Getting my XDA updated!

Hey, first post, n first i wanna say thanks! The unlock app worked a treat, i now have 3 XDA v1's to sell, and one for my self, all unlocked!
So, onto my problem...
I have a plain (unlocked) XDA which ive been using religiously, and i want to update it to ppc2003. So i have 2 questions.
1. o2 have the update software on their website. Is it an upgrade to 2003?
2. If the above is a big NO. Where can i purchase the upgrade?
One little niggle tho, if i update it to 2003, will i lose the 'unlocked' status on the phone? Or is it unlocked for good?
Reference stuff so you guys dnt have to ask:

1: I personally don't know this, someone else can answer im sure.
2: You can get the update here (cook your own ROM) http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Finally I don't think it will be relocked after being unlocked, but again the experts can answer better than I. Good Luck.

Okay, so the second link gives me all these options to make roms. Thing is, i have no idea what to pick for version etc once ive picked pocketpc2003.
Anybody able to shed some light?

EDIT: Bit the bullet, updating now using what i THINK is the right rom. Will let you know.
EDIT: Seemed to work ok. For some reason tho, on every reboot, i get some error bout an app not being compatible with ppc2003. So im rebuilding a virgin ROM and will go from there.
EDIT: Same problem, this rom has nadda but a new bootscreen, today screen, and the 'reg-hacks'. I'm all out of ideas.
'This program only works with Windows Mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)

Its one of the reg hacks that is the problem, cant remember which one though.

This should cause the problem. Or delete manually the file wm03hotfix from the startup of your device....

Deathnoise 1.11.171 ROM. Bluetooth patched, camera fixed. Radio 1.04

Hi,
Here's my own modification. I did id for my own purpose, and decided to share it with you.
As a Base, I choosed 1.11.171 version of O2 ROM.
I stripped it from o2 stuff, left only necessary files. I added extra bluetooth profiles and left bluetooth and camera patch from new version (pug's version doesn't have it, despite what he says in his posts on this forum)
I also added Radio 1.04 from Pug's release.

hmm. it's working again.. i think that hey had some minor technical issues. should be ok.

Is there improved radio strength, stability? What does .171 improve?

yes
radio was taken from pug's release (162).. which is good, because it's more stable than official 1.0
apart from this, there's patched bluetooth driver, that was officialy released by o2. _THE SAME_ that previously was circulating around this forum.
i merged it with extra profiles taken from previous releases, because some people experienced a tiny set of options with this upgrade.
camera fix was also merged from the new, official 171 release. dunno what it does, because i'm not using this function
overall, the stability is the same because main rom version is the same. it doesn't change anything in windows core. changes were made only to the extended rom. that's it.
i have many applications (including startup ones, like: spb pocketplus, resco explorer, skype, agile messenger, etc.)
i'm using my rom for a week and I, personally, didn't experienced ANY hangs or resets. it's working like a charm.

Sure I will loose many programs installed and lot of time if it suspends as my old one...

I've got a questions regarding upgrading my O2
ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date : 01/27/05
Radio version: 1.00.00
Protocol version: 1337.39
ExtROM version: 1.11.923 WWE
can I apply the ROM which you compile ?
does it means that I'll lose all of my apps settings then :-|

sure you can, and yes you'll lose everything (like after hard-reset)

My Alpine is dead
Yesterday I tried to update my alpine to this new Rom, but dissaster happened.
Maupgrade recognized my device and my version, and I told the program to begin with the update.
After more than 3 hours the scrren was blank with usb v1.01.
I took the pda and trie to hard reset it but it has been imposible.
Now the screen only says serial v1.01 or usb v1.01
If i try to re-run the maupgrade it only says that is checking the information of my device and stays like that for hours.
what can I do to have my PDA back?????

if you still have the screen saying serial v1.01 or usb v1.01, your device isn't bricked. maybe try other rom upgrade

Still No Luck
I have tries to install again the same ROM but there is no way of doing it. Maupgrade freezes saying "checking infromation from your device".
Any other ideas??
Do you know where could i find an spanish rom for my qtek 2020i, or any other Rom that I could try??

Dude, this happens sometimes. Take it out of cradle and then take the battery out. Re-insert the battery again and put it in the cradle and then re-run the maupgrade.

I have solved the problem!!!
I have tried doing it on a windows xp based computer and everything worked fine.
Has anybody had the same problem with windows vista???
Does any body know how can I find an spanish rom???

Help ! Three Colour Screen...

I'm out of my depth and an need of some help to get my X7500 back into working order !
I upgraded my machine to AP4, carefully following the nicely documented instructions, and it worked a treat. The new interface looked great. However, for some reason my GPS application (i-GO Europe) wouldn't work at all. After searching the threads and not finding anything there, I thought it would be best to return to my old ROM version - the official HTC Advantage WM6 Upgrade. Naively I thought that this would be just as simple as running the Advantage_HTC_WWE_2.21.405.2_1.50.00.00_Ship executable - but I was wrong ! The update failed, and now I am left with a PPC with a pretty three colour screen...

Is there any way that I can recover my device from this state ?

You have spl3.5
very easy to solve
just plug your athena to the PC and install a rom for SPL3.5 , there are several good ones, since AP4 didn't work for you and I cannot remember if AP4 can be installer from boot loader, the easy thing should be install the latest Michiprima rom (SPL3.5 not 1.20)
if you wish to install a original rom in the future remember to use spl downgrader to go back to SPL1.20
As always take memory cards from the device before playing and please read

Just reflash with a MICHY rom,any will do, but if you want to go back to SPL 1.2 then use THIS
However try Michy's latest r6.0 it is very good

I thought I had to have an ActiveSync connection to load a new ROM onto my device. But you were right - very easy to solve.

Tried the Michy R6.0 and it does look good. Still having problems with my GPS application though, so might have to go back to the original. Will play around with this one in the meantime.

Unfortunately not !
I ended up loading AP3, and my GPS application worked on that. Now I've gone back to the official WM6 ROM. When I have some time, I might reload the AP4 ROM and try the new versions of the radio - but I need a stable device at the moment.

Just an update for those interested. I'm now running AP4 with i-GO happily running away. Not sure I needed to update the Radio version, but you were right - I had to turn off the HTC HOME in Today.
Thanks for the help from those more experienced. It was greatfully received and, although I haven't had time to really use the upgraded device in anger yet, I am currently very happy with it.
Just one last thing. Have you got a link for the said 'michys large htc home cab', as that would be the icing on the cake to have that lovely Home available.

Rom beta test version expired...

Yesterday my phone started to show the following message:

At the moment I cant sync my phone at all.....
Yesterday I lost my touch pro so this comes at a very bad time
I searched but coulnd find a working solution, hope you guys can help me.

Where did you get this ROM from? Or was it already on your phone when you bought it? Where did you buy the phone from?

Hi i experienced this before with a cooked rom, the only way is a hard reset, and do not change the date and flash another rom

Lost my pictures but ok my stupid idea to go to custom roms

Did you use the volDeus Transparent bars and HQ BG Tweak. If so a few people have been experiencing this due to a TimeBomb in some of the shell32.exe and aygshell.dll files. You need to get the correct unpatched versions of these files from your base rom.

I used an Energy rom for about 3 months I guess.. Cant remember the build etc. Seems that I have to flash more often

Yeah, the MS time-bomb must be removed by the chef.

so i got a htc 8525 att Cingular and the OS was version 5
so i came to this site and upgraded it to version 6..then 6.1
i didn't need much but i still went for version 6.5.5 alpha and now the phone only starts then it says designed for windows mobile 6.5.5 and it stays like that

2- if that doesn't work, try hard-reset the phone,

You really should be using the latest Hard SPL, and you should be reading the threads here that instruct how to successfully flash your device...
