I've noticed that some of my notifications will sometimes (yay for difficult problems to diagnose) add a sort of clicking/crackling noise (like audio clips) at the end of sound. I have noticed this with 2 audio files, and they did not do it before I updated to 2.2 (I did the manual update found earlier this week).
So if you can imagine... it sounds like:
*beep* ... *click/crack*
Anyone got any ideas? (the audio files have no click/crack at the end of the files). Only started happening once I updated to 2.2
Thanks for any and all help,
Justin
some other info that may be worth mentioning:
sound from video/music sounds normal
the sound screw up seems to be only for custom sounds
thx again for any help

hello everyone,
i FINALLY got my bt headset working and now im able to listen to mp3 in stereo quality
but the quality is a really big disappointment! During the playback there is some kind of a noise in the background, its hard to describe how it sounds, but its aweful certainly and makes the listening to music painful! it only happens in certain sound frequencys, especially those where there is a human voice.
I have no problem with bass, or instrumentals only. The hardware buttons for forward / back and so on works fine, there is some stuttering from time to time, i can bear that. But that background noise is unbearable.
What might be the problem? did I forget to install some protocol? Or does the motorola just suck? (hardware problem?)
I would be glad if someone can come up with an answer!
ok,
let me clarify about the noise: its a high frequent sharp sound, just ANNOYING!
Dumb question : you have checked the audio files are otherwise good ? It sounds similar to a 'cooked' mp3 file.
hey, i did check the audio files, and they are fine!
I just found out that it is a common problem having the high pitch noise while listening to mp3 via bluetooth.
After reading this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=968791#post968791
I tried out the registry hacks and it DID NOT help! Whenever I tried to add the key:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Bluetooth/AD2P/Settings/BitPool
(Dword: 60)(Default is 30)
it just automatically disappeared after a softreset, the key isnt there by default.
Im using the lvsw aku 2.3.1 rom.
What can I do? Please HELP!
ps, i found out if i turn down the treble, it reduces the high pitches. but that cant be the real deal! it must be some other way!?
update:
i have installed the aku33_a2dp.cab provided by "joe_dude" and change the registry values like usejointstereo=0
but nothing works, still got this annoying high pitch noise...
Hi savant,
I am using the ht820 with a imate jamin, and have no problem at all. i followed the procedure laid out in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263745.
Make sure that you read the complete thread as there is a cab file that edits the registry for you. I tried it and mine worked flawlessly the first time. I am using pocketmusic as my mp3 player.
hello cvrbit!
thank you for replying, the link you gave me is about the installation of a2dp protocoll on the prophet, which I already did.
I have double checked my registry and all the necessary keys are there. I even use a newer a2dp protocoll from the acu 3.3
I searched everywhere on google and in this forum it seems there is no real solution to that.
It does seem that some HT820 user have no high pitch noise issue and some do, I dont know why.
Hi All,
When i take video with my omnia 7, it tapes without any sound. Has anyone come across this problem.
Thanks
I've come across this problem myself. I was at Soundwave back in February and half my videos had no sound, but some DID. I couldn't explain it. So I tried to experiment with it at home and found that the videos had audio each time. Thinking it was just some sort of weird one off thing, I went and used to phone to record a video at Future Music. Again, some of the videos had audio, some didn't.
I thought maybe the problem was that the audio at the concert was too loud and the noise cancellation mic was thinking EVERYTHING was noise, so it was cancelling everything, so I tried experimenting with the video for a couple of days after that. Again, some had audio, but some didn't this time, even when the volume levels of the ambient noise was very quiet.
So, after looking into it some more, I read one theory that it has something to do with a bug in how the Omnia 7 disables the speaker when something is plugged in (possibly into the head phone jack? I don't remember). I haven't really been able to find confirmation of this, but I'm hoping that after updating the phone, the problem has gone away.
I'll come back and post my experience when I know for sure
Thanks Deemar,
I have exact same problem, however I have only ever had one recording that actually recorded sound as well.
All the others have no sound
anyone????
same problem too :/ but i noticed the mic stopped working in other apps too such as shazam - it seems to do this from time to time randomly! very weird and annoying! havent noticed since nodo thought?
I haven't had the opportunity to experiment much since NoDo. But the videos I HAVE recorded since then (a grand total of two) have had audio. Knock wood, the problem might be solved...
Ok this is an issue that's plagued this phone since 2.2 came out(at least that's when I noticed it) and I'm asking if anyone knows of a workaround, fix, or otherwise to resolve this. My issue is that when I have headphones plugged in, listening to music, playing a game or whatever, I want(and expect) notification sounds(ringers, new text, new e-mail, etc.) sound to play through, and only through, the headphones. Instead what I get is that it plays through the external speaker(huh?) AND the headphones. I would expect that with anything plugged into the 3.5mm jack that the external speaker is entirely muted and remains that way until whatever's plugged into it is removed.
I work in a fairly quiet environment and sometimes forget to turn my ringer off when I get to the office. I am almost always listening to a podcast with my headphones though and it's disturbing to those around me and startles me, lol, when my phone rings, blasting it out to those around me. I have experienced this issue on the official 2.2 froyo build(and it's patches). I installed SFR(all versions) hoping it might do the trick but so far no. Is this something that might be fixed in a different kernel? I know I have options to run a different one and am not averse to trying it out if this is fixable. SFR has Voodoo control pre-installed which I checked to see if it had any settings for this type of thing and found none.
Help?
This is an issue with Android itself (all versions) and it is the same on every phone. I think Cyanogenmod is the only "solution."'
My sound just recently stopped working randomly.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
1. Multiple ROM changes
2. Checked volumes
3. Plugged in headphones (this actually produces sound)
No headphones icon
Current rom: Flexreaper

Could be hardware problem.
Does volume control work with rocker switch?
You could pop the back off and check speaker connections, wires etc.
Use a magnifying glass to check. Especially contacts around headphone jack.
Maybe a little careful poking around with a pencil eraser while the tablet is playing sound.
Good Luck with your problem
Sounds like a hardware issue.
You could try rolling back to HC3 via TD's V.4
But probably a hardware issue.

Im having the same issue coming up from hc3 to the new ics slim on A500. sound was out before upgrade just went all of a sudden, has yet to return but head phone jack works fine. tried every thing too, want to isolate the chunk of programing that controls audio and flash random potential fixs in.
Sound pop/crack
I have installed pjsports version of Android 4.3 [CM10.2 Unofficial] Build 6 on my a500 tablet.
The sound works great until i put the tablet in sleep mode. After waking up the tablet the sound system is broken. The sound is coming out but every second I ear loud pop/cracking noise and the video (or application) slows down to a crawl.
Does anyone experience similar problems ?
I believe I have read that this happens when too many apps running in the background
Last night my gf asked me "How do I turn media sounds on? Youtube and my games aren't working." All the volumes (notifications, system, media) are turned all the way up, and nothing. Notifications, ringtones, and alarms work just fine - definitely NOT a hardware issue; media only plays through the headphone jack though. That would be annoying but apparently media includes in-call volume...I can hear her but she can't hear me; she can use the phone on speaker or with an earbud stuck in one ear but it's not exactly practical. She wants to take it in to Verizon, but what little info I've been able to find on the Razr M specifically is showing it to be a software problem that just keeps happening and happening.
I've tried all the fixes I've found in the Maxx/HD/general Razr forums; wiping the cache, killing Play Music, unrolling Play Music updates, putting phones in and taking them out, pretty much everything possible without rooting and trying a sound routing app. We have an available upgrade on a third line but I'm trying to hold that one out for the springtime Big Thing, any help here would be AWESOME!
If it's still stock and under warranty, I'd just take it into Verizon. I mean, if they'll replace it, then why not?

I figured it was probably a software issue (the speaker works fine, all other sounds play, just not media) and she was getting a little neurotic about even the few days for an exchange...so I SBF'ed back to 4.0.4 and wham, fixed nothing.
The new one will be here tomorrow.
