Helo my beloved community!
So, since the HD2 utilizes quite a lot of the data connection quite frequently (mostly for weather updates), it would be good to have an option to disconnet the data connection automatically. I presume that this is probably a registry hack. This feature can be found for example in TD2/TP2 Tools. I don't want to wait until HD2 Tolls (or Tweaks or something else) shows up (I hope it will quickly because its always something very welcome!), so maybe someone could answer quickly where to tamper with the registry to do that?
Thx in advance!

I've used an old tweak I found which seems to have done the trick, not really watched it closely enough to find out as not had time yet.
Go here: http://www.andrewsayshello.com/windows-mobile/auto-disconnecting-idle-data-connections-in-wm6/
Report back and see if it does work for you!

thanks for the reply but ive installed the cab and restarted but it doesnt seem to do anything
I just did the mentioned reg edits but it didn't seem to work. Then installed the cab to countercheck for my mistake. Didnt change the result, didn't work...
Even though I noticed the CacheTime setting existed from the start and was set to 600 (10 minutes).
SuspendResume original value was "~GPRS!"
Data charges are not so much the issue, I'm just concerned it might drain the battery quicker if the connection remains open permanently.

Try to do the regedits like this:
SuspendResume=GPRS_bye_if_device_off
CacheTime=5 (decimal)
VPNCacheTime=5 (decimal)
It works on my TD2, which to my knowledge has the same WM6.5 as the HD2 does. By the way, did You set the end call button long press to "terminate data connection"? If You did, then UNDO it

Right, You can't check it, as none of the HD2's hardware buttons are configurable Just ignore that question. Anyway, I think Ive figured it out to some point. It looks like the registry hack works whenever the phone connects to the web to for example browse the internet or update stocks. But it DOESN'T WORK if the phone connects to download weather updates. It looks like the Sense weather app is somehow preventing the data connection to shut down. But I think it only happens when automatic weather updates downloading is set.
hmm you do appear to be correct... now why is the weather app hanging onto the data session
Well, just tried setting both CacheTime and VPNCachetime and when checking mail I can confirm it works.
Thanks a lot! Mail checking schedule set up.

absolutely no idea I think someone smarter than us should try to find the answer. Ive already done a rather brief look around the registry and tried to find something that would get the weather app such privileges but with no success. Im thinking of addressing a new topic about that, so its more visible to the community

Twitter app doesn't close the data connection either
This is really annoying me. My battery was draining fast and could not find out why. Now I have found out that it is because I am constantly connected to Mobile Web on O2. I have tried terminating it but it starts again. Even after unchecking auto update for weather and twitter it still turns on and never off. I have mail set to download automatically but if i turn that off too then what is the point of having this phone and feature?
I have tried the setting in HD Tweak app to turn off data after 1 minute but noy joy.
Any help? Pleaseee.

Theres one more thing you should check out. The biggest connection-demander was always the NOT PROPPERLY CLOSED OPERA. If you use the opera browser, be sure to close it NOT with the X in the upper right corner, but through Opera Menu->exit function. If you close it with X, it only goes minimized and does not shut down the connection. Even if you close it, because opera is still running, after some time it will want to refresh a page and conect again. Thats why you have the imression that the phone connects by itsself. Thats not the phone, its opera

Also as stated, weather, opera etc will keep your data connection active...so end task and it should shut down a few seconds later.

I have installed a shortcut to taskmgr in my quicklinks - so if i see something constantly running i end task...it shuts it down rather than minimising it which is what happens when you hit the little X in most cases. The taskmgr tip is in the sticky at the top of the page.

Yes I know what you mean but you can't kill the weather app or twitter in this fashion as they run within Sense itsself. Besides, killing processes is not the point. The point is to have an automatic data disconnection, so you dont have to do or kill anything

Hey guys,
Can any one tell me what the VPN cache time was originally set as?
Hi,
Is anyone experiencing there hd2 freezing when changing the lockscreen wallpaper? I have to take the battery out and turn phone back on again...the wallpaper does change though...
Any one else experiencing this?
Thanks.
I see no one has responded, which is fair enough, but I have noticed that the issue doesnt happen when I choose to apply the default wallpaper from the message dialogue that pops up...
yes! I have the same problem too.
I don't know what is the problem though.
can someone please shed some light....
happens to me, only noticed it when started using the Miri HD2 V6 rom.
Only a minor issue for me as I rarely change wallpaper

You should check if you have a faulty folder. I also had the problem, that HTC-Album crashed a number of times (to say it frankly: always). The Problem was a folder full of 2000 Icons i had on the storage card. HTC-Album (which is also used to select Wallpaper) somehow couldnt handle that. Try p.ex. to take out your SD and try again. If it works then --> Find out which folder/file it could be and put it to the exclude list of HTC-Album via a registry-entry.

thanks guys....
problem solved... everything worked again once my G alarm was uninstalled...perhaps some codes were clashing...
hope this can help others out there.

Does anyone know why GAlarm hangs the lock wallapaper setting.
It happened to me and when I removed GALarm it worked.
But i like GAlarm as well!
im am getting this and i do have G-profile, but i havn't uninstalled it yet. has anybody found a way around it?
Reviving this thread. I also have this problem and I am also able to reproduce the problem on my GF's HD2.
This is with G-Alarm 2.5 on both phones. Is this a G-Alarm issue + windows mobile issue? Doubt it, phone shouldn't be locking up at all despite the program being installed.
This is just another bug in the windows mobile os.
Uninstalled G-Profile and the problem is gone
Hi everyone. I had a problem with my Leo this morning. It didn't change the time automatically an hour ahead for Daylight Saving Time but I had to change it manually. I live in Italy and so in the time zone GMT +1.
any issue about that?
thank for replies
Bye
Same here... and if I set it manually, it resyncs back to the wrong time itself... And I can't even cheat by changing timezone, it's greyed out...
Do you use the "Internet time sync" option? (Settings tab, Data services, Internet time sync.)
Mine changed automatically for me this morning, which was great since I'd totally forgotten about it and would have gone to work late tomorrow

It uses your data connection. You don't have to "connect" to the internet to do it.
Yes time sync is on, data connected 24/7... and it insists setting me back to non-DST. My location is even correct... I'll try once more and deactivate if it still does it...
I don't sync with internet time, and mine changed fine.
Mine changed automatically for me too, Internet Time Sync data service was disabled. It's magic (or my service provider).
Time sync is enabled here, but my device switched fine by itself.
I think it must be a registry key.
My wife is using Freyberry's Rom it it updated fine. If I go to the clock options and pull it back to 00:59:50, when the clock changes to 01:00 I'm getting the info that the clock has been updated to daylight saving time, and the clock goes to 02:00.
I'm using NRG's EnergyRom, and if I do the same procedure nothing happens, the clock stays at 01:00. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?
We are both using WM 6.5.5.
Thanks in advance.

I think this problem is related with Mylocation update´s.
For example, my clock is set to the current Portuguese time but if I enable Mylocation and make a weather update the clock turns back one hour.
This was since last night when hour changes to summer time.
Now I must have mylocation disable...so this is a Google´s problem related with mylocation.

Not here in Portugal, if I enable mylocation and make a weather update the clock goes back to winter time (-1h)
For example, right now it is 19:07 at Portugal when I enable Mylocation and do a weather update the clock turn back to 18:07.
I live in Denmark and had the problem, too. It's working now.
I disabled the location service in Settings, then manually put the clock one hour ahead (so it had the correct time), and turned the location service back on.
Now it keeps the right time, even after updating the weather, receiving SMS messages, and updating the time through gTimeSync (a free program that syncs the time over the Internet).
I think it is working because this morning when I synced with gTimeSync, it would repeatedly tell me that my phone time ("local time") was 1 hour off. After disabling/enabling the location service, it had the right "local time".
I'm not sure whether the disabling/enabling or Google fixing the problem did the magic, but it works for me now (I hope )

Yes, that's right. I already tried with sence, titanium and even without any today plugin, just to test and in fact the thing causing this bug is have some alarm on the Windows Mobile, if you use an app that can define a alarm but doesn't show the information on the WM standart alarm, p.e. spb time, you see that the alarm works and even the time change fine acording to daylight saving.
Know, the only thing is to find a way to solve.

I have an issue with the clock as well... Ai just got the phone yesterday.
Actually, during the day at the office, the time changes several time by one hour forward... so suddenly after the time was OK in the morning, around 5 PM it showed 11 PM. What do I need to change so the time stays the same? (in the night it went back by one hour, so the alarm woke me up one hour earlier than it should have...wrrr ;-)
BSB tweaks
I am using BSB tweaks, there is option Auto sync clock - just switch off this parameter, it working perfectly. Milan
Actually, when I am at home and have athe autosync on, the time does not change. As soon as I am moving around, the time changes (even though the auto sync is off then). It seems that it changes when the network changes while moving around. When travelling in roaming this weeknd, the time moved forward by 26 hours in just one hour while travelling in a bus.

As a colleague was having the same problem I looked around for a solution. Having found nothing that appeared to work I looked to the HD2 which runs a similar software setup. This is what I found (I can't post the URL so must simply copy & paste from the original page)
Hey kids
This was irritating me too, I assumed it was not a phone issue but, I contacted HTC yesterday & their reply is as follows, there are 2 steps to perform. I did this last night & so far the phone has been perfect:
*

Dear Stuart
This is not a fault with the device or its software, your device updates its time automatically from the Internet and from your mobile provider.
Occasionally there is a difference in the time from the Internet and the time from your provider which can cause the time to appear to be changing when it should be the same.
Normally this will resolve itself within a few days, however, this is very inconvenient so we recommend to disable any automatic time updates on your device.
This will not effect your sync with other things like Exchange and similar
From the Home screen tap:
Start - Settings - Data services - Time synchronization - Untick all here.
AND
Start - Settings - Menu - All settings - Personal/Private - Phone - GSM & UMTS Services - Time synchronization - Get settings - Untick all here.
Sincerely,
Adrian

Hi,
Everytime I turn off this computer in 5pm, and open it in 8am it's changing the Language. please see attached picture.
please help.
Out of curiosity, is there some particular reason to restart the computer? Sleep uses basically no power and resumes far faster. If you leave the computer in sleep mode, does this happen? What about hibernate, if the machine supports it?
Please check with the Startup tab on Task Manager. If you have unwanted programs starting up automatically, uncheck them and restart.
Anyway, do you have to manually reset the language settings on control panel every morning?

Can you try disabling all the startup programs above and restart? I'm not sure it will help but if one startup program is not in English, maybe it's causing the system to change the language...
You can always revert back to your current startup settings by re-enabling the programs as on your screenshot.
