should i buy the usa tmobile version of the galaxy tab or Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T-3505 Notebook? to me they both are around the same price with a bit of a difference here and there but the most noticeable difference is the keyboard. i know i should get the notebook because ill use it mainly to scan my textbooks and put them in pdf so i dont have to carry heavy textbooks and can view them on these light devices but besides that i want a more usage comparability. just want to get some input from those who have used either or and can perhaps help me decide. thanks.
Go to best buy and play with the tab. See if you like it. Best advice I could give

I am not a specialist, but I own an Eee Pc and a galaxy tab. Now that I have my Tab, I use my Eee Pc much less. Reading is much better on the tab. Also it is nicer to hold in your hands. An laptop is different, so I use it for different tasks. I read Ebooks on my tab, browse the internet, visit these forums, compose small e-mail messages etc. When I really have to write something, I use my Eee Pc. On Holidays I take both with me. My photos are stored on the Eee Pc (it has a 64GB SSD), but I read my mail on the Tab.
Get the Acer 1830T netbook - yep, anything below 12-inches is a netbook for me. You will be able move between documents at a much faster rate than the Tab. Also, don't forget the extra real estate on the 1830T (1366x768) and feature-rich PDF readers.
I am not a Tab-hater, but for OP's needs, a netbook will be a better option.
For your needs i'd get the netbook, i have a high spec laptop and an msi netbook and i only use the tab, unless i really need processing power.
yea i think the galaxy is very "cool" for entertainment not so much for me (college) because im planning to put chapters to pdf/ebook so i dont have to carry so many textbooks plus writing notes is always better with a actual keyboard. damn i kinda wanted the galaxy though because its light and looks cooler but notebook is better for my needs. thanks for the replies.

i would use it for those very reasons but if only it could be more note taking capable i would have got it on release date.

Ade these for any specific reasons? are you a student? i would say yes,the note taking capabilities are good, but a bigger screen could help abit. also a better notes app (quick office, or what ever it is for MS Office) is rubbish! this is where my WM comes in handy

what is WM? yes i am a student and about to go get me that notebook unless im convinced otherwise. ive never liked typing on touch screen and unsure how i will use the galaxy as a on the go student getting school things done (ie some sites dont let me in because i am on a android) so this is another reason.

WM =Windows Mobile. it has official MS Office. i suggest yoh can get a data plan to use free internet and acess any site in your college/uni. you can buy an extended keyboard dock for the Tab which is awesome! it is £40

yea i think ima just stick to a notebook and get the galaxy when it comes in wifi only because ill get more use out of a notebook (compatibility).
I think you should get the tab and a keyboard for the long typing sessions. CourseSmart is coming out with an Android app soon, but it is very useable in the browser too.
I take my tab to every class. Very handy for classes with small seats. (my 17' laptop doesn't fit on some desks)

I use my tab for my textbooks in classes and it works great. I use the Dropbox app to store the scanned pdf files of the textbooks and I can access them from anywhere, my Tab, home desktop, and my laptop.
I don't type very well, physical keyboard or onscreen, so I still take notes the old fashioned way, paper and pencil. I do scan my notes into the tab using an app called CamScanner.
I also use an app called Class Buddy for class scedules and assignment organization. So far the tab is working out great for my school related needs. I wish I would have had it when I first started. Lugging around my laptop got old really fast.

You can take notes very easily using a stylus! I forgot the name of the app but its on the market.
I just picked up a Tab on eBay for $469, bought a pre-paid data SIM from the TMO store for when I need/want mobile connection without wifi (which I expect to be rare). After <1 day with the Tab, I've already decided my EEEPC900 is going on eBay. No one in the family uses it.
Have 3 15" notebooks and 2 Vibrants in the house too. Just realized that's 6 screens for 4 people, WTF?!? Five y.o. watches Thomas the Tank Engine videos on YouTube pretty much unassisted on one of the laptops. Haven't taught him to use YouTube on the Vibrants or Tab -YET!
You probably made a decision already but I thought I would give my two cents since I'm a college student as well. I do not carry around any textbooks; I haven't for a couple years. I find PDF versions of my textbooks or I make them by scanning them. I have all my textbooks on my tab and it works great. Yes sometimes 7" is too small but its manageable. I bought one of those cases that fold into a stand and I just prop up the device on my device and do my work. When I'm doing math I have my textbook open on the tab and my notebook to write and do my problems. When I'm in chem class taking notes I use a paper notebook. If those Bluetooth styluses came out I would have bought one; I think it would have worked very well. Multitasking is limited of course and I wish there was a faster way to switch between apps. I saw the new version of iOS4 which incorporated gestures for switching apps. That's something I desperately need! I've tried different app switchers but its not the same. I use my tab as my primary phones/notebook. Sure it pisses me off when it doesn't act right but that's technology for ya. I have learned to touch type in landscape mode using Smart Keyboard so its easy for me to take notes on my tab when I have write something (like in political science) and use conventional pen & paper when I'm drawing mechanisms in chem. I passed on a netbook because it was just too big and it ran windows (didn't wanna take the time to make it into a hackintosh). With capable PDF readers like ezPDF it makes reading textbooks great. I have connected a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard (Apple trackpad) to it and it works great. Almost feels like a netbook, especially when surfing the internet. I'm in the market for a cheap mini Bluetooth mouse, I might pass on the keyboard since I mentioned I can touch type prettying quickly. Ultimately, the decision is yours but for me, I said no to a netbook for college.

I've been trying to find a decent app that I can use to write notes on. I want to use this in class so I can just take out a stylus and just start writing. I saw that the HTC Flyer had a built in app that you can write with their stylus and then record audio at the same time.
While that app is ideal I am not sure if there is an application like that on the Market.
Has anyone used the Xoom yet in class/meeting for note taking using a stylus and keyboard yet?
Its one of the major things I need for a tablet and one that is making me consider the iPad2. I love Android too much to do that to myself but I really need this functionality lol.
I know it hurts to leave android, but get the ipad. The note taking apps on it are amazing. Note taker HD for instance allows you to simultaneously record and take notes at the same time. Handwriting recognition works beautifully with a stylus, and its very easy to switch colors to make your notes more clear.

Notetaker HD is pretty awesome. If there isn't an Android app of quality by the time I start back to school next semester I might have to grab an iPad 2. I hate having redundant devices, but I might have to get both. At least with both I'll never say damnit I wish this app would come to X or Y platform.
Give it some time, with this being a google android experience provides you better believe they're going to do something like that

If you know of an ipad app developer that designed a great note taking app, I would just email the app developer and ask if they're making one for android or not. Most of the time you'll get a response. Some actually email me back and told me that they're working on it and it'll be released soon.
I have an ipad and it definitely has more software, I use mine daily (not so much now that I have the xoom). Note taking is a bit of a disappointing experience. The keyboard in portrait mode still isn't as fast as a normal keyboard. The stylus for a capacitive digitizer isn't really a good input device. It is a wide foam tip that sometimes skips on the screen, you have to write too big. It is was a hard tip pencil point type used on the resistive digitizers (not possible with current tablets), I think that would be better.
The palm rejection software didn't work for a hook-lefty for the ipad programs I looked at at the time so I didn't even try it.
On the xoom I loaded catch, I use it on my droid and ipad and it works fine. Evernote is good too but the service is too expensive at $45; if you don't buy the service you won't get your notes when not connected to the internet.
I've been using the xoom to take notes! I just use Documents to go Writer for taking notes in class with a mini bluetooth keyboard (not the official one, but a $30 one from amazon). I use a program called grades to track my homework and other assignments. I also use kindle and docs to go PDF for viewing e-books.
I also have no desire to write "naturally" on it with a stylus. If I wanted to do that I would have a five star notebook that doesn't cost $800.
I agree that I have no desire for "natural" writing with my xoom. My biggest concern is that whatever I write I want backed up somewhere, and if I choose to continue on a desktop later.
Two possible solutions:
1. Google docs - I even put a shortcut on my desktop directly to the page with it. Bad thing you need to have wifi or at least 3g.
1a. You can try a program called gdocs. That more of a notepad, but it syncs automatically to a google docs folder
2. I use dropbox to sync a word document with my computer. Download dropbox to your xoom, and open the document once. It'll download it to a \dropbox directory. I used Astro to create a shortcut to that document so it was easy to access in a meeting. I use Documents To Go to open it. When I do open and edit it, I File--> Save and you can see it automatically uploads it to dropbox.
Neither solution allows voice recording as well, but I never felt I needed that.

If u download spare part from market and disable app compatibilty then restart then download gdocs. From the market. That should be more then enuff of a office apps for u to use and spare parts lets all ur apps even non tab apps show full screen

The reason why I need to write notes, is it makes no sense in an engineering/biology class.
Ever had to describe a detailed cell drawing when you can just, I don't know, draw it? lol
And yes I can buy a notebook and just do it there, but frankly, I have a ton of e-textbooks and I rather just carry a tablet instead.
I have a netbook. It does its job for regular note taking sessions, but I can't record properly, and there is no linking between what I wrote and what I recorded.
HTC Flyer does this but its too damn small and lackluster.

I wonder if once it's released, an enterprising coder will yank and port it ala Wifi Calling from the G2 to the Nexus.
(I'm extremely interested in a solution for similar reasons.)
If you need an immediate solution "today", the best I've seen is Graffiti as a scrawl to text translator and MaplePaint as a freestyle doodle. I'm biased because I had a number of Palm PDAs so I'm familiar with Graffiti and it's quirks. There was one other as a keyboard replacement that would do the same thing and had a lot of potential, as long as I didn't have to do it on my <4" phone screen (waiting for the wifi version later this spring). It was $10 for the full version and in my aggravated state of having to play with it on my phone I uninstalled it. It did have serious potential if I was on a 10" screen though, now I wished I'd written down the name.
Well it doesnt have audio recording, but for hand held drawing, I just saw drawfree, it does do free style drawing with the ability to change colors,
it just appeared in the tablet apps section of the market
I'm an engineering student also and I'm looking for a good note taking/recording app. I have the Xoom and will be getting an iPad 2 next week which will be much better in this particular area. However, I just don't see how I could be more productive on a tablet than my laptop. A bluetooth keyboard would be really nice and it'd take up less room, but there aren't too many benefits to it.
I tried out this drawing application and there's no way it'd be useful without some sort of stylus. Using your finger just feels very awkward.

I'm not much of a poster but I've been looking for a good note taking app since I sold my iPad. I emailed Dan about porting his Notetaker HD app to Android and this is what he replied with:
I'd love to have it there, but it will be at least a while before I can even look into it. It's hard enough doing it for the iPad (written in Objective-C and in some places raw C for speed) but perhaps once the functionality gets firmed up on the iPad I can do an Android conversion, but not yet.

I've got an Ipda and a xoom and have the same goal as you did - write naturally on a tablet with a stylus. The Ipad has a numnber of apps to accomplish this whereas the xoom doesn't have anything that works yet. I use Notes Plus on the Ipad for now til xoom catches up. However, these Ipad developers did not have any sense of urgency for developing for android when I contacted them. They were concentrating on improving their Ipad offerings.
The closest thing I found for xoom was an app called Note Everything but the responsiveness for inkwriting was unusable for note taking.
I'm keepin' my Xoom though cause it rocks in every other way - just waitin for the apps to explode on the scene!
I've been using Evernote for this for quite some time now. Started on my Droid and it works flawlessly on the Xoom. I can take notes from a web browser and they automatically sync to my tab and phone. Handy to have all your notes with you all the time (like when the boss asks for something). I have one of those mini BT keyboards which paired fine with the Xoom and I've been in several meetings so far where I've use the audio recording. The files turn out to be small but it does a halfway decent job of recording. You can add pictures to each note, rich text. It's been pretty slick, and it's free.
I contacted a few iPad developers about coming to android, more specifically honeycomb and these were my responses:
SketchPad HD:
"Sorry. No current plans for Android tablet apps. There just aren't that many honeycomb tablets on the market. "
CourseNotes:
"We have no direct plans for an Android version at the moment, but we are keeping a close eye on the state of hardware/software on the Android side to see if it will be a good match for the app in the future."
Not the greatest news. Here's to hoping something comes out soon for android.

I'm using Catch for notes but looking at the HTC Scribe, and I really don't like HTC, I think they're on to something. Hope that's just a pen and software we can all use.

Coming from education technology, I have seen pluses and minuses.
You are right, being able to hold it comfortably in 1 hand is nice (it is MUCH lighter than an iPad) and I've found the voice recognition for taking voice notes very accurate. However, typing papers is not really practical, but I'm assuming you have a standard computer for that.
The biggest drawback is getting your books in a format that is compatible with the N7/Android. If you can get them (or just scan them) in simple PDF, you are golden, but many of the secure proprietary formats that publishers are using and distributing through college bookstores are not quite there yet in the ability to display them on a tablet---some are using flash, others are using different secure formats (such as CaféScribe) so they can keep the book from being copied and distributed.
The foolproof solution is to take any books you have to Kinkos and have them chop the spine and feed scan to turn them into PDFs (which you can legally do as long as you don't distribute the PDF) for a small fee, which they can do pretty quickly.

i thought you're asking the use for "studying" (ps: does not spell "studiying" - i hope you're taking econ in a non-english univ), and here are my thoughts: (im an Econ student too)
- reading: it's hit and miss. depend on what you need to read (papers and other docs distributed/recommended by your prof, or generic PDF out in the internet).
- typing: sucks. i dont know about you, but i still write faster than typing. you can try installing Swype or some other app to type faster, but on a 7+ inches monitor, it's still not comfortable. 4~5" on a phone is easy to swype with your thumb. 7"? go landscape and practice.
now, aside from the above points, everything else is good with a Nexus for the following points:
1. it's cheap. $199 for a quad-core device?
2. it's small and light.
3. it has nice apps. Evernotes. Calendar. Emails. Browser. Office products. voice recorders. and they're mostly cheaper (if not free) compared to iPad apps.
4. it's a Tegra3 device with high resolution display. download some games and it's solid for in-between study or during a boring lecture.
Here's how I use my Nexus for studying: as a handy references device. it doesn't replace my notes, textbooks, and the all-important highlighter... but for a quick internet search or reference sources, it's way easier than booting my laptop... and i can schedule my exams, study period, check emails, and check classes on a screen bigger than my phone's.

Really? I can't find any information about this service on their website. So..you can give them like a 200 page book (small and large book), and they'll make a PDF of it for you? I want that so badly.
I hate typing on the N7.. I am 3x as fast on my 4 inch phone it just doesn't gel with me.

Not the navigation for the campus i mean car navigation ^^. I'm using atm Navigon for navigation. My english was better but I haven't used it barely for 1 1/2 years so excuse me .
I need to thank you R3dbeaver because you showed me what you are doing with your N7. We are getting all our PDF files from our prof. so the quality of the PDF file is goood ( writen on PC and this **** ).
I am also someone how writes faster than typing. I think i will buy the N7 and use it exactly like you. A good combination of both things.

What they do is remove the spine and run it through a feed scanner, then spiral bind the book. From there they can save it in any format you desire. It's probably not something you're going to see advertised because I imagine it's not something they get asked to do a lot, but they do do it. It sounds like a lot more work than it actually is. I do this for a living for students with print disabilities, but I send students that don't qualify for the service to Kinko's if they want to do their own books.

I use the nexus 7 to read my heavy PDF textbooks with diagrams and pictures. Use ebookdroid (awesome app!) to auto crop pages and use landscape mode. Yes a bit extra scrolling but comfortable otherwise.
I just found out that the maker of our S-Notes did release their version to the Samsung market. (not only to the OEM)
It has one big feature: writing and convert later :victory:
The selection tool is also good.
It does also export to txt. :good:
But the rest is mostly the same as the S-Note, if not worse: :crying: No shapes, No Calc, limited choice of backgrounds and pen styles, no recordings, no Wolfram.
Perhaps a bit slower.

I see it's rather pricey too (€8).
But this price could also be considered good news if this app is intended to really become a full featured, "pro" version of SNote in the next future.
Anyway, at this stage, I don't think the price is worth it yet (considering the features present in SNote and not in the app and considering other good paid for alternative apps that are priced less than half).
I had it on my lenovo thinkpad as an oem version. It want perfect utilities the things it did it did well to me s-note is full featured but doesn't do the basics well enough so much so that it is nearly unusable. I can't for the life of me figure out why the basic function of converting handwriting to text is so poorly implemented that I never use it.

And, if you buy from Samsung, you'll only be able to access it on Samsung devices. Too bad it hasn't come to the Market. At least that way you don't have to pay twice.
Folks with the ThinkPad Tablet got caught that way. Bought it from Lenovo and now if they want it for their Note they have to buy it all over again.

It's pretty basic and missing many features of the S-Note, but I love it.
Because it convert a bit better, I didn't have any problems with : backslash or coma, numbers and the r.
Where the S-Notes makes me mad, you write a text, make a mistake and the problems begins: you try to correct, but loose the input focus when using the pen, so you use the arrow keys you get back at the end of line but forget the space... no easy way to put text blocks together.....
And so one....
The MyScript is almost as so good, as was my old Newton MP2100.
Could someone get a deeper look at the JB S-Notes, I know about the page slider, color picking, backgrounds, I also did peak something about "Import" ?
What else did change? Or is new?

MSN didn't work for me, so I bought it and asked for a refund in the first month. 7Notes with mazec is far superior IMO. It handles my chicken scratch writing much better than MSN ever did. Glad it works for you. SNote was much worse for me than MSN.

I don't see MyScript Notes in the Samsung App store. I am running a Galaxy Note 2, so maybe that explains it. I'd love to get my hands on that apk file.

I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 N8013...how come I cant find this app? It's not in the PlayStore, and I also cannot find Samsung Market on my tablet. I tried to install Samsung Market, but I dont see the app on my device.

As such, does a lot (& i mean lots) of freedom notes in meetings & such. Just retired my 7 year old HP TC1100 once I started using the Note. I'm a digital inker & live on LectureNotes & SNotes all the time. Am also a long-time Palm user, as such Graffiti for Android is my full time HWR 'keyboard'. I fly on Graffiti.
･ Lastly, for annotation on digital ink, Adobe Reader on Android & PDF Annotator on Windows are my friends.
･ Just sharing how I utilizes this excellent device. I believe if you write/ink freehand, Wacom & active digitizer cannot be beat & the Galaxy Note 10.1 is an excellent platform if this your workflow.

I can't even begins to express how delighted I am with the 10.1. Been looking for years for a modern device to replace my trusty Palm TX & Tablet PC. This is it. For pure digital inking noteslate, Note 10.1 fits my requirements perfectly.
Tried going the E-Ink route with Wacom on the Entourage Edge. Loved the concept, but so slooow!
Anyone else on this board using the Note solely for a pen & paper replacement? Like an A4/Legal notepad? Would love to hear your thoughts on going paperless & digital inking usage scenarios. I've been paperless for the last decade.
Um, my main purpose for the Note is a pen & paper replacement, but I do use it for browsing Reddit while pooping quite frequently. I also will use it to watch Netflix (since my desktop uses Linux and Netflix won't work on it without too much hassle). I mostly use it for taking notes in class (grad student) and it works great for that. I used to kind of just fling my notebooks around so I'd have a bunch of notes that I'd never really read over, but since I have synced my notes online, I can always access them to read at any time. It's pretty awesome.
I work in IT and my Note 10.1 has become liek a 3dd arm. All it needs is an ethernet port and it would be perfect. I use my for remote sessions, nowte taking during meetings, and so on. It gets used for hours every day.

I went paperless quite a few years ago and was using a Dell Latitude XT with OneNote. Had been looking for some time on a better solution. Purchased a Latitude XT3 just 6 months before the note launched. Now it is Note 10.1 and LectureNotes. It was hard to leave OneNote, but I have felt better about it lately. Can always export to pdf for import into OneNote if I ever need to go back. As an account executive, I take notes all day long and need to go back and refrrence them often in the future. Paper notebooks were just a waste for me. Carry my note everywhere now.
Couldn't be happier with this unit and I just bought a MacBook Air recently to do some of the heavier stuff, but this is still my favorite device.

Ha, I also still have my HP TC100 running win 7. Got it on ebay about 3 years ago. HP was way ahead of its time with this.
I am interested in finding the best pdf view editor and PowerPoint presenter. I have reported on the latter on the forum and trying to work with companies to make the software more useful. Not much movement so far.
For PDF I am experimenting with Adobe, RepliGo Reader, exPDF, OfficeSuite, Polaris and QuickOffice ProHd.
I do not have a report yet but two issues for me are fast rendering of each page (including large files) and inking. For inking, Adobe, RepliGo Reader, exPDF, and QuickOffice ProHd work ok. Adobe is the most basic and the others have choices such as width of line and insert of arrows etc.

The TC1100 is/was way ahead of its time. I agree. It is/was a joy to use though mine is still running on stock HP XP Pro SP3.
On the Note, Adore Reader is good enough for me: inking, strikethru, underlined etc. Polaris supports AllShare Cast for PowerPoint, so I bring along the Cast dongle to conference rooms as needed. It is small enough to stash in my briefcase. Having said that, I do missed presenting with full-on TPC with full Office suit like I did on the TC1100.
I find the Note snappy enough for my usage, even on huge PDFs. No issues so far. I load my own PDF templates for notetaking, whiteboarding etc.
One thing that tonk the TC1100 is the Note's battery life. Thin, light, all-day battery life & instant on is why I go for the Note. Of course, Wacom is Note's great advantage over other Android tablets. I can't stress that enough for users like us.

On the android side of things, there are some pretty good alternatives (especially if your company is on Google Apps) for note taking and archiving. There's Drive + Docs + Quickoffice for times when you need more complex documents, or evernote for times when you need plain text and files and everything attached in one place. You can also set up some pretty neat automations with a service called ifttt.com which will connect to lots of different accounts and shoot things around according to your instructions (for example: If I'm tagged on facebook, the picture is downloaded to a folder in my Drive account).

I agree with this options, i'm using several of them for personal documents and notes but for corporate documentation and meeting notes sometimes is difficult (or directly forbidden) to use this kind of "cloud" infrastructure.

I quite agree. Not in corporate environment, at least in my case. For me, that MicroSD slot is a lifesaver. Do the work I need to do out-of-office; at back to office, attach Note to USB and access data on PC. Also OTG USB to thumbdrive. Works for me. No "cloud" involved. The only cloud service I use is Email.

Ah!
I'm fortunate to work in an environment where cloud computing is not frowned upon (it's actively encouraged), so that tends to be the first thing I think about.

Actually polaris does not work correctly with AllShare.
Here is a portion of my review.
"I am on a quest(s) to find the best pdf reader, best PowerPoint presenter etc. I teach at a university and use powerpoint for lectures. I also give ppt lectures to professional groups, other universities, etc. What I am looking for is the best ppt presentation software and the ability to do the presentation remotely. I also do (with my win 7 lenovo tablet) portrait presentations, in which I have configured the table to simulate an overhead system where I can write on in "edit the ppt view" while the systems projects this to the class. So this is the back ground. I see great potential for the Note in many ways, but right now I am disappointed. What I hoping is that I can learn from you about this goal. Below I compare software that I have. I also compare with the Note hooked directly to the projector (hdmi or hdmi-vga) and with the allshare cast dongle. (*hdmi means hdmi or hdmi to vga, both direct to tv or projector). This results were a surprise and part of my current disappointment,

There are three display choices, primary monitor, duel monitor, controller and note. The first two work the same, bottom bar not hidden. The controller and not setting hides the bottom bar and gives the biggest projected picture (seems to be the biggest and best of all the I have tried). Works great with direct. With the allshare dongle, the first slide is fine. When the second slide comes up, the first slide does not disappear and for the second slide it only show in about ¾ of the screen in the upper left so you do not see the full slide. The rest of the screen is the first slide. This stays the same for the rest of the slides.
Does not work in profile."
First of all, is this not your expereince?
Second, I have been trying ot work with Polaris to see what is going on. Have had some success with email exchanges. They said that if the verion of Polaris is 4.0.5002.30 version, then it should work. I told them my version number is 4.05002.80, which is higher and it does not work correctly. They asked on Sunday (March 10) for a screenshot of the verison number. I sent that but have not heard back. ( i have emailed them and resent the screenshot, but no emails so far.

The version on mine is 4.0 5002.62-Fj03 & it works beautifully. Well for my usage. Set up the Cast, load ppt, hit slideshow & I'm set for drawing, annotate etc. Granted my usage is basic, with no Powerpoint slide creation at all (That's done by my PA back at office). Maybe you need more. A Windows TPC with Office suite works better for you maybe? As far as I can figure, there's no Office-compatible apps for Android. At least not yet.

Interesting that you have a different version and it is a lower number. When did you get your note. I wish I could see more of how this works for you.

Well this is what I thought might be the case. Was hopeful. Interesting that you got yours after mine and with Jelly Bean, but an older version of Polaris. Got mine months ago with ICS.
So I think that Polaris knew of a problem and then produced the next version (with the three display choices) to solve it. One of those choices as I pointed out hides the bar and only displays the ppt. But it does not work and Polaris now has not responded for almost a week. So that could mean 1) they are working on it, or 2) they do not care and are ignoring it. I hope #1.
A problem is that we cannot update Polaris from PlayStore if they do upgrade the software. It is all up to Samsung and thus complex. So my hopes are rather dim at this point and a response from Polaris would be encouraging..

Your comments got me thinking. So while at work today, I did a test:
･ RDP to my office pc and AllShare Cast the Note to the projected. Walla! Full Office ppt with all the trappings. Bit laggy connection but not discernable much.
･ The Note's Airview mode helps. Perhaps you can try this too.
･ Next up, I'm gonna try setup my own personal network and try the experiment at one of my client's conference room, who happens to be my college buddy.
