Anyone having issues with Kies tonight I keep getting the message well trying to check for firmware.
No Response from server
Please check if you internet connection is activated and try again..
never-mind its back up looks like their sever was down for a bit...... its back up now.
Same problem here, only it never connects. Only way i can check for updates is through mobile AP. I'm using 1.5.0 and windows 7 32 bit. Checking for Kies updates is working fine, go figure....
I believe it is something to do with your either your pc or router/modem firewall setup. I do have the same problem when I try in my office which has firewall setup.
But then when I back to home, I can connect through KIES to check the firmware update.
Cheers!
Hmmm - I've even created Firewall exceptions for all the Kies executables, but I'm still getting the "no response from server" nonsense.
Anyone got any ideas?
Your PC/Router has nothing to deal with that. it depends on your ISP/****ty samsung's servers.
Hmmm. But it worked last week!
...and now it works all of a sudden again.
Hmmm
Its likely just Samsung's server down for updating... or has to much traffic.
im getting this no response from server...... Am i doing something wrong or is it that the samsung server is really down. My galaxy s phone is connected to kies (as icon appears on top of screen)......

definitely waaaaaaaaaaay too much traffic
just look at our forum
30 min after the news got released the new JH2 works
we got flocked by people from all over the world, imagine that traffic x 1000 times from all other forums all over the world
I'm always getting this error... today, 1st time I got my phone, etc... what should I check?
Any idea ??
I would also like to know if someone have any idea about this
Got my galaxy s yesterday and I'm trying to update via kies but I keep getting this no response from server error
My kies is the latest version available
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
well... I don't know the cause but I've found a workaround.
I first disabled my LAN connection, then connect to the internet using tethering on my phone (using WiFi Mobile AP). I opened the "firmware upgrade" and he found a new version. Before clicking "next", I disabled the WiFi and reenabled the LAN to download the firmware. Everything did work fine and I didn't use too much of Mobile Data.
ps help
i was using reg patcher until yesterday............everything was working fine
yesterday i did reinstalled kies, then after i'm unable to connect to samsung server, its repeatedly displaying no response from server while running firmware upgrade(it displays this message immediately without even checking from server) while other internet bound apps r working properly
i did reinstalled kies several times but the problem is persisting.......but on another system its working without any issues...
pls help

Hello,
I do have here a problem on WM6. Every time to time my device connects to the internet (GPRS) and stays connected.
I have installed the nodata application, ans disabled the GPRS connection. It works ok, but the device becomes very slow to respond the commands after a while. Some application is trying to connect to the net. Connmgr.exe process is getting almost 100% cpu usage.
I have disabled every automatic update, activesync and son on but the problem remains.
How can I find which app is trying to connect?
Regards
Cabiri
my 2 cents
connect via your activesync/device manager, and get online via your desktop internet connection. now with netstat -b or any packet capture tool, try to find out where it is connecting. you will get an idea about the prog from remote address. like if it connects to msn.com, it'll be live messenger.. something like this.
you can also use a advanced task manager on the phone to check which applications are running in the background.
hope that helps
Thans, I will try both soluctions.

same problem here. this is happening to me just last few weeks. i can't remember if i was messing with some options in any program, but even if i did i was just turning off automatic connections since i don't like them. i also tried to uninstall my latest software, but that didn't help.it is possible that it is some kind of malware, but kaspersky antivirus did not find any problems. i hope that someone will find solution for this becouse it is very annoying.
p.s.
if this causes significant data transfer you can go to Settings/Connections/Connections -> Advanced tab -> Select Networks, and change settings to "My Work Network"
if you have a weather update, this maybe the one triggering your mobile to connect to the Internet. just turn the Automatic Update off
no, it's not any weather plugin since i removed them long time ago. and when i used them automatic update was turned off. however, if weather plugin try to auto update and if it fails, then you get an error message. this one looks just like it continuosly try to connect and it uses almost all CPU until it gets connected. whatever this application is it looks hostile and i don't like it. the war is on!
thanks for help anyway
Hi,
I even disabled the HTC today plugin... and it remains doing the same.
Until now I had no chance to track the traffic, I will try on the next days.
finally i found the solution for my problem. seems like windows live messenger is causing all my problems. i found that phone is trying to connect to internet only after using wlm. usually after i'm finished using wlm i just terminate the program. and this is the problem. i should first sign out, and then terminate wlm. after this everything works just fine. so be sure to sign out before terminating wlm. i'm sure that this is the problem because i've tested my theory few times and i guess that this is it.
i hope this helps to you. if it does please report here
Yeah I have the same issue, i believe it's been on several version of Windows live messenger, actually, it's even on the version I have of WM6.1 (I have an Elfin with the blue elves rom from xda which has wm6.1)
it's quite sad that msft hasn't fixed this yet, it henders the phone completely useless and seems like it should be something easy to fix, stupid WLM should just not retry so brutely
anyways, actually if you change WLM to "manual" instead of "as items arrive" that does the trick too, but then now your push mail is gone ;( lame!
Right im having a really annoying problem i just cant fix.
My last update to myphone was on 24th december according to the backup thats online on my account. I duno what happened but the time after i tried it didnt work. So after a few weeks i uninstalled it all, reinstalled it and when signing in it either comes up with "cant connect to myphone at this time". Or if i change both of the connections to "o2 active" i get "signing in to the My Phone service..." and it just does this forever and never actually signs in. I've googled around and seen that time and date could be a problem, but mine are correct :S. I tried different email accounts and same problems.
Also the marketplace doesnt connect and instantly comes up with "Windows Marketplace for Mobile can't connect. There may be a problem with the Marketplace service right now. Check your internet connection and try again later". Again i any solution ive seen on the internet hasnt worked.
Anyone else having these problems and know of any fixes. I'm on the htc released firmware from when windows mobile 6.5 came out, it worked fine for a while after this update then the problems above started happening. Internet otherwise works perfectly fine.
Thanks

Do you have a proxy server set up by your provider in Settings\Connections\Connections\manage Existoing Connections\Proxy Settings..? If so, take it out and choose "Connect to internet". This may be your issue.
Ooo one of them had proxy ticked but made no difference . The options there are "mobile web", "o2 active", "My Work Network", "My ISP", thats for "programs that autmoatically connect to the internet should connect using:" and "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using". Have tried what i think to be all combinations and no luck , with proxy unticked as well.
Thanks anyway , any other ideas or is there no hope lol?
I have got the same problem... 2 days no connect to the MArketplace and MyPhone
Perhaps the servers are having issues???
I quit using MyPhone as I changed to using gmail as an exchange server for my calendar, contacts, etc.
I have never used marketplace.
Hey! I solved it for me.. I must change timezone from "Pacific" to my real timezone and set clock..
Well i just tried to change it from london etc to pacific and then back again seeing if something had gone wrong there and tried it and no difference. The time was an hour behind to what it should be though and i had to change it an hour forward and same problem still. This is so weird :S.
Any other potential ideas? Thanks so far
Got BsB Tweaks installed? I had probs with that.
This issue cropped up for me starting today. Upgrading the radio rom to 4.49.25.91 fixed it. I get better reception and GPS now as well.
Did you try the good old 'have you switched it off and on again' method? I had this problem on my TouchPro 2 and I reset the date then restarted the phone (note, no changes were noticed prior to restarting) and it worked.
I guess both these two check the current date/time and compare it to the last time you accessed the system - if your current date and time is before the last time it saw you, it gets confuzzled and throws its toys out of the pram That's my theory anyways

Hi all
I have 2 x HD2s configured for ActiveSync with our SBS2003 server. Everything works fine when connected to my laptop via USB or when connected to WiFi (whether at my office or at any remote site unrelated to my local LAN). However, once I am using my data connection I experience the following issue which I have narrowed down through lots of trail and error:
When an email of approx 4k and above arrives I can see ActiveSync trying to sync and it then fails with an error code of 0x80830002. ActiveSync will then never reestablish a connection unless I either remove the particular email from my Outlook inbox, or, I connect to any WiFi connection.
If I set the download limit to 1k, it never fails and I simply receive a trunkated version of the email. However, if I select to download the remained of the text it fails again.
The issue is related to the size of the text within the email as attachements can be downloaded fine.
I have been on to T-Mobile as this feels like a carrier problem as I only experience it when using mobile data connection but they haven't come up with anything.
I'd really appreciate any help you can offer as this is driving me mad!!!!!
Many thanks,
Tom.
I seem to be having similar problems
Which all started in Mid April. I too am on T-Mobile.....
Though e-mails in excess of 4k have been syncing when OTA is actually working. I hope an expert out there has an idea of what may be wrong!
Niall
Hi Niall
I should have posted my solution back here.
I thought (mistakenly) that my SBS2003 box was running service pack 2. It wasn't.
Went to the Microsoft updates website, allowed it to download and install and hey presto!!!
Also, I have noticed that on occasion, for example if the SBS loses its internet connection, that ActiveSync does not reestablish. Simply terminating it in WM task manager causes it to restart and then its fine.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestions. We're on Exchange 2003 SP2 already.
Terminating Activesync in the Task Manager on the phone doesn't help either. The only way to "restart" OTA syncing is to do a USB laptop sync. With SSL it falls down eventually with "Waiting for Network". Without SSL it lasts longer before falling down with error 0x80830002.
I do still wonder if it's related to us changing ISP for head office, but then surely the iPhone or WM6.1 device would also fail?
Niall
I noticed there was a thread for this sort of issue in the HD2 forum but this is a stock DHD running HTC Sense.
When the wireless is on I cannot connect to the internet at all through applications such as facebook or twitter or even the XDA app. I recieve notifications from those apps, and I recieve email.
However if i try to browse to anything within these apps I recieve a "server is not responding" error, or variation therof.
This happens on ANY wireless network as I have been running on my home wireless and a corporate wireless (which I control so is not just a corporate blocker, or firewall issue).
I am reasonably new to android, but I am also a network technician so I know what I am doing RE network.

Getting arsey isn't going to help you get a decent response.
I am also a network tech - but I have not experienced any issues with wireless on my DHD.
You say stock - so I assume you have not rooted/flashed anything other than possibly the OTA update?
All I can suggest is manually forgetting the network and reconnecting. If you have any security on your WLAN, take it off temporarily and try again.
Failing that, it's time for a full factory reset to see if that gets you anywhere. If that fails, your device is probably faulty and you should have it replace.
I assume you have no issues over 3G/HSDPA?
It just seemed pointless having someone say they don't have the problem.
Like I say this occurs on any network I have trialled it on, I will disable security when i get home.
Data over Network is fine, I have not rooted or flashed a ROM this is OTB phone with 1.72 installed.
Hey guys, I am facing a weird problem after updating an OTA released yesterday by HTC (2.2.1). My gmail app and market app is not working when on wifi. It works perfectly on Mobile data connection though (EDGE). I get a no connection error in gmail and network error in market app.
I have done the following but to no avail.
1. Soft reset and boot into safe mode.
2. Uninstalled task killer app.
3. Deleted all data for these apps and updated the gmail app and setup the account again.
I have not tried the hard reset as yet. Can anyone help me out please? TIA
Thats not good at all. Is your handset branded?
Hey Andy,
Thanks for replying although your reply does make me nervous :s. I am from India and we only get unbranded sets here. So to answer your question it is a unlocked unbranded phone running stock firmware.
By the way after I posted the question I did get these two apps working once for sometime but since then it's the same problem. I am starting to wonder whether it has to do something with the wifi although all the remaining apps are working fine and dandy.
Is the wifi access point owned by you? You could try turning it off and on again, that may help.
Have tried that. It is my home network that I am connecting to using a linksys wireless router.
UPDATE - I connected my phone using internet pass through i.e. sharing the internet through PC via the data cable and I still get the same error which leads me to believe some setting on the router provided by my ISP is causing this. Although what I fail to understand is that it was working fine till yesterday and nothing have been changed in the router setup recently.
Hmm... that's odd. Did your ISP supply your router? My ISP pushed a firmware update to my router about 8 months ago that broke pretty much everything wireless.
Is it just Gmail & Market that don't work over wifi? Does your browser and other apps work?
Yes indeed, my ISP provides a router which is then connected to my wireless router. The strange thing is everything else is pretty much working including gtalk.
If your router supports DMZ and you know how to set it up, you could try putting your DHD's IP into the DMZ to eliminate the possibility of your routers inbuilt firewall blocking Market & GMail.
Maybe a DNS problem? Ensure you have good ones... You can always test Google ones 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4
Thanks for showing interest guys. I for some strange reason cannot access my router settings page. I will figure that out but the stranger things are happening with my apps. After a bit of tinkering I have found a behavior which stumps me.
These are the steps I follow:
1. Sign out from gtalk.
2. Go to manage applications and clear cache and data for gmail, market, download manager, Google backup transport, google partner setup and google services framework.
3. Restart phone.
After this my gmail app starts working on wifi but talk does not start anymore and market also throws an error before even accepting the terms. I uncheck and check the background data services and I am back to square one i.e. gmail stops syncing saying no connection, gtalk works as usual and market starts giving connection error (after accepting terms).
I seriously think now there's a serious flaw in the software and not something to do with my router settings.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading.
Simillar problem appeared for me in Locations. I couldn't list country maps for preload on wifi without 3G. After turned on 3G, it listed the maps - turn off - and i could download with wifi.
