question about cwm recovery - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi all. Just wondering, I just made a backup via cwm recovery. So do I have to flash the original main Rom first then flash the backup or I do not need to flash the main Rom at all? Thanks in advance!

simply go in recovery to backup/restore, select restore and you are set. CWM backs up everything including rom boot sdext etc

Nandroid Backup?

Hello
What is a nandroid backup? How do i do a nandroid backup? I have a nexus one flashed CM 6.00 RC2
Thanks in advance
basically a nandroid is a image of your phone, like a backup in windows, when you restore a nandroid it puts your phone back how it was when you made it, with data and apps and everything.
well, first you gotta boot into recovery.
which did you install? Clockwork or Amon_Ra? Not that they are that different
Then go to backup/restore and select nandroid backup then restore it whenevery your phone/rom is not working correct.
I installed ROM manager and flashed the clockwork mod. In the ROM manager do i enter recovery mode?

I don't know of it possible with RA but with Thor cwm you can do the real format , did you try that now for your market problems.
I have still my market problem
I am now on CWR 5.0.0.0 (thor2002ro rev 1.3.4)
I move before to RA but I can't restore my backup I do the day I buy the tablet so i move back to CWR
I do restore on android 3.0 and I arrive to open market but said error server
so Im back on your rom with same problem
I don't arrive to change the market apk in system/app with ES explorateur.it saids impossible to delete and copy phonesky
and with your method for erase completly I have always my internal content
so i made errors and that's always the same S...T
in CWR 5.0 in backup and restore I have
full backup, full restore, advanced backup, advanced restore and go back
I don't have the choice toggle backup internal...
the only I have is inside advanced backup ,all categories are on yes (backup boot, recovery,system,data,cache,sd-ext,flexrombct+ebt+pt+gp1)
I don't know what to do
thank's and sorry for inconvinience again

CWM not backing up system.img

I wanted to flash a custom ROM and decided to do a nandroid backup first. Every time i did one it did not contain the system.img file which means that the stock ROM wasn't backed up. It only backed up recovery and boot. I have the official CWM from clockwordmod.com.
Please help.
BTW. I know that i can use the stock system image from google, but it's much easier to just recover a nandroid backup.

What version of CWM are you running?

"image" backup

I want to experiment with flashing different ROMs and kernels, but I would like a quick and easy way of restoring my stock 4.1.2 ROM with all my settings/apps if I need to. I tried to do this with Titanium Backup, but after flashing back to stock I had to wipe data and cache and when I reinstalled Titanium backup there was no apps/settings.
Is there any way to make an "image" of my default environment which I can then flash from recovery?
Create a backup(nandroid)
You will need a custom recovery installed, doing this will give you a complete system image and restoring it will put your phone back to the exact state it was in when you made the backup

Thanks, I have made a backup using CWM Recovery. I also selected the "create image.zip" option - I assume that I can flash that .zip and be back to the current state after playing with some ROMs?

Not sure about that option as I use quote an old recovery that doesn't have that option unfortunately, so can't help you there

Ok, I made both backups (the normal .tar and the image.zip). One more question though - the last time I flashed the stock ROM (using Odin), I had to wipe data and cache because the phone got stuck in a boot loop. If I restore from backup and have to wipe data and cache again, won't this render the whole restore useless (i.e. I will go back to default state)?

[Q] Recovery that Support Backup android-secure

I using TWRP 2.7 for my Galaxy grand 2 Duos (SM-G7012). When I try to backup there no option to backup android-secure which contain all apps that moved to external storage. When restore that backup I find all my apps that moved to external storage cannot be open. I need to re-install that apps to work again. My question is any recovery that include android-secure when backup? or just our device doesn't have android-secure?
Try philz recovery just flash through your recovery and get philz recovery
But this recovery have bug is that it take time to go to into recovery booting may be take 1 - 2 min
Zip is attachment with this post just flash it through your current custom recovery
And make your backup again
