So it just started happening today but each time I try to enable 4G the OS crashes. I get the black screen of death and subsequent restart. Any idea why? What can I do to fix it?
Bump

Same thing happened to me yesterday when I enabled 4g thru the pull down bar buttons. Also somtimes I get that black screen freeze and random soft restart randomly. Like today I was walking into work, got a text message, opened up the messaging app and slid open the keyboard to start tryping and I tapped out like 5 letters and then my phone just froze, went black, then like restarted without the full reboot

This is exactly what happens to me. I've rooted but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. Anyone else? Any suggestions?
I have a US streak, un-modified, still locked and un-rooted.
Os 1.6, build 6601.
I was dragging an icon from my top-list to my home screen (screen # 5) when it happened.
My Streak appears to be caught in a repeating loop. The error code that is reoccurring is stating "the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly, please try again."
This error message pops up 10 seconds after I close it, every time. It only happens when I am on my home screen (so far), and it is crippling my phone. : /
I am unable to move through my home screens, click on any icons, or use any features at all when the home screens are visible. If I quickly select an application from the top-list before the message pops up, I am able to use that application, but only after closing the error message that faithfully pops up every 10 seconds after closing the previous one.
This has been occuring since around midnight yesterday, and doesn't look to stop on it's own anytime soon.
I managed to uninstall the application that I was creating a shortcut to when this nightmare began, in hopes of it ending this (to no prevail). Also I would like to uninstall the pre-installed dell rss feed reader, since there were two of those widgets on the screen I was creating the shortcut on. But I don't seem to have the ability to do so.
I'm in desperate need of help, and any and all suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Awaiting your responses,
Thanks,
Steven
Update - After a reboot (probably the fifth one) I'm unable to advance past the Dell Logo during the boot process and into the OS at all.
Removing the battery and rebooting again gave the same results.
Removing the battery and holding down the power button for 10 seconds before powering back up allowed me access back into the OS, but the repeating error remains.
Again, Awaiting any responses,
Thanks,
Steven
After an hour or so of reading, learning what the .acore process manages, and comparing other peoples problems to that of my own. I attempted countless times to "race against the error" as it were, and quickly remove the particular home screen I was on when this whole fiasco started, only to realize that my efforts are in vain.
No matter how fast I held the home button, or pushed the carrier button to bring up the home screen management window, the error pops up before I can click the little X and confirm removal of the screen. I've also tried other suggestions, including those that involved my contacts and their syncing to my G account.
I've decided to do a factory reset, the tedious process of reinstalling applications and re organizing home screens / widgets, syncing bookmarks, etc... wouldn't even of taken as long as I've spent tinkering with it all ready. Although, I'm all the wiser for it now.
Regardless, I would still be interested in any suggestions anyone might of had for this particular problem. Maybe someone else will benefit from them, whereas I was too impatient to.
Thanks again,
Steven
Granted I'm fairly new to android I've never heard of an issue like this, I would've recommended to boot into safe mode to see if some process starting at boot was causing this.
Also I'd recommend titanium backup just so next time you do have to factory reset you have a backup of everything.
Sucks that happened

Hey guys & gals, I have a problem. Not really sure when it started, but I found out a few days ago, when I tried to tap the "search" button in android market with no response. I the tried the (hard) search button, and found that no search whatsoever, neither widget (can't even bring up keyboard when tapped), hard- or touch buttons in any program worked.
I then tried to go to "search" in settings, and got "process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly". I force close, but it keeps popping up every 1-2 seconds until I reboot.
Any suggestions or anyone experienced something like this?
I'm running smoki 0.7.8 (because I've been on vacation since before 0.8, probably not going to update until I get back in a few weeks), phone specs in my signature.
Tried:
Reboot (obviously)
Remove battery ~5 min, then reboot
Switch back to Danish SIM or boot without SIM (using a US SIM while on vacation, not that I can see how that should make any difference)
can supply logcat if needed (in a day or two, when I get to a computer)

Dropped phone in toilet, got it out in seconds and removed battery and sim card. Then i dried it off and took it apart. Cleaned everything. Cut open a bunch of those pouches that absorb water in my vitamins and stuck it in a baggie with all the parts for about a day. Then i put the battery back in and started it up and it seemed to be fine until i got to the home screen. Where the connection bars are it has a red circle with a line through it. Then after being on for 15 seconds or so it just restarts and did this over and over. Eventually i figured out that if i put it in airplane mode it stays on and functions fine, even connecting to wifi and getting on the net works fine. Only when i took it out of airplane mode and it tried to connect to at&t did it do this. So i got to thinking it might be this app i have called phone locator pro thinking i stole the phone or something. Eventually i got this uninstalled and now my phone takes probably half the time it usually does to start up but now when i get to the home screen a couple force close messages appear "The process com.motorola.service.main has stopped unexpectedly, please try again" and then it restarts. Ive searched for a solution to this but everyone just says to do a reset.
I would have done a factory reset right when everything started if i could but when i try to go into android recovery it gives me "Failed to boot 2" and i have to pull out the battery to get it to turn off.
Would appreciate any help i could get as i am stumped.

Looks like the damage has been done. If you get no signal it seems that you at the very least fried something involving the radio chip. Imo you are screwed. But i would try to reflash recovery just to see.

i was able to flash the recovery and do a factory reset. The force close messages dont pop up anymore. But it still doesnt connect to the at&t network and when it tries it shuts off. im unable to make it through the motoblur setup screen before it shuts off. Is there a way to start it up in airplane mode because i cant make it through the setup to turn it on. This way i could at least use my phone to play music, games, get on wifi, etc.
Thanks for everyones help.

If you're able to use wifi without it shutting down, then just connect to wifi before trying to setup blur. Menu key, then setup or connect to wifi.

Hi,
I had factory data reset my Samsung Galaxy S4 that's on 4.2.2 and is AWS Enabled through this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589
After rebooting I keep getting a constant pop up saying "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" when pressing "Ok" it would pop up again after a couple seconds.
Also I cant make any calls anymore because when it pops up, it ends my call.
( My signal is on and off every few seconds )
I would appreciate a fast response as my phone is rendered useless right now
Thanks
Anyone know how to fix this? :crying:
Update your gapps.
