I got it to work with the ported android on my hd2...but there is no front facing camera so its a little pointless but still cool...
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

I can make a call now but I cant get the camera to work for the video part. I'm running Energy Sense.

How can video calling work on the HD2??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Utilizing the camera. You would just have to turn your phone around. I have done it with the Vibrant and its just neat to have and to play around with.

Or hold the camera towards ur face, then the LCD is looking at a mirrow.
Too bad no one makes a USB camera for the HD2, like some I have seen. Then
the problem is solved.
BTW what phone model did you select to download the Fring.?

It was a cab file that I found and downloaded it. It didnt ask for the type of device. It looks like its for the android base though. I havent been able to get the camera fixed. I woukd like to get this working. If you know the correct file can you steer me in the right direction?

I thought you could use the main camera as the video camera, at least when a new dialler comes out anyway?
Yea, this is the most disipointing act from HTC. Its like removing the ability to sms

I think there's a MASSIVE difference between sending SMS and video calling. The majority of people on this forum, before the HD2 came out, had agreed that it was a bit strange, but they could live without it. The majority of people also admitted that they'd only ever used video calling once or twice, and that was just to play with it.
I think you may have exaggerated slightly!
Oh.. and wait for the obvious childish post of "They did remove the ability to sms"
If you are running android you can download Tango and video chat using main camera. you just need a mirror.

Google better make this right fast! come on guys, seriously..
you probably want the htc version of youtube. its the pretty red one. not the ugly google one. why didnt google just cab up htcs version?
Google stuff looks crappy by design. I pretty much like the HTC Youtube Cab, are there any significant advantages of the original one?

lol ya tried that one too. tells me installation unsuccessful. running official 6.5 and cf3.7 if that matters.
you need 2.5 for windows mobile 6.5.
Here you go.. found this today! go to the link and you'll find a cab for the stock HD2 youtube, it works perfectly on my touch pro 2. There are other great goodies to download from the link, thx to kurniawan77...

This is sort of my first real post, so hopefully I'm not doing anything wrong.
These are cab extracted from the HD2 and most of them work perfect on my touch pro 2
The YouTube cab is the one that came originally with the HD2 and similar/if not the same to the one that came with the touch pro 2. I tried it and it worked perfect!!!!
thanks to kurniawan77..
ENJOY!
tjworldgreatest, you are the best! of course that worked!! flawlessly, finally I don't have to cringe while watching some videos..I was never into the full user experience on Youtube, so I really don't care about my login stuff anyway..
does the hd2 version of youtube bring anything extra? i might get bored and install it.
^^not that I could tell..Looks exactly the same. Both versions are still 2.6..

Oh Yeah....
Your going to get that on any of the ripped HTC YouTube versions....they dont support landscape, expect for when the video plays.
With search and what not in the menus, you have to use on screen keyboard.
They arent meant for our devices...
the stock version of youtube for rhodium has landscape support.

[Q] Phone to PC Video Chat

So I am trying to set up video chatting for phone to PC use. I have found that Yahoo works, but it only comes out the back camera of my phone. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Or is this standard? If so, are there any other apps?
I have only ever heard of Yahoo working from phone to PC. Thanks in advance.
My ffc worked before I installed CM7. I also have been trying to figure this out. help!
I also want to know!

I am pretty damn surprised that this isn't a more popular question. Barely any replies. I still have had no luck with any phone to PC that works with FFC.
I see you are in Maui. Right on bra, born and raised. Live on the mainland now. Upcountry represent. MAUI BUILT.
Look for "CM7 Yahoo camera fix" or something like that, in Development forum.

i have the same problem but i dont think it has anything to do with cm7.. yahoos video chat doesnt work with gingerbread. thats why i think it doesnt work right. but im not 100% sure of that but makes since. it doesnt show that it works for gingerbread if u read what devices it supports for the add on video chat thing for yahoo messenger
Google coming out with their gtalk app its a pc to phone phone to phone app. Wait for that as it will be significantly better. Yahoo won't work as it looks for the hacks in froyo to get the ffc to work they need to upgrade for gingerbread support so that that can use correct api.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
yeah, I thought it was really funny how the day after I posted in this topic, Google made that announcement.
also, I'm born and raised here in Maui as well, but I'm moving to Honolulu in a few weeks.
Cant find gtalk on the market right now, my guess the new version will be out very soon.

Google Talk with A/V for Gingerbread roms

Just thought I would let devs in the i9000 forum know that people already have the new 2.3.4 Google Talk app ripped from the NexusS roms and I have confirmed i IT WORKS in our i9000 gingerbread roms. More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793
The one thing is I can't figure out how to switch it to the front facing camera. It's always using the rear one.
EDIT: Actually it is not sending video I was mistaken. I can see video though
Thanks looks good gonna try now

[DONATION] Donation towards fully working skype video calls

Hi,
I would like to start a donation pool towards a fully working Skype video calling.
I will be the first to donate.
I would like to see it on the ICS (Alpha2) or its off spring.
Good luck,
Developers : please post your interest here, and how you want to proceed
Users: please make your pledges here
thanks

Might be a tough bill to fill as there isnt even a video app available for WebOS. Maybe they just never got around to it, or the hardware just doesnt support it. Even though it was an advertised feature

With its 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam, TouchPad offers video calling capability.(11)

That or its just more of HP's famous false advertising...you decide.
After searching a bit, looks like it was the same as it was with the Palm Pixi, an advertised feature that didnt exist at launch, but was later introduced in an OS update. I believe WebOS v3.04 gave support for Camera and Video Recording, Making Skype video calls possible. So it is certainty hardware capable. Id imagine as soon as any other ICS ROM gets a working camera, this one will be soon to follow.

I am not a big fan of bounty threads and will close this thread down if people start asking for any money to work on this.
However, if people would like to pledge money that they pledge to donate to a developer after the work is done...so be it.
Just don't start sending donations until you see the goal realized and send your donation directly to the developer. No middlemen or THREAD CLOSED.
OF COURSE XDA has nothing to do with these pledges, and will do nothing to ensure they paid...so user beware.

I've done video calls using my touchpad multiple times using the "Phone and Video Calls" application. You can add your Skype account on there as well.

I dont know what jhayton is talking about but you can certainly make video calls in webOS.
Im sure any progress towards using all of the touchpads capabilities on android are appreciated.

Camera is not working in Android is because of Driver issue...its works great in Webos for taking pictures and skype calling...Cm team is already working on the fix...so is other teams....
