Error 260

hello everyone plz i need some help
i did upgrade it into the blue manilla
the OS version is 5.2.19974 (Build 19974.1.2.8 Vincent)
now i need to go back to my original phone rom but it always give me the error code 260
i did reset my device and my PC and still the same problem occuring, so any help??

Can you give us more information thanks whats giving you the error message? did you read the recovery procedure if RoM upgrades Fail flash back to WM5 then WM6.1 using lazy tool it works for me and you can use your phone right? just flash back to what ever rom you want thats what I do can you reply Thanks and include some more information

but i discovered that the problem was that i was using windows vista , and i couldnt install any ROm on it

Hay Friends, I have a O2 XDA II PocketPC with following details:

ROM Date: 02/20/04
Radio Version: 1.08.00
Protocol Version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.165

I want to upgrade my device to latest possible version available today. Please help me how to go ahed.
I lik my device vry much, onlything, functionally its lagging far behind. Say even I cant add Google lattitude or any of .cab file bcs its not supporting so.
I'm totally new to this all & never done before but if guided I can do it.

If you download any roms: wm6.5 is the latest, but wm6/6.1 is more reliable.
And i think il post a snap of my himalaya.

Well, I came across many WM6 & WM6.1, also read reviews for the same, which is most trusted or you like to use?

Well, I all set go for my first ROM update. But just the part of precaution, I'v a query!
I gone through many threads & wiki, which helped me like tutorial.
But if suppose the new ROM update gets crash with my Himalaya, is there any way to re-jump to the existing original ROM I do have in device now?
I mean, can I bounce back to original ROM, in case of new ROM update failure?? If yes, please guide me how??

1. it will probably not go wrong
if you list all the spec of your computer and the equipment that you have for your himalaya it would give me a clearer idea about upgrading for you.
2.Its ok it keeps me busy! my teacher has gave me 3 htc voxes to fix in the past. anyway.
a little story.
When i got my himalaya in march this year i was chufed at what it could do then i discoverd that the rom was out of date and that was why i couldnt install much. Then i found this place. I read up on some threads on updating and i saw it was possible. So i nervously followed the guide because i found that if anything went wrong the device could be rendered unuseable. But... I went ahead and flashed it and it worked. And the first rom i ever flashed was athers windows mobile 6 ultimate edition. Since then i have not yet found a rom as brilliant as stable as it.
so when upgrading things can go wrong. but dont be reluctant to flash a new rom.
and you would have to do a bit of research if you decided you wanted the original rom back.
btw how old are you?
ONE MORE THING. I WILL LOOK FOR THE ORIGINAL ROM FOR YOU TONIGHT.

Long time I'm using O2 XDA II & loves it badly, it's a last gift from one of my friend from Singapore who's no more.
I'v a HP 614c gadget & if succeed with this , I'l like to have some R & E with that too, in fact that's require on that.

Whats your opinion, can I use this for bounce back to previous version, in case of any problem?

Y'day I tried to do the process but I fell to upload Hard SPL (BTW I'm going for C_shekhsr's ROM)
I followed noobs guide, update the USB driver for vista, then went to bootload the device & try to force Hard SPL.
Following all given instructions also its showing connection error (Error 260, 264) & process stops, but in reality everything is well connected & correct.
Well, when Hard SPL program executing, I observe, it also not showing my old version @Upload (second stage of confirmation).
Is there any special process for O2 XDA II hard SPL & on vista os??
I followed all guides well; What do you think may b going wrong?

Hard SPL? whats that? i never had to use it.
regarding error no connection:
go to task manager and make sure something a long the lines of microsoft usb sync or something is installed. and then disallow all the connection settings in windows mobile device center.
oh and if it still doesnt work try it without hard spl because i didnt use it. and it works on 7 and xp.
oh and the rom im using now is WinMoB_6.1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109_-_Lite_WWE.

Well, the OS you have mentioned, is that of Ather? or from which source?
Y'day I tried Asia CE2003 (Upgraded), & that worked.
Well, in Bootloader, the device connectivity is a main issue occurring with me & I'm failing to understand the reason. I mean is this bcs of Vista or else?

got a major problem now ive tried to update to 1.48 but it crashed now i get a warning traingle on start up,and can go into bootloader screen and it says upgrade rom code error please try again???someone please help.i hope i havent bricked my phone

Is your HD2 branded? (bought it in combination with a contract?)

Have you tried to hard reset your phone to see if the old rom boots up again?
If it does not then you might want to reflash your existing rom onto your phone using the SD card method (look at the threads at the top of the Rom Development page to find what you are looking for).
If it works and you are still keen to upgrade the rom you need to read the threads on using either the Goldcard or HardSPL methods to upgrade.
Come back and let us know how you got on.

hi mate i was having the exact same probs as the chap in the hd2 bricked thread,same messages etc and stopping at 9% i took there advice and reflashed the hpsl again which has worked a treat,i'm now a little dubious bout trying to upgrade as i don't fancy bricking it.
ive emailed htc to see why i cant upgrade from 1.43 to 1.48 seems odd it says my phone isnt suitable.

OK, wait until you hear back from them. However if you are now up and running and have installed HardSPL, I think you will find that flashing a new radio on its own might help solve your problems.
I think if you look at the thread you were referring to (this one...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618084), IIRC, MysticGenius runs through a procedure for doing this that helped him sort out a similar problem.

PS: Lesson learned here though is to read exhaustively on the topics on here BEFORE jumping in as fixing problems later can be both time consuming, if you are lucky, and a pain in the rear. As for that horrible sick feeling you get when you think you have bricked £500 worth of phone....wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!

At the moment I cant sync my phone at all.....
Yesterday I lost my touch pro so this comes at a very bad time
I searched but coulnd find a working solution, hope you guys can help me.

Hi i experienced this before with a cooked rom, the only way is a hard reset, and do not change the date and flash another rom

Lost my pictures but ok my stupid idea to go to custom roms

Did you use the volDeus Transparent bars and HQ BG Tweak. If so a few people have been experiencing this due to a TimeBomb in some of the shell32.exe and aygshell.dll files. You need to get the correct unpatched versions of these files from your base rom.

I used an Energy rom for about 3 months I guess.. Cant remember the build etc. Seems that I have to flash more often

Hi, I'm going out of my mind trying to get to 2.1 but I need to update to the .66 from February.
I'm using Windows 7 32bit and once or twice I have managed to get the phone to start to update but it comes back with error 170. I've tried everything I can think of. Downloaded the drivers and updated but in Device Manager I have either 'HTC Dream ADB Composite Interface' or in disk drives 'HTC Android Phone USB'.
Is there any way I can boot the update from my SD card?
Any help will be fantastic.

I'm having this exact same problem, tried updating the drivers but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the one i like the most by far,

Can I just clarify that if I follow the www.theunlockr.com method by rooting the phone I can then load the official .66 firmware? If this is the way to do it, where can I get that firmware from?
To be honest, I'm not wanting to put on any other custom firmwares and I want to update to the HTC official 2.1 firmware only.

No no rooting was only to use custom roms,
How ever if it comes to it flash to another rom and then back to .66
First you need to get orange RRU ROM version 2.73.61.5 from
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=675
Flash this and on first boot you should get a message to advise of a update,
No need to finish setting the phone up but go a head with the download,
Once downloaded it will flash a new radio and reboot,
Then you should have .66
I was still trying to get 2.1 from orange last night,
Ever time i asked it to check for updates it said it was up to date all ready yet still on 15
Back to using a custom rom again today,
Hope your able to get sorted soon folks.

Sorted. Updated it with my mates laptop running Vista. Updating to 2.1 now. THANK GOD!!!
