Hi
i'm using latest kernel right now and it's SUPER FAST
but this problem I'm writing now, have had it before I changed the kernel and still now, I can see that wi-fi is connected ... but when I use the marketplace or web pages ... is nothing, just waiting and waiting ... but nothing, maybe sometimes works ... and then stop it .. and it might work again when I restart the cell phone!.
are all has this problem or is it just me?
pls. can someone help me!
about my HD2:
Rom: Duttys creme de la creme (V5)
Radio: 2.12
Android: shubCRAFT 1.2b
Do you have Netgear router WiFi?
I replace my router Netgear with another and work fine.... Boh!
Test with another AP
No dude, definitly NOT!!! replace your router. ROFL!!!
It's something in the settings eighter in android or our routers.
Didn't find the clue eighter, but I have a DLink router, and I have to disconnect and reconnect my router (wait 30 seconds up to one minute), and then put the plug back in, and wifi works again. I never have this with other devices. So I guess it's android-related, and even more, I never had this with other versions than the one you mentioned.
Maybe it has something to do with your internet encryption.
Have you tried disabling the security and logging into it as open/unlocked connection?
I have seen this problem reported a few times, but never really looked into any potential fixes. I haven't had any problems at all with my Wi-Fi connections.
Updating Kernel and fixing Wi-Fi
This is from another thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7632459&postcount=8531
Thanks to memin1857 for the original post.
I was having issues with my Wi-Fi not connecting most of the time. When it did, it was very spotty. So I updated to the latest Kernel and updated my .ko file. Doing this appeared to fix my Wi-Fi issues, plus the full ram Kernel has sped up Froyo quite a bit.
My setup:
TMous HD2 (Leo)
Cookie Energy Rom (24.Jul.2010 WWE)
2.10.50.26 Radio
darkstone HD2Froyo build (Not the darkFroyo build)
zImage from 2010-8-11
From memin1857:
STEP BY STEP UPGRADING TO NEWEST FULL RAM KERNEL
1) Download http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo...-htcleo-latest
2) Rename zImage-htcleo-latest to just zimage and copy it your Android folder (overwrite the original)
3) Edit your startup.txt to this: (delete original content)
set mtype 2524
set ramaddr 0x11800000
set ramsize 0x1e400000
set initrd_offset 0x00a00000
set initrd initrd.gz
set kernel zImage
set cmdline "rel_path=Android"
boot
4) If your WIFI is not working (error) Download http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo...leo-latest.tgz
5) Open the modules-htcleo-latest.tgz file with winrar or any similar program and find bcm4329.ko file inside. (It is located at lib\modules\2.32.xxxx\kernel\drivers\net\wireless\ bcmxxx) copy it to your sdcard root.
6) Start a Terminal Emulator within Android. (Install a terminal emulator from market if not already installed) Copy bcm4329.ko to sdcard root beforehand. Enter these commands:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cp /sdcard/bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
you should get no response and wifi should work immediately.
OR instead of those steps just wait for a new build to come up. New builds will include these ready to use.
-You won't lose settings
-You don't need to format your sd card
-If you don't use above startup.txt you will get stuck at jumping to kernel
-You don't need other modules unless explicitely written somewhere.
-I'm assuming you're using one of the newest builds such as shubcraft, froyostone, mattc Change startup.txt content if your android folder or initrd file is named different.
Other methods for replacing the wireless driver: (bcm4329.ko)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...13#post7622713
I could make this easier with a single zip file BUT this is the official way and it is future proof. (Please don't post files to file sharing websites it only causes confusion and quickly gets obsolete) If everybody are using the same kernel from central reprository http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/ it will be easier.
Please DON'T ASK if something doesn't work. Try again from the beginning or Use SEARCH THIS THREAD just above page numbers (not the big search box on top of page) I am SURE your problem is already answered.
This kernel uses all memory but if you get around 422756KB reported it is normal. (1MB is 1024KB, not 1000KB and it makes a usable 412MB, not 422MB) This behaviour is the same in winmo and also htc desire or nexus one. ALL HD2s including european ones labeled 448MB HAVE REAL ACTUAL 576MB physical memory. Htc just crippled the stock winmo and pre 2.xx radio to make us version look better. You will get full memory in Android with this kernel and you can get full memory in winmo if you flash a 2.10.50.xx or 2.12.50.xx radio + custom rom such as miris 6.5 v17.0

Hi.
I was checking each build today and noticed that the file structures between builds are different. Example, Matt's or Darkstone's has a rootfs.img and system.ext2 while shubcraft has htcleo_update.tar.gz and root folder, but no system.ext2 nor rootfs.img.
How come the structures are different? Hopefully one or some of the devs can chime in on this.
Oh and how come the initrd.gz cannot be extracted? I tried extracting one and when I opened it I saw a bunch of garbled syntax....
Thanks
i'm not a dev so i can't be 100% sure on this. i can tell you that when i load shubcraft's build up for the first time... the first screen says it is a htc hd2 on the setup screen. the other 2 say n1 or desire i think.
so my guess would be that shubcraft's build is more modified and the others is more image based from the other phones.
1 reason i loved shubcraft's build was that it kept my phone named correctly. i don't like going into my phone's about screen and seeing it named n1 or desire... cause it's not... heh, i have a HD2 and i'm proud of it dangit! =)

Actually, ita very easy to change the phones name on Android, im on Darkstones Froyo v1 and i changed it from saying" HTC Desire" to "HTC Leo" going to switch it back to HD2 tho. But the filesystems im not to sure about.
Sent from my HTC HD2 running DarkStone HD2Froyo v1
It's just because Shu8i do not supply system and userdata images with it's build, instead he relay on creating that files on first start of Android, that is the main reason Shu8i's build take so much more time to start up at first.
It's just a trade-off, less file size you download, more time to wait for first boot.

guess i'm not that smart just yet. heh.
There are currently (from the files I've checked) two ways of packaging Android builds; the "Zego" way and the "XDAndroid" way.
Inside both builds, you'll find a haret (kernel loader), clrcad (enables audio in android), initrd.gz (initial root filesystem), zImage (kernel), and startup (the script haret uses to set up linux).
The XDAndroid-based builds have, additionally, a rootfs which is a big package intended to allow the same XDAndroid build to run on a wide variety of devices.
IMHO, the Zego initrd is much better because: 1. it allows for "otapackage" updates, 2. It's for HD2 only, 3. It's much cleaner and can run AOSP builds straight from a make (as long as you specify that the build images use ext2).
The disadvantage, though, is that it uses a regular init.rc instead of a hero one (only difference is that hero core jars aren't loaded into the classpath), so it takes a slight modification to get sense builds running.
The XDAndroid initrd, instead, just loads the rootfs and then from the rootfs several scripts run to determine the kind of device that's being used and then when the device is detected, the files used for that device (included in the rootfs) are "pushed" to the system image to allow all hardware to work correctly.
I haven't seen a thread for this question, I don't know, it could be possibly because its a bad question. But basically, I'm new to putting Android on the HD2 so I don't completely understand 100% of what I am reading. I've installed Android about 3 times, but always deleted it and went back to WinMo cause of the calling issue.
All I would like to know is, do I have to download anything specific or run anything before or after I run the CLCRD and HaRet in the Android folder from the Froyostone v2 .rar?
In the Froyostone v2 thread I noticed this, and I am wondering if I need to download anything from the following threads in order to run this version perfectly.
Code:

Rootfs based on dan1j3l's Froyo V1 build
I have a regular TMO USA HD2 with only HSPL3 in it. Radio 2.10.50.26
Thank you
idk but i have tried five different builds and mine runs a few lines then gets to "booting android kernel" then stops as the screen slowly fades to black. I want android on this damn thing. WTH am i doing wrong??
First, I am no expert on Android. However, I was able to get the Froyostone V2 working, and have been using it awhile.
You do need to format your SD card to FAT 32. You need to make sure the Android folder is on the root of your SD card (for Froyostone anyway-I think it is different for other builds). According to Darkstone, you should not have any other "Android" folders on your card.
Once all that is done, just open the folder and run CLRCAD and HARET.
As far as the robo voice, I don't have it running the Energy ROM.
EDIT: Forgot to answer your original question: I did not download anything other than the original build. I believe that is just an FYI from Darkstone you are referring to, and he says "included in build".
I have downloaded mdj adroid and installed on my root of storagecard. Updated my radio, installed hspl3. Tried other romes for htc. but it freeze with green htc logo. and i have installed 512 data.img to my hd2. Its a european hd2. i have waited hours to load reinstaled few times it gave the same result.
Do some1 know any solution?

How long did you wait while it was 'stuck' at the htc screen?
Edit: Oh, Hours!
Did you format your SD card to FAT32 first?

Since there are literally thousands of post from peeps who have got it working without any major issues (me included ) i would suggested you are doing something wrong, however since its still essentially in beta there's bound to be issues for some.
best to start again & read carefully! its the best advice i can give.

you can download and install the android sdk on your computer, once its set up, then you can run a logcat to watch the background processes. if you see it looping, then it's locked up.
my first try i thought it had locked up on initial boot, so i pulled the batt. i rebooted and ran a logcat, saw it hang in the adio portion of setup.
i wiped the sdcard, formated it, and tryed again.
it takes about 5 min for it to setup the background services and kernel, then you'll be able to run logcat and watch it boot. i recomend waiting untill it calms down before even touching the phone even though it will prob be at the log in screen 5-10 min before it calms down.
once it calms down i personaly will log into my google account, wait for it to settle down, the restart it. after it reboots then ill start to play with it, set things up, load apps etc.

hello
just wanted to say i had kinda the same problem what i ended up doing is installing new rom from energy then extracted the files straight to the sd card hope this helps i had all kinds of problems rom fixed everything instantly
Try using a different kernel. I had the exact same issue as you and I found out that my phone doesn't work with any kernels that screw around with the CPU settings. I would suggest using Hastarin R8 or 7.7 Alt. If that doesn't work, try using the kernel from THIS build. Basically, try a bunch of them. One just might work.
Iam now using energy rom. iam trieying different android roms
I have tried the darkstone froyo 1.7 when it was booting its said can't mount the sd card. I have tried other sd card and it work. I can use android
Really should try reading before you go about tinkering
and for the record that builds not too great
"If you get unable to mount sdcard plz replace set cmdline "rel_path=Android" with set cmdline "rel_path=Android loop_partition=mmcblk0" in startup.txt"
that was originally posted in shubcraft and has since been posted in nearly every up-to-date build.

Hey, im using the same MDJ build, ive also tried radio 2.14 but get better battery life/ slower drain from 2.15, tho as you prob know radio performance depends on many factors, location being a big 1, wifi worked fine with both.
2 suggestions, update kernel to MDJ s7.1 or go back to radio 2.15
Thanks alot for fast and swift reply ..
I have downloaded s7.1 mdj kernel , but in instructions he says that i should put zimage and root folder into android folder, but nothing changes... Kernel stil stays 6.1... how to change kernel ffs ?
No probs,
with s7# kernels you need to copy zimage to your android folder but the modules have to be placed directly in the system/lib folder (using es or root explorer), not the same folder as the zimage.
not near my laptop right now so can't give you the exact path,
its all in MDJ's kernel thread tho just look 2 or 3 pages back from the last page ul see the instructions
p.s,
make sure you do a full reboot when done.
Before you go changing your kernel, try booting into Android with wifi on in Windows, then in Android turn wifi on, if it says error, just try to turn it on again.
If that doesn't work, try booting into Android with wifi in Windows turned off, then if it says error, try turning wifi on again.
The reason I say this, is because with one of the builds on my card, if I boot Android with wifi off in Windows, wifi will not work at all in Android, but if I boot Android with wifi on, it works but sometimes says error the first time, but if I simply turn wifi on again, then it turns right on and connects.
And I have read other people's comments that wifi would'nt work for them unless it was turned off in Windows.
So I say try it both ways, and give it 2 chances at turning wifi on each time.
If it works, good. If not, you can still change your kernel or try another build.
Hope this helps, and saves you some time and effort

I'm not a dev. I'm just a curious user that want to learn, fail, search, retry, fail again and then succeed also thanks to people here that helped me with tips and knowledge sharing
This is a personal build made for my self, based on DESIRE HD.
Is 90% stock, % battery indicator and some animations/icons.
It's fully DEODEXED so you can theme it as you want.
I tried also to keep most of the apps, wallpapers and other stuff in it.
But most important it uses DATA.IMG on SDCARD so you dont have to worry about storage limite on LEO512
Please note: this, as happenend whe using Android from SD, could cause data corruption and causes a little lag during app installation. There is nothing I can do to solve those two issues. You are warned!

INSTRUCTIONS
- You need at least MAGLDLR 1.10
- Download the Data size package you want
- Unzip it and copy all the content to your SD root respecting the folder structure. Insert the SD in the HD2
IF YOU NOT DO THIS BEFORE, YOUR INSTALLATION WILL FAIL
IF YOU ARE ON A 1024 LEO YOU CAN AVOID THIS.
- Download the RAFDROID HD package
- Unzip it on your computer, enter in MAGDLR bootloader, choose USB flasher, connect your HD2 to your computer and use INSTALL.EXE
- Wait the rebooting. Keep always the SD inside.
- First install takes up to 5 min
- Enjoy
- As all HD build, initially this will be slugghis and lagging, specially if you select to restore your google settings. The build will become fast after some hours and a couple of reboots.

WARNING 1) Data system changed between RafDroid HD1 and RafDroid HD2. Now you need a "config.txt" in the data2sd folder. I suggest to old 1.0 users to download the new packages here to be sure that all works.
WARNING 2) I assure compatibility only with 512 and 1024 data images. Using bigger images, specially more than 2gb, could cause issues (no boot, errors installing apps...)
WARNING 3) I suggest always to start with a fresh data.img. Anyway you can try too keep your old data.img but I cannot assure you that you will have no bugs. Important is to keep the "data2sd" folder with the config.txt inside.

If you need more space, you can replace the data.img with ones bigge but I NOT SUGGEST THIS. We have clues that data.img bigger than 2gb causes issues. So please, if you want to avoid bugs, stay with 1gb maximum that is plenty space for everything.

Anyway I would suggest to donate to Cotulla and DFT team and other devs.
BE ADVISED: THIS BUILD, CAUSE IT'S SIZE, WILL WORK ONLY WITH THIS METHOD OF DATA2SD. IT'S TOO BIG TO WORK WITHOUT IT. EXCEPT FOR 1024 LEO WHER IT *SHOULD*(MUST BE TESTED) WORK WITHOUT DATA.IMG
If you want DesireHD standard fonts, download this package and replace the entire /system/fonts content with the ones included, using droid explorer or adb, after first boot

If you want the stock look this is the stock framework-res.apk. i will not explain how to mess with it, google if you dont know. anyway be careful. messing with this file could cause loop reboots and you will have to reflash

q) I'm having high battery drain
a) Try reboot. Try disabling gps in location. As you can see from the screenshot I have 4mA with WIFI active! Also be careful. If during google account setup you choose to backup/restore all your data, the sync process will be dramatic heavy because it has to reinstall all your apps. It could need a couple of hours to settle. Also high battery drain could be caused by SD. try another one.
q) It's really laggy!!!!
a) as all Desire HD builds this is BIG! This needs at least 10-15 minutes after boot to be usable. Then try to use it for 5-6 hours.. and do a couple of reboots.. you will see that the speed will improve. After 24 hours of use and 4-5 rebots this will be really fast.
q) I have no GPS or the fix is really slow
a) Firs fixt can take up to 5 minutes. just wait. If still not works, try to change the gps zone in the config.txt (read below)
q) I have low quadrant scores
a) yes, this is true. This is because data sync is enabled by default. You can try to disable it but this will give you more risks of data corruption.
q) Can I unmount the SD while in use or connect the phone as mass storage to my pc while in use
a) No. This will cause data corruption. Power down the pone and use an SD card reader to copy your files.
q) I have no SU permission!!!
a) Install z4root (google for it) and execute permaroot. Reboot.
q) It not boots
a) be sure that the ".config" file is in your SD on the root. and there is also the folder "data2sd" with "data.img" inside. If still no boot, try to reformat your SD card, copy the img again, and retry.

ABOUT THE CONFIG.TXT FILE

You can change some parameters directly in the config.txt before booting:
Code:
data_sd=0
- 0, default, use nand userdata, THIS WILL CAUSE NO BOOT for 512 LEO
- 1, enable external data.img support (/sdcard/data2sd/data.img)
data_size=512
- size of data.img, only work when data.img support enabled and first install if you dont have a data.img.. it will create for you. No need to specify it if you already have a data.img in the data2sd folder
data_sync=1
- 0, fast, default, disable sync option when mount data.img MAY CAUSE DATA CORRUPTION. I SUGGEST TO NOT USE THIS
- 1, safe, enable sync option when mount data.img, use this if experiencing data corruption
lcd_density=240
- size of icons
gps_zone=europe
- country string for better gps fix. you can find your country code here [URL="http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@"]http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@[/URL]

thanks for replying
why you're not using latest Ace RUU (RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3)?
you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879375
isnt it better to have PPP rather than RMNET because RMNET is slower.
having said that, has there been a fix for PPP because im lossing network bar frequently.
BTW thanks for the build, will be testing it out soon

Good work Raf, been waiting for this. I've downloaded the data package and was wondering if it will be possible to use my old data.img file from another SD HD build and possibly use a 2GB data.img file too?

Dont know.. maybe there will be bugs, but try it.. if this not work or you have bugs, delete all things from SD, reflash NAND, and start again
about 2gb data, yes, you can. just replace the file. I will upload 2GB and 4GB for convenience, later as soon I have time
This build will be awesome when it runs correctly... Is it right, it uses for data the data.img on the sd card, when you release a new uodate we can safe our data and can make a update without loosing my apps ? This will be great news ?!
so will all my texts get saved to the sd card?
as on other NAND builds my phone can barely operate after a couple days use due to insufficient storage.
also, what determines whether I should get the 512MB or 1024MB data package?

Not true, atleast not for me. (the build i use in my sig)
Sinds NAND rmnet is as fast for me as ppp, same up and download speed.
In the time with sd card builds ppp was faster for me,now not (for me)
Just test it with speedtest.net app in the market for free
