HSPD+ Connection and stability in your area? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I can't connect to HSPA+ in winmo only 3G/HSDPA, BUT with MattC's newest sence ROM with PPP I have been blessed with the access to HSPA+ in Jacksonville, Fl. Check out my signature. What I want to do with this thread is list the compatible ROM's, their stability, and the area you are in.
By the way, my test was 7mb and it completed in less then one second. No B.S!
My specs:
Windows mobile: ©[ANDROID O.K][4 Aug 10][23569][21911]~[CHT]~[Premium]~[Kumar's TMOUS HD2 ROM Series]
Android: [BUILD][25.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.6b][Kernel: michyprima 2.6.32.9 #70]
Radio 2.10.50.26
Jacksonville, Fl 32225
~ very unstable with all the tweeks. winmo and Android, but the speed of the data connection is worth rebooting ALL the time.

HSDPA throughput compared to WM

I have seen with the Engergy ROM + 12.14.50 radio + FroyoStone 3.1 that the HSPDA throughput through the wifi router is better in Android
Windows Mobile
0.6MBits/s Down
1.0MBits/s Up
Android
1.5MBits/s Down
1.6MBits/s Up
Just some interesting information, maybe someone can confirm this.

Holy balls! I'm getting .14 Mbits/s Down and .5 Mbits/s Up where I live! I would try it on WM, too but I don't feel like getting angry right now.
Anyway, WTF!? WHY IZ MINEZ ZO ZLOW!?
(NexusHD2 FRG83 V1.2)
I'm getting about 4mbit/s down, 1.5mbit/s up. Android or winmo didn't matter at all.
2.14.50 radio
mdeejay froyohd 3.4 ppp
huanyu kernel
miri 3.14 based winmo rom
I think it doesn't matter if you are doin a speedtest under Android or WM. The data throughput depends on the radio. But it might be that the kernel of android knows better what to do with the data coming in, so it's maybe faster.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Data connections on different builds

First: thanks to all the members of XDA who contributed to bringing Android to the HD2. You saved a few HD2 from ending up in the trash. lol
I have been trying different android build on my HD2 for a few months now and I have notied than on builds like mdeejay Froyo Z, Android FRG33 mccm V1.5 and a few others I get the H data icon 90% of the time. When I use builds like mdeejay evo sense v1.6, HtcClays SuperDesire V1.0 and some others I only get 3G but never H. I know the difference between H and 3G, my question is why do some builds get it and others not. I would think that it would have more to do with the area coverage than the build but the results are in the same locations like my home and job. So is it something in the builds?
Thanks

Move from T8585 to Telstra T9193. Issues?

I am based in Perth WA and have finally had enough of dealing with my European HD2 in remote issues. No reception
Have just picked up a Telstra T9193 and want to know if there are any special consideration regarding Android. Std Radio, Firmware and android?
On the H8585 I am running Miri Rom, 2.14 radio and Froystone 3.1 Android.
All running sweet.
miri, 2.15 radio, froyostone sense 3.1 on my t9193. no problems here
Energy 21680 from 29Sep with Darkstone 3.1. I just upgraded my radio to 2.15 yesterday and am testing that out. I'm in the US so I don't know if these radios would work well for you.
miri v17 rom updated radio to 2.15 here in New York area and found better reception, faster 3g and better battery despite many other claimed more consumption. WM6.5 is running smooth as butter and tried both SkinnyEvo and Froyo HD without a problem too.

Nope, nothing different except the band frequencies..no need to worry about radio versions or anything

HD2 Builds Evo vs Desire vs N1

Hello Ppl,
I havent manage to find a thread regarding this. M sorry if there exists one.
I ve been using mdeejay's, darkstones and mattc's builds and all of them where based on Desire.
Last week i ve decided to go with Revolution EVO (since he fixed 011 prob and numbers appear in the right format and it doesnt have any ads etc) from mdeejay and i ve got to say that it is by far faster, and more responsive than anything else i have tried.
I ve changed the kernel from hastarins 7.6 to latest (26/10/2010) git kernel with ported battery.
The screen rotate is almost done within a second
Lock unlock is much faster than desire's
Speed "feels" twice as fast as desire's
I ve used N1 builds in the past once or twice, but i miss the sense experience and i dont remember it being faster than desires.
Anyhow. I need your feedback.
What is your experience with it?
I've done pretty much the same as you, and I've got to say that the Evo version by mdeejay is simply amazing. It's the best version that I've used, stable and without issues.
one vote + for mdeejay's Evo - rEVOlution
for now, best rom, and best batt life near 2 days with 2g allways on and not very very intensive use..
-on op, i'm not a sense user but i liked the sharp wallpaper on mdeejays evo revo build + the smoothness of animations minus the drain in battery.
-desire, i didn't liked it.
-n1, i like cyanogenmod build for its customization.

Your choose is right . EVO Sense is the best as far as I know .
So what are the differences from a more technical reason?
What are the pro's and con's. Support, Hardware compat etc?
Sense versions. Is the desire sense newer?
If only it supported rmnet.
Not being able to use the data connection I'm paying $30/mo for... worthless.

I'm not off contract.
excellent seems that everyone shares the same feelings about mdeejay's evo build.
hope that we will be able to flash it on nand.
I really dont use winmo the last two months. I flashed a blank winmo image, and didnt set anything, not even giving my pin to it anymore.
I m really looking forward for a flashed edition.
But i notice that all the evo build didn't support chinese handwriting in serach contact list
Maybe just in my case
+1 on Evo revo really nice.

+1 on Evo builds being the best (tmous here.)

[Q] Super fast android

Hi All
Where to find super-fast and fault-free android rom
For months, I follow
I can not have left the android applications
Windows Mobile applications, disgrace
Now follow the things that makes me sick
Are Sense, though not
Instead of judging me
Like the guy recommending ?
Do not write empty words, criticism, unnecessary things
I have a business life
and the need to android
My bad english sory (Google translate)
My HTC HD2 EU version Low Ram Low Rom
Sell my HTC ? and I take buy T-Mobile HD2 ??
For all unhappy brodhers...
Hi
The faster sd ROM I ever seen is the one from Dandiest v4.31.44.12 (quadrant score up to 2900)
I'm very happy with MccM MixTheme V1.1 HTC Sense.Iphone.ICS.Stable Miui base[GB 2.3.7]... Very fast, stable, almost perfect
Fastest I saw is AmericanAndroid,
But I didn't try the 2 others above.
At the last question, do not buy a T-Mobile HD2. Instead buy a larger SDHC (MicroSD) card, for increased storage and the T-Mo HD2 doesn't offer a significant RAM improvement. Finally, there is a larger risk of bricking a T-Mobile HD2, as you may accidentally flash an incompatible radio.
Hi Nigeldg

Apologies, but I don't quite understand what you mean. this is a quick summary of the differences between the two HD2 models, it shows that there are very few differences between them.

I don't think this is related to the model version of your HD2. Perhaps the ROM is different or he has a better SD card (class 2 can sometimes be faster than class 6). Hope this helps
Try tytung's gingerbread rom on nand. It should be fast and stable. It's reliable and it works which is probably what you want for business.

The US Model is much better for NAND due to the larger size. On my NRG ROM, it only works NAND on the US model; others have to use the SD card. And on my TMOUS, I have only about 150Mb RAM left after booting, so I personally like the extra 125mb that this model uses.
My (EU) HD2 installed to [4 Dec 11] [MULTILANG] Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ Sense 3.5 SensationXL! [Tweaks!] [RCMix ker]
and stable and quick but boot not quick and low ram
T-Mobile is broken, downgrade I've heard
yeah you think ???
I do not have much money
T-Mobile, with little money, the difference can be purchased at
You set your sys partions correctly and format sdcard and full wipe?

Many people says T-Mobile is brick
Why is that ?
Really ?
EU HD2 ? or T-Mobile HD2
This day I change my phone ?
My phone is EU HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 100$ difference
Sory my bad english
Don't change there is no need, only extra is memory nothing else. (Or so I believe) I have great belief that redux2 rom is the best and smoothest rom for the EU hd2 version 1.2 is my personal favourite only needing 60/5 partition lay out leaving plenty room for apps so no need for an ext partition on the SD.

The anz realy depends on ur need. If u r an office man, and not going to spend much time in tweeking and moding ur phone, i recomend u a sense based rom which is already tweeked and boosted. For now u should use android 2.3.xx rom, as they are heavely supported and updated.miui latest build is also nice. Stable and eyecandy like ios.
If u do much more than the above, u should go for cyanogen based 2.3.xx roms. Be ware cm roms are highly open for devs and includes much more things. They may / maynot be stable( depends on build versions).
Any way, applying a super charger script to any rom boost its perfomance several times..
send from my hd2 @ miui 1.12.2
I´m using Runnymede Sense 3.5 build from NRGZ28 and im happy with this rom.
it´s "sense" and very fast in my opinion.
While I've used most of the above, the most STABLE I've witnessed is still NexusHD of Nov 06. Its in-built tethering is solid (unlike the MIUIs which almost always require 3rd party apps), 3g data is most stable especially in areas with rather spotty service (in comparison with the present most recent MIUIs = Jaguaralani, MCCM, etc). Its battery consumption is zero when not in use and in flight mode; when limited to 2g it is consistently very low in consumption on standby (< 5percent in 8-9 hours). Records and views 720p vids but, just like the MIUIs, can't record for longer than about 14min.
U the best rom I have found it

I recommend 01.04.2012 lite very good but no weather animation
because weather animation is wrong run.
Sory my bad english.
If you want a fast rom, try aosp/cm7. I would recommend nexushd2 and hyperdroid. Stable, fast and a good battery life

Yep, I agree. This is the fastest SD rom I have tried on my phone. Everything is working and you should have no problems with it whatsoever.
