[Q] How to transfer one phone's info to another?

My Vibrants USB connector is screwy and im going to ask for a replacement. Once I get my replacement, how I do transfer my info?
Contacts and Calendar will automatically get transfered from Google.
With Titanium Backup - do I just copy that folder over from one internal SD to the other and then proceed to reinstall apps?
What about other app data, etc.. Should I just copy over folders from one to other? Would that work?

I'll just echo shrivel and say you should be fine doing that however you will probably need to download the actual apps as the all's don't save with Titanium. Basically when you go to the market and download an app the apk is saved and installed on your phone what titanium will do is save all the data once you make a change to your phone say installing a Rom it wipes the data and uninstalls all of your apps. But it does not delete the apk so when you use titanium to restore it looks for that apk to reinstall it with the same data and setting. If you completely wipe your phone or copy the backup file to a new phone titanium will be looking for the apk to reinstall but its not there.
I know that was kind of long and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

I'm doing this right now and cant seem to get it to work.
I have titanium and a friend backed everything up to my ext. sd card.
How do I get titanium to pull it off of the sd card? Or if I transfer it to the internal card in a folder (which is what its in) how do I get titanium to see the folder?
I can see the folder with astro on the internal card, but titanium doesn't see it?
What am I doing wrong? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

your backup folder containing all the backups should be named TitaniumBackup and placed on the root of your internal sdcard. or you can specify the name of your backup folder in the preferences menu in titaniumbackup.
also, titianium backs up your app+data for you, so you don't need to re-download it from the market. if you want to backup other stuff like call log, text messages, home screen icons, phone contacts etc, use 'mybackup pro'
I feel like an idiot, How do I get to the root?
Do I have to use a computer to do it? or can I transfer the files there from the sd card or the internal memory?
Please be patient me

In astro if you press the home button it should take you to the root of the internal sd. Top should say that you are in directory /sdcard. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to there and it should work.
EDIT: The home button in astro BTW, at the top under the notification bar, not the android home button on the bottom of the phone.
titanium backup folder is there and all the files are in it.
When I open up the app titanium back up, go to back up/ restore and then hit menu, batch, I don't see the files that are in that folder only whats on the phone as it came from tmobile (none of my apps and files)
What am I doing wrong or failing to do?
If your going back to the same kernel/ROM you can do a nandroid backup of your system files as well.

[Q] Problem restoring titaniumbackup on NANDbuild cyanogenmod7

Hey guys,
could you help me out restoring my settings with titaniumbackup, here's my problem:
I backed up my settings on my previous rom (DHDrom SD), then flashed to cyanogenmod7, but to get rid of all the garbage on my SDcard(like stupid pictures and sounds used in wmapplications that appear in my android gallery and music application) i wiped my SDcard clean (i did backup my SD on my computer). But now is the problem that titaniumbackup obviously can't find the backup file anymore because i wiped my SDcard. So...
Is there a way to fish up my backup file from the SDcardbackup on my computer and get it properly onto my actual SD so that titaniumbackup could use it to restore my settings?
im sorry for being a nb
Thanks!

Hi,
Looking at my own sd card ,I've got a TitaniumBackup folder and a TitaniumBackup-3.7.3.2.zip.
See if you have anything like on your pc backup, restore them to the card, and see if that restores your settings.
nope didnt work the only thing i can find with the name titanium in it is an empty folder in the data folder
The default location for Titanium backup is /sdcard/TitaniumBackup. If that folder doesn't exist or is empty, then it seems your backup is lost.
Okay and couldn't it be hidden in the root folder somewhere because titaniumbackup always asks for root access? Because I used the free root version of titaniumbackup?
Anyways thanks for answering!!

[Q] Calendar folder - where is it?

I refreshed my PC with a new operating system, but when I tried to connect HD2 with outlook to sync, I lost all calendar entries on HD2. Now, I have earlyer backups (I copied everything from card and phone) and now, is there any way to copy calendar files fron backup on hdd (on pc) to restore calendar on HD2?
Thanks in advance.
In the root of the device is a file pim.vol. It containts addresses, calendar data, etc. Backup you old pim.vol. Put the old file back. See if it works. Use pim backup to backup the calendar data. Put the original pim.vol back. Probably reboot. Use pim backup to restore any data you need.

Titanium Backup

Help me please.i reflashed my phone.before this i made a backup in external sd with titaniumbackup pro..after reflashing i installed titanium again.but i cant restore data.how to restore?
is u root your phone?
and do you have sql?
fist you root it then try back up ... in bakup folder there is a button detect press that to locate the back up folder and back up
i dont know ... in XXXKPE ( my phone) titanium back was not worked ... system files are back up but the apps didnt... then i check in the usb debugging then my apps also backuped ... and some 3rd part apps are installed but when i tried to open it ..they are force closing
Have you already installed TBP. If yes, just go to Prefrences>Backup folder location and press detect. After this TBP with scan ur sd card and detect the folder in which u have ur backup.Just select use current folder and then comeout of settings. After that go to batch and select the restore option that suits u d best.

If he didn't back up to external_sd then there's no use for this post.
i choosed the apps i needed. and backuped them one by one.this doesnt mena that i made a backupo?(
You backed-up the folder TItaniumbackup, right? If yes, and if it is on your External_SD card, just copy the folder to Inernal_SD. If you have not backed up the folder to the external_SD..Poof! Gone!
you know, there is a folder "com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup" in externa_sd/data....but this folder is empty. i lost everything?
I'm afraid you did.
Why don't u folks back up the files directly on titanium app and setup the path to the external sd, in the first run? Really don't think it's a complex issue!

The common issue starts with backing up in
- A folder that Is hard to reach.
- Backups don't get saved to com.kermidas, This is the system's folder, Not a backup folder. If you save to that folder, Congratulations, You've evolved from a rich to a poor-mon. These folder's erase themselves EVERY time you flash from one firmware to another. They get recreated once you re-install the same app or restore VIA titanium.
- Then again, It takes a little thinking to realize, sdcard and external_sd are separate. EX: Basket is external_sd , Garbage chute is sdcard and bread is your data.
Scenario - If you put a bread in a basket and a bread in the garbage chute, and the daily collector comes to collect the trash, Obviously the one in the trash is gone.

Move them to the extSDCard and then put a file called .nomedia (the . is important) in the folders. Just create a txt file and name it .nomedia then copy it across to both folders.
The .nomedia prevents media scans listing everything twice.
Then whenever you change ROM's, or reset, just copy those folders back to intSDCard. (Device)

If you are playing around with roms, my suggestion is buy sdcard, 32-64GB depend on ur usage. Move all the music/movie/picture to sdcard.
So you can easily wipe all and flash the rom you want anytime without data lost. Only need to reinstall apps.
On my opinion, reinstalls all apps are better than using backup, cause sometime backup causing some bugs.
