I Can't get USB to connect to Win7 X64 to transfer files over to the internal SD card. when I had my HTC magic I would just plug it in and it would mount but the i9000 just says that its connect and no option to mount and windows7 x64 does not even see the phone plugged in.

I had the same problem, i just enabled debugging mode and it worked.
Some said that you should fromat the internal SD card through the phone and then it will work.

just install Kies to get the MTP driver, then it gets detected properly as the phone itself

Hi, I having a problem where it either takes ages (more than 3 mins) for windows to recognise the SD cards when I connect via USB, or else doesn't recognise there is any external storage connected to the PC..seems to happen on different PC's so it seems to be an issue with the SGS (my old G1 always works fine).
When I connect to the PC, It asks which type of connection i want, I select Mass Storage and then mount the SD card.
Edit: and when it DOES recognise the card, There are no files listed in it....
Edit: THis also happens when connected to Kies...both cards appear empty
Have you tried to use "Mass storage" option instead of "Ask on connection"?
Yeah, tried both. Now no XP machine will recognise phone...
Tried it on Ubuntu and works straigth away
First i would like to thank you all for some interesting reading
i have just recieved my DHD and love it, my problem is that my sd card shows up just fine on the phone telling me i can unmount it and available space blah, blah, on the same screen when i connect it to the pc running windows 7 as soon as i select disk drive the sd card is un-mounted and then it is not visible in windows explorer also i have removed the sd card and placed it in my pc manualy and sits there looking for drivers
thanks in advance Mick
I assume you have selected "DISK DRIVE" from the drop down list that appears when you connect a USB cable? If so, this is most likely a Windows driver problem. So you might need the HTC drivers.
If you install HTC Sync (found on the card supplied with the phone) that should install the appropriate drivers. If it's not there, go to the HTC website and download latest HTC Sync version.
Can you try a USB stick or a standard card in the card reader of you PC and see if they work?
It could be a faulty SD card, I had problems with the one sent with my phone and had to replace it. All working ok now.
hi thanks for your reply i have done all of the above but still no joy, if the sd card was faulty i would assume it wouldnt work with the phone at all, the only thing i havnt tried is install the htc syn on my laptop to see if its a windows 7 issue or issue with my setup
otherwise i will have to wait and see what htc say about my issue
Cheers
Mick
Wait so let me get this right...
SD card in phone - Works
SD card in phone, hooked to computer using USB and selecting Disk Drive - Does not work (cannot see in Windows)
SD card directly in computer - Does not work...
Sounds like your issue is with Windows, not with HTC or your SD card...
Are you on a work computer by any chance? Can you plug normal USB flash drives in OK?
Either you're missing the Mass Storage driver or it's been disabled on your computer.
My phone well sd card not mouting to pc.. I know the card is good cuz I can put files on it from phone but when i plug to pc it dosent show up. I have drivers installed.. i had some past voodoo issues also but My phone did mount to pc before.
Did you re-enable debugging in the phone's settings\applications\development\ section?

1. Ensure you install driver normal in your laptap.
2. Switch the USB to USB mass storage, you can find it in system setting->storage->USE mass storage(in menu)
3. The custom kernel for CM10 has bug, need you plug and pull the USB again after you set USB module to USB mass storage.
