Current Location Unavaiable : Skyraider 2.5.2 - Droid Incredible General

I am having problems since I updated to Skyraider 2.5.2 with my location services.
None of the apps seem to get my location.
I have set to use 'My Location' under google services
Under 'Location Settings' I have checked both Google Location Services and VZW location services
Even when I enable GPS, the navigation is not going through. Are location services and navigation broken in Skyraider 2.5.2?
I also notice that the 'Privacy' option is missing under 'Settings'. Privacy configurations has been reorganised and put under some where else?

I am having the same issue, and I use my gps a lot so I need it to be working

I had this problem also but I re-flashed the rom and I no longer have the problem. I was wondering however, what happens when you uncheck VZW location services? I do not have this checked.

Need to update the baseband
Check which Baseband you are using (Settings>About>Software). You are probably running 1.00.03.xx.xx
In order for the GPS services to work correctly with 2.2 you need to update to the 2.x radio. Instructions towards the bottom of the OP: forum.xda-developers [dot] com/showthread.php?t=737400
Sorry for the poorly formatted link. I'm still not authorized to post links.

I had this problem when I tried to flash one of the hydra kernels on my SkyRaider 2.5.2 Vanilla DInc. Went back out to Clockwork recovery and wiped cache then it worked fine. Might try that to fix it.

Google Navigation - Checking navigation availability

FYI if anyone updated Google Maps you're probably having issues with your Google Navigation where it hangs at some "Checking Navigation Availability" screen.
Solution: Market -> Apps -> Long press Google Maps -> Uninstall Updates

This would be a good solution except that the latest Market update is broken too, and any attempt to access my apps or clicking any app results in a FC.

this is not a specific problem to galaxy s. I am having it on my desire and I took these steps, but it didnt work.
I was having the same problem after flashing Perception 10. All I did was clear the data in Google Maps and then I went to the Places app and nav'ed a location from there and it was successful there. So then I went back to navigation and it worked fine. :\
Google Navigation and TTS Service
I didn't want to start a new thread, but I wanted to post something that I noticed today.
I was playing with my Samsung Fascinate and used Titanium to (safely) freeze as many of the unused applications and services.
TTS service is Text-To-Speach, and, since I didn't find any warnings about it, I froze it. Soon after, I realized that the Google Navigation wasn't responding.
Long story short, after I unfroze TTS service, it worked again.
This is just for your information, in case that somebody gets into a similar situation. If this is a well known fact (that the noobie that I am didn't know about), I apologize. I only wanted to help.
all the best and thank you all for all the work
I still have the 'Update Maps' on my Market, but I didn't do it..
When I had Froyo 2.2 standard through Kies, I had no issues with my navigation.
After flashing Darky's v8.0 I'm also getting the "Checking Navigation Availability" screen. So none of the solutions above worked for me..
Anyone got an idea?
Thx.

tried the above solutions, still not working on my Galaxy Tab, still stuck on "Checking navigation availability".
Can anyone in Hong Kong confirm if Google navigation is active or not?
With the previous (stock) maps 4.5 navigation is notavailable in HK, but rumour seems that it should work with the new 5.0 maps update... anyone?
I have had this happen twice on my Vibrant. The first time the above suggestion to clear the data worked, but the second time it did not. I was however able to get around it by doing the following:
Close navigation, then open maps. In maps, go to menu > directions and enter any address (I used one from a contact), hit go, and once the directions are up, hit the navigation button in the upper right corner. That should start the navigation program normally (no "checking navigation availability" BS). Once the navigation starts successfully, you can exit and from then on it should start normally from the dedicated Nav icon.
Hope this helps at least one person.

Worked for me!
There must be some incompatibility between versions of Maps in the data coding memory!
Galaxy S ; Darkyy's ROM 8.0;No lag fix yet.
Goto manage apps and clear cache and data. See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2444687 of yuzaman!
works on galaxy S
worked for me after darkeys extreme update cheers
You rock!

Location awareness MN 4.5.6 NC 1.2

I am still hung up on Maps, News&Weather etc. not finding location or force closing. So question: I looked under /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db from root explorer and the value for "location providers allowed is GPS. Could that have something to do with my problems? Would changing it to Network do anything?
Not sure if the settings will help, but conventional wisdom on this issue is to run FakeGPS for this.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did install FakeGPS when I read somewhere in the forum that it works. It did make Google Search bar work and Google Maps stopped force-closing -- still keeps asking for location though--- but it had no effect on the News and Weather widget force-closing.

Facebook FCs - result of GPS?

The latest version of Facebook always force closes on me (after the first time it is loaded after a reload). I've read that the later versions of Facebook have a location function looking for a GPS or something to identify the whereabouts of the user. Is there a way to sideload an older version of FB that doesn't require location (or is there some other way around this)? I've tried setting the location in settings to every possible combination with no success.
I am running nightly 243 on my emmc. Thanks for any suggestions.
Install Gps teather lite. Start client then start facebook

Or, go to Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All, pick the Facebook app and click on Uninstall. Since the Facebook app is part of the default GAPPS package, it will uninstall the update, and revert you back to the original (working) version.
I personally use an app called "Fake GPS" which does essentially the same thing that @ndinfla was talking about. It fakes a GPS location, and the newest Facebook app no longer crashes.
Either option should work for you.
Thanks to you both.
Is there a way or version that will not require the 'faking'?
Have you tried using LBE Privacy Guard to block the Facebook GPS request?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lbe.security.lite
Thanks I'll give that a try as well.
LBE works like a charm! I had no idea that that was what's crashing FB. Thanks for the tip!

[Q] S4 Google Location settings

I apologize if this was repeated - the search toolbar isn't working.
I'm having trouble with my phone recognizing that my location settings are on.
I open g+
press 'locations'
an error pops up that says 'location reporting must be enabled'
it gives me an option to 'go to location settings'
i go there and everything is set to on/checked
when my boyfriend tries detecting me on google maps, it says i am sharing my location with him, and he can't see me. i try all of that again, and its one giant circle of nothing getting accomplished. Anyone else having this issue?

There are two places to turn on location, one is in the phone settings/locations the other is for google to access those locations in accounts/google/location access. Double check that those are both on, then go into maps/settings/location access and make sure that is enabled as well as location history and location reporting. Just going of of memory on this one but I think this should get you going.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately EVERYTHING is on, everywhere. I've triple checked it all. Yet my phone still detects that something isn't enabled. That's what I'm confused about!

I actually figured it out...luckily with timing on my side, I went into the google latitude website where I had my location as hidden. that's why it wasn't showing up! I turned it to 'detect my location' and I showed up on the maps! Thanks for your help!
Nice, glad you got it all sorted out.

(Q) Location in google maps is greyed out

Hello. Well I noticed my location in google maps is greyed out but still is able to track where I am
Whys is this happening since before it was working perfectly. My GPS works fine with all other apps but this has been a recent issue with google maps only. I wouldnt really care but every time I tried to set a route with the starting point as my location I get the unable to reach servers try again later and have to set the starting or end point manually for it to work.
I have marshmallow 6.0,1 installed and the latest version of google maps dated for the time I am posting this
any help with this issue?
Mine works just as expected. Have you tried wiping data on the app, clear cache, force stop and then restart phone. Also check all location settings not just in settings menu but in Google settings as well. And make sure permissions for the app are granted for location.
I just updated to the latest android 6 version and the problem is solved
