I can pair bluetooth just fine but i can't get it to recognize my phone when plugged into my deck? Have tried changing the settings on phone and can take the sd card out and put into the sd card slot and works fine. This is driving me nuts...,.

I have the AVH-P3100DVD and I cannot use my phone via USB to read music. I couldn't with the 1st gen Motorola Droid, either.
Piss. I tried my droid and incredible too. Oh well i guess

The deck can't read it in PC mode or USB Mass Storage mode?
Nope tried it in all modes. It comes up as "format read" but never goes any further than that. I can pull the sd card out and put into the sd slot and the"format read" comes up for a bit then plays the music fine

I previously had a Moto Droid and was able to connect it to my USB port in my car and play media "Music" from the sdcard. Now with my Incredible it tell me media cannot be played or read. I believe this is because of the dual mounting when connected it tries to mount two storages at once. Anyone else having this problem or maybe and solutions to fix this???

mine kind of did the same thing, I put my songs on the internal memory and my pioneer wouldn't find the songs, I had to put all my music on the micro sd card and it worked fine after that. not sure if that would work for you or not but it worked for me, so if you haven't tried that yet it is worth a shot.
i have actually tried both and still no luck. I even tried removing SDcard and had Music on internal storage only and still a no go. But it seems to read the sdcard momentarily and seconds after it says media cannot be played.
All my media is on the sd card. No problems with playing via USB/AUX connections in my vehicle...
finally figured it out. for some reason I had to give my friend my sdcard and had him format it in his nexus one. then put music back on it and this time it was able to read the media. finally

On my old trusty Desire, I could connect it to the USB in my car choose Disk mode, and then be able to browse my SD card and play music through my car stereo.
When I try the same on my DHD, it doesn't work. Is it possible to make it work on my DHD as well? I miss my music
Try menu, settings, connect to PC. I have set default connection to disk drive, but have also checked the ask me box. These settings work fine for me.

Should work, dude. The sd card itself is fine?

It's a new Transcend 16 GB class 6 card. I haven't had any problems with it so far. Though, I do have a Kingston card in my Desire. I'll try and swap cards to see if it makes any difference.

Done, and no, it doesn't make a difference. The car stereo can see my ipod/USB stick/Desire without a problem, and I have tried before and after root so it's not a ROM problem, it must be the device. Does it require HTC Sync drivers perhaps? Because I can use it as disk drive on my computer, but I have HTC Sync installed of course.
Is it possible to use the USB port to play video files?
I would love it if i am able to play video files through the digital connection over USB. I dont have an audio in port in my car stereo, the only one i have is a USB connection. I used to be able to do this on my iphone but not on DHD. Any hack available?
You may want to try Dual Mount SD Widget, it's availiable on the market, but it isn't free.(Tip: Google is your friend.)
Connect by "Charge Only" and Activate Dual Mount, it should solve your problem.

So I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. So I plug in my phone to transfer music to my phone and I worked fine. The next day I wanted to save some of my picture I took that day to my computer and all the sudden my computer tells me that "this device is unrecognizable." So I tried to do it on my friends computer and it tells me the same thing (we both have windows 7). My phone charges fine it just won't let me put it on USB disk drive mode. I just wondering if its the cord or my phone

I used to have the same issue. What i did was i formatted my sd card. Right click the sd card in my computer, and format it (either NTFS or FAT, not sure), and it worked for me.
I did lose some data on my sd card, but it was nothing i didnt already have on my computer
hope this helps.. if not sorry for wasting your time
If formatting SD card doesn't help - try rebooting to FASTBOOT and attempting connection. If it'll still be connected as "unrecognized device" - then you either have a bad cable or a bad USB slot, and I can even point specifically that you have a bad D+ line.

Try Multi-Mount SD from the market. Maybe that'll fix things. And try what Jack_R1 said.

I have had this problem several timed before. It usually happens when the cable is starting to peel and the wires are showing... or if the cable is too bent at the ends.... I just buy another cable and the problem is fixed...
Hope I helped

Transfer to computer, computer transfer to phone via MTP (data transfer protocol that works out of the box on Windows).
deltatux
Google Drive? Thats what i use or airdroid.
Serious question?
Use a computer, bluetooth, cloud service, etc. There are many ways to do this as people have been transferring files since long before SD cards were around.
...a USB cord?
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
AirDroid (via any browser on mac\linux\windows\other)
via microusb (MTP)
google drive, dropbox, box, skydrive and so on
bluetooth?
Common sense? General understanding of technology?
I wouldn't even buy this phone if I didn't know how to transfer my files onto it..
Airdroid is the easiest option
Part of taking the market share away from Apple, means doing a bit of hand holding along the way. Especially since they aren't used to having options like USB file transfer...or any options in general.
Not referring to OP in particular.
Will I be able to transfer stuff from PC to phone or vise versa without a SD card

YYEEESSSSS!!! An sd card is not required. If you are using android now. take your SD card from your phone you are using right now. Put it in your computer (sd card slot or use usb sd adapter). Plug your N4 into the computer with the charging cable. Drag and drop everything you want to transfer to the N4. or just install airdroid on both phones. It is real easy
Greetings,
I am curious if it is possible to have a memory card reader function available?
I was thinking this would be fun to have when we are out taking pics and we can just immediately preview them on the tab.
It can be done with a usb otg cable and usb card reader.

Fantastic! Thanks all! Is an app or programming needed in order for this to be done?? If so what do you use so I can try it.
Just get an OTG-usb adapter from Amazon (less than $3.) and purchase the Nexus Media Importer app. You can put the mem card in a reader, connect it to the USB-otg and copy or view the pictures using the N7. If rooted, you can use Stickmount (free app) to read/write/stream to and from the mem card.
