Really wierd one this. Last night, I was woken by a repetitive voice telling me that "International dialling is not currently permitted from this device". As this was at aprox' 02.40 on Suday AM, it fair shook me out of a deep sleep! On checking the phone I found the following call history:
+88213213214 @ 02:44
+88213213214 @ 02:36
+1(767)503-3611 @ 02 36
+1(767)503-3611 @ 02:36
+1(767)503-3611 @ 02:36
+8823460777 @ 02:35
I have absolutely no idea who or what these numbers are for (Google suggests +882 may be something to do with satellite phones(!?) & +1767 appears to be a Dominican country code(!!??) but it was very unnerving to see my phone has been trying to ring these without any input from me. I'll be onto Virgin mobile later to see if they can help but thought I'd try the collective wisdom of you guys first. Virus / dialler maybe? Do these even exist for win mo phones? Any help wil be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Curioser & curioser...
Hmmm, just got off the phone with VM CSR & have had it confirmed that they had another instance of this happening last night. I have ensured that I have not been charged for these calls, have imposed a credit limit of £30.00 on my account & had them set up a service whereby they text me if I get to this limit. I have also ensured that the actual numbers dialled have been logged into my account at VM for future reference. A quick look around the web by my son shows that this may be a scam involving something called "party lines" - never heard of them but some poor bugger in the states has been caned for $282.00!! Thank God my international & premium lines are barred...for now. He got this info from typing "800 notes" into google. Hope this helps someone avoids getting stung by these b*****ds.
Not sure it is related but as was already reported in other threads, some HD2 devices do have a "ghost typer" problem. This has also brought mine to call numbers from my history list in the middle of the night.
I think I now know the reason and, for me, it most probably lies in using a low quality power unit to charge my phone during the night. Unplugged or using a more expensive HTC branded power supply the ghost typer problem vanished immediately.
Ghost calls also occur with certain headphones. Last number in the call history gets called automagically. Also does it ffwd ffbw & pause / play the music tab.

Hi, thanks again for looking in. zelidar - I use the HTC charger on a night as it's next to my bed & also, the numbers dialled, have never been dialled by me before. koteski - I use a different set of headphones from he supplied stock kit, some Shure in ear things but these weren't attached when these "phantom" calls occurred (& they don't have inline ffwd or rew controls on). Again, the numbers called had never been dialled by me so they cannot be random "redials". Cheers again though Odd though how the VM CSR said he had never heard of this until my call & then admitted that 1 other incidence of this had been reported the same day...

This is interesting. I was driving home the other night, had my HD2 plugged into the aux port on my car as I wanted to test what it was like playing music in the car. It was fine on the way over (and the day before), but on the way home every time 'ABC - The Look of Love' played, the audio would keep muting, I'd look at the phone and see it was calling the last number on my call list! What the hell!
Thank god I noticed in time, because if the other party (poss work related) had heard me singing along to that song I'd have been screwed.
I had no idea why it was happening at first, so I switched the phone on and off and it just continued to happen.
Absolutely ridiculous bug... what's the solution to this??
And OP - thanks for bringing your issue to everyone's attention, you've reminded me to put international call blocking on my account and a credit limit. If all it takes is a cheesy 80s song to dial UK mobile numbers, god only knows what a cheesy 90s song will do next.
Edit: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE, 2.09.51.03_2
lol...Your HD2 may have been worried you would start cavorting round in wide shouldered shiny jackets with your sleeves rolled up, baggy trousers, pastel coloured t shirts, slip on espadrilles (I was in the 80's too) & tried to save you the humiliation. Glad this may have helped & saved someone else from an unexpected telephonic dry reaming from their operator.

Actually +882 is not the code for satellite phones (+881 is the official code for satellite phones, Iridium satellite phones for example have +8816 and +8817).
+88 (00 88) is the international code for Bangladesh.
had the same calls on my phone last night @ 3.55! the same numbers. i woke up and saw how my phone tried to call the numbers. are there more people with this problem? will do an antivirus check and may be put a new rom on it (hd2)
griaz!
Yep, had this last night too, 12am GMT, same numbers as OP.
Mines a t mobile stock rom, had no such problems before, ran a kaspersky check which revealed nothing! gonna phone t mobile later and see what they say.
edit; just noticed some 3rd party apps which i have in common with the op,
netripper torchbutton
bsb tweaks
skyfire
Had these for months though with no problems...
however installed more recently were;
vovichek and jamrecords 16 shcut
southend qualcomm
xtract

Same problem here, the exact same numbers in the exact same order. (12:23-12:25 AM GMT+3 Romania)
I have LG KS20 with original French rom (WM6).
I'm pretty sure I have none of those programes installed.
Auto Dial
I have a stock ROM ATT Tilt2
This AM I powered on my phone and as soon as it loaded it attempted to dial 88213213214 I was able to stop the call since the phone was still in my hand. As I pressed on an icon to start PowerOptions to softreset my phone, then the phone attempted to dial 17675033611. I once again stopped the call. I turned off my phone and restarted it.....nothing else thus far. Like others I have never dialed any of the number prior.
My phone just tried dial one of these numbers again, pretty much 12 hours exactly after it first happened, I've already had t mobile bar outgoing internaional calls but this is ridiculous.
Ok I just googled those numbers and found this, doesnt make much sense to me but it explains what these numbers are, why my phone wants to call them though is beyond me

I bought my TMOUS HD2 on launch day. I've noticed a few strange things about it that I thought I'd report. You should check your HD2 for the same things. Pay attention when you check--these are sometimes subtle.
1. The demo racing game, Ferrari, is choppy--there are small freezes during races.
2. The audio is slightly delayed (audio plays just before the mouths move, producing "lip sync" problems, etc). Turns out this affects the Transformers videos as well as all players and maybe some games. Coreplayer/tcpmp are affected, too.
3. Newton's rings. After a day of use, angle your device in front of an indoor/flourescent light. You might be able to see oily rainbow rings appearing in your screen. These can't be wiped off, and are not just under your case/screen-protector, they're deeper than that.
Does anyone else have these problems? Are they normal? Should I/you ask for a refund or an exchange?
[edit]
#1 is CONFIRMED for users with some stock microSD cards! Moving the game off of the memory card fixes the choppiness!
#2 seems to be present in ALL HD2 devices!
#3 seems unique to my device.
I've observed all of these problems except the newton's rings.

umm.. if you can replicate those problems on pc (more specifically the movies on a pc, just copy the files to your pc and play them and see if its the same) I have had my phone since the thursday before launch.. and i don't have ONE of those problems...
good luck getting an exchange done with the backorders and high demand BUT i would at least return it till more come in if they can't "exchange" it.
My biggest problem i HAVE had is random sleep of deaths... where it doesn't want to turn back on from sleep mode... but being a long time windows user... pulling the battery randomly is natural (sad i know lol)... and it doesn't happen frequent enough to piss me off.
Also... r you on the stock rom or cooked rom?
I've noticed skyfire to be choppy and audio out of sync on a strong 3g connection pulling 1100 kb/s. Never had that problem on my touch pro 2.
the ferrari game is , and has been, choppy since day 1. there was an unboxing video a few days before the HD2 came out, can't remember what site it was, and he played the game for a little bit....looked choppy too.
the transformers audio does appear to be a little bit out of sync, very little but still noticeable.
I don't see the 'rainbow screen' on the HD2 though I do have it on the TP2, first I've heard of it on the HD2.
The problem with the choppyness on the game is actually the micro SD card. The micro SD cards that shipped with our devices seems to have a problem. If you copy the game on to another micro SD card the choppyness will go away. The same might be true for video (I just have not had time to test it yet).
I don't want to thread jack, but maybe you guys are having this issue also.
After syncing my contacts, I lose contact numbers. I've synced via outlook and gmail and I get the contact's names onto my phone, but phone numbers are randomly missing. I can't figure out what the contacts have in common. I came from a blackberry and my lady from a dumb phone and we both have the same issue with missing phone numbers.
Anyone else? Got a resolution?

which server are u trying to sync? google server? I just notice the names aren't syncing properly but in terms of phone numbers and e-mails and addresses, i got all of those back by syncing to google's server via outlook.
in terms of this thread tho, i haven't had any of these problems above, i just tested my transformers pc and phone and both are playing in sync... the ferrari game yes its kinda choppy, but like the guy said above it might've been a sdcard issue, since they will only ship us with class 2 sdcards...

thanks
Received my HD2 from TMO on the 31st and do not have the problems you are describing.
Thanks for the responses, everyone! For those of you who aren't experiencing at least problems 1 and 2, can you answer the following:
1. Are you using a custom microSD card?
2. Could someone take a video demonstrating that the problem does NOT occur with your device?
T mobile will claim ignorance unless there is some proof that at least some of our devices don't have the first two issues (the choppy racing game and the audio delay).
I havent noticed the audio lag in transformers but have noticed that Ferrari game to be choppy. Have any of you notice Sense UI locking up your phone?
For Instance, If im browsing on Opera Mobile 10 and then quit the app, I get a black screen for the today screen and only the Start Menu is accessible.
Then I hit Start, and I hit settings but its just stuck so I can get to "HOME" to turn off Sense UI so basically I have to remove the battery.
Also, in the Photo Viewer IN SENSE UI , I recorded about 15 3min videos (Went to a Mexican Corrido Concert ) Once I click on "Albums Soft Key", All the preview thumbnails start loading for the videos and just freezes there.
Then when I try to click on any image, It wont pull up the picture in fullscreen. It just hangs. This is BS.
Never had these issues with my Sprint Touch Pro 2. Will remove the SD card and try my 4gb card.

A hard reset and new card should fix the software issues. So would a new ROM. This thread is primarily concerned with hardware defects.
buy class 6 microsd card and your problem will be gone
u will find alot of problems with this device reason being tmo never looked into it they just seen it and said we will take it , slapped there name on it and threw in a few bells and whisles and apps and threw it on the shelves. without knowing anything about it, now its like if u need to know anything about the device or need to fix it because of a software issue its pointless to call them because they dont know anything about the hd2, so u hav to know people like us to help u guys out

Exactly...The card came with the phone is class 2 which is too slow for this kind of device. Damn cheap ass Tmo.

1. The Ferrari game runs smooth on my HD2, not choppy at all
2. This is a microsd card speed issue, I replaced mine with a class 6 and the audio is in perfect sync.
3. I have yet to see the rings you are speaking about.

Was it ever out of sync for you, even with a class 2?
My videos can often play without skipping any frames. Playback is full speed, but the audio is always 250ms behind the video (that's 1/4 second--a large amount).
Are you sure the card speed is the only issue here? I can understand for the ferrari game, or for skipped frames in large videos, but my videos can be as low as 25MB for 25 minutes, and not drop any frames, but the audio is still exactly 250ms behind the video at all times.
I'm going to create a new thread specifically about the audio delay.
the ferrari game plays perfectly if you copy it to the phone. i tried it on mine and it worked fine without any choppiness whatsoever.
I have read a lot of posts and threads on this forum. I see a lot of people have the same issue with their HD2 freezing and generally playing up.
I read the RED button reset models were possibly a bad batch but this is not really confirmed.
I read about the issues with the memory cards that were shipped with the phones as being faulty. So I decided to remove mine and put my sms and ring tone on the phone memory. So far going onto my 2nd day I have not had any issues with the phone. Before this I would have intermittent issues with SMS tone not playing when receiving messages, the phone itself just freezing up and having to perform soft resets very often.
Now I spoke with HTC and they are not wanting to send out a memory card replacement. So it seems as some get a replacement and some don't, not sure how this works. If the 16GB class 2 cards are in fact defective everyone should get a replacement.
Now I am not 100% sure if the card itself is defective or if the hardware in the phone possible defective. But I would rather test another card 1st then have to send the phone in and wait 4 weeks to get it back.
I do however have some questions.
1. Storing your sounds on the memory card is this a no no, or should it make no difference in the way the phone behaves? I mean if I have my sounds stored on the memory card should the phone work exactly in the same manner as if they are stored on the phone memory, with no freezing occurring etc..
2. I have noticed that battery drain has been halved when no memory card is present in the phone. Now is this normal that when the memory card is installed that battery drain is doubled? I have tested this with the phone in standby mode. Without memory card the drain is 1% every 2hrs. With memory card the drain is 1% every 1hr.
3. What class memory cards should be used in the HD2? Seems like the class 2 cards are causing issues or maybe the ones sent out are just plain faulty. What are the recommendations as a minimum class 4? or should I go with class 6,8,10?
The ROM is stock, hardly any applications installed only IGO8 and SPB timer. This the is the Telstra 9193 (Australia)
I have copied my data over from the memory card and formatted it. Will try it again to see if it makes any difference but I suspect not.
yes, your phone uses more battery with memory card in. Something to do with polling it.
I agree that htc should give everyone new cards. I am not sold that the card is the whole problem, but since I got a new card and new phone (5 days), I have had zero freeze ups.
I don't think the speed of the card matters a whole lot. Even a decent class2 is going to be faster at data transfer than the phone can handle.
Handset freezing or re-starting? Try a 2G sim to eliminate problem
My handset was returned to HTC for investigation 3 times with similar symptoms and I finally resolved the issue! I am on T-mobile UK network post pay sim. I tried a 2G sim card just to rule out a sim card issue (as I only had a 2G pre pay), and this 2G sim worked fine with no handset crashing, re-starting or freezing.
I deleted my Hotmail settings and re-entered, as it became apparent that my settings were trying to constantly download ALL 7,000 e-mails I have in my inbox!!! I later installed, ensuring that only a maximum of 50 e-mails were downloaded.
Not even the HTC technicians could get to the bottom of this one!
same here with similar issues, deleted all my emails that the hd2 was sync too and my freezings stopped. it also do it before during any syncing. Turned off full weather animation, any widgets i didn't need, and so far so good.
I have searched through XDA and read all the threads regarding the 'suspend process' issue. The specific issue is outlined in Issue # 11126 on the Google Code/Android project home...
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11126
I am trying to get to the bottom of this, as best as possible. For all intents and purposes, this really appears to be a mystery. Ultimately, it appears as though there is (currently) absolutely no specific reason a to why 'suspend' runs wild until the device is rebooted.
My question is (I know we can all only speculate):
Is there any chance that this could be Google account-specific?
The reason I ask is, I've been doing some "testing," just to try and make sense of this for myself. Here is what I've done/come across thus far...
- My fiancee's first MT4G was a black one manufactured in Taiwan. It had the inferior LCD-SH-C2 screen. Her battery was draining VERY quickly - i.e. before noon, without using the phone for much else other than texting.
- I enabled USB Debugging for her, to "rule out" the init process issue.
- Even though she only had Handcent, Facebook and Angry Birds installed, I removed all of them, leaving only Watchdog.
- I factory reset her phone, twice.
- For all of the above, the device was not rooted. I have since rooted her phone via the steps in this thread.
I'm in the process of creating a new Gmail account for her, exporting ONLY her contacts and then using that account for her new MT4G (Plum) that's scheduled to arrive today. I'm actually thinking of NOT using her new Gmail account at first though, so I can use her original Google account on this new, clean device and see if the suspend issue persists.
I might just be wasting my time, but I enjoy doing this and I don't think it's a complete waste to try and find SOME constant here. Am I nuts for thinking it's tied to the Google account? The Google account seems to be a black box of sorts. There is more than just contacts, apps and settings, yet there is no "window" into everything else that comes down - e.g. I can't log in to Gmail and "configure" it to not restore her wallpaper or WiFi settings. So that's why I say it's a black box of sorts, since it's doing more in the background than we have control over.
Nothing is truly random, at least not in the context of Android and the hardware affected. There has to be some reason why users of various devices, either do or do not experience this issue. Whether it's a specific action or the something that differs between one person's action vs. another person's, there has to be SOMETHING that's triggering this on her device, yet never triggers it on mine. I guess I'm just trying to flush everything out and hope that discussing it will help rule out/rule specific variables.
Let me know what you find. This is driving me crazy! I charge my phone at night, so when I head to work it's at 100%. By the time I'm heading home (4-430pm)... the phone is around 15% battery.
Watchdog tells me suspend ranges from 5%-49% at any given time. I've never had suspend drop below 5% except on fresh reboot. I've noticed, though, after a reboot that the suspend process will slowly work its way back up to using lots of CPU cycles (it starts at, say, .2%, then 10 minutes later its 3%... 30 minutes later its 5%... an hour later its 9%). Battery just gets hotter and hotter due to this.
I'll be checking back to see what you find! Thanks!

Thanks!

According to XDA and Issue #11126, you're not alone.
What's really bugging me is that neither my first MT4G, nor its 1st replacement or its 2nd replacement, have ever done this. My fiancee's first phone did this. She is now using my 2nd replacement while she waits for hers to arrive (today). So a device that never exhibited this issue, over the course of at least a week of normal-for-me use, started exhibiting this issue for my fiancee maybe a day or so after using the phone.
I thought I had "solved" it when I didn't see it crop up the first day she used my replacement phone. She was quick to let me know I was incorrect.
So I've got serious pressure here - all of my MT4G's haven't exhibited the out of control 'suspend process' issue while I was using the devices, but with her, it does. <queue the jokes>
We own our own business, so we're in the same room all day long while we use our phones. I was the first to tell her, "it's something you're doing." I'm only repeating myself by saying that I blamed it on an app she installed or something she "did" to cause it. After factory resetting, what...2, 3 times...I'm starting to forget; after checking the apps that are installed (and removing all of them); after verifying every setting from USB Debugging, screen brightness, account sync, etc. I seem to at least be able to say, "every single setting, shortcut, widget, app or usage pattern, does not produce the issue on any device I have used with my Google account, whereas it does with my fiancee."
That's the most difficult part to get absolute - the usage pattern. She's doing such basic things though, but I know that even the slightest of difference can produce different results.
I will most certainly report my results, futile or not.
The only common denominator I've noticed so far is that it only affects Sense UI devices.

That seems to be the constant, to a degree. I'm seeing people state that they're having this issue on anything from the Samsung Galaxy S (i9000) to a Nexus running Cyanogen 6.1. That's people stating it though, so I'm not sure if they're actually experiencing the same issue or not.
I am biting my tongue, but I think I found another common denominator...I am going to post back in a coupla days once I've seen it last for this entire week.
hi,
i'm running cyanogenmod 6.1 on a desire hd and have been experiencing the suspend process problem exactly as described in this thread a nubmer of times now over the last week. so its definately not limited to devices running sense.
the only circumstances this behavior hasnt shown is when running 2g only with all other sorts of communications and sync off

Yeah, it didn't seem 100% related to devices running Sense, so thanks for posting back to this.
My fiancee was experiencing this across her first two MT4G devices and has yet to experience the issue on her third and final MT4G. I want to see it run the rest of the week though before I share, but the issue did pop-up for her pretty much within 24-48 hours on her first two MT4G's.
Shlongwoodian: I have been following your posts as the "suspend" process has been affecting me since I received my phone the first day available. However, I am reluctant to send for a replacement as all else is great on the unit I have and there seems no gaurantee that a new phone fixes this issue.
I have tried Tmo and HTC and both seem clueless; therefore, I appreciate your research and look forward to any "fix" short of waiting for Gingerbread.
Anyone have any wisdom to pass on? This issue is driving me crazy! I've noticed it most on my black MT4G (w/the good screen) after browsing the web, youtube or using the media player. My wife's red MT4G (w/the inferior screen) has had no issues and her battery is amazing! The first day she got her phone her battery lasted 24 hours without even conditioning it! Granted she doesn't use it like I do mine, but it is still a huge difference. When this issue comes up on mine, I'm dead within 3-4 hours. I have Watchdog set so when it alerts me I just soft reset. That clears it up until it decides to come back at random intervals. It usually doesn't come back until I open the browser, etc. With as much as I use my phone (I am constantly on the road), it becomes a major pain to have to constantly monitor battery life. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Man, I am sorry to report that I gots nothin'. Ok, here was my original theory...
I was speculating that "something" inside the Google/Gmail account was the cause. My reasoning being, essentially, your info is stored in a database. When you get an Android device, that online database is synced locally with the phone's database. We each have different databases and there is more than just your apps, Market links, contacts, etc. I never exhibited the /suspend issue on phones that she experienced the /suspend issue on. I figured it was database-specific.
If a table contains a value, or rather, does not contain a specific value (or if columns are missing, etc.), it can cause an application to respond in a negative way. Sometimes, this causes an error to bubble up in an application. Other times, it doesn't. In my experience, I've seen much more subtle issues in databases, that don't cause errors or a crash, but instead just cause "undesirable results."
When my fiancee got her final, good replacement Plum Glacier, we started with a completely new Google account. We thought we nailed it, when a handful of days passed without seeing /suspend get out of control, leading to Android System and/or OS sucking down battery life. I think it was nearly a week into it and one day while she was out, she realized she lost battery life really quickly - i.e. left the house with 90% and by the time she got to the store, shopped for a bit and looked, her phone was down to like 30-40%. She knows how to check for /suspend and it was, of course, back.
It's still not something that can be completely ruled out, since it's not a very air-tight test. There could be something about my Google account (which I've had pretty much since Gmail beta was available) that's keeping me (and others like me) from getting it or that idea could be crap.
For some reason, I have never, ever seen this happen on my Glacier(s) running stock 2.2.1. Phones that I never saw the issue on, she saw the issue on. There is so much speculation around it, but it just seems like "some people" don't experience it and "some people" do. It's all over different devices, different skill levels, etc. No apps, same apps, whatever and it happens to some but not others.
Sorry to get anyone's hopes up. I'll keep looking for differences/similarities though and if I find anything at all I'll - or if anyone else finds anything, no matter how ridiculous it sounds (yes, we've tested the 'rock' and it doesn't appear to suffer from the /suspend issue) - post it here.
Thanks for trying! It was a good theory. So . . . now what? Is there any way to get this ranked higher with Google, HTC, etc. to get more people working on it? It is really driving me nuts! It mainly happens after I use the web browser, then put the phone on standby for some reason. I can't even use the browser any more without needing to reboot it to save battery life. There is another thread, but specifically for the Evo and I think one for the Nexus one, all with the same problem. What if a new thread were started that is not device specific? That way we can get more people to star it and maybe Google or whoever will pay more attention to it! I would hate to think that we are stuck with this problem until when and if we get upgraded to 2.3. I would suggest rooting and flashing a new ROM, but even those with custom ROM's are having the same problem, so that's not going to help. Thoughts???

It truly is a mystery to this day. I've seen people say, "it happened right after I installed Handcent" or "it happens as soon as I do..." No one has come up with any concrete evidence thus far.
My fiancee has Handcent, I have Handcent. I used Handcent heavily, never had an issue. She stopped using Handcent - still has the issue. We've gotten so granular in our troubleshooting, we're literally tracking every step. LOL i.e. I pressed the trackpad to wake the phone, once; I unlocked the phone, I swiped my thumb once to view my Watchdog Widget on the screen to the left of my homescreen, etc., etc., etc.
So, for now, we just wait? My phone (and all previous phones) have been just fine. My fiancee however...yeah, I'm trying to find a fix pretty quickly.
One common theme that I've seen with this issue is that it only happens after I put the phone to sleep. I have never seen it crop up while actually using the phone. Maybe we're going about it the wrong way in trying to identify an app, etc that's causing the problem... perhaps it is simply the code involved in putting the phone to sleep and that's why there hasn't been any consistency with what one does to make it appear. In your experience, have you ever seen or heard of it showing up while the phone is being used? Perhaps it's just on mine that it works that way, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I know nothing about code or how android works so please forgive the noob comment if this is an obvious one. Merry Christmas!
I've got this problem big time. Returned my first phone because I thought it was the phone. First few days were good but lately its back and as bad as ever. First thoughts were angry birds twitter or wifi but I have no idea. If I can't figure this out I might have to sell this phone.
I will try to post some more thoughts. I think you're onto some good ideas here.

(Re-posting from the developer's Google blog where others are following this issue): Interesting about using the phone without a Google account. Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I've noticed something else with consistency. Granted I wasn't able to document the behavior through system panel at the time, but this has consistently happened. When suspend goes crazy, I can get it to stop simply by charging the phone! Even if I charge the phone for a few seconds, then unplug, it stays dormant without having to reboot. Noob speaking here but perhaps the part of android that actually logs the battery usage is suspending when the phone goes to sleep? When it us charging, this log is reset and clears the process from running. If this is even possible, then could someone write an app that clears this system log? Maybe by mimicking what happens when the phone is charging, we can at least temporarily clear the issue without the need tovl reboot? Again, I know nothing about all this so sorry if this is all irrelevant. Just sharing what I've noticed to be consistent. Thoughts??
Also, I saw on another xda blog (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870557&page=2) that someone linked this issue to a corrupt photo on the sd card. After formatting the card and restoring some files, says the issue has not returned!

I wonder if you're on to something with the SD card. I've been thinking I haven't seen the suspend issue return on my phone in quite a while. I just realized that the only thing I've really changed is installed a new 16 gb SD card. Since then, no suspend process problems. For those who are having the problem still, I wonder if removing or formatting their cards would show any improvement? Worth a shot if at least to eliminate another possible factor.

That's cool that this thread is flushing out other ideas and possible variables. I like the idea of connecting it to the charger for a couple of seconds, but my fiancee is so used to just rebooting her phone each morning and sometimes again by mid-day, that it's easier for her to do just that.

I like the microSD Card notion. This is such a weird issue, that it's so easily associated with other items - e.g. applications, usage patterns, etc. This seems feasible though, but the only way to know for sure is to reproduce it. My fiancee experiences the suspend issue daily, if she doesn't reboot regularly. So, I should be able to take her microSD card and use it in my phone and get the suspend issue. I don't want to 'muddy' up by swapping microSD cards, so I'll try reformatting her card and see if that makes any difference. She usually sees the issue within 24-48 hours of a fresh boot, so it shouldn't be long before we see if that fixes it or not. I can check the card for errors, etc. as well.

I'll be upgrading to a 16 GB Class 10 soon, so I can give her my Samsung if need be. I'd really like to see if this is it though. It would explain the "some people get it and some people don't" pattern.
I also noticed that the minute I plug the phone in the problem goes away. Not sure why, just confirming it happens to me too. I also should note that when I returned my phone, they popped my old SD card into my new phone. So if there is an SD card issue with a corupt file/photo that could be something as well. I wonder woody if your girlfriends phone has had the same SD card after how many times did you say you traded it in? BTW, a side note, how did you exchange it so many times? After I took mine back to the store on day 14 they told me I wasn't able to exchange it again.
I do have a 16GB SD card but just haven't had time to install it. Wanted to double check which things I need on the new one from the old one, but it might be a good way to test this issue. Let me know some ideas before I swap the cards and maybe I can help test this.
Also, one more thing, what is the app you're using to log stuff? I'm just using Watchdog Lite right now.
I've got to figure this out or this is a dealbreaker for me. I have waited 3 years to upgrade phones, first time on Android, really wanted iPhone but wanted to stick with month to month from TMob. If this continues I think I will move to Windows Phone 7 or iPhone if I have to, but I really like this phone when the battery is not draining like a leech.
Thanks.
werk,
Just wondering what process you went through when you upgraded SD cards. Did you copy any files over to the new one or just start blank?
Thanks.

Just straight copied the existing files over from the old card to new one (new one in phone connected via USB, old card in SD adapter in my laptops SD card slot). I think some Angry Birds files didn't make it due to long paths, but reinstalled it and no problems since then.
Hi, I was bummed when my HD2 running Energy Rom 6.5 Titanium was beginning to freeze on me and it kept progressively getting worse and worse for a month. It got to a point where it became unuseable as it froze every 2 minutes and even my Android SD MIUI Rom could not even load in half the time and when it did it just froze after a few seconds. I thought my hardware was failing me and was contemplating either sending it in with my warranty or just getting a new phone completely.
BUT....I have since taken the sim card out as I can't use the phone and put it into my HTC BLUE ANGEL (God bless it, still chugging along nicely after 8 YEARS!!!!) and I notice my HD2 all of the sudden running smoothly! Its been running smoothly and fast for the last 72 hours on 6.5. I just loaded up my Android SD with no problems at all! Has anyone ever heard of a sim card causing the same problem symptoms as failing hardware? I HOPE this is the case as I'm trying to find anybody else that can shed a light on this. I love my HD2 and hope its not dying!
P.S. I put the sim card back in and noticed a slight slow down and a few instances of unresponsiveness but no freeze yet. My sim card is about 4-5 years old.
P.S. 2 - My phone finally froze after watching a 5 minute youtube clip in Android. Cant discern whether it is phone hardware related or app related or even Rom related as my Android always freezes atleast 1-2 times a day every since I had an Android SD Rom.
yes, sim cards fail / get old and can cause issues, non booting, random hard resets, gl;itchy screens, all kinds of things. phone your operator and ask for a new one.

Thats what I like to hear. I think my HD2 is not messed up after all. About 80 hours on Winmo no freezes w/o sim card and only one freeze on Android SD in 8 hours. Thanks!
