[Q] Does Samsung Galaxy S support voice input? - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi everyone.
A friend of mine would like to get a Samsung Galaxy S
(this one: http://www.samsung.com/au/smartphone/galaxys/index.html)
He knows that I have a Google Nexus One, and he likes the voice input feature most.
For nexus one, there's a microphone button on Android keyboard, so it can voice input to any text box.
Since Galaxy S uses swype keyboard, does it support voice input still?
Thanks!

EDIT* Sorry, think I misspoke, I think it has it, I'll let someone confirm. There are keyboards he can get with voice input, so this shouldn't be something of a concern to him.

[Q] Voice Commands - Bluetooth - [ROM] Roto JME Pre-Rooted Firmware v4 [Jan 9, 2011]

I am running [ROM] Roto JME Pre-Rooted Firmware v4 [Jan 9, 2011]; Thanks Roto!
Immediately after purchasing from Bell Canada, I flashed Roto's firmware to obtain voice functionality. One item really bothers me; voice commands over bluetooth.
Is the lack of voice commands using bluetooth on the Samsung Tab a common deficiency?
I am having a hard time convincing myself that European and Asian Tab users accept this, while other smartphones have voice commands enabled.
Is this a Samsung deficiency, or a by-product of JME?
How are others handling this? I am not doing well with Vlingo or Google Voice, so mostly just bearing with the lack of native voice command support in JME.
Any comments on the likelihood of voice commands being included in a near future firmware release.
Cheers!
It appears to be an issue with the VoiceDialer.apk that comes with some of the roms. Someone posted a version that does work over BT, at least for dialing. It only works with English though, and there doesn't appear to be any voice feedback (like the "Call xxx on xxx" prompt).
I have a stock UK Tab and if you want voice commands over bluetooth just install 'Magic dialler and Cyberron Voice Commander, then reboot. I cant remember which one actually enables voice command over bluetooth but once you have rebooted pressing the headset button brings up a selection box for whichever voice command program you wish to use, i personally have set Vlingo as the default or you could use Magic, Cyberon or Google.....
Then it works just as you want as long as you dont uninstall the above mentioned programs.
hope that helps.
Okay so i have a worse problem. i cant use my bluetooth with any voice calling software. including OOVOO, Skype, Yahoo, Tango and clearsea.
My UK tablet is running a rooted xxJMC for build number, and p1000xxjm6 for baseband version.
My bluetooth head set is Class 2.0+EDR Jaybird SB2
Buletooth problems
Anyone else having Buletooth problems ? is the ROM ?
My new Tab is a Uk model, completely out of the box stock and the google voice app will not accept voice input over bluetooth. I'm not entirely sure it's accepting call voice over bluetooth either. I only had one call since I got the headset though so it could be my imagination.
Apologies for hijacking the thread slightly but is there a way to make the tab run google voice as the default action for pressing the call button on the BT headset? Mine has decided that I want it to run Winamp and start playing music... I've killed winamp process and checked that there are no "Launch by default" actions associated with the app. Any other ideas?
Galaxy Tab does not support voice command over bluetooth.
My headset plays back music and good for voice calling.
I can get voice navigation sound from gps software.
However I cannot talk over bluetooth headset for skype, etc.

The only way to get voice activated calling from your earpiece right now is to load one of the rom's from the dev section. Mine works fine with di11's 2.5 voodoo rom and its very nice with other stuff they have done also.

yes u have this option in S4 also, go to Settings ---> My Device ----> Voice Control and activate the options inside voice control, u can control the camera and the music
it does work as said above but it can be hit and miss

I have activate voice control but doesn't work
Camera voice shutter works great for me.
I've never tried controlling the music player with it, though.
Maybe there's an update available for the voice engine on Samsung Hub?

[Q] [q] app to answer call with volume button

Hi Folks,
there are many apps out there that can remap buttons. However many of them just don't work for note-3 and neither of them can map volume button for answering a call. As note-3 is big enough to operate with one had I would still like to see some efficient way to answer a call with one hand. I know there are ways for voice answer or answer with home button but I truly believe that the most ergonomic way is to answer with your big thumb.
There's one app however that does work! Or at least worked... It's called "One hand answer" and is only available from the Russian app store called "Yandex store". It was removed from Google Play w/o any explanation. The app is truly unique in terms of other features. However, after upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4.2 it no longer works and developer seems to be no longer interested in the app.
I was wondering if there are any other alternatives or a manual workaround to implement this feature.
search google for One Hand Answer v1.1.6 Ultra Edition.apk :good:

requesting note 5 keyboard

I really missed the note 5 keyboard if anyone can provide me apk to download it would be awesome thank you.
If you're looking for something with numbers in the front keyboard similar to the note 5, then this is it.

Try fleksy keyboard from the play store.
You can set the numbers on top the keyboard.
It's the best for me.

Samsung Gear Sport (or S3) compatibility with 6t

I have a 6t and love it and looking to add a smart watch . I really a leaning towards the Samsung Gear Sport (or possibly an s3) over a Wear OS watch. I'm concerned over compatibility with it being a non Samsung phone and certain functionality not working . The main things i'm wondering about is SMS messages, Call info, email coming to the watch. The compatibility page for the Sport shows not compatible with non-samsung android for messaging specifically but i've read others say they had luck w/ it. (although i'm not certain if thats w/ the S3 or Sport). I'm curious if anyone w/ a 6 or 6t has had any experience w/ the Gear Sport (or s3) w/ those features specifically.
Beyond that the big things i am wanting to use is standalone GPS and offline music but dont think i'd have an issue w/ that
any feedback would be awesome! thank you!
i have 6t and gear s3. it works like any other android phones.
havent had any issue yet.
Awesome thank you. So if you get a text or email can you read it on the watch and reply? Incoming call info good too? I wonder if the same works on the sport too since it shows slightly different info on it's compatibility chart compared to the s3

yes, yes and yes
everything works as it should. I have S3 and absolutely no problems pairing and using it with 6T
Everything works as expected
I changed my S8 for an 6T and I don't have any problems with my Gear Sport. If you didn't bought a watch yet, I would suggest to go for S3, as Gear Sport doesn't have a mic and a speaker. Not heaving a speaker means that the watch will not ring on i coming calls and messages, it will only vibrate.
thank you both for your input on this! so i was partially hopeful that this would all work w/ the S3 since that compatibility chart shows "limited availability" for non samsung android for messaging and the Sport chart shows "not supported". so maybe its just an outdated chart or we're just getting lucky i guess. Support told me yesterday that w/ a non samsung android and the Gear Sport you'd get a notification that you have a SMS but you wouldnt be able to see who it was from or read it. hoping what you guys reported is the actual norm though! w/ SMS can you read the whole string of text convo or just the new message that arrived? not a big deal but was curious. I like the look of the S3 better but really like the waterproof part of the Sport. i'm not sure the speaker/mic is a big thing for me or not as i'd be fine w/ just vibration (as long as its sufficient)
I'm using Gear sport with OP6T and I don't have any issue.
I have the Gear S3 and everything works fine, but I should mention that I use Textra for SMS, not the crap default messaging app. I can read the full message and reply with quick replies or voice to text.

thats a good thing to note....i remember someone else saying they use textra too. would anyone be willing to test using the default messenger to see if that works as well? no biggie if you dont want to mess with it
and just to make sure i'm on the same page you get gmail notifications and you can read them as well? (thats not as big a deal really as reading an email on a watch might be annoying). the sms and phone is bigger i think
thank you again for everyones help!
No issues with the OP6T & my gear 3 frontier.
Samsung pay, all functions I use work perfectly.
Awesome thank you everyone! And I assume you just needed the gear app to make it work? Is anyone willing to test with the standard Google messenger just to see if that works?

It never installs? Afterwards for me it popped up to install, then you go back to Samsung pay in the Galaxy wearable app and launch it to set it up

I have the Galaxy Watch (46mm version) and the OP 6t McLaren Edition and both are working well together with no issues. As long as you install Galaxy Wear App and use it to sync to the watch it will all work correctly. Good luck.

perfect thank you! i think i'm going to go with the Gear Sport which is tizen 3.0 vs 4.0 thats on the galaxy watch but sounds like that should work ok too hopefully. I knew i'd need to do the gear app on my OP so no biggie there. I wonder why Samsung has not supported for messenging for the sport for non samsung android. maybe just outdated info
I got my Gear Sport and working great with my 6t! one thing missing is the Messenger app on the watch. I do get notifications for new texts and i can reply but cannot see past messages or the whole thread like it supposedly let you do w/ the messenger app. From what i gathered a lot of others are having the same issue and they used to have it sounds like. I'd bet its because its not a samsung phone so they stripped that feature from non -samsung which is super lame. is everyone else seeing the same thing?

Do you use Android Auto in your vehicle? Sometimes when I receive a call, my Gear s3 will take the call instead of my vehicle. Then in the speaker menu I can only see Bluetooth of my Gear s3, but does not show more that one Bluetooth option. It's frustrating. If I turn my watch off, it goes back to my vehicle. Once in a while it works fine, but I can't rely on it working.
