I am trying to mod my phone to Cyanogen. I have used AndRoot to root the phone, Titanium Backup to back up the data and apps and ROM Manager to Flash the recovery. My problem is that my phone will not go into recovery mode at all.
I have tried to back-up the current ROM using ROM Manager... I have tried to install a custom ROM with ROM Manager with both create back-up and without... I have even tried to use the "hold home and power" option to boot my phone into recovery... Regardless of what I try my phone freezes on the bright green MyTouch splash screen and never gets past that point. I have waited 40 minutes before and it never changed. I end up having to take the battery out in order to get it to start again. It acts as if I have no recovery mode for the phone.
How can I get my phone to go into recovery mode?

When i boot into recovery mode it looks all normal (home and power). I can move up and down to highlight things but when it comes to selecting them the middle select button won't select them. What is up??
Update: I installed it but it was stuck on TATTOO boot. I have factory restored and currently waiting for it to go into setup
Have i bricked my phone as it isn't booting past TATTOO
Did u make a nandroid backup or wasn't this possible also?
I would say download Original HTC ROM from htcpedia and try to flash this one (it's a setup file which you just have to execute from your PC, which then tries to flash the stock HTC ROM...cross your fingers that it'll work...:/

You need to use green call button.
I have tried a few tutorials to install ROMS. I worked out i have to use the green call button a while ago. I use the Nandroid backup but i can't seem to flash any ROM. I couldn't use OpenEclair 1.3, AzusaROM and Fyodor and non work. Something doesn't seen right
I tried installing the Fyodor rom again and it just hangs still. I did a Nandroid backup (my phone worked as i did the phone install ROM) and wiped the phone to factory reset. Then i Flashed from .ZIP file and restarted it. What have i done wrong? I can't load ANY rom.
Edit: I tried the Azusa ROM again and it has loaded to the point where you can see the full picture of the girl in the picture. I don't want to use this rom but this is the only one that works... So far
Edit 2: I have Azusa working Fine. But it is not what i desire.
Any assistance is appreciated.
I rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...
pull the battery out this happened to me before... pull it out and go into recovery mode ... first download on your pc 1.0 baseband .. then while in recovery load that into your sd...then install it to your phone... that will take your phone back to when you first got it out of the box... after that load up baseband 2.0 then root then raider
You could also try booting into cwm recovery and do a wipe data/cache
Did you get past the boot screen?
I am also stuck on the boot screen.
With some advising to pull the battery I did so. It did allow me to boot to recovery and I restored the backup I had taken. I am back up and running as if nothing had happened. I will revisit flashing the radio to the right version and trying the rom again soon.
Ok so this use to work like 2 days ago, havent changed anything on on my phone.
For some reason when I try to boot into clockwork recovery, the phone going through the boot process once and shuts off, then trys again a second time and it just boots the normal way into the system.
I tried reflashing clockwork and it said it was succesful, but it still keeps doing the same thing.
any help is appreciated.
My current ROM is-Ice Glacier
Make sure you aren't plugged into a charger. Go into ROM Manager and click reboot into recovery. If that doesn't work plug the USB back in and turn the phone off. I have mine set to charge only and it boots automatically into recovery without me doing anything. See if that works.
HTC Glacier Running CyanogenMod 6.2
nope does not work, i have tried every method i could find on the web
turn phone off... hold vol down press power... select recovery when the menu comes up
Hello, sorry if this isn't in the right section but I can't post this thread in the Q&A since I made an acoount. I recently got my G2 today and I attempted to install cyanogenmod 7. It worked but I didn't get Google Apps or Marketplace and I couldn't get it from ROM Manager because my ROM Manager was outdated. I then attempted to go back to the stock ROM by going into the Clockwork Mod Recovery and loading a back-up there...that's where I screwed up. I went into the Advanced Restore and selected Restore Boot. I picked the only option available since I thought it would set my G2 to it's original setting before the cyanogenmod install. I turn it off and when I turn it back on, viola, it's now stuck on the HTC Boot screen. I've tried to go into the recovery mode to set it back to factory settings but doing the "volume up and power button" combination isn't working. It just vibrates three times and the led stays lit with nothing on the screen. Is there any hope fore me or did I mess myself out of a really cool phone. Thank you for any help. Please note I'm really new to Android and ADBs and this stuff but I'll do my best to learn.
Use vol down + power to get to hboot, then select recovery.
vol up + power is for Qualcomm download mode, which is unusable for us.
You havn't messed up your phone, just flashing a new rom (or even compatible kernel) will get it back up and running.

hi all
i recently got my phone rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070) using this method for the gingerbread stock i dont remember which step but its for rooting gingerbread...after successfully rooting phone i wanted to make a backup of my nandroid...that seem like a process...the recovery mode didnt have backup/restore option...so i was in the rom manager app and changed the flash recovery model (its the very last one on the rom manager) after doing that, it went into reboot but never leaves the "samsung" screen....so i took the battery out and was able to get into the recovery holding down both up/down and power button...and did a backup of current rom (stock)...and then select to reboot which still stays onto the "samsung" screen...so i am stuck and i dont know what to do anymore...or is a simple flashing a stock rom would fix it?

odin back to stock, reroot, ditch rom manager, and make sure your getting into cwm 2.5 red recovery for performing a nandroid backup.
