Why did you post this question in both forums?
This one is for development only...

I think you are Chinese, so try Wandoujia at Wandoujia.com. This software is invented by the company of former president of Google Greater China.

I have the SDK for windows installed and have the drivers downloaded but they can not install. Even with my phone plugged in, i have tried all 3 different usb settings and currently have debugging turned on.
NOTE: The driver im trying to install is the adb driver.
Also this may be my first android phone but i do know my way inside and out on a computer
farquep,
I'm an Android newbie myself, but I don't think you need those SDK drivers. I tried installing them, and they weren't working for me, either.
I'm not sure if you're trying to root/enable sideloading on your phone, but I found that the drivers included with HTC Sync seemed to get me where I needed to be as far as THAT effort goes.
If you're just trying to hook up your phone to your PC, and expecting to be able to access it like a removable drive, I'm pretty sure you'll be unable to do that until you go through the rooting/sideload enabling process. I never had any luck with it UNTIL I rooted my phone, and I'm pretty sure that's by AT&T's design.

You need to modify the .inf file for the driver to include your device/vendor code manually or just do what I did which is easier and install HTC sync won't hurt anything you don't have to use it. It will modify the file for you. Or you could have someone upload there modified file. At any rate the problem is the USB plug and play system that does not recognize your device. It only recognizes a handful of devices and the ARIA is not one of them. Good Luck.
Just out of interest, do you have to install Samsungs Kies Software for a particular reason? I hear alot of people complaining about it, but not sure why you need it in the first place...
Is it to sync information? I am guessing to transfer info on and off the phone you dont need Kies installed..

There are alternatives for every thing available in Kies (maybe with the exception of syncing with outlook, I'm not sure).
I got a Kies update alert today (Version 1.5.1.10074_2) btw, perhaps it works better than the earlier versions for those who have trouble? Get it here if you're interested. They're not very good at posting change logs at Samsung though, so I have no idea what the news are.
you can (theoretically) use kies to:
install the usb drivers for the phone
transfer and sync files
sync contacts etc
install an online firmware update
....however since kies doesn't actually work at all, or not properly, you only really need the usb drivers which you can download from softpedia
I installed the latest update to kies, and now kies doesn't seem to recognise my phone, it just gets stuck on connecting the device please wait?
Anybody have any ideas as to how I can fix this?
Otherwise how can I access my phone from the laptop?
if you use google apps, or sync with your google accounts/contacts/calendar/etc
then you do not need the PC software.
i sync my outlook stuff via google sync, same with contacts, emails are from gmail. so i don't need the desktop piece.
how do I transfer a file from my laptop to the phone though?
or music etc?

Disconnect the usb and reboot the phone. If that doesn't help disconnect and try a driver reinstall.there's an option for that in Kies.

if it's like NPC then u have to completely uninstall (everything ....use an uninstaller program), and install the new version from scratch, or it usually does not work properly
I have the latest froyostone V1 from Energy released August 8 and I believe lot many like me have issues connecting with PCs. I had installed HTC Sync software from HTC Website, but the PC does not recognize and the phone does not give me option for connection type.
I posted this issue in the specific threads as well but no response and hence I am opening this issue so that experts outside the specific thread can guide us how to connect to PC. OR any other build that works perfectly. All my contacts are in Outlook and I want to sync them.
Any help or guidance much appreciated !!!
i made a thread already for connecting with drivers and all search is your friend

ADB and Automount does not support synchronizing the outlook contacts or emails, that HTC Sync can do..
Have installed SDK and most of it's component including USB Drivers for XP r3, but all in vain, HTC Sync does not detect it.
Automount, I can detect my storage card but that is not what i am looking here. Any help on sync of the outlook contacts will be great help. Also offline sync of emails from my outlook as we do for winmo..
This was explained already in darkstone's thread. He took out most usb functionality because files were being corrupted when transfered from pc due to the fact that the operating system is running off of the SD card.
Use a different build, or better yet, transfer your files to a folder from winmo and then boot to android and voila! your files will be there. Search is your BEST friend.

To transfer the files, "Auto Mount your SD Card" is better solution from copy to WinMO and then find it in Android using the explorer. But I was trying to sync my offline mails and outlook contacts as we do in winmo. Do you mean that if we sync in winmo, i could see my contacts in Android, I don't think so it is possible.

ok, i 've just tried astro, the problem with that is, i created a foder and put apk files in it. and i can't find them in astro at all, not only the files but also the whole folder, they all just disappear............somebody help me out
try file expert
Try file expert..it helps you to transfer files in between your PC and phone without USB cable..
Use Dropbox. Download on your PC to a Dropbox folder, then simply tap the file in your Android Dropbox client. Beats anything else I've tried.
Hi experts,
Thanx to the experts on this forum, I managed to flash HyperDroid 2.3.4 NAND ROM on my HD2. Its working fine.
But, when I connect my HD2 to my Vista laptop via USB, my laptop cannot find the required drivers to connect . I am not interested in syncing ... just able to transfer files between PC and sdcard on HD2.
I tried to search this forum for an answer ... but, could'nt fine one.
Also, any recommendations for a good anti-virus for my HD2 will be appreciated.
Thanx.

You have to manually install them over the device manager.
Hope this helps.

how long have you been using android? because the simple answer is in notification area if you already haven't tried, drag notification bar down and turn usb storage on
i might be wrong but i dont think i needed driver update and what not when i flashed HyperDroid. uh.. have you tried all the ports on your laptop? i found that sometimes this seems to fix problems like this. im taking by what you said this is your 1st Android ROM you tried? if not then was it working before and if so then you could always try another ROM as well to see if it would fix the problem.
Thanx j4n87 ... I downloaded the Android USB driver from the HTC developer site, and installed it on my Vista laptop via device manager. It works. I can transfer files between my Android HD2 and Vista laptop.
cheers,
