[Q] Android force closing/crashing when 4G is enabled? - Epic 4G General

So it just started happening today but each time I try to enable 4G the OS crashes. I get the black screen of death and subsequent restart. Any idea why? What can I do to fix it?

Same thing happened to me yesterday when I enabled 4g thru the pull down bar buttons. Also somtimes I get that black screen freeze and random soft restart randomly. Like today I was walking into work, got a text message, opened up the messaging app and slid open the keyboard to start tryping and I tapped out like 5 letters and then my phone just froze, went black, then like restarted without the full reboot

This is exactly what happens to me. I've rooted but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. Anyone else? Any suggestions?

[Q] Screen timeout issue

So this happens to me all the time now...
I'll be in an app, such as XDA or the browser, and scrolling through text. Actively touching the screen every few seconds to scroll further. But the screen will go dim, and then blank as if I wasn't interacting with the phone at all. It just auto-locks disregarding the fact I was actually using it.
Anyone else experiencing this issue or have a fix for me?? Any ideas?
Had the same problem with my g1 a reboot alwaysed fixed it. But havent had that problem in the g2 tho

Thanks for the reply. I reboot all the time it seems anyway, messing around with temp root and such. This problem just randomly pops up.

Screen going blank

Sometimes the screen goes blank and is compleyely unresponsive, I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. Is this a common problem? I haven't seen much of this on these forums.

Happened to me this morning. Actively using phone then... nothing. Blank screen, no response to the power button. I also had to pull the battery to get it working again.
First time I've seen this in seven days of having the phone.
Ya'll overclocked?

Happen once but it was fue to a video on a web page and it froze the broswer then I got a phone call. And the screen just stayed black.
But like me said it only was that one time

Had it happen to me twice today, kind of annoying and not overclocked.

I haven't overclocked it yet. I'm kinda waiting for perm root before I start tinkering with that. This has happened to me twice so far.

Not overclocked either.

Came here to see if anyone else was having this problem.
It has happened to me about 3 times over the past couple weeks. Unresponsive, blank screen (powered off?), have to pull the battery before it will restart.
Stock G2

Happened to me today as well. I wasn't running rooted at the time, and the TMo forums have people reporting this problem as well.
Unfortunately, at the time this happened, I didn't think to throw 'adb logcat' at it to see if the phone had stopped responding all together or it was some kind of hardware issue.
hmm weird, I was having a lot of issues when I OC to 1.42ghz, black screen, phone freezes, having to pull battery each time.. very annoying, so i just went back to 800mhz and it runs amazing
This has happen to me numerous times before i forced the ota update and i only got the problem once after the update I seem to get it most when i press the power button to turn the screen on it let me slide to unlock it but i shows a black screen and i can only see the notification bar at the top and it is totally unresponsive for a good 10 seconds untilli keep pushing the home button and eventually the black screen goes away for me
and i was oc to 1ghz before ota but not yet oc bak yet so it leads me to believe that the oc was not the issue because i got the same black screen with out being oc
After the update all the glitches went away. It has been running like a champ since.

when my screen goes blank I hold down the power button till Power Off Prompt comes up then hit back. It always fixes my blank screen
Are any of you using NoLED... Because I had that problem, and when I un-installed it, the problem went away

Atrix Randomly Selecting

Hey everyone,
My Atrix has been with more frequently losing control and randomly selecting items particularly across top portion of the phone. At times it completely ignores my touch and will repeatedly pinch and zoom in an erratic fashion. Any thoughts or similar experiences? Suggestion? Factory wipe? Root with. Ginger?

This might be app related. Does this only happen in one app?
For me, it occurred when using an emulator (snes). i've had certain virtual buttons and the home/menu button on the bottom of the phone not respond to touch. The only fix i found when it occurs is hit the power button and wake the phone back up (ie. sleep cycle). once that's done, it works great again.
Perhaps because this became more of a relevant issue after I installed a 64 emulator which worked beautifully but I began to notice the issues. I am going to delete the emulator, run a scan, reboot. If that doesn't work I'm going to cry to Motorola for a new Atrix with a decent battery... grumble...

Atrix Randomly activating rear touchpad
I am having the same issue, but it is not app related. It will do it in the app drawer, text messaging, homescreen, and browser. Sometimes it gets stuck on the lock-screen, and I have to pull the battery. I've upgraded to 2.3.4 CherryBlur, but it was also occuring on 1.8.3.
It also happens if I open the multitouch testing app. If I put 2 fingers on the bottom, it shows one finger on the top.

4.3 issues after update

Hi all... 2 nagging issues since updating to 4.3. I am stock, never rooted this phone and simply forced the ota update.
When clicking on Google search to open Google now, it will randomly force close. It starts to load my cards, then shuts down. I've cleared app data and same results. Happens randomly.
Works fine when first opened, but kill it then try and reopen it. Half the time it closes on me. Un-installed latest version and reverted to previous update and works fine. I saw someone else complain about the same issue in the play store and I also read that perhaps I should factory reset.
I also noticed the following... if you have ripple effect checked for lock screen, when your phone screen is off, then turn your screen on either with power button or with the home button and swipe to unlock immediately, upon screen waking up, the phone does not always do a smooth transition into the home screen. It seems like the majority of the time it flashes a quick black then into home screen. This behavior does not happen with lock screen effect on none or light.
Can somebody be so kind to test these two issues above (try it several times as it doesn't always happen on first go) and let me know if you are experiencing the same issues before I try a factory reset?
Thanks so much
EDIT: DId the factory reset, and still seeing the above issues. Must be 4.3 bugs. Would still love to get other user feedback
Google search does the same thing to me sometimes. If i click the search bar and start to type or hit the mic too talk it will force close on me. But if i just open it and dont touch anything for a couple seconds and then start typing itll be fine.

Thanks for answering. Can you also test the second issue with ripple effect and unlocking the phone immediately after? At least I cleaned the phone up by doing a factory restart.

Ripple effect is pretty smooth for me and goes straight to the home screen or whatever screen i was on last.

It is for the most part for me, however turn power on and almost instantly as screen turns on swipe the ripple to unlock. See if you get the flashing black.its very short flash.

I don't see it lol i dont like the Ripple effect tho it was cool on the s3 but the light effect is so much better looking

But that Google search is my biggest problem.

I turned it off for now. Thanks for confirming the damn Google now bug.

Problems I am having are:
1. Downloaded apps install icon over another app.
2. When I turn on WIFI I get a warning that an app tried to access system without authorization and has been stopped.
The only one that really bothers me is the WIFI problem but the other one is kinda annoying as well.
Never mind, I factory reset and problems went away.

Screen won't turn off after new install

Just updated to a 4.4 rom on my i337, and whenever I reboot my phone, the screen won't turn off.
It would take hours before something happens that finally overloads it and forces a force close on my apps and then its back to working normal.
The only thing I noticed is that when it does happen, some apps show up in the superuser toast and start working again. Superuser wasn't even on the whole time.

Does not turn off when:
-Power button is pressed
-timeout time (no matter how long the time out is set for)
This only happens after a reboot, and will last for either an hour or a few hours.
But, if and when it finally does start working, it happens after some weird force close of one of the apps.
Currently, it is working fine after a few reboots and uninstalling Dynamic Notifications. It seems to me that when I disabled Dynamic Notifications, the app would still act as the lock screen. I had to actually remove it completely and so far after a few reboots it hasn't reoccurred.
