I refreshed my PC with a new operating system, but when I tried to connect HD2 with outlook to sync, I lost all calendar entries on HD2. Now, I have earlyer backups (I copied everything from card and phone) and now, is there any way to copy calendar files fron backup on hdd (on pc) to restore calendar on HD2?
Thanks in advance.
In the root of the device is a file pim.vol. It containts addresses, calendar data, etc. Backup you old pim.vol. Put the old file back. See if it works. Use pim backup to backup the calendar data. Put the original pim.vol back. Probably reboot. Use pim backup to restore any data you need.

How can I recognize a backup file on a SD card without working FAT?
The backup was made using the build-in tool. What's the file's extension, does it have any specific header?
Thanks a lot, recovering the backup is my only chance to save my PIM.
The backups made with xBackup are in the name compactflashbackup.
Is it there in your SD?

Hi
My cursor remains in the url box since I tweaked some fonts, scroll bar dimensions and other things.
the d-pad/jog wheel moves the entire page...but no in-page cursor/clicking of items.
Its been all stylus for a few days.
I am a bit ignorant on how to proceed.
I DO have all backed up on the device with spb.
Tell me what to do please!
Gratefully.
If you backed up all your data on the device with Spb Backup software prior to your experimenting, then you simply have to click on the executable file that was created when you did the backup and all will be restored.
please know that i'm totally new to windows/computers...... but exactly what is the 'executable file' created?
Aren't there certain files from previous backups associated with IE amd IE settings that I can selectively custom restore?
Again, thank you for help.
tim
On default, the backup file is created under \My Documents -directory. Just click the filename and the backup restoration dialogue begins... basically just click Next/Yes
Your patience will be rewarded somehow sir(s)....
so..I went to my spb backup to a previous date when it worked.......
then in restore chose my documents (?)..and restored those files:.... no return to cursur function.
'my documents' on my storage card has no 'directory'.
I'll keep playing!
Thanks again
tim
I don't quite understand what you mean by "'my documents' on my storage card has no 'directory'.
My Documents -directory is located on Phones internal memory by default. When you insert a Storage Card, it has no directories nor files.
And after a quick thinking, I can only remember Camera application to use Storage Card\My Documents, wether you choose to save pictures there and after that the My Documents directory will be created.
You could copy the executable backup file to storage card, then do a hard reset and then restore files from the backup.
Oh and one thing, when you create a backup or restore, make sure, you are not connected to ActiveSync. I learned that lesson once
If my memory serves me right, Spb Backup makes backup only of Phones internal memory, so restoring a backup, won't put anything on the storage card.
i've just bought 2Gb memory card for my atom exec...i use to install all my software in my phone memory before, but it seems that the space in not enuff..so,shud install all the software into the memory card, and left the phone memory empty?shud i hard reset my phone b4 i install all the program into the mmry card?how bout the contacts that i save in my phone memory?how to transfer it?
TQ
try to use pim backup.....try to search.....
Use SpB Backup. Specify custom backup and choose PIM email etc and it will back up only contacts SMS, email etc. Then you can choose where to put the backup, choose storage card.
The good thing about SpB Backup is that is creates an executable backup file and if you later flash your PDA like I do constantly with these new ROMs you just double click the exe and it will re install all your contacts and emails.
The problem with PIM backup utility is that once you flash your device you actually need the PIM backup program installed before you can use the backed up data, not so with spb backup.

Click to collapse
yeah, that is correct. But for most cases, almost all cooked ROM are equipt with pimbackup so no need to install it right? it's quite handy and doesn't eat up resources or create large file.
On the contrary with SpB Backup, I would not recomment to use it if your going to reflash your unit to a new ROM(unless it's just a plain HR then go ahead and use it). Since every ROM is different, SpB Backup may cause unstable condition and eventualy crashes the unit forcing you to do another HR or even reflash.
i accidently backup my contacts onto my phone is there anyway to delete them other then factory reset or deleting them one by one?
i tried using mass storage to find the folder to delete it but there isn't any folder for contact.
I am trying to go back to stock and will unroot then reroot in the process. I am using Nexus Root Toolkit, and it says it will wipe everything, which I assume includes internal storage. All I need to do is get it on to my PC, then put everything back. Thank you for any help.
You can use
1) Super Backup (Backs up apps, sms, call logs, calendars , etc)
2) Helium (Good way to backup apps)
3) MyBackUpPro (Really good way to backup everything)
You could also do the convention copy paste of your DCIM folder folders and repeat the process for other folders.
Hope this helps!
