Lately i have a dropping call issue. When i am in a phone conversation sometimes the call is getting dropped. Before it is dropped i hear beep.beep.beep. but don't see any message on my screen ?
Does the beep code mean that the network doesn't have enough capacity?
I'm on Energy rom + tested radio 2.12.50 and 2.10.50 (didn't had any problems before)
Three beeps usually mean a network related issue, maybe it couldn't hand over between cellsites or your network coverage dropped enough to drop the call.
I'm just at home when the issue occures, so there is no need for migrating to another cellsite. But it's a well crowded area i live in, so that could be a problem i guess.

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the noise that GSM phones cause to come through computer speakers if the phone is placed close to them. I am getting the same sound out of the earpiece when placing a call. Is this normal? After the call connects, I don't hear the sounds anymore. Anyone else experience this with an 8525?
I have heard it at random times as well but its very random... the only thing I notice is that it happens more often than not after I have woken the device up.

i get this occasionally with my 8525. it might happen more often than occasionally, but i'm in a 3G area 95% of the time and the interference doesn't occur with WCDMA. it seems to happen when i'm in a low signal GSM coverage area, probably due to the radio pumping out more power to stay in touch.
if it happened during calls i'd worry about it, but since it's only for a second or two during the call initiation i'm not too concerned.

Is it only me or is everyone with HD experienceing noise during a voice call. The other person don't complain about it but at my end there is always a distorting noise from an earpiece during a voice call like a an electric interference. (and this is irrelevant to my location or signal strength - I get it everywhere).
should I get my HD replaced by Orange ?
I also experienced the weird electronic interference sound, but only twice so far (I've had the phone for over one month). The person on the other end couldn't hear it either time, and it only lasted a couple of seconds. It hasn't been a significant problem for me and I haven't heard it in a while.
I can also confirm that strange noise appeared during calls at least few times in last month and a half of usage. On some occasions I would hear my own last word being distorted and on others simply static-interference effects. Nothing too bad, but it does happen.
Hi all,
I've experienced this too.
1. Which ROM version do you use ? I've upgraded mine and the noise disappeared.
2. Yesterday I heard that noise again (first time for 10 days), but it was very silent and about 3-4 seconds. Then I realise that the noise is coming while in call ONLY when I am at home.
So I think that there might be some problem with the operator cell covering my house.
Anyway ..... try to find suitable NEW ROM for your phone ....it will make things better I hope.
Good luck!
P.S.:
Old ROM : 1.14.405.0 WWE
New ROM : 1.14.479.3 WWE
It's OK now
I was wondering if anyone else was running into something like this.
I have a T-Mo band N1 with AT&T service so I max out at EDGE, but something strange happens when I'm calling people from my house. Sometimes the other person will just stop hearing me but I can still hear them, it seems to fix itself after a random amount of time but sometimes it doesn't. But before the two way connection is reestablished one party has usually ended the call.
The strange part is when the call is ended I see that my connection has switched over to GPRS and after a few seconds it will switch back to EDGE. I assume that the switch from EDGE to GPRS during the call and that's when the other person can no longer hear me. When I start the call I have 3 or 4 bars on EDGE so I don't know why my N1 would switch to GPRS during the call.
This doesn't happen when I'm outside, but this happens when I'm not wandering around my house so the signal should be pretty stable. It has happened whether I'm holding my phone in my hand or it's sitting on my table with the speaker activated. There have also been times when I've spent an hour or two on the phone at home without this happening at all.
Anyone else having this problem or have any idea what may be causing this?
actually i notice my data connections disconnect like if i am downloading or uploading or connecting to something and i switch between H-3G-E i lose the connections. i didnt put much thought into it but i guess its -1 for me.
if i hold it like a normal person would hold it, it drops calls like crazy. i find myself having to do the iPhone hold on it and it works fine. anybody else having this problem? any solutions?
Absolutely no problems here with reception and calls regardless of how I hold the phone.
I haven't dropped a single call. I even kept reception in a spot here I have dropped calls with every other phone I have ever had.

Same. Especially since Samsung has been so bad in this regard.
i think i hold the phone like most people do.. no problems at all.
I've noticed that if I hold my hand over the bottom of the backside of the phone, I will lose a couple bars. But my signal isn't that great to begin with. Never dropped a call, though.
I don't get any drop calls, I held my phone like the way it should be and no problem at all. I have the iPhone 4 also and I like the Vibrant more
I was on a call today to a land line and my call dropped 3 times while I had full signal strength. Somethings fishy. The phone was in speakerphone mode in a cradle.

I'm pretty sure that's not what this thread is about, but it does sound like an issue. I've never had a dropped call on T-Mobile, unless I went into a dead zone which only happened once. That was also like 5 years ago.
havent had any dropped calls even in my old apartment where I wasnt able to get any signal with my blackberry.
Probably a lemon, get a replacement.
My bars are all over the place when I hold it with my right hand, but I normally talk on my left and I've yet to loose a call. Sounds awesome via the speaker too.
Quit trying to be as good, or bad, as the iPhone. Jesus.
You know, I've noticed that when I press END I have a dropped call, just like the I gadget.
The Samsung Vibrant does have the antenna built on the lower left corner. If you look at disassembling process from youtube, you will find it justified.
Some do claim their Vibrant will have a similar death-grip issue when holding where the antenna is built, but so far not much ppl reported an actual drop call, just a few bars dropped which may affect the quality of the call~

Could be the fact that its too new..Almost every electronic has problems. Remember when the 360 and ps3 would litteraly explode? Same thing with this id guess
I haven't dropped any calls yet, but I've missed a few because I was holding the phone in my left hand and using the browser or typing an SMS. I will just randomly get voice mail notifications, without the phone ever ringing. When I get the notification I'll look at the signal strength meter and there will be no bars. Switching the phone back to my right hand (or setting it down) will return to full signal strength.
I've read a few similar threads and it seems that many people have noticed the same but haven't seen any real solution.
I noticed that when I try to call my phone, the 1st attempt will be missed (it will either redirect to voicebox due to unavailability or it will ring as disconnected and never get notified). The 2nd attempt will ring ok.
I haven't seen anything helpful except from turning 3g off but I have it on auto and use the mobile widget which I assume does the same.
Anyone noticed the same? it's worth to try it though because you may have the same and be unaware of it. (Try to ring your phone when its in standby and hasn't been used for several minutes)
I bought the DHD yesterday, in the few hours i used it i didn't notice the issue you describe. Just to be sure i called my phone a minute ago and i had no problem.
I have 3G turned off and i'm not using voicebox (using missed call alert instead).
i have a feeling its because if you turn the phone over it rejects the call. i keep doing this because my phone is in a slip case all the time. anyone know how to turn it off?

No, it doesn't . It just mutes the sound but if it's already turned over when it receives a call, it will ring. You can change this behaviour in settings-call as well as volume control for flip case.
I tried several more times and it doesn't happen now. It just happened a few times when I tried to test. The only setting I changed now was for GSM-3G not to force 3G connection on for all the time. Maybe that helped but now I'll have to see how my data connection is affected.

Yesterday whilst in town, a friend said he had tried to get me several times, only to get a network message that the phone was unavailable. seems fine each time i test it though, and there is a strong 3g signal around here. I put it down to everyone in town christmas shopping and net network cell being clogged up with people calling each other to find out where there other half is lol.
What network are you on? I'm on Orange, and get this all the time. It seems to be when I'm in an area where there's only gprs which cannot work with voice calls simultaneously. For some reason the data signal is given priority and the voice call is rejected. Surely it should be the other way round? Not sure if this is a network problem or a software problem... if the latter, is it HTC or Android?
