fist you root it then try back up ... in bakup folder there is a button detect press that to locate the back up folder and back up
i dont know ... in XXXKPE ( my phone) titanium back was not worked ... system files are back up but the apps didnt... then i check in the usb debugging then my apps also backuped ... and some 3rd part apps are installed but when i tried to open it ..they are force closing
Have you already installed TBP. If yes, just go to Prefrences>Backup folder location and press detect. After this TBP with scan ur sd card and detect the folder in which u have ur backup.Just select use current folder and then comeout of settings.After that go to batch and select the restore option that suits u d best.

You backed-up the folder TItaniumbackup, right? If yes, and if it is on your External_SD card, just copy the folder to Inernal_SD. If you have not backed up the folder to the external_SD..Poof! Gone!
you know,there is a folder "com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup" in externa_sd/data....but this folder is empty. i lost everything?

Why don't u folks back up the files directly on titanium app and setup the path to the external sd, in the first run? Really don't think it's a complex issue!

The common issue starts with backing up in
- A folder that Is hard to reach.
- Backups don't get saved to com.kermidas, This is the system's folder, Not a backup folder. If you save to that folder, Congratulations, You've evolved from a rich to a poor-mon. These folder's erase themselves EVERY time you flash from one firmware to another. They get recreated once you re-install the same app or restore VIA titanium.
- Then again, It takes a little thinking to realize, sdcard and external_sd are separate. EX: Basket is external_sd , Garbage chute is sdcard and bread is your data.
Scenario - If you put a bread in a basket and a bread in the garbage chute, and the daily collector comes to collect the trash, Obviously the one in the trash is gone.

I want to delete the bloatware on my Vibrant. I have Root Manager and Titanium Backup. I tried backing up Sims 3, deleted it, but could only restore data, not the app. I deleted the Sims, but was able to get the .apk online. I want to delete the bloatware, but how do I back it up so I can restore it incase I need to. It seems I can only restore data, not the .apk file.

Just run the apks from your phone and they will install.
But the APKS wont be there if I delete them
You said you downloaded the apks correct? Just save them on your computer if you ever wanna play the Sims then simply put the apks on your phones sd card and run them from a file manager.
No, I downloaded only the Sims apk, the other apks are in the system on the phone. It won't let me move/copy them, so if I delete them, they'd be gone

Ohhhh I see lol why would you want to reinstall them? The Sims 3 is the only thing I would consider keeping out of the garbage thats preloaded on the phone. Most of the bloat ware are useless trials anyway.
I mean for warranty purposes, I would need to unroot and reinstall it incase something happened
Well flashing the stock rom would be pretty easy and would restore everything except the sims which you have

Just be aware this will remove everything that is not stock, so if you have anything you downloaded from market or elsewhere, you need to back that up separately. There are two basic ways to back things up, to the SD card and to your computer. The SD card is not wiped like the internal memory card is when you wipe, so apk files will be safe there. There should not be anything preventing you from copying apk files, ensure that you are rooted.
A few questions:
1.Titanium Backup says that the default backup directory is sdcard/titaniumbackup. But when I go to my Folders, that folder is listed right there and not inside the SD folder (which I assum is the SD card). There is no sdcard directory. So is this folder really still on the SD card?
2.Also, all the apps that I have bought, must be backed up to the SD card as well? Or can I just redownload them whenever I need them?
3. Is there a way to create an "image" of the phone that will back up everything, including settings, homescreens, apps, etc?

Nandroid, My Friend.
If you are unfamiliar with what nandroid is or how to use it just search the forums here for all the info you'll need. It's very simple to backup and restore your system.
Titanium will NOT backup system apps. It can only back up their data.
Clockwork recovery (nandroid) makes a copy of pretty much everything, but you don't have the option I believe of restoring individual components with ease the way you can with Titanium.
Each serves very different purposes.
1. There's the "sdcard" (internal storage), and the "sd" (external storage). The phone always stores things on the sdcard portion for data and such, so I've got in the habit of just storing images & video and new apk's to install on the sd card, but everything else goes on the sdcard (even music for me, because my playlists seem to get cleared if I don't do that). So yes, you should have a directory under sdcard called titaniumbackup (along with a directory called sd).
2. You're best bet is to back them up using Titanium Backup, but the Market will remember all your downloads including paid aps once you've signed into your Gmail account. Titanium Backup will also backup market links, but be sure you download the busybox version (click on the "Problems?" button on the Overview screen).
3. Nandroid pretty much will create an image backup. Titanium Backup will save everything, but for system apps, just the data is saved (and so long as you're not flashing all kinds of different ROMs, Titanium Backup should restore everything nice and tidy for you).

Back when I had the G1 and always made a backup with nandroid. I could just go into the nandroid folder, find the current backup, then find the folder which had all the apks and just take the ones out that I wanted to. I had a reason for doing this, forgot why.
I don't know if nandroid still uses the folder structure on clock's recovery like it did on Armon(?)'s recovery in the G1. So, I'm not sure if it's still possible.
My Vibrants USB connector is screwy and im going to ask for a replacement. Once I get my replacement, how I do transfer my info?
Contacts and Calendar will automatically get transfered from Google.
With Titanium Backup - do I just copy that folder over from one internal SD to the other and then proceed to reinstall apps?
What about other app data, etc.. Should I just copy over folders from one to other? Would that work?

I'll just echo shrivel and say you should be fine doing that however you will probably need to download the actual apps as the all's don't save with Titanium. Basically when you go to the market and download an app the apk is saved and installed on your phone what titanium will do is save all the data once you make a change to your phone say installing a Rom it wipes the data and uninstalls all of your apps. But it does not delete the apk so when you use titanium to restore it looks for that apk to reinstall it with the same data and setting. If you completely wipe your phone or copy the backup file to a new phone titanium will be looking for the apk to reinstall but its not there.
I know that was kind of long and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

your backup folder containing all the backups should be named TitaniumBackup and placed on the root of your internal sdcard. or you can specify the name of your backup folder in the preferences menu in titaniumbackup.
also, titianium backs up your app+data for you, so you don't need to re-download it from the market. if you want to backup other stuff like call log, text messages, home screen icons, phone contacts etc, use 'mybackup pro'

In astro if you press the home button it should take you to the root of the internal sd. Top should say that you are in directory /sdcard. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to there and it should work.
EDIT: The home button in astro BTW, at the top under the notification bar, not the android home button on the bottom of the phone.
titanium backup folder is there and all the files are in it.
When I open up the app titanium back up, go to back up/ restore and then hit menu, batch, I don't see the files that are in that folder only whats on the phone as it came from tmobile (none of my apps and files)

If your going back to the same kernel/ROM you can do a nandroid backup of your system files as well.

No need. You just install titanium on the phone and do the backup. You can then move the entire directory to your external sd card. When you flash, you just install it again and then restore your backup.

Voila! You may need to reinstall TB from the Market if you have deleted everything but the backups will remail on your external card.
norm2002 thanks, you know without changing the directory (before reading your post) i backed up everything and then flashed with JMI, flashed perfectly and then installed Titanium back and when i tried to restore i see no files to restore it was 0 written. I was assuming TB uploads all data to it's server but now No Voila for me. But now you taught me how to backup. Will press thanks for your help.

That was very helpfull. Had the same problem wenn i flashed the Roto-rom. Thought i was covered with Titanium. But the flash deleted mij internal-sd. Now all is on the external and i am very pleased..

oh men, no offence, but this forum is becoming a rubbish container...
times ago I remember this forum as one where there were only advanced users posting their finds and where the newbies could read and learn about...
but now every new(to android and not only!) user is opening 3d here and there so the usefull 3d are going to finish bottom page or even in the other pages and finding what you need is becoming just as searching a needle in the rick.

If you want to be sure, you could always copy the titanium backup folder from the tab to your PC(USB), and copy it back after formatting/flashing a rom.
Nice tip norm2002! I can't count the times I have deleted my precious backups when I repartitioned!

The more places you can have backup files saved, the safer you are. With TB it's wise to have the backup files stored on:
- External SD card
- PC
- Dropbox
This way, regardless of what happens, you have your backup files safe and can set up your Tablet (or a new one if your old Tablet gets lost/stolen) easily.

so I backed up everything with titanium backup, and copied the whole contents of my internal storage to my pc, then I wiped and flashed 4.2. Now I copied my titanium backup folder back to my internal storage, and guess what? It doesn't see any of my apps! what gives?

4.2 does something strange because of the new Multi-User Feature.
Place the TiBu folder where you want it.
Open the app and click on the settings button.
Click on Preferences.
Look for backup folder location.
Click on detect and wait.
If that doesnt find it the back arrow soft-key will take you up to the previous folder keep going up till you get to the root folder (by root folder i mean when it says "/") and then from there find your backups.

Hello, everyone, I came to this forum in hope for some advice with a problem I'm having. I'm sure I'll be sticking around as I just got a new S5 for Christmas, though. I apologize if these threads are redundant, but I've searched this forum and Google and haven't found a solution. First things first, I have a T-Mobile S5 running 4.4.2 and I rooted, installed CWM with Phil's Touch and created a backup. I saved the backup to my internal sdcard storage and copied a backup on my PC via usb. I've since deleted the backup saved to my internal storage to save space and would like to place it back in my phone to restore. I have not installed a custom ROM yet or re-partioned anything. The reason I'd like to restore is because my dumb-ass accidentally uninstalled the stock video/audio player while attempting to remove bloatware. I now can't listen to or view any videos sent via text without first downloading them and using an installed app' to play them. (Any tips on this would be nice.) Here's my main issue: when I attempted to place the backup back into my Clockworkmod/Backup/ folder, I'm prompted with a message saying I can't move this item. I've tried moving the file on my PC as well as my phone and had no success. I then tried using a root file manager to manually place the backup into the clockwork folder (it allowed me to put the backup in my phone's storage, but not clockwork's backup folder) and it ended up placing it the folder in clockwork, but not the backup folder. The folders now go: Clockworkmod/'My saved backup' - Backups folder/ empty. I can't move nor delete that file because it is write protected and I have no idea what to do from here. I need to restore my backup and definitely remove the copy that's write protected as it is taking a few gb's of storage. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will likely give a small Paypal donation to the best response. (preferably tonight, if possible.) Thanks, guys. Let me know if you need any other details.
Update: I just tried installing Phil's Touch Aroma File Manager as I read that can delete/edit write-protected files and I'm not able to launch it in recovery. The folder and zip files were correctly placed, but it won't recognize the folder. I don't understand why my phone isn't recognizing anything in the Clockwork folder.
