I know directions say to press and hold X and power button, then to close the slider and press volume up and camera at the same time. However once I get to the droid screen with the yellow triangle the volume up and camera, pressing volume up and camera does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Turn the headset off
Hold the X on the keyboard and Power Button until a yellow triangle appears on your screen
Hit the Search button on the keyboard (the magnifying glass) This will start the recovery console
Using the volume up/down keys highlight the desired recovery action, then select it by pressing the camera button.
Textual status data appear at the bottom of the screen (mine was yellow)
Using the volume up/down buttons highlight "Reboot System Now" then select by using the camera button.
Once the handset reboots, "Welcome to Android/Start up screen appears"; from here everyone should know what to do

and how do i do a master reset?
Thanks
Jason
Heres more info... If i open the keypad it's like the arrow key is stuck in the left to right direction.(scrolls up and down on screen) If i hit a key on the keypad it stops.. and when i close it it scrolls again (right to on screen left).. and hitting a key fixes it... Any ideas?
hard reset:
comm manager + Voice record + reset
Release reset while holding the other buttons
Prompt on screen follow directions
Hard reset from UI: go to programs/ Clear storage. it will ask you to type in 1234 and press the "yes"soft key.
If you ever decide to flash your rom with one of the roms here you will NEED this:
BOOTLOADER MODE: (in case you don't read all of the directions)
Camera+Reset. Release reset while holding the camera button.
when the screen turns 3 collors plug the phone back in to the computer and rerun the rom utility.
also make sure that you figure out if your wiz is G3 or G4, and the roms are apropriate to your model
Well it's a g3 i just unlocked it.. any word on the sticky key issue? can i clean it or is it software?

Deleted by me.... Was for Motorola Droid, Not Droid X
4.Hold power + X to boot into recovery?
5.Wait for the symbol triangle with exclamation point to appear and release Power and X?
7.With your D-Pad, navigate to “apply update.zip“, and hit the gold button to execute the command?
X button? D-Pad? I think this is for Droid 1 not Droid X...

From that site:
Hold power + X to boot into recovery.
Wait for the symbol triangle with exclamation point to appear and release Power and X.
Press the volume up and camera button at the same time for the text to show up (you may have to do this a couple of times)
With your D-Pad, navigate to “apply update.zip“, and hit the gold button to execute the command.

These are the instructions for the Droid. Not The X.
I wonder if it works with the Droid X? You know by doing the Droid X boot instead. hmmm
Below are instructions to do a factory reset on X... Can this method be implemented? assuming that this is a Froyo update for the X?
To Format:
1)Turn off the phone
2)Hold the Power Button and the Home Button. The Moto logo will pop up followed by a triangle with the Android symbol next to it.
3)Press the Search button to display the menu.
4)4 options will pop up, use the Volume Rocker to move the selection up or down.
5)Select “Wipe Data to Factory Default.” Select the option by using the Camera hard key.
6)Confirm choice by using the camera key.
7)It will take you back to the original menu, select "Reboot Device"
You will have to re-program your phone with OTA updates.

I'm sure that the process would work. However, I doubt that the ROM is really for the X... why would it be hosted at Google.
It makes sense that the Droid 1 Rom would be since it was an official 'Google' phone without all of the fluff. But X has the Blur stuff, etc.
Yeah, just looked throught the zip file and no blur apk's.... not even a mention of blur...
why would a site put that info up? what a tease
This is for the D1. Follow the link to droidlife...... what a bunch of crap!

I was sending a text message and when I tried to long press the 'm' key to type a question mark I realized all of my long press punctuation options are gone. Puzzled, I looked in the keyboard's settings for a solution but couldn't find anything. I find it much less convenient to have to press the Sym button every time I want to insert punctuation. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ok I did a factory reset but my keyboard still isn't fixed. Now I'm starting to wonder if it even had that feature in the first place. It did, didn't it?

Is grabing the key .
*EDIT: When i press "m" or other letter i haven't nothing sorry
That is so weird. I swear I could long press a letter and it would come up with a symbol. Oh well thanks for your help
For anyone interested, I did find an app that adds this feature onto your stock keyboard called Samsung Keyboard Alt Symbols, and it can be downloaded through the Xposed Installer.
So, I was attempting to remap my keys in order to restore the old menu/recent apps behavior (editing generic.kl), and something went wrong. I lost the use of Volume Down, Back, menu, and Power (?!). The backup I thought I'd made was missing, as well.
I replaced generic.kl with the file provided by @arjundev1 below, erased the cache partition, and rebooted... and got nothing. No change. As it stands, I've used this app to restore functionality to VOLUME_DOWN, MENU, and POWER (I can access APP_SWITCH by pressing the home button again after using it to return to the home screen), but the power button still fails to turn off the screen or present a power menu. Furthermore, in order for this app to restore this function, I have to use its keyboard instead of Hacker's Keyboard or any other full-sized layout.
I know it's a software issue because I use the same power button to turn the phone on (including accessing ODIN or RECOVERY mode), and the aforementioned app even registers the key press if I try to [re-]map it. It just doesn't do anything. I'm currently using either a widget or rom toolbax's rebooter menu to power down or reboot, and another widget to turn off the screen. Everything else on the phone appears to be working normally.
I edited no other files during the original remap attempt; only /system/usr/keylaout/generic.kl
let helped
I help like me.
[updated OP]
Thanks! For some reason, that didn't fix it as I thought it would. I didn't edit any other files. What else could be causing this?
new hope

YAY, Progress! Menu, Back, Volume Down- all work as expected. Power wakes the screen and turns it off.
One last thing. Holding down the power button fails to bring up the power menu. What might control this?
Thx
