Deleted by me.... Was for Motorola Droid, Not Droid X
4.Hold power + X to boot into recovery?
5.Wait for the symbol triangle with exclamation point to appear and release Power and X?
7.With your D-Pad, navigate to “apply update.zip“, and hit the gold button to execute the command?
X button? D-Pad? I think this is for Droid 1 not Droid X...

From that site:
Hold power + X to boot into recovery.
Wait for the symbol triangle with exclamation point to appear and release Power and X.
Press the volume up and camera button at the same time for the text to show up (you may have to do this a couple of times)
With your D-Pad, navigate to “apply update.zip“, and hit the gold button to execute the command.

These are the instructions for the Droid. Not The X.
I wonder if it works with the Droid X? You know by doing the Droid X boot instead. hmmm
Below are instructions to do a factory reset on X... Can this method be implemented? assuming that this is a Froyo update for the X?
To Format:
1)Turn off the phone
2)Hold the Power Button and the Home Button. The Moto logo will pop up followed by a triangle with the Android symbol next to it.
3)Press the Search button to display the menu.
4)4 options will pop up, use the Volume Rocker to move the selection up or down.
5)Select “Wipe Data to Factory Default.” Select the option by using the Camera hard key.
6)Confirm choice by using the camera key.
7)It will take you back to the original menu, select "Reboot Device"
You will have to re-program your phone with OTA updates.

I'm sure that the process would work. However, I doubt that the ROM is really for the X... why would it be hosted at Google.
It makes sense that the Droid 1 Rom would be since it was an official 'Google' phone without all of the fluff. But X has the Blur stuff, etc.
Yeah, just looked throught the zip file and no blur apk's.... not even a mention of blur...
why would a site put that info up? what a tease
This is for the D1. Follow the link to droidlife...... what a bunch of crap!

Hi pls help,
Just got an At&T Fuze......its got couple of inbuilt themes but when I apply it doesn't change......i tried all of those but it remains d same.......do i need to unlock something or some problem with my fone???
Any help is appreciated.......thanks in advance....
Get TF3D
I'm assuming you mean the TouchFlo 3D theme and not the windows theme?
You need to download and install TF3D found in this section. Then find a theme, there are plenty posted on here as well.
No by theme i mean the actual theme........taskbar....the bottom bar...menu...etc.....it just remains the same even after applying new theme.....is it some problem with my fone??
pls help
Are you clicking the "ok" in the top right after you select the theme? I just got a Fuze yesterday and no problems switching themes here...
Try what Maxxpower just said.
If it's not that then I doubt there's a problem with the handset... just the software. Try reflashing it with a rom or something?
I had that problem with my fuze too, something messed up during the initial setup and the top and bottom bars were green and never changed with any theme.. may not be the answer your looking for, but a hard reset fixed it for me.
Hard Reset:
Take off back cover, remove stylus.. find red "reset button".
Hold down Volume Down and Main Circle Button... press red reset button with stylus at same time. Release reset button keep volume down and main button pressed.
Wait for some text to come up on screen, press volume up to continue, press volume up to reboot.
Just incase OP didn't know =]

Or just go to Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage> Type 1234 and click yes
lol. Wasn't that easier? haha it's just another method. I prefer the above method when you can't access the device at all. This one is much smoother and faster since you only have to type instead of opening and clicking and holding. Just my opinion
thanks a ton guys!! i will try a hard reset and hope it works.........

I had no idea that this method was the same was a hard reset
Once this thing gets rooted (and it will be popular enough to gain a lot of mind power to get it done quickly), how do you guys think using the recovery console will work considering there is no trackball? Would it be as simple as mapping up/down scroll to volume keys or navigation buttons in the recovery image? Just some thoughts on what a rooted EVO will work.

yep. just that simple.
In simple terms... when you press any button the phone tells the running program "hey a button was pressed". In the code of the program you can say "if I get a message about a button being pressed then run this bit of code". That little bit of code looks at the original button pressed message and figures out which button was pressed and then what action to take.
So right now on the hero trackball down means move menu down. All that move menu down code stays the same. All you have to do is say voldown means move menu down.
I am sure there will be a bunch of stuff that needs to be changed but as for remapping what the keys do you literally don't even need to rewrite a line of code... just one variable name within that line.
I know directions say to press and hold X and power button, then to close the slider and press volume up and camera at the same time. However once I get to the droid screen with the yellow triangle the volume up and camera, pressing volume up and camera does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

I do not own a Droid X, but in android the Yellow Triangle means recovery. double check your buttons.

Turn the headset off
Hold the X on the keyboard and Power Button until a yellow triangle appears on your screen
Hit the Search button on the keyboard (the magnifying glass) This will start the recovery console
Using the volume up/down keys highlight the desired recovery action, then select it by pressing the camera button.
Textual status data appear at the bottom of the screen (mine was yellow)
Using the volume up/down buttons highlight "Reboot System Now" then select by using the camera button.
Once the handset reboots, "Welcome to Android/Start up screen appears"; from here everyone should know what to do
When i boot into clockworkmod recovery menu, i can use the volume button to move up and down between the menu items but when i try to select the option by using the power button it simply turns the screen off ( brings up a clockworkmod logo). How do i select a menu item from the clcokworkmod recovery menu.
With the trackpad. The little mouse ball at the bottom of the phone.

HAH, thank you thank you ! I had the same problem. Ive had this phone for a year and forgot that it came with a little optical trackball. I never use it !! Totally saved me.
In some applications (e.g. minesweeper 3d) it's the only way to select (highlight) a list item.
is there anyway to do this? why isnt there a menu key!
There is......It's the button on the right. They did away with search button not the menu button, is this your first Android?

no its not my first android lol , the one on the right? that brings up a long list of junk, not the regular menus (recent apps) i guess? al my other android devices, Droid, Droid2, and Bionic, all had menu buttons available any time for settings, i was wondering if there was a way to do this, as they have on the nexus phones, (yes i tried flashing it, dont do it was a bad idea.)
anyone else? the soft key on the right is the square with another behind it... brings up recent apps
It's a good idea to read up on the new version of android before posting topics to which the answer is a single google search away.
Android 3.0 did away with the menu button. now it only shows up when needed for an older app. new apps have a dedicated menu button in their UI.
you can access the settings through the notification drop down.
You must be coming off an old version of Android. The button you are looking for will be 3 little dots to the right of the square on square button. It will only appear if the app needs it. http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/01/say-goodbye-to-menu-button.html

Could not have said it any better.
Instead there is a contextual menu key (either top or bottom right for some reason) of 3 dots. Does that not work for you?
