Hello XDA-Users.
Now i´ve got my new internet connection and i think it´s time to share it with you. I set up a ROMkitchen for the good old XDA I.
It might me an alternative to the kitchen of Yorch.
In the moment i would say my kitchen is not perfect, but who is perfect?
The workspaces are limited, since i´m only using an good old PII with 266Mhz and 64MB RAM. Maybe in the future i will upgrade it.
Also there is a limitation in "Opening Hours". It will be available from Mo. - Fr, 8pm - 8am and all of the weekend. Timezone is Europe / Berlin.
If you´re out of time you will see it soon, with an different layout.....
If there are problems, hints, or wishes concernign the kitchen, please write me an PM.

The software are the demo-Version, so you need to registrate dem to use it unlimited....

That´s what i meant with poor Hardware.
Just in teh moment i´ve got:
Load Averages 3.66 3.81 3.03
I think it will be better using an faster processor and more RAM.
If anyone have better hardware and a fine Internetconnection, I will help to transfer this Kitchen to him.
I preffer an Debian Linux to install it....

wow how did u manage to fit Voice Command and Calligrapher in there,, not sure if they work as i an still cooking mine (as i type) but when i chech/uncheck the s/w it does not affect the rom usage???

If those file sizes are correct they wont fit into the available space, I have chosen the voice command and the available space stays the same, it will be interesting to see what kind of it produces. Regarding the tomtom, how will the reg code work if its in rom, and also how will it be affected when updates from tomtom have to be applied.

also no point in putting tomtom gps in as when you come to update it you wont be able to meaning a new rom will have to be cooked without this in
cant get connect 4 or snake to work even with the runtime file things they just dont load up

If you want to add software that requires a key, you have to add the complete "group" firts. if you don`t select "add Software that needs to register" the sotware won´t be added, and because of this, the required space won´t change....

I just cooked my own rom, and added GPRS-Monitor and Pocketplus. Pocketplus is installed correctly, including the today-plugin, GPRS-Monitor works, but without the today-plugin. Is there anybody out who can tell me how to get the plugin?

All this ROMS are working with all the devices. Difference between Europe and USA are the radio stacks, that ar not included with the ROM...

Here's my own modification. I did id for my own purpose, and decided to share it with you.
As a Base, I choosed 1.11.171 version of O2 ROM.
I stripped it from o2 stuff, left only necessary files. I added extra bluetooth profiles and left bluetooth and camera patch from new version (pug's version doesn't have it, despite what he says in his posts on this forum)
I also added Radio 1.04 from Pug's release.

radio was taken from pug's release (162).. which is good, because it's more stable than official 1.0
apart from this, there's patched bluetooth driver, that was officialy released by o2. _THE SAME_ that previously was circulating around this forum.
i merged it with extra profiles taken from previous releases, because some people experienced a tiny set of options with this upgrade.
camera fix was also merged from the new, official 171 release. dunno what it does, because i'm not using this function
overall, the stability is the same because main rom version is the same. it doesn't change anything in windows core. changes were made only to the extended rom. that's it.
i have many applications (including startup ones, like: spb pocketplus, resco explorer, skype, agile messenger, etc.)
i'm using my rom for a week and I, personally, didn't experienced ANY hangs or resets. it's working like a charm.

sure you can, and yes you'll lose everything (like after hard-reset)
My Alpine is dead
Yesterday I tried to update my alpine to this new Rom, but dissaster happened.
Maupgrade recognized my device and my version, and I told the program to begin with the update.
After more than 3 hours the scrren was blank with usb v1.01.
I took the pda and trie to hard reset it but it has been imposible.
Now the screen only says serial v1.01 or usb v1.01
If i try to re-run the maupgrade it only says that is checking the information of my device and stays like that for hours.
what can I do to have my PDA back?????

if you still have the screen saying serial v1.01 or usb v1.01, your device isn't bricked. maybe try other rom upgrade
Still No Luck
I have tries to install again the same ROM but there is no way of doing it. Maupgrade freezes saying "checking infromation from your device".

Dude, this happens sometimes. Take it out of cradle and then take the battery out. Re-insert the battery again and put it in the cradle and then re-run the maupgrade.
I have solved the problem!!!
I have tried doing it on a windows xp based computer and everything worked fine.
Has anybody had the same problem with windows vista???

All available ROMS are also listed in the XPERIA ROM LIBRARY too. Some of them already have FTP mirrors

what are the improvements in this new rom you guys? i'm hesitant to flash bc i'm too lazy to backup all my junk... unless of course this rom has some pretty sweet improvements. judging by the other r2a roms though, there are only minor bug fixes and slight speed improvement... if it's worth it though, you guys let me know

EDITED: As of JAN 31 2009, these ROMS (UK, FR, SPAIN) ARE NOT "officialy released", thus SEUS WILL NOT UPDATE
will restoring from spb backup after flashing to this new rom be o.k.? or will i have to manually install everything again? i'm asking because of the system files being backed-up as well, i dont want to overwrite anything from the new rom. thanks

am trying to update my rom with seus but seus is displaying "the software in your phone is up-to-date" and theres no option to "continue anyway"..

New FW generic uk is crap
I have just made the flash and played around for 30 minutes... its all crap! It is slower now, no real improvements that I could find. Besides those updates of radio, browser (still NO flash support!), etc.
Nothing of value to me. The camera still sucks big time, still NO zoom for 3MP and the quality still bad.
Again, I could not find any real improvement and/or feature enhancement. Too bad, waited and waited... just to be disappointed again by SE. Perhaps its time after all to move on to a different brand.
michaelthemage I updated to the new r2a rom too, and after like 2 hrs i was about too flash back my old rom, but then i tried to soft reset, and it worked a little bit better, then using it for a couple of days, the performance increased and became stable, i'm most satisfied with the media panel that now feels much quicker, i can now browse my images as fast as i want, the system became overall faster and snappier, but it's really weird that the performance increased gradually,
So if I were you i'd give it 2 days before flashing back !
P.S i wanted to know if the now released uk rom will be the same as the one officialy released by SE or if there is any chance SE could improve it till the official release date ???

your no idiot, just as you stated: a noob
1. yes
2. yes, because its official rom. hard-spl is needed to unlock so you can flash custom roms or perhaps stock roms with other languages.
3. rename it to ruu_signed.nbh or Kovsimg.nbh if you do from sd-card
Just did the update, SD card method worked fine, it lasted only 10 minutes. Unfortunately I have a 210 MB sprite backup file, so I needed to delete some custom files and choose not to restore some unnecessary ones before the restore. If you are using Sprite Backup too, be sure to choose Level 2 as the restore option (Level 1 did not work fully, unfortunately).

Someone cooking R2A UK ROM already?
I was gonna switch to the iphone before this rom, but now......
Some improvements i have noticed:
1: Boot time is much faster.
2: iGo08 now takes about 10 seconds to load up instead of over 30!
3: Infact pretty much all programs load much faster than the previous rom.
4. PanelSwitching is faster.
5: Phone signal is much better and more consistant (im on 3UK)
6. General Speed improvements all round.
Not fixed/worse:
1. On the sony ericsson panel i still cant get weather updates on my city/town (Doncaster UK) even though its a city i can select.
2. Media Panel now does not detect photos in my storage card stored in folder my documents/mypictures. Now previously taken pictures have to be stored in my pictures in the storage card root directory.
Overall a very good update, im impressed, looks like i have an iphone to sell!

Have been reading up about flashing my touch HD for the last week now, and am pretty ready to flash my Orange HTC. I will most likely go down the USPL method.. but my question is trying to find a 1.19.61.1 WWE Orange original Rom in case I need to go back?
In the wiki it has a rar file for it, but it does not seem to llok official or tested? Does anyone know how I can either back mine up? and possibly post it here? or is anyone in the process of getting a RUU file for Orange 1.19 soon?

that file on the wiki is the signed nbh file
it has to be used with the custumRUU thing
ive not tested so i cant tell you for sure

I'd find it useful too, although I've always flashed new ROMs even if I didn't have a way back to a stock ROM

If you use the one in the wiki you will be fine. I've tried and tested this.
flashed to dutty v2 for now, thought I would wait til the bugs are ironed out for the latest one.. But anyone got all the settings for Orange? I can not get onto Orangeworld anymore as it does not think I have an Orange phone.. have searched and found a few cabs but they did not seem to work.. if anyone has the internet connection settings that would be great..

Have you tried Rabdo's Orangeworld fix ????? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316763
Same problem here, flashed from orange 1.19 to Davideuk V-2 Topaz and am now denied access to orangeworld. Tried the 1.5 settings and fix from Rabdo linked to above but made no difference. In HD Tweak there is a section to select stock HD id, Orange HD id or another (I forget which). This didn't work either
ended up calling them up and getting all the settings. told them to addd touchHD settings to the web though so hopefully they will do this. If i get a mo, will write settings down here.. thanks for finding the rabdo cab, will try it next time I flash!

If you download any roms: wm6.5 is the latest, but wm6/6.1 is more reliable.

Well, I all set go for my first ROM update. But just the part of precaution, I'v a query!
I gone through many threads & wiki, which helped me like tutorial.
But if suppose the new ROM update gets crash with my Himalaya, is there any way to re-jump to the existing original ROM I do have in device now?
I mean, can I bounce back to original ROM, in case of new ROM update failure?? If yes, please guide me how??

if you list all the spec of your computer and the equipment that you have for your himalaya it would give me a clearer idea about upgrading for you.
2.Its ok it keeps me busy! my teacher has gave me 3 htc voxes to fix in the past. anyway.
a little story.
When i got my himalaya in march this year i was chufed at what it could do then i discoverd that the rom was out of date and that was why i couldnt install much. Then i found this place. I read up on some threads on updating and i saw it was possible. So i nervously followed the guide because i found that if anything went wrong the device could be rendered unuseable. But... I went ahead and flashed it and it worked. And the first rom i ever flashed was athers windows mobile 6 ultimate edition. Since then i have not yet found a rom as brilliant as stable as it.
so when upgrading things can go wrong. but dont be reluctant to flash a new rom.
and you would have to do a bit of research if you decided you wanted the original rom back.
btw how old are you?

Y'day I tried to do the process but I fell to upload Hard SPL (BTW I'm going for C_shekhsr's ROM)
I followed noobs guide, update the USB driver for vista, then went to bootload the device & try to force Hard SPL.
Following all given instructions also its showing connection error (Error 260, 264) & process stops, but in reality everything is well connected & correct.
Well, when Hard SPL program executing, I observe, it also not showing my old version @Upload (second stage of confirmation).
Is there any special process for O2 XDA II hard SPL & on vista os??
I followed all guides well; What do you think may b going wrong?
Hard SPL? whats that? i never had to use it.
regarding error no connection:
go to task manager and make sure something a long the lines of microsoft usb sync or something is installed. and then disallow all the connection settings in windows mobile device center.
oh and if it still doesnt work try it without hard spl because i didnt use it. and it works on 7 and xp.
oh and the rom im using now is WinMoB_6.1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109_-_Lite_WWE.

Well, he flaged Hard SPL as compulsory pre requirement.
Well, the OS you have mentioned, is that of Ather? or from which source?
Y'day I tried Asia CE2003 (Upgraded), & that worked.
Well, in Bootloader, the device connectivity is a main issue occurring with me & I'm failing to understand the reason. I mean is this bcs of Vista or else?

just try it without the hardspl thing cause it worked for me.

Well, is it possible to install FM Radio on O2 XDA II? I tried the same from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479572 but saying not related application after installing cab.
Do you have any clue for same??

The FM radio is a good idea but dont think it will work.
Are you staying with that dark rom from ather or you still going for the C_shekhar one?
