Hello
What is a nandroid backup? How do i do a nandroid backup? I have a nexus one flashed CM 6.00 RC2
Thanks in advance
basically a nandroid is a image of your phone, like a backup in windows, when you restore a nandroid it puts your phone back how it was when you made it, with data and apps and everything.
well, first you gotta boot into recovery.
which did you install? Clockwork or Amon_Ra? Not that they are that different
Then go to backup/restore and select nandroid backup then restore it whenevery your phone/rom is not working correct.
I installed ROM manager and flashed the clockwork mod. In the ROM manager do i enter recovery mode?

You can, or you can select backup current rom in rom manager

Sorry for the noob question.. I just rooted my phone and still learning the lingo. I just did a backup by opening up ROM Manager and choosing its option to backup. It went into Clockwork Recovery, which looks similar to a Nandroid backup. Are they different?
I believe they are the same thing. I use Rom Manager as well.
Yes Rom Manager simply drops down into Recovery and performs the Nandroid Backup/Restore.
I prefer to restore directly from Recovery using Rom Manager. Boot to Recovery just to insure there isn't a way for Rom Manager to glitch during the restore. Its glitched on me once personally, but once was enough for me to say I 100% trust the backup, but I'll drop down into Recovery and restore my own.
Great app
What parts of my phone does a Clockwork backup actually back up?
I am pretty sure it doesn't back up the Modem, correct?
Does it back up both the Kernel and the ROM?
Thanks!
Another question: Is doing a Clockwork backup the same thing as doing a "Nandroid" backup?
if not, what is the difference and how do you do a Nandroid backup?
Thanks (again)!
If im not mistaken a CWM backup and nandroid backup are the same thing, and it only backs up the ROM not ther kernel or the modem

One reply says it does backup the kernel as long as it is a non-voodoo kernel.
This seems right since the backup directory holds all the files that is from the kernel.
I am quite sure that on my phone CWM backup (in recovery mode at least) backs up literally everything.
Hi all. Just wondering, I just made a backup via cwm recovery. So do I have to flash the original main Rom first then flash the backup or I do not need to flash the main Rom at all? Thanks in advance!
simply go in recovery to backup/restore, select restore and you are set. CWM backs up everything including rom boot sdext etc
I made a backup of my stock rom that was rooted with CWM before I flashed Phiremod 6.3 and then 7 to my nook.
Is it safe to flash my backup back to my nook?
It should be safe but the question is why you want to "flash my backup back to my nook"?
Yes you would use the restore function of CWM. Go into back/restore then restore then select your backup and hit restore.
Hi everybody...
I'm an old user but new member of XDA...
I'm use 3.24.40.87 Rom + 2.8.7.0 TWRP recovery...
My phone was restarted when I was working with it A few days ago then it stayed on Asus logo...
I flash boot but it does'nt work!! so I flash TWRP and backup from my files and I was forced to reflash Rom (With great difficulty)
but now my backup will not restore and it shows Error 255!!
what should I do now?
same thing happened with me, what I did I flashed the same ROM and then used Titanium Backup to restore my apps and app data into the ROM from the TWRP backup.

Goto Menu in Titanium Backup you will find an option Extract from Nandroid Backup
255 error due to no space in your Internal Storage , try to wipe Internal Storage after that copy your backup to Internal Storage and restore
