adding and uninstalling apps losing memory? anyone htc desire - Desire Themes and Apps

I uninstalled an app from ther htc desire and noticed they dont get the full memory back. after playing with my htc desire installing and uninstalling apps finaly picked the ones i wanted. I did a back up withe backup app. then restored phone to factory settings checked memory boom 140mb free which is funny because when i got the phone ther was only around 70mb free. anyway restored the backup i created with all my appps and still have 100mb space left so it shows by adding and uninstalling you lose memory because i had the not enough memory.
Can someone help with this problem?

regards and thanks in advance!
If you recently installed lots of apps, then that is probably the main cause. Check out how much space you have left on your phone (not the card). If there's nothing running in the taskmanager, you could try and delete some files from the phone's memory. If nothing works, just backup (wither manually or using one of the apps available, such as SPB Backup) and hard reset the phone.
As for the SMS issue, I think there is a fix for that somewhere around here. If you don`t find it, just search for a cab which disables the HTC Messaging app. The winmo version works better, even if it looks nastier.
Hi, You could try cleanRAM to tidy up any memory leak probelms, it's noted on XDA in a few places (I got it from frewarepocketpc.net). I have heard that there is a .cab available to disable HTC Messaging but I prefer tidying up my messages by backing up to Microsoft Myphone and deleting the local copies daily. Yes, HTC failed in my opinion but this seems to work for me.
Regards.

Installed apps go into storage mem so deleting them won't have any effect.
If operating RAM gets low then it will have an effect but its nothing to do with what you have installed.
Its about what is running or otherwise hogging the operating RAM and people have plugged through this time and again.
The ROM you are running has an effect as has various system caches.
Branded ROMs come with all sorts of clutter and junk and finding a clean lite ROM and flashing that will assist immeasurably.
Regular closing (properly!) running apps and using something like CleanRam all helps as well.
The HD2 is a cutting edge piece of kit and it its possible to get it to fly and be very stable.

Low Memory what else can I do

OK...I have searched and did the tips provided...
I do not play games but my daughter has two on the device but I keep it clean with the few apps I want. I had facebooks linked but I unlinked and removed the data. I cleared cache with Astro and downloaded AndExplorer to view the internal memory and del some large wallpaper files in internal. Also did mange programs to clear other cache. I do show the HTC mail folder at about 95MB but cannot find it...all my mail is set to save to the sdcard.
The device sdcard & phone storage app never reflects the internal memory size never changes 748MB total & 636 available space . I am lost is this a 2.1 DINC issue? I am on stock OS and rooted. What else can I do...
I went through all of this and the only thing that worked was a hard reset

I was thinking the same....I hope the 2.2 works out better...this is very frustrating
So the device has 6.06GB of memory but I cannot use this for app?? I do not under the rom space vs the phone space...
If I could store apps on the SD card would this eliminate this issue?

phone running out of space?? gmail taking a while to refresh?

my N1 is saying its running out of space. anyone runnin into a space issue too? what did u do? i dont think i have that many apps installed. i uninstalled the ones i didnt really need.
when i check SD Card/Phone storage settings, says my phone's internal storage available space is 19.07mb >.< is that low....
also, for gmail syncing, is it me or does it take like a while to sync...?
If you are running a custom rom try moving large apps like Flash to your SD card. Also clear your browser cache. Deleteing old sms's will help also.

no custom rom. stock 2.2.1. moved what i can to SD. 32.75mb now =3
did you try removing browser cache?
removing browser cache was what increased it to 30 something mb =3 lol
is there any way to save text messages =3
Try this out for backing up SMS: code.google.com/p/android-sms/ (I can't post live links yet.)
SMS Backup & Restore from the Market
does it get saved on the sd or on the phone?
20mb is the limit for the low space warning.
removed some some unused apps again. now at avail space 48.70mb. is that good? what does everyone else have?
did the backup thing... went thru my 17k+ msgs since i got phone in august. xD
Everyone else mostly has custom ROMs with Apps2EXT, which equals pretty much unlimited space for apps.
???? apps2ext??
I hover around 25mb-30mb free space usually. I also have a bunch of games I could uninstall since I only every play maybe 3 of them.
Every time I got the low space warning it was from having way too many windows going in the browser.

[Q] 2.2 update, slower phone and lack of internal storage issues

hi guys, after finally updating my vodafone legend to 2.2 all seemed well but then i started getting that annoying hardrive icon on the status bar.
it seems that my internal phone storage is constantly low, ive checked and its around 13mb.
I then went into my applications to see what was using the most memory and it turned out to be my contacts storage somehow using an incredible 88mb of my phones 100 or so mb of memory. i dont understand how this is the case as i dont have 1000's of contacts?
also, my phone now lags as a result but i assume thats because of low internal storage?
any help would be massively appreciated, thanks.
That seems weird. You might want to try a factory wipe/reset. I used Vodaphone's 2.2 upgrade and was really unhappy because of the storage and lag so I switched back to CM 6.1.
Best of luck!
any idea on the best ways of backing up my contacts and everything else in general basically?
Try titanium backup from the market for apps and settings.
The contacts can also exported to sd card in the standard contacts app.

Mail app is eating my DHD's internal memory?

Hi!
Yesterday I found a new icon with exclamation mark on taskbar. Can you believe - it says - my DHD's internal storage is almost full (around 35MB was still available)! This is very weird as you know - DHD has around 1,1GB usable internal storage and it should be A LOT. After couple of hours another icon appeared - now the internal storage was completely full. It seemed very strange, because I haven't installed any new apps during last month. I deleted browser cache and removed some bigger apps, so I achieved around 60MB free internal storage.
In the morning - guess what - yes, the internal storage was completely full again! Tried to find big files, recent files, but didn't find anything interesting. So I decided to remove some more apps. Again, I achived around 29MB free storage, but as you can imagine, it decreased a little at a time.
Next step - I decided to remove my mail account (IMAP) and this finally stopped memory leak. Then I remembered, that around week ago I needed a mail, which was sent to me about 3 weeks ago. So I changed the mail preferences to download all mail during past month. This is about 500 mail messages - not too much IMO, as I left the message download limit unchanged (50kB per message).
Right now I don't have any mail accounts, but still have only 20MB free internal storage. Can you please tell me how to get clear of previous mail cache without hard reset and how to avoid this problem eventually?
Cache Mate in the Market will solve your problem
Thanks, but as I'm using official Gingerbread, I don't have root access...

Use Quick App Manager from the Market. The clean cache function of that app doesn't need root.
How much space it needs? Right now I have 43M free ibternal storage, but CacheMate says - installation unsuccessful - not enough storage...
what apps have you installed to your internal memory? and what size memory card are you using?
Hey dude, i using accleaner to clear my cache. It use very small size of your internal and allow to move 2 app, try it and see does it solve your problem.
