Frp7yd on HTC Hero - Hero, G2 Touch General

finally rooted my phone, BUT, it wont read the SD card, nor when i hook it up to my pc i can'y get anything to come up, i'm using Windows 7 x86, plz plz help
Android Version 1.1.1
Baseband 63.18.55.06PH_6.35.15.11
Kernel
2.6.29-ninpo
[email protected] #14
Mod Version
Froyd-1.1.1-Hero
and also launcher pro wont uninstall =[
Build Number
FrpydVillain1.1.1
and also my contacts won't update with their face beeok, except one... please help =[

1. (SD Card) try going into the settings and formatting it then remount it.
2. (Launcher Pro) Launcher Pro won't installed in the normal fashion because its installed the the system folder. You can get rid of it via ADB although Froyd doesn't have any other launcher installed so you will want to install another one before hand. (and if you install a new one you might as well just swap over to it rather than un-installing
Wez.

i tried to remount, and it wont even read it, when i hook it up to my pc nothing happens. it doesn't even read the new hardware or give me the option to just charge... =/

Ideally, i would recommend you update to latest Froyd 1.2.1, but I'm not sure of what the issue here is...
I'd suggest backing everything on SD to your PC via a card reader, then repartitioning it using recovery, and trying that.

ok, i can boot into carebear, what should i do next? a whole new root? and is Froyo the best ROM to use?

the thing is, i cant get into debugging,i can get into the carebear, but idk what to do from there -.-;

I have the same problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you attach it to your PC do you mount the sd card? If you drag down the notification bar when it is connected and select "usb connected" then choose "Turn on USB storage". This will mount the SD card.

there is no icon no mount i used the widget no luck

It isn't an icon to mount it. What widget are you talking about?
You simply drag down the notification bar > press "usb connected" > press "turn on usb storage"

You need to:
1. Download the latest version from http://www.villainrom.co.uk/releases/FroydVillain1.2.1/download.php
2. You simply drag down the notification bar > press "usb connected" > press "turn on usb storage" - alternatively plug the sd-card into an sd reader and follow the rest
3. Open the SD Card folder on your computer.
4. Copy the rom from your computer to your SD Card, do NOT change it, extract the files or put it in any folders
5. Unplug your phone and turn it off (put the sd card in now if you used the reader)
6. Turn the phone on by holding down Home and Power till you get to the custom recovery screen.
7. Select Wipe from the menu, then select:
Wipe data/factory Reset
Wipe Dalvik-cache
Wipe SD:ext partition
Press back button
Select Flash Zip from SD Card
Select the file
Click Confirm
N.B. Ignore any "errors", they are normal and usually mean you're not using that feature.
8. Once it is done, select Reboot and you will boot into the OS

in m,y phone it wont even read that there is an SD card -.-; and when i hook it to pc, it still shows none, i KNOW it works, its a braand new PNY 4 Gb...

As I said - hook it up to a sd card reader, place the files on the card and then boot into recovery with the sd card in and you should be able to flash from there.

it boots into carebear mode and doeskin recognize th3e flash name of the update.zip on my flash

nothing happens, it just charges when i hook it up to the pc, no notifications...

[Q] USB Mass Storage mode only for reading ?

I'm the only one having problems with usb mass storage? With all builds from all chef and all kernels it happens the same. I can read from the pc what is on the SD, but if I copy a file Android dont see it , the file size is 0. And new files created in android can't be readed by windows either (I can only read the files that were written on the SD before the last android boot)
I missing something? I tryied dismounting the SD from android with same results
Are you using it in the same way USB MASS STORAGE in WM6.5 ???
I use USB storage all the time and in every andrioid build I've used(about 20) I've never had any problems. There are many people like me that also have no problems, but there are also many like you that have plenty of problems. I'm not sure that anyone really knows why.

Thanks for answering. Do you have 2 partitions on the sd ?
Just want to check a few things:
1: you plug in via usb and select "disk drive"
2: you are not still connected via usb when trying to read the items on the sd card?
3: When you disconnect the usb, you use the usual method (right click the icon in the taskbar and select "safely remove hardware") then wait for the SD card to be prepared by android before accessing it?
Also, how are you accessing the files in Android?

1 & 2: Yes. Windows assing the drive letter and can read it fine.
3: I connect Android to pc, choose USB MASS STORAGE, in windows access the new drive letter, rename a file , choose "safele remove hardware", disconnect the cable, wait for Android to "prepare the sd" , go to the file and it has the old name!!! the weird thing is that if I connect to the pc again, I see in the pc the new name!
Is like Android is working with his own FAT32 table IN MEMORY and not refreshing it.
I tried Ghost Commander/ES file manager/Root Explorer, all with the same results.
PD: I found something else... If I DISMOUNT the SD from Android Im still able to access it with ES File Manager, etc. So its not really dismounting it Why can this be happening with all builds/roms?
I have the same problem. Strange thing is it worked fine fore the first couple of days. Anybody have a solution?
Try using "Rescan Media" app after you copy your files to the SD
Still nothing. I have to boot back into winMo to transfer files to my SD card! This is really annoying,
Plenty of other tools provide media scan as well, like Optimize toolbox, Switch pro widget and more. they all worked for me.
[edit] sorry, optimize toolbox doesn't offer it, it just clears the cache :/
power control plus however has this function as well.

[Q] Unable to connect USB or to unmount SD Card

Since a few days I try to connect my phone on my computer but each time I push the button "activate USB mass storage memory" my telephone reboots. I have the same result when I try to unmount my SD Card from: Options>Storage>Desactivate SD Card.
I tried to Format my Sd Card, to re partition it with Rom manager but it's always the same.
May-be a track: After formating my SD, if i try to connect my phone, every thing is fine. I imagine it comes from the folder ".android_secure" because when it's empty I can access my card but when it's full of my apps I can't, it reboots. Inside of it I have about 60 files for more or less 200Mo.
I even tried with another SD-Card and the result is the same.
May be something that could help: when I connect my phone the debug icon turns green.
Thank you by advance for any help you could give me.
Well, I tried something new after reading several posts in many differents forum.
First of all I tried to de select "USB debug" in "aplication>developpement" and I could connect my phone and see the content of my SD Card. My telephone didn't reboot.
Now, I've found an application called "Multi Mount SD-Card" that keeps me going in the menu Developpement each time to select or deselect "USB Debug". It works fine but I imagine it should'nt be like this.
Whatever, I've got the result I was expecting.

USB Mass Storage mode

ok i runing Oxygen and everithing is just fine, but i have one smaal problem: i can't use USB Mass storage mode.
Lets say the phone is turned absolutley off , when i turn it on and try to get in recovery mode the computer detects it and it shows it like CD Drive(empty), ok i tried some of the options of recovery- i mount/unmount, format , fix .. etc. still appear like CD Drive.
Ok i turned on the phone, and then i choose the android option to use the phone like USB flash drive, again it appeared like CD Drive , wich automaticly means only read but not write on memory card, and now every time i have to remove the card from the phone put it in SD card reader and upload on it some music, photos etc ...
Anyone with a solution?
1) First try another sd-card to see if the sd-card has a problem.
2) Either your ROM has a problem or it is your computer. Please try it again with another computer just to make sure that yours is not the cause for this behaviour.
3) If the problem persists try flashing your ROM again, but in recovery mode: Choose Wipe Data /Factory Reset, then go back to main menu. Choose Wipe Cache Partition, then go back to main menu. Go to Advanced and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache, then go back to main menu. This will delete all the data on the phone and make sure the ROM is installed properly.
Oxygen ROM do not allow to use Internal memory in usb mode, but sd card works 100% tested.
the worst thing for me is that, when im in recovery again appear like cd drive, so the phone for the computer from the begining is cd drive.
when i go in device manager it shows that HSUSB driver is not installed properly is it the same for you guys?
it only shows that my device is android usb device, but not mass stotage
THE same problem

THE same problem! How can you deal with it?
This thread is old...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk 2
The god dam windows and drivers was the problem. Actualy i have a huawei USB modem for internet, and the drivers which i used for the modem messed with the drivers for the phone. The solution was to remove the USB Modem drivers and then reinstall them again and this time the computer discover the phone like mass storage.

Transfer files from PC or ext SD from recovery?

Transfer files from PC or ext SD from recovery?
by OS is damaged and I can only get to fastboot, android recover, etc
How can I either restore a factory rom with RSD or fastboot or is there a way to access the external SD card from recovery?
I have tried using RSD light to load
1FF-olympus-user-2.3.6-4.5.141-111212-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P012.sbf
but it fails each time
the phone is Unlocked & rooted
I tried fix permissions, still fails

I'm not familiar with fastbbot and RSD could lead to more problems if done incorrectly so I would go the external way.
Do you have a card reader/usb for your micro sd card? If so, you can take your external out of the phone and install anything you want then turn off phone and put in your card again and access recovery.
Turn the phone on while holding "power" and "volume down" until white letters show up saying fastboot on the top right corner of the screen. Then release both buttons. It will still say fastboot at this point. Click the volume down button until it cycles to android recovery. Then click power up to enter recovery. Scroll through the menu down to mounts and storage and click the power button to select it. then scroll down again and select mount USB storage. Select it and then connect your phone to your pc and transfer the files you want. This is all assuming you've installed CWM or another 3rd party recovery.
I have CWM 4.0.1.4 installed
The restore continually fails and if I use advanced to try to restore the data folder on its own it says Error while formatting data
External 2gig SD Card placed in phone:
I cant find the external SD card in the list when I try to use it for installing a new ROM
Accessing phone via USB cable & PC:
when I go to mounts & storage / mount USB
it says,
USB Mass Storage Device
Leaving this menu unmount
your SD card from your PC
Unmount
**** Go Back ****
I connect the phone to the PC at this point and it does nothing, no beebs nothing...
I tried 2 different cables
it did when before...

[FIX] Stop Settings FC'ing when you select the Storage option

So, you're getting a Force Close when you select the Storage option in Settings, huh? Well, luckily, I discovered a fix!
Firstly, it's your external SD Card. Which, we will fix. However, first let's clarify the issue, just to be sure you are at the right place.
Settings -> Storage
When you click it, you may see it appear for a second, but then it closes and then you get the Force Close error. And no matter how many times you reflash or reboot, it's still there.
Now, you need to connect your external SD Card to your computer. You can do this by:
Inserting the card into a slot in your computer, if there is one
Inserting the card into a card reader connected to your computer
Plugging your phone into your computer and being able to browse it through two drives. You can browse the internal memory, or your external card. However, it is recommened you use one of the above methods
OK, so now, I'm assuming that you can browse your card's memory, right? Even if you can't because it's giving you formatting errors, don't worry. Because the fix will fix that too!
OK, so, now we have to format your card. A badly formatted or corrupted card is actually causing the FC.
So, if you're on Windows, you can use the command line to do it, or just the regular, easy way. Which we're going to do.
Windows
Go to My Computer
Open your SD card and make sure all files are backed up, if any
Right click your SD Card
Don't be an idiot. Double check that it's your SD Card
Click the Format option in the drop down list
Of course, format it. You'll need to select the options, however most of it is done. However, make sure in the drop down list that FAT32 is selected. It works best. You COULD try Ext4 afterwards if you still have the FC error, if you have that option.
De-select the "Quick Format" option in the window. Yeah, yeah. I know it's quick, but just do it.
When it's done, just to be sure, safely remove the drive. The quickest and easiest way to do this is right clicking the SD Card again, and selecting "Eject"
Click to collapse
Ubuntu (or similar Linux distribution)
Go to the file browser. You can select the Home option in the sidebar to do this quickly
Go on the SD Card, you can do this through the sidebar which lists the folders and such
Back up all your files if any
Open the Dash Home (you can press the Windows key to do this if you have it)
Search for "Disk Utility" and open it. If you don't have it, then, make sure you have the latest version of Ubuntu
In Disk Utility, navigate to the SD Card through the sidebar. It might have in small text "MMC/SD" in it's option
At the BOTTOM, select Format Volume. BOTTOM. Remember, at the BOTTOM. You want to format the volume. I'm not sure about the top format option.
OK, as always, fill the options in the windows. You might want to rename the card and stuff too. It's best to have the Ext4 or FAT32 option selected in the drop down list.
Format it!
Click to collapse
Now, pop the thing in ye phone.
Bro tip:
In Ubuntu, if you're getting the "Drive is busy" error when trying to format it, then, your best bet is to reboot your machine. If it doesn't work still, then reboot again, but perhaps with the card reader or SD Card out this time. Try a variation. If you still have no luck, Google is your best friend. I had this issue, and couldn't get it to work (however I was too lazy to reboot multiple times so whatever). I used Windows in the end, worked a charm. However because I wanted to do it nicely, I used command line to do it, as it's a really good pro tool.
So, hopefully you're not getting FCs now. If you still are, or need help with the instructions, just reply to the post. I'd prefer that you post in this thread than PM me as I get a lot of PMs and a lot to reply too.
