[Q] Alarm Clock App for when phone is shut off - Vibrant General

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Android app out there that can make my alarm clock go on when I turn my phone off for the night? I want to save battery life. I know I can turn it to airplane mode at night but is there something out there that's free? Just curious.
Thanks

Dude, your phone has to be running for an app to run on it. If you shut it off, guess what? It's off.

Alarm does not go off when phone is off?

Is it normal for my alarm to NOT go off when the phone is turned off but rings as normal when it's on?
I ask this because I sleep at night with my phone turned off. The alarm is set for 6:35 as normal for the morning.
For the past 2 days it failed to go off. The phone was however switched off, I take it the alarm does not ring unless the phone is on?
Should this be true it is strange as the older phones, the ancient Nokia's and Ericsson's used to ring while the phone was off.
My previous HTC Desire HD had the same issue, the alarm would ONLY ring when the phone was on.
Should it be turned off it would not go off.
Why is this? Any way to fix it?
Anyone?
Simple enough, just put your phone to flight mode and turn off the screen, dont power it off and dont mute it.
cuz automatically waking up is not supported by wm/android device.

Excellent idea, flight mode! This way will get undisturbed plus no more than 1 or 2% loss of battery in standby mode...
Also no one can call & disturb me. I though auto wake up wasn't supported, just wansn't 100% sure.
Cheers valest.
Valest, this morning at 6:35 my alarm rang for the FIRST time!!!
You are right about not turning the phone off...
I forgot to put in on airplane mode but thank god it didn't go off and I hardly lost any power...
Over a 7-8 hour period battery dropped from 100% to 98%
What excellent battery the Streak has... Screen brightness is ALWAYS set to 80% too.
I'm half way through the day and battery is still 94%
Lol your battery must be special or you really don't use your phone much. The battery is certainly better than most but not that great.

PS welcome to the streak. Even though its a year old its pretty good

becuz he was sleeping and the phone isn't really in use*^o^*
cpu and screen backlight are battery draining,so turn off your screen and let cpu go idle(set itself to 245mhz) helps a lot.
still,it could be crazier,my streak survived a 3 hours trip with less than 10% battery: turn down brightness,go to flight mode, shutdown unnecessary background app,set cpu to 245mhz.I was reading an e-book back then.

Yeah that's one thing I miss about Symbian. I could set the alarm on my Nokia then shut it off.
I currently use Tasker with a "night saver" profile I created. From 10pm to 6am:
Shuts down cellular data
Shuts down wifi
Shuts down bluetooth
Shuts down GPS
Turns off auto-sync
Drops the volume to "1"
As an alternative: you could buy a dock (i use the slacker dock) and plug it in on your nightstand.
It charges so you dont have to turn anything off and it's upright so it even looks like a clock

Haha, clever idea! But after testing it & only loosing 2% battery it doesn't bother me keeping it on.
I thought it would have taken more power as my old HTC Desire HD had a crappy battery and needed to be charged almost every day with LITTLE use...
Standby overnight would take around 8-10% This is based on a 6-7 hour period, which I think is bad as it's doing nothing...

Keeping the screen on?

Made the switch from the Galaxy Note to the LG G2, and still trying to figure out a couple things that bug me.
On my Note I could put the phone in my desktop dock and it would launch my alarm clock app (Alarm Clock Plus), and the clock would stay on all night. The screen would not time out while in this mode. Otherwise it would time out after a certain amount of inactivity.
On the G2 there is a display setting for how long the screen should stay on, but it seems like it is all or nothing. I want to the phone screen to turn off automatically after a minute of inactivity, but I want the screen to stay on when alarm clock plus is running.
The only way I have found to do this so far is using Tasker and Secure Settings to launch a configuration task "Keep Display On: AC, USB". Of course I am rooted.
Is there some other way to do this?
Developer options. Stay Awake. But weekday your looking for its daydream...look it up. I don't know how to set it up on LG g2

Screen off.

So my battery completely dies on its on even when im not using it. Because when i receieved a call or text the screen turns on and doesnt turn off at its own. Never had that problem on other phones. Is there a setting im missing???
100% get a text screen stays on leave the phone come back 2 hours later n it drain the battery cuz the screen stayed on the whole time.

I had asked a similar question and found out that no matter what the screen is going to come on when you get a text message. Now it definitely isn't supposed to stay on. That's not normal. I'm sure you have restarted you phone already as it may just be a bug that needs a restart. Another option for you would be to download a third party text program such as handcent.

You didn't happen to go into developers settings and accidentally check the keep screen on while plugged in box did ya? Or try Display settings n see what screen off is set at. I know these are probably obvious things but ya never know, we're only humans and we do miss things sometimes. Hope it helps ya?

Yea thats what i thought screen usually goes off base on the screen time that i set 15 seconds. But the phone screen stays on after 15 seconds of receiving the text i have to press the power button in order to shut the screen which its ok when im around the phone not charge but when i leave in my desk for a while i dont get the chance to turn off the screen so the screen stays on n kills the battery its weird. I even disable the pop out in lockscreen on message settings and still the same. Set the display to turn off at 15 seconds n doesnt help :-/ sucks

My battery life is terrible....

My S5 battery is worse than s4 and G2. Could it be my Gear 2 watch that's the problem? GSAM tells me Android system is at 30%. I also have S Health pedometer running because I can't seem to find a way to turn it off.
Any suggestions?

You can turn off the S Health pedometer by opening the S Health app on your phone, select the pedometer, and hit pause. That will stop it from running.

When I hit turn off, it prompts me to Uninstall the app. It does that and now I have turn on as an option. Will the phone automatically reinstall the app? There's a buck I'd like to turn off, but makes no sense if it'll just install again.
Look at the things that's been running for 140hrs. There are more than this. Any of your phones have this happening?

when you turn off or disable an app, you are prompted to uninstall any updates that were downloaded. once you turn the app back on, if ever, then it will have to reinstall the updates as well.
Ok...i turned off all kinds of stuff.
I turned S Health off all together in app manager. I don't use it. The pedometer is still working on my watch.

Release day phone.
After turning off most of the bloat, today, I am at 49% @ 15hrs on battery. With over an hour phone call...lots of texting, some youtube as well. I think I resolved my bad battery issue.

Screen stays on?

Anyone else noticing their tab screen randomly staying on?
It's always the same, screen randomly turns on and stays at the locked screen. It does this until I interact with it, or until it runs the battery dry.
It's sporadic, sometimes when charging or not even touched.
I haven't been able to isolate what triggers the screen to turn on.
One night it was charging face up and it just turned on and stayed on.
The other day, I left it in a drawer fully charged and came back to it completely drained.
Most other times it just happens when it's laying around.
Sometimes it stays on with notifications, sometimes no notifications.
But during the nights, I have it on blocking mode, so notifications wouldn't trigger the screen.
I also made sure daydream mode and stay awake are both off.
At a total loss here.

I was having this issue when I had the brightness turned all the way up. The phone would randomly wake itself up. Try switching your time off to five minutes and turn off the smart stay. Worked for me and fixed my battery issue

My brightness is never all the way off, most of the time it's actually all the way down.
Time off has been switched between all the times, and smart stay has never been on.
Can't seem to figure it out.

Weird... Mine only did it with bright all the way up. Have you tried factory reset?
Yep, no luck.
