So I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. So I plug in my phone to transfer music to my phone and I worked fine. The next day I wanted to save some of my picture I took that day to my computer and all the sudden my computer tells me that "this device is unrecognizable." So I tried to do it on my friends computer and it tells me the same thing (we both have windows 7). My phone charges fine it just won't let me put it on USB disk drive mode. I just wondering if its the cord or my phone

I used to have the same issue. What i did was i formatted my sd card. Right click the sd card in my computer, and format it (either NTFS or FAT, not sure), and it worked for me.
I did lose some data on my sd card, but it was nothing i didnt already have on my computer
hope this helps.. if not sorry for wasting your time
If formatting SD card doesn't help - try rebooting to FASTBOOT and attempting connection. If it'll still be connected as "unrecognized device" - then you either have a bad cable or a bad USB slot, and I can even point specifically that you have a bad D+ line.

Try Multi-Mount SD from the market. Maybe that'll fix things. And try what Jack_R1 said.

I have had this problem several timed before. It usually happens when the cable is starting to peel and the wires are showing... or if the cable is too bent at the ends.... I just buy another cable and the problem is fixed...
Hope I helped

hello guys!
my problem is popular on google but i don't see any one with my problems.
Anyway, i used my usb to connect and transfer some pics and some music.
Everything was OK until i unplugged my usb. PROBABLY WITHOUT UNMNOUNTING (on my mac). The message on my x10 is like this "preparing sd card. checking for errors"
I have tried to fix the problem by recovering the phone to fabric mode (?).
Anyway i just want to know how to fix this and i have tried a different card into my phone so there is no problems with the phone.
My comp doesn't recognize my x10 anymore. This is really frustrating and i can't use the sd card in the phone because it just restarts itself.
Try formatting the card and see if that helps.
how to formate the card if my comp wont read it?
i have no adapter or anything else, except my x10...
The card works in other phones and i have tried micro sd 2gb in my x10 and it works...
PLEASE HELP

Use one of them to format it.
I actually have a similar issue. When connecting the phone to a mac via usb, upon dissconnecting the card becomes unreadable. I used an adapter to reformat the card to get it working again. I am no longer connecting via usb with my mac. Connecting from Bluetooth doesn't cause this problem. Best bet is to borrow/buy an adapter to reformat. Try not to connect to mac via usb as the card almost always becomes corrupt upon disconnection.

How can I charge my HTC HD2 through USB on a computer without mounting my memory card so I can still access all my files and games through my phone? I found absolutely no help for this issue on Google, which is crazy. I also tried ejecting it from Windows, but the card is still unaccessible through the phone after I eject.
set the phone to active sync instead of hard disk and your problem is solved.
I love you. Thanks for the help. rofl
Only happens when I try to sync, if I unplug the sync cable it automatically mounts can anyone help me on this one?
Depending on what USB mode you're using, that might be normal behavior. The mode is either Motorola Phone Portal, Windows Media Sync, USB Mass Storage, or None.
USB Mass Storage would definitely unmount both the internal and SD card.
I had hoped you would be mentioning the problem where they don't REmount after mass storage disconnection. Happened to me thrice and I'm still on my first week with this phone...

Further; I hoped one could keep one of the two stores mounted while the other is accessable over mass storage. That bubble popped a couple of days ago also.

So I removed MotoMedia Link software, cleaned the registry on laptop then rebooted. Reinstalled software and was able to sync phone to computer without having SD card ext unmounting. I think it was a driver issue or something.

Transfer to computer, computer transfer to phone via MTP (data transfer protocol that works out of the box on Windows).
deltatux
Google Drive? Thats what i use or airdroid.
Serious question?
Use a computer, bluetooth, cloud service, etc. There are many ways to do this as people have been transferring files since long before SD cards were around.
...a USB cord?
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
AirDroid (via any browser on mac\linux\windows\other)
via microusb (MTP)
google drive, dropbox, box, skydrive and so on
bluetooth?
Common sense? General understanding of technology?
I wouldn't even buy this phone if I didn't know how to transfer my files onto it..
Airdroid is the easiest option
Part of taking the market share away from Apple, means doing a bit of hand holding along the way. Especially since they aren't used to having options like USB file transfer...or any options in general.
Not referring to OP in particular.
Will I be able to transfer stuff from PC to phone or vise versa without a SD card

YYEEESSSSS!!! An sd card is not required. If you are using android now. take your SD card from your phone you are using right now. Put it in your computer (sd card slot or use usb sd adapter). Plug your N4 into the computer with the charging cable. Drag and drop everything you want to transfer to the N4. or just install airdroid on both phones. It is real easy
Hello everyone. I have a Nook Color that I am running CM7 on. It's working great (compared to how slow it was when I had CM10 on it), can run most apps and games just fine. However, I have a number of movies and TV shows I would like to be able to watch (the SD card I bought to use for all this is a 32GB card, bought specifically to have space for apps and videos). However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to actually get the video files onto the tablet. Here's what I've done so far and what I've read about:
1. Started with my tablet turned off, plugged it into the computer, and turned it back on. At first, I was getting the device installing window popping up on my computer, but quickly disappearing and nothing connecting. Eventually I got a notification saying I needed to restart my computer to finish installing, so I did that. Next time I plugged my tablet in, the device installation screen stayed up until the bar was complete (a couple minutes). Throughout this process, I manually went to the notifications list on my tablet and continuously turned on the USB storage option any time I reconnected. Still nothing. It does charge however.
2. I've also tried two different USB connector cords, all three of my USB ports, and restarting my computer multiple times.
3. I also tried to see if I could go the Bluetooth route, but that didn't really go too far. Got the two things paired and they claimed they were connected, but it didn't work out at all.
Any other options, or any thoughts on things I can try? Thanks for any help.
Well, first the Nook Color has no Bluetooth antenna so the range is inches, not feet.
Second, you need to configure the device properly. Go to settings and turn off USB debugging. Can't remember exactly where that is on CM7. Second, you need to set up USB Mass Storage. If I remember right go to storage and hit the advanced button under the menu. Then when connected do the notification turn on thing.
As a last resort take the sd out and insert it in the PC to transfer the files.

I thought about just putting the files onto the SD card (I have no issue with that), but I wasn't sure where to put them. Do you know what directory it has to be in?
To clarify, the SD card I want to put the videos on is the SD card that SM7 is installed on. I don't know if that changes anything, but when I put the SD card into my laptop, I just get a bunch of unusable files. Can I not transfer files that way (direct from PC to SD)?
Otherwise I found apps that would allow me to transfer over wifi, but I don't know what directory to put them into.

Since you have CM installed to SD that copy on to sd inserted in PC will not work. You cannot see the right partition with windows.
And wifi transfer works great for me. Just put them anywhere and once on the nook you can use the file manager to move them where you want.
