[Q] Bricked phone? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I installed clockwork's rom manager and installed clockwork recovery with it. I rebooted into the recovery image and selected choose zip to flash. My phone just rebooted to the normal image (Smoki 0.78). I tried installing smoki 0.8 with rom manager but I got an error telling me that I cannot have spaces in the path. I then selected reboot to recovery twice because nothing happened the first time. My phone showed "htc magic" and kept rebooting. I can't go into recovery or fastboot. I wasn't even doing anything that changed the spl or radio. Is there anyway to repair my phone?

Briked mine the same only option is jtag box.soldering a connection to phone circuitboard and reflashing nand chip.

This happened to me. It happens when you run out of ram during the flsahing process. I was never able to get clockwork recovery on my phone using rom manager. I was able to to repeatedly flash the Amon Ra recovery by repeatedly flashing it through rom manager to get it back up. Good Luck

You just need to flash the proper recovery image (Ion/MyTouch).
If it doesn't boot take the battery out, hold MENU, put the battery back in and power the device back on while still holding menu.
The device should boot.
Then once it boots try flashing the recovery again. Sometimes the first flash doesn't take. It seems to remove the old recovery but fails to flash the new one. Which is why the phone seems to get stuck at the splash screen.
If all else fails then use the Goldcard to get back to your eng spl, flash your recovery (it should be stored in the clockwork directory of your sdcard) then flash the stock spl back.
Keep in mind though that this probably won't work if you have not flashed the clockwork recovery before because you won't be able to restore your nandroid backup.

Clockwork Recovery + ROM Manager

Hi Guys,
I have a 32B HTC Magic and have installed, via ROM Manager, ClockworkMod Recovery v. 2.5.0.1. However, when I select "Reboot into Recovery" I cannot get in - the Red Voda loading screen hangs forever (I need to battery pull to boot back into donut). Also, when I reboot my phone and hold down Home + Power, I get the stock recovery with only 4 options.
What am I doing wrong?
I believe I need to get into recovery mode to flash (1) the new radio to run CM6 and (2) the SPL (kind of like a bootloader?).
Thanks, I'd appreciate any help I can get on this!
If you can get me up and running on CM6, I'll gladly show my appreciation via the donation page.

How'd you get CM6 on your Magic without the new radio or SPL?
Same problem here, "Reboot into recovery" does not work more.
When I try use it, red vodafone screen enter in do forever
Some solution?
I would try to load amonra instead of clockwork. Clockwork gave me the same problem however amonra was flawless. You can install amonra with the rom manager. Hope this helps.

You can't get into bootloader at all?
If you can't get into bootloader or recovery then yes... you are bricked.

[Q] ClockWorkMod will install but freezes after Go Go Go

I'm unable to get CWM to boot past the Go Go Go text.
My phone had a bad screen and was replaced by a repair shop here locally. But before fixing it I though the ROM may have been bad. I flashed the ROM back using CWM as usual and I could see the ROM load but due to the bad screen I couldn't test it. After getting it back from the repair shop I couldn't get it to boot.
Here are the specifics on what I've done:
1. Ran Task29 via the HD2 NAND Toolkit in bootloader (installed correctly, powered off and reset back into Bootloader).
2. Installed HSPL 2.08
Installed MAGLDR Repartition (250 MB) in bootloader (shows 100% status bar and restarts and now populates to the MAGLDR list).
3. Select the USB Flasher option and connect my phone (displays USB...USB). Select MAGLDR Update Recovery, this then populates a new screen but when I click a button to start the install it freezes at Pushing Image Flasher ...
I've tried connecting the phone in Bootloader and launching it again and it shows that daemon (sp?) is not active on a port, starts it but nothing else happens.
I've also tried running DAF.exe (v1.13) and it will see the phone, update to 100% (shows Splash Screen) and power cycles, but when I try to launch CWM it freezes after Go Go Go.
I've switched computers (Win 2000 and Window 7), swapped USB ports (computer recognizes when connected), tried swapping my sdcard with my working one, hard reset button, Up/Down together in Bootloader and reset to default, even manually added the zimage/initrd.gz to the directory, but so far nothing.
Is there something with the new screen that could cause problems? I think that it's working correctly as the HTC status bar and splashscreen come up when loading MAGLDR but I've not been able to actually test the touchscreen since I can't boot Recovery?
Any ideas? Is there a way to manually add Recovery to a phone without going through the DAF.exe or HD2tools?

ROM Manager can be used only by CLK Bootloader users, using it will mess with your CWM installation. I remember i had installed ROM Manager and CWM once from market and used it and it messed my CWM, since then i use CWM only by accesing through MAGLDR, i'd advise You that too.
First: Magldr Update Recovery is to update MAGLDR, not to flash CWM, i read it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14030019&postcount=1
Second: SPL is not deleted by Task29, no need to flash it again.
Third: Why do you need to repartition your phone? What ROM you want to flash?
You must also flash a proper RADIO if you don`t have it.

[Q] Cant enter bootloader, ad recovery freezes

Hey all i have a "small" problem with my HD2. I had a Hyperdroid on it for about 4 months with no problems. Suddenly yesterday it just freezed. After reset nothing changed. I cant get to the bootloader but the mgldr 1,13 starts normally and can choose all the options on the screen. When i tried to do Ad recovery, phone freezed at GO GO GO. Did anyone had a similar problem with his HD2 ?
The only thing that you can do is to use hd2 toolkit and reflash magldr
