is based on Leo ROM...

I think he is asking for a much Stock-ish looking ROM.
I'd advise the OP to check out Ark's ROMs, as they tend to look very similar to stock ones. It's the one I'm currently using, and it's the most bug-free version of Manila 2.5 I've found to date. And it looks like a stock ROM.

Noob needs help please

New Questions here, old one at the bottom.
hi and thanks to everyone for your answers... you helped me a lot.
but:
I tried various 6.5 and 6.5.3 roms and found a lot of bugs in all of them... and that's not really my style. I want to go back to stock firmware 6.1 and there are not many options (or maybe i wasn't able to find them). Where can i find the Stock Firmware section or something like that, if they are unbranded even better, and if you can direct me to the latest one even better... i have installed the one from Orange in spanish meanwhile, i think it's Ver 1.57.75.3 found here. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566929 but if there are better unbranded ones i'll be very happy to install them... (how about this one: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521354).
Thanks a lot again in advance...
old Question:
Hi, i bought yesterday my new Opal and i have no idea how to update the rom to windows 6.5... I´m a bit of a perfectionist so i wanna get things right from the beginning, and i used to mod motorola phones so i understand some of the technical stuff, but htc is completely new to me.
So far, this is what i have understood:
to update:
1.- install hard_spl
2.- install custom ruu
3.- install new rom.
But i have a lot of questions on what is each one of those things and the advantages they give.
What does Hard_SPL do?
What is the Custom RUU for? (what is the RUU?)
What is the most stable and least customized rom with winmo 6.5? which rom is the most used by this forum?
What is titanium?
and last: how is the Opal unlocked? (if posible)
Mi goal is to update to winmo 6.5 but keep my phone looking as stock as possible and as stable as possible...
all the help i can get will be very appreciated...

Congrats for your Htc touch viva!
Ok now initially Htc touch viva has its official spl which would not allow your device to upgrade to custom roms. You can only upgrade to official roms. So Spl is a kind of lock To unlock that only we use Hard SPL After installing HSPL you can upgrade to custom roms.
And you understood slightly wrong because Ruu = Rom update utility its just a app which is used to upgrade your rom in your device. So u dont install that. After HSPL directly rom
And about the roms i cant say coz every one has different flavours try them all At last titanium is a new interface made by microsoft and introduced in wm 6.5 and above.
A Word of Caution....

Don't think that a particular WM 6.5.x ROM will work for your device just because it worked like a charm on somebody's device. Believe it or not, though it may be the same model ex: HTC Touch Viva T2223, there are variations depending on the country.

I want to add one thing to what freelancer said:
Imo it is not ALWAYS the best to stick with the stock version. I had branded ROM shipped with my phone, hardSPLed it and installed custom translated unbranded ROM.
Does the same thing as branded ROM did but way faster. And some features like the HTC task manager didn't work with branded rom at all. Now everything works just fine.
I agree that stock ROMs are the best/fastest, but just not if you have a branded one. It slows down your device.
Just my opinion

Lol, who said that stock is rom is best as far as about opal you should go ahead with custom roms i have seen that custom rom gives more free ram then stock. Plus task manager in stock rom that can be done in custom also the thing is the more the rom is lite the more efficiently your device will work do you know the stock rom .nbh file size is more than 100 mb whereas a normal custom rom is around 90 mb if there are many app and you can create less than 50 mb stock rom also. Wm 6.5 is perfect for opal inface wm 6.5.x also.

THE VERDICT!!!!
Custom Roms RULE!!!!!
i don't mean to disagree with you guys (you know better) but i didn't mean to say that WM6.1 v1-vx is bad but as far as WM6.5 is concerned....they have disadvantages like they are buggy and also consumes battery quite fast.
Appearance wise...WM6.5 is way ahead...but performance wise....I'll stick with WM6.1 anytime.
currently i am using WM6.1 v14 by PDAVIET it is nearly perfect!!!!
regarding differences in hardware...i was meaning the CARRIER...like Verizon, DoPoD, T-Mobile (MDA Basic), iDea (India) and so on...sorry...
regarding stockspl...mine was SPL 1.35.0000...i couldn't find any download link for that..
hey brothers i think tht opal also should have a completely cleam winmo 6.5.3 rom plxxxxxx i love it on mi friends wizard which has less ram....i know ya guys can do it...and also brother winmo is all about customising and making changes to interface wen ya want... its not only themes..it has completely different uis tht can be swithched ezily... so ya gotta try these.....i guess after trying diferent lock screens games today screens thn aftr tht rty theroms

Which ROM is the best?

Hello,
I'm really sorry to ask such a dumb question, but its really hard for me to see the advantages between the thousands of different ROMs out there. I'm still using the old 1.48 ROm version and I want to update to something new. But I don't know to which ROM?
Is there maybe something like a ranking? Like most people use this ROM, 2nd place this etc.? Which are the most popular ones? best ones?
I know this is always subjective but for the moment some hints would help me.
Thanks a lot!!
do you mean a stock rom or a cooked rom
i have xannytech evo 1.4 its good.. i have tried alot of roms but i think xannyi the best..
This one

The Skyy,
Sorry but we don't do Best Rom threads any more. The best ROM is the one that works best for you.
My advice is either to stick with the stock roms from HTC or, if you are interested in cooked roms, read the features of each ROM in the Rom Dev forum, try a few, weigh them all up then make up your own mind.
Good luck with it

Newbee to cooked Roms But Hungry

Hi all
Ive had my htc hd2 since nov on Vodafone
ive been through all the official rom releases right up till 1.72 just released on voda
but nothing has changed and i find it boring just waiting on these little fixes
I have HSPL installed
all i need is the best version of WM 6.5.3
Please please please be kind enough and point me in the right direction of good rom experience
Cheers
As people look for different things in a rom, and as we all install our own little tweaks and apps, the experience can be different for each person. Go to the threads at the top of the forum listing as these are the most current/popular and read the last 10 pages or so of posts - that will give you an idea of bugs being experienced. Look at the screenshots on the first page and then try a few for yourself to see what roms best suit your needs.
okay i hear you
I just wanted something stable but with most of the lastest featured tabs
Ive been reading just now there seem alot to choose from
hopefully the installs are as simple as the normal rom updates

No worries bud, you can try my favourite, linked in my signature below . I like these roms, but as I said roms are personal to a large extent and each chef has their ardent fans all claiming that their chefs roms are the best. The only real way to get an objective view is to try a few and decide for yourself.

I was just considering that rom - is this a 6.5.3 version ?
Theres also
two download vesions to choose from
Energy.Leo.21898.Sense2.5.Cookie.HomeTab.Apr.14.7z 168.3Mb
Energy.Leo.23557.Sense2.5.Cookie.HomeTab.Apr.14.7z 168.6Mb
The 23557 rom is a 6.5.5 rom.
23557 is WM 6.5.x

It's just a different development branch from 6.5.3. It will work on your phone - just ensure that you flash either the 2.07.50 or 2.08.50 radio otherwise the device will hang on the White HTC boot screen.

i've read lots of articles on this site. i suppose i'll need to instal another rom on my phone. i read a lot but i get little confused. i think first i have to instal HardSPL (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614) second i have to flash a radio and i can instal a rom. and on this page (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784) it says i don't need to flash a radio. which means that i just install hardspl and instal this rom... am i right?
can you guys help me what am i suppose to do... and which version of hardspl, radio and rom works well for me?
sory to ask lots of questions but i don't know enough about wm phones ( thanks for guides...
Hi, basic steps are
1. Backup your important data like contacts etc..
2. Its very IMPORTANT that you Flash HardSPL first before flashing any ROM (No worries,it only needs to be done once for you to enjoy subsequent custom ROMs). Version 2.08.HSPL is ok.
3. Browse the threads for a suitable "TMobile HD2 compatible ROM" or visit this link for comfirmed ROMs.
4. Perform a Hard reset after successfully flashing any of the ROMs
5. Enjoy!
i suggest u clear your schedule, get coffee, tea, drink(s) and visit This Link . It contains info and links to all the guides you can possibly need to push you and your device to a higher level. i wouldn't recommend trying android till you are very comfortable with flashing ROMs.
you dont need to worry about the radio just yet, because since you have a tmous phone, it already has a radio that will work with all tmous compatible roms anyway.
Well I'm gonna just say right now I'm not an expert or anything since I'm relatively new too. I'm just trying to help, I would however advise wait for a more experienced person to answer.
First, if you want to flash a ROM follow this guide for the TMOUS HD2's. It goes over how to do it, which ROMs are compatible and all that.
Yes, you do have to get HSPL (except I think there are methods when you don't, though that might just be for the international phones...). But to get HSPL you should probably use this. I don't know if it is the only thing that does it but it, from what I understand, is the most well known. It also keeps you from "bricking" your phone.
From what I understand the only time you have to flash a radio is if the ROM needs it, and the chefs will say if it needs a certain one or list ones that it works with on their ROM page. I think most of them support the radio that comes stock, though don't take my word for it. I would wait for someone else to confirm or re-explain this paragraph because I'm not completely for sure.
As for which ROM is right for you...well only you can answer that. They all are different and different ones have advantages over the others. You just gotta explore a little and see what looks nice. This is the list of ROMs that support the T-Mobile HD2 so stick to it. I don't know how up-to-date it is (meaning I don't know if there are any new ones or not) but stick to those, you can "brick" your phone otherwise.
I would however advise if you're new to WM phones to try out themes first. They are a lot safer and I don't think there is any chance of ruining your phone (the only reason I flashed mine is because I've done it with a different phone before and felt comfortable doing it). Don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing and understand all the risks that go into anything you do to your phone before you do them.
Sorry for the long post, just hope this helps a little.
Edit:
I just got double ninja'd

That's d spirit...You'll be amazed @ what the search function on XDA coughs up...Everything'll go well once u stick to d guides and TMobile compatibie ROMs & Radios.
i picked up this rom (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652649) but there is two options. 1) com5(c5) 2)com2(c2). i don't know what it means... and if want to install one of these roms do i have to flash a radio after installing hspl?
and what is the stock rom?
thanks again...
It looks like COM5 and COM2 are just different versions. COM5 offers more options it looks like though, but I'm not sure. Someone else can probably answer that a lot better than me. I am also unable to answer the radio question. Sorry.
As for stock ROM though, that is the ROM that came already on your HD2 when you got it.

I see u picked out Kumar's ROM...Click Here for a thread on the definitions and differences between COMs...And No, you won't need to flash a radio after installing HSPL or a custom ROM (Unless you are having problems connecting to your network in which case, u need 2 be careful 2 flash a radio known to work with Tmobile HD2).
Stock ROM is the original/default ROM which TMobile shipped with your device. Follow this guide and you can grab the stock ROM from here. The Stock ROM has to be re-flashed to your device if u ever have to return it to Tmobile as flashing a custom ROM voids your warranty. Grab useful links and watch video tutorials here.
Hope dis helps ya.
