Dell Streak or HD2? - HD2 General

I currently have the HD2, and am sort of bored with it. Well I just happend to come across a guy that wants to trade his new Dell Streak for my phone plus a little cash. I'm tempted, but the only thing is that I live in the states and have T-mobile, so 3G is a no go.
Would you consider doing this trade?

Heck yeah dude!

Eventough I won't get 3G?

I wouldn't touch a phone I couldn't get 3g on. Not when I get 3-4mbps on my 3g+.

I agree. T-Mo 3G is too valuable (even if I still don't experience their HSPA+ service in SF).
Also, the Dell Streak is a little "awkward" for me. The 5" screen is too big for a phone -- I love my HD2's 4.3" screen, but the HD2 is already big enough -- but too small for a tablet.

EVO = 3g and 4g or just 4g ?

im asking this because i was in the local sprint store picking up a car charger for my wifes moment. i ask if they had a release date for the EVO he said no and 4g wont be in the area is who knows when . i said i wasunder the impression the EVO was 4g winmax but was able to use 3g as well .
well he looked stunned and if he had no idea what i was talking about .
so is it 3g and 4g or just 4g . if its just 4g i see no reason for myself to pick an evo till 4g is in my area
3g and 4g. In fact in some of the screen shots floating around you can see it connected to 3g. But regardless, it's definitely both.

It will have an evdo radio.
According to HTC, you won't be able to use 4G and Voice at the same time due to software limitations... which definitely makes it sound like it may be a possibility with a future software update.

Eh, it is the same way that you don't get 3g and voice simultaneously on the Hero you have right now.
I guess you could always go GSM AT&T and pay twice as much for the same voice/data package. Might as well pick up an Iphone too.
Hopefully they update the software to allow for data+voice, but it isn't even a phone-deciding factor for me. The EVO has 4g+3g+1x btw.

When I bought my Hero last October the CSR told me that it is 4g ready and will just require an OTA update when 4g hits the area here this summer. LOL

3G and 1X are really the same thing-ish. They are both in what's considered the 3G family. 1X being the lowest tier/speed and EVDO Rev. B the fastest.

It depends on how much you value t-mobile 3g. Do you use it a lot? If so, i would keep the hd2. If not, streak all the way.
I personally would not be that bothered about 3g but i do not know how it is in the USA.
About 1.0-1.5mb download for 3g. About 4.0-5.0mb download if you are in a tmobile 3.5g (hsdpa+) area. Big difference.
Well I definitely use the internet on my phone alot, but about half the time, I have wifi. As long as my MMS and such still worked, I guess I could live without it.

No offence, but yes we do. Only in certain markets right now though. T-mobile is suppose to finish the rollout by the end of the year.

Lol, why would I take offense to that? Well it's definitely not in my area. So going from standard 3G to EDGE, the speed difference kill me?
Probably not kill you, lol. Browsing the web would be tolerable. But downloading large files like music and programs would be a pain though.

Confirm SNS works on Simple Mobile

I just want to make sure before I buy this phone that it will work on Simple Mobile at 3G speeds at the very least... HSPA+ maybe in the future?
I dont want to get it if it wont work since I dont want to be on slow EDGE for ATT and dont want to pay a premium if I am going to use TMOBILE service anyways.
Thanks.

Simple Mobile is intriguingly priced.
The Nexus One will never work on the HSPA+ network any faster than the regular HSPA network; the hardware isn't HSPA+ compatible.

if your phone providers works on 900/1700/2100 then it will work for you, else no
Simple Mobile is a T-Mobile reseller so yes it will work.
Since it is a Tmobile phone it seems like 3G should be good.. how about HSPA+???
I know the Mytouch4G is good and the G2 but nowhere does it say on the NExus S it is HSPA+.... anyone know if that will work at the SUPER FASTER SPEEDS?

HSPA maxes out at 7.2mbs, HSPA+ at ~22mbs but the MT4G/G2 max at ~14.4mbs if i recall correctly.
On average, I see around 2.5mbs to 3.8mbs on my Nexus which was about the same as I was seeing on my MT4G oddly enough. The G2 was getting 4-8mbs

Yep, same here. My Nexus One barely pulled >1mbs. Everyone hails that phone as the greatest thing since sliced bread, and don't get me wrong it was pretty damn great, but it had several flaws too such as the poor 3G reception I'm citing here.
Simple mobile gets t-mobile speed. I am proof that this work. Everything works except 4g since nexus s doesn't have that but I get amazing 3g speed.

I would be happy with a consistent 3.0mb. within a span of 3 miles I can go from 5mb to less than 1mb and lots of areas still are edge
last time i did a speed test maxed out at 2.8 Mbps down on Wind Mobile
and it was even less on Rogers / Fido, so i'm very happy
So finally pulled the trigger... TRUE 3g speed on this phone. I couldn't be any happier.
Only problem is T-Mobile network isn't the largest so I have a lot of edge network areas. When 3g is running its pretty darn quick though.
All for 60 unlimited....

Thats awesome. I have been contemplating getting SIMple Mobile for use on my MT4G or G2, but, I have been thinking about getting a NS to use on SM.
Do any of the Visual Voicemail apps work on this (or any T-Mo phone) using SIMple Mobile? It is my understanding that any FlexPay or Pre-Paid providers cannot offer any type of Visual Voicemail services. I know, Google Voice would work ok, but I'm not happy with their UI, and other aspects of GV.
If any Visual Voicemail apps would work with SIMple Mobile, flawlessly, then I'm sold on both SM & NS.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Just figured I would give you guys thinking of moving to Simple a heads up. Their "unlimited" data is capped at 1GB. There have been reports of them shutting down your service once you reach this and charging you for prepaid data to continue use. Do your research before you jump especially if you like to tether or do a lot of streaming.

I've read the same thing on HowardForums. Since it's prepaid, you can pay for the service but they can disconnect the data anytime they want during that month.
I'm paying $55.99 a month on a non-contract basis right now, gives me 500 minutes and unlimited data. For SMS I simply use Google Voice which is free. I use it as my primary number instead of the T-Mobile one. I don't know my T-Mobile number even.
So for $60 a month, seems like Simple Mobile is more expensive and its very likely that Simple Mobile's contract for data is rather expensive hence why they cap at 1gb of data. I wouldn't expect you to ever be allowed to go past that given that MVNO's make much less profit overall.
I considered it, but quickly abandoned the plan. If it was actually cheaper (for me) I'd be willing to try it.

Woah 1GB data cap? Seems like a plan that would be good for parents, grandparents, or busy businesspeople who don't have the time/desire to do anything but light data use.
Glad you mentioned this, I was actually thinking of trying out the service.

So long incredible

Well guys i sold my incredible i couldnt deal with verizon anymore i went to at&t and a new phone of course I went back to Windows Mobile 6.5 I stuck with HTC it was HTC or bust pretty much so i'm picking up an HTC Tilt 2 well it was nice having an android but i got work to do modding winmo 6.5
Why didn't you at least Win7.1? Also, how is going from Verizon to AT&T improvement, I switched from them, I was tired of never having 3G.
What bugged you about Verizon so much?
I can't wait to switch back to at&t. gsm has never failed me for reception nor data issues. Verizon has overswamped towers in my area. my avg reception is between -85 to -92 db while holding one bar for dear life. switching to 1xrtt does nothing.

The prepaid plan lists the first 100mb as 4g speeds, so since looking at it I still assume the other data will be at 3g speeds, and even at edge speeds I don't mind. I hardly use my phone on the 3g modem enough as it is, only for facebook and small things like that.
