[Q] Froyo ports with multiple exchange server support - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey all!
This is something I've been wondering about for quite a while now and I couldn't really find any answers to these questions:
Why do so many of the Android versions available on this forum not support multiple exchange accounts, eventhough they're Froyo, which is supposed to support this?
Which Android versions available DO support multiple exchange accounts? I'm currently testing "dan1j3l V1" and multiple exchange accounts work great! But the port itself hasn't been updated in a while and is not the smoothest or stablest in comparisson to other ports.
Is there any way of knowing beforehand, if a port will support multiple exchange accounts without testing it?
I would be very thankful for any insight on this matter!

Come on! Somebody has to know something about this!? This is xda - home of the most ingenious wm & android geeks in the world!?

Ask the dev's that build the android ports.. they'll have an answer for you, heck why not post in they're already open threads??

Again, i would run the different builds and test myself but i don't use exchange. also you can ask the dev's in they're threads if it does support it, and i'm sure someone will respond.

Ask the dev in they're threads if they didn't mention it already in they're first or second post.

Well, guess what I did before opening this thread? I asked in the various port-threads... An noone responded!
EDIT: I think my question is too specific - although that suprises me. I would have expected that many members of xda use exchange and atleast some of them would have the same problem (wanting to access two exchange servers). But unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case...

ahhhh, i see, that'd be the reason for the thread well honestly i've never used exchange in the various threads. Wish you the best man. i hope you get some responses.
suggestion tho, if you give them a try, maybe post a result up in post 1 detailing you're results in the various builds and notify the rom creators that way we sorta have a rollup on exchange function with all the various builds.
Also yknow the develoupment for android on our HD2's is still very early in the process. Maybe a little premature to be asking for exchange from the dev's as i'm sure they're focusing on allot of other device specific porting. But still good to know.
Peace,
Josh

Don´t know much about the ports you´re talking about but did you have a look at
TouchDown ? I´m using 2 exchange accounts and it is running for me without any issues.

Best Stable ROM w / Full Exchange Support

Hello All, I am considering purchasing a MyTouch 3G but need full Exchange Support. Which ROM out there is my best choice? It needs to be stable for day to day use with Bluetooth and WiFi working. Any recommendations would be greatly appriciated. Otherwise, I may end up going with the Touch Pro 2. Thanks.
I use this one, it's superb

Hello All, I am considering if you even tryed to use the search there should plenty of info about this around.
Further more i wonder if you even tryed to read the sticky topic "Please dont start a new thread if something like this happens"
Q- Which ROM is best for me/ Which ROM is the best for 32A/B?
A- Take some time on the forums, look at the ROMs available for your device and individually assess what works for you by reading the various issues affecting them and make a decision. If that still doesn't work out for you, hey, that's what makes XDA great, try a different one and so on, till you find one that YOU'RE happy with. It's very subjective since what my needs are could be totally different from what yours are.
There ya go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555499
Edit: reported for being a noob creating an profile and posting his first question in the wrong category without even reading the rules or trying to make a search on the subject!
Wrong forum section dude, try general instead. Thread has been reported.
MOD EDIT
Moved to general forum. In future please try and post in correct forum.
HINT - For example in your case, ask yourself is your query about themes, software, games, android development etc. No its not, so post in general.
First, sorry about posting in the wrong thread. I thought a question about rom's would go in the rom's forum, guess I was wrong.
Second, I have spent time, a LOT of time, searching the forums regarding which rom to use. I was hoping to get feedback from other people that have been using them in regards to my specific requests - Exchange, WiFi and Bluetooth. Honestly, the forums get really confusing with the multiple names the devices have, the cross device porting and such. It is not a simple task to find a ROM with XYZ. Plus the forums do not always state what does work. I was just looking for some feedback before sinking a couple hundred bucks on a phone. Sorry for being a noob.
_Belial, thank you for your recommendation.

Well i guess many people using xda started to get frustrated and annoyed about how hard it can be to find what you seek. But one of the reasons for it is that things started to get messy cause of to many topics concerning the same problems/solutions.
We all been new around here once and we can all make mistakes so no hard feeling. At least we have some good moderators trying to get things in there right places
i think the question about full exchange support is a valid one.
there are many roms out there that support exchange, but they only support email, not calendar and contacts, and the change log doesn't always reflect this.

[Q] Subforums for Sense/Stock builds in the Dev section ?

As it appears people clearly like or dont like HTC Sense, would it be possibly to add these options to the dev forums, its getting really confusing trying to follow/ find anything with the page's updating every second and the random names dev's use to tag there builds

Nope but obviously someone needs help on learning on how to throw together a witty non valid comment... it's a simple suggestion on cleaning up the forums to make them more user friendly, now, back under your rock troll...
I was going to suggest something similar too.Another thought was to not have so much discriptions on the headings, maybe just the basics of what is there. Then more detailed info when the thread is opened, maybe.I find it pretty confusing the differentiate between some of the builds.
I'm almost changing on a two daily basis my android roms and am very grateful for all the hard work being put into this so keep up the good work and thanks
I have to say its rather easy for me to figure out what type of build it is.
maybe its just me. Usually there is something in the header that tips me off.

I hope you see the difference between me (troll) and you. Check the titles, waste some more time to install all the builds and you will find which developer and what build is what with what.
Thank you!
Your correct, Titles tell us everything
[BUILD]Mdeejay FroYo HD v.3.3 beta|1.24.405.1|kernel: hastarin r 7.1
must therefore be a Stock build.... oh wait, its Sense.
I could list various titles for hours with the amount of releases there is on a weekly basis, see what im getting at here ?
The suggestion I made has nothing to do with testing builds, what developer to use, or any other of the random questions about builds that are flooding the forums, its about a creating a simple sub forum so the two variations of releases can be easily distinguished and found by the user looking for it, and probably give a little leeway to the dev's from the constant requests they get to do a alternative build with/without sense, simple organisation allowing less clutter and less load on the xda servers search function.
No need subforums for Sense/Stock, Stock build is dying, in a few days you won't able to find any stock build in the first few pages, there are will be Sense and EVIL Sense...

Isn't HD in the title as Rom from Desire HD?
Plus most developers if not all put some screen shots at the end of their first post.
And we are talking for how many android roms in total? 10? Thats nothing compared to WM roms and GTX themed or Max-Sense. Needless to say the mess with the builds for 6.5 and 6.5.x builds. As soon as people get acquainted with what they have its fine.

How about a Read-Only" forum for the Devs?

I have no idea where this should be posted, but since I have a Vibrant, and I know there is a lot of development going on with that platform, I figured I may as well post it here. I actually suggested this in the Bionix thread, but it got buried in all the other chatter pretty quickly. Hence, the reason for this post.
I think it would be great if the active devs here had read-only forums where they could post updates on their development efforts. That way people (non-devs mostly) could subscribe to those threads and get notifications whenever they post something. The ROM threads get so big so fast, it is hard to keep up without reading them several times a day (heck, several times an hour!).
This would require the admins here to set up the forum and grant editing rights to the active devs. Then a process would have to be developed to decide when new devs could be added to the list. In my mind, the way I envision this working is there would be one forum (call it "Developer's Corner" or something like that) and in it would be different threads for each development project. You subscribe to the threads that interest you and BAM, you are getting notifications from the forum when the devs post something there.

Devs rely on users to post bugs so they can fix them. How would this be possible with such a system?
...by sending bugs via PM to the dev?

Why would you do that? Just use bug tracker on Google projects, it is far more organized e.g. http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/list
The idea of a read-only forum is just awful. If you want to follow the developer's progress then follow them on Twitter. You don't have to read every post, use the search functionality WITHIN that thread to search only in that thread to look for what you desire to find.
The real solution is to post a separate thread for each release. That way you know that everything in that thread is pertinent to that release and aren't looking through old replies that don't even matter anymore.

There would still be open forums (the ones that already exist) in which people will be able to post questions, bugs, etc.

I didn't know anyone here was using the G bug tracker. That is a good idea.
As for using twitter, I am sad to admit that while I use twitter, I hadn't thought of following the devs there. I will take care of that today.

This is also a very good point. The differences between some of the different revisions is quite drastic, and having all of the revisions in one thread is counter-productive.
The bottom line here is the current method creates one big mess and there is clearly room for improvement. I think if the devs had a way of posting announcements for which users can opt-in to receive notification when those announcements are posted, then that solves one small portion of the mess.
Would that be so bad?
You have just described Twitter.
I was under the impression that one dev didn't want to know about bugs in their roms inside of their threads.

Only if it's super buggy and they know it is buggy, no reason to post bugs then.
Back on topic: Your idea got buried because it sucked. People read through all that, not everyone, but some do.

Often when someone posts something that they already know is full of bugs they will ask people to not post about them, just because they are already known issues.
Al right. I guess it's just me then.

Apparently, that is the case.
Yeah, I believe it had to do with him not sharing it. I think it all started when CM started to announce and work on the official build and were wanting to use his kernel as a base/starting point but he wouldn't give it out? I don't know, I just remember something similar to that happening in the Offical CM topic.

that doesn't make any sense, if CM actually wanted to do an official HD2 build everyone would benefit, doesn't make sense for him not to release his kernel source.

There has to be a reason why he refuses to share his code, if this is true, i would be really careful with those roms he created. think about it, everybody else shares their code (its a requirement) but when they asked him to share his, he disappears? I hope I am wrong...
It sucks that he's not around right now before this stuff went down he promised an update and i'm jonesing for one!
I've moved to another build, but don't like it as much.

ROM for particular needs.

Hi all.
First, biggest respect and thanks to everyone for spending their time and putting their input in this source of information. I know, that my question can make some people irritated and trigger some flame and negative response. I have read silly questions like “which rom is the best” and smth and understand this... I have gone through number of threads and hundreds of posts, searched but did not find answer in questions concerning me and maybe some other people. I’m using my phone not just for fun but for business as well, so I have no time to do it and keep it as testing platform... I’m sorry for this, and I think I could help developers with donation instead of testing various roms and posting of mine experience here. So, I’m just asking for useful advice, pisstakers and people having nothing good too say, thanks but maybe u could just not flood up this thread. Ok, let’s go...
Can you tell me your opinion about the NAND rom which would suit these needs best. I'm searching for ROM with the best productivity and stability. Saying productivity I mean flawless synchronization with MS outlook contacts and calendar (necessary) and preferably tasks as well at first... And stability and battery drain, also as many features as possible working as bluetooth, tethering, email, etc, etc..
As we know synchronization with MS outlook is weakest side of android yet, although some handset manufacturers making their software to resolve this issue. This is seems not most important thing for most people here, because after searching it looks there is something like white spot on the map about his.
I have my Dell Streak on android froyio 2.2 as my first android learning thing, before I was winmo user... I really like android as better and more perspective OS comparing with dying winmo, so I would like to make my HD2 android which is my business phone more... When I reflashed Dell Streak with froyio 2.2 I lost sync ability with outlook. With help of this forum I installed Deja Office which resolved sync problems.
And now, having read many posts I think I would like to go for gingerbread version, but there is nothing mentioned about synch with ms outlook even there is said that USB SD card mounting-unmounting is not working properly... Deja Office works this way by mounting-unmounting SD volume during synch, so it may not work with gingerbread...Should I go for another one rom? Which one? btw HTC HD 2 with 512 MB (non T-Mobile)
I don’t know, give me some info please and then I will help with donation to developer which rom I will find best for me. Sorry again for trying to get it ready from you instead of testing myself every rom here, but as I said, everybody can make it’s own different input in this board.
Thanks

In hopes to add something to this thread other than uselessness, if your looking for something simple and great on battery life then give tytungs gingerbread ROM a shot. Most Sense ROM's are not the best on battery but they aren't terrible on battery either. Anyways, good luck on finding the ROM for you.

Thank you very much motoman. This is the first at least more positive and constructive response... But mine biggest issue is the best synchronising with MS outlook. And I posted this jjust because after reading lots of posts and threads I find almost no information about this.

Jokes aside.
Try a sense rom, I find they have all your professional needs built in.
Tethering will not work on any android build, for all of them you have to download a separate app for it to work.
I don't see why a gingerbread build. What siginificant advantages does it have over Froyo?
Since you have a 512 HD2, get a squashed sense rom.
Also, dude please don't under rate our devs by implying they are simply people here to make a profit. They're not gold diggers, atleast in my opinion.
