[UPD] 48hours + battery with mDeejay Froyo Z v1.7 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

wrote it elaborately for NOOBS:
Get setCPU ,Batteryminder & advanced task killer.Images are attched and u can understand. Just do the settings as they are in image in setcpu and enable advanced taskkiller to kill background app evrytime u switch of screen settings are:
Autokill level : safe ( aggresive won't hurt u much but making it crazy will somtimes restart sense )
autokill freq. :when screen of
security level :high ( i prefer medium now )
thats all for this app and ignore list is there also.. for which u don't wanna close.
now in set cpu when in default on demand setting with max 994000 it will give u 12 hrs backup (checked with batteryminder) (on the older kernels check da new images)
but set it to max 768000 if u r just using manu or callin (not running heavy games or somthing) this will conserve enough battery (surprising +10 hrs standby avg.) u can change this simply by getting to taskbar above in battry level profile(see images).
and then in profiles check it is enabled and make profiles as in images.
that will be all.. tnx too all.. if anyone has anymore opinions or tips feel free to comment... and special tnx to all the developers for makin HD2 a hot piece of cake..
****************** [UPDATE] *********************
Update: Now i hav used HD2 for 22hrs and still 62% remaining in mDeejay froyo z latest version... i think battery won't bother us nymore... uploaded new screenshots guyz... hope u all love it.... by da way itz widout setcpu... & im using a normal wallpaper 4m HTC hub not live wallpapers... but it looks gr8 in my view...
p.s:Live Wallpapers drinks a little more juice out of your battery according to their hunger....

Damn I must be a noob... I read it all and understood... setcpu here I come

no qestions or replies in this thread here???? ... LOLZ>.... XD

I'm using mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.5 that haves the 384MB RAM patch and it is not power hungry at all! I've been using it for 22 hours of which the device was awake 2:40 mins and I still have 42% Battery! The programs I use for for power/memory management are Set CPU and Task Manager (this is the name of the program! In Market the little green robot with a red "X")

Using mattc's froyo 1.5. How do I even start up setCPU without having the application crash unexpectedly? It does this as soon as i press "ENABLE"

bro, if u dont use setcpu,as your are saying like 384mb ram enabled mattc1.5 or darkstone both is not power hungry batteryminder will show you a good 12 hrs left of standby.but it doesnot changes instantly.. after using setcpu and general profile to max 768000 it will show 22hrs after som time....if u r getting 22hrs its because setcpu... without that our SET got a very little lifespan maybe

I haven't limit the CPU to 768MHz! On the contrary! I've configured SetCPU to higher the frequency even on 50% load!

i saw windows gives more battery life than android... far more better.. dont know why :S

You know why? cause it's still in development and these builds are Beta.

Did you upgrade from 1.4? That can cause some app issues. It is best to remove setCPU and reinstall it (you won't have to pay for it again).

in ur pic attachments, all the settings are at 50 priority..
how does this "priority" work in android compared to windows os? im not sure how it works in setcpu since the priority is allocated to settings and not process threads unlike in windows OS..

thats good batt life man!

Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

I've also set my max cpu setting to 768 (except when plugged in to usb/power) and it's made a huge difference to the battery drain with no real noticeable lag.
Mattc 1.5 here - also used it on 1.3a and 1.4.
SetCPU is amazing, glad I bought the paid version instead of downloading the freebie as the author definitely deserves it imo

Did eveything u said bro. But still get barely 7 hours. Intact clicked it down to 384hz max. Still poor life. Dunno. Love my phone but the battery life is really killing the experience.

What is the best setting in SetCPU for Build shubCRAFT 1.5★CM6 Final

What are your guys experience with the android build shubCRAFT 1.5★CM6 Final?
Do you guys use SetCPU with this build, what are your setting to make battery last longer and still have stability, and performance?
Any advices?
I find setting max in main window to about 800 and conservative saves battery
Screen off to max 300ish (like to save a bit extra to prevent sod
Battery less than 30 max 400
Also keep everything turned off via power control widget, and keep brightness on low not auto light sensor is still buggy I think,
Also give full charge cycle in WM this will caliberate the battery so android knows where 100% is this will ensure android fills the battery up and prevent over charge, so charge with phone off until led is green I get1-2% in standby and use about 10% whilst playing around with various apps for an hour

For sure set a profile with screen off I set this at 245/245 performance.
More so take a look at this post from the droid forum It explains how setcpu works and how all the other settings effect it.

Edit/ ah unless its a WM app aswell. Once android is running the kernel is closed so nothing will make any difference really in android I font think, as far as I know android just used a few drivers

The use of task killers with android are bad.
I bumped the post that mvp77 made. He has some very interesting articles that everyone should read. Linux does not work like windows.
I am currently using auto killer which sets kill ratio's at the start of android.
Android then manages those task.

what setting would you suggest for autokiller i have it installed and set to moderate preset but it doesnt seem to do anything. i know your not meant to see it working but i dunno just doesnt seem to do anything. is there like a website i can visit that gives more information to its features?
I have mine set on strict. To be honest u wont see anything till you either 1 set it high enough or 2 memory gets low.
Mvp77 posted a bunch of info on this subject. It's currently posted on page on of this section. Also I Googled and found the same info. So far so good for me!
There are threads in the reference sticky section regarding setcpu settings and windows mobile registry tweaks. I get great battery life on shubcraft's builds after using these settings.
setcpu skips 998
My apologies to the community but I have been searching for hours to find a post I saw about how setcpu was skipping from 883200 to 1036800. I can't get to 998 and was hoping to see replies to that post with a solution. I've searched the forums and google. Any help appreciated. I've alread done autodetect and this is what it gave me.
Using tmous w/energy maxsense and shubcraft 1.5 final.

You probably have a misbehaving app, have you installed our changed anything recently?
Try a task manager or similar to see what is running etc and to kill and eliminate apps.

+1 on the whole typing using complete words point.. spectacularly lazy. and Laziness doesn't inspire help..
But yes - probably a dodgy app.. or a weak signal (local transmitter problem).. can kill your phone as quick as anything else!
I use a combination of Autokiller (never kill tasks yourself), SetCPU and Watchdog lite (Email app on X10's is a major culprit and goes over 80% CPU usage occasionally) to manage battery life. I easily get 2 days with decent amount of surfing and calling. Although if I used Juicedefender I'd get even better battery life but I like to keep 3G on since I get quite a bit of MMS.
I had a simar problem today. My battery was on 74%, the fone randomly froze. I turned off the fone from the power button turned it back on and i was down to something like 56% weird

You can use juicedefender to regulate when to turn on/off 3G/Wifi. For example when screen shuts off or when you turn on the screen, maybe keep it turned off below a certain percentage of battery, etc.
As for SetCPU, I use fairly liberal settings:
Scaling is always on demand and priority is always 50.
Charge AC/Full --> 998 / 245
Charge USB/Full --> 998 / 245
Screen OFf --> 384 / 245
Battery < 10% --> 245 / 245
To save even more battery you can set your profiles to conservative, etc.
I had the same issue when I started using desktop visualizer. Battery went from 3 days to one.

hello everyone
first of all i would like to apologize from all of you for typing that way. the reason for typing like that is my x10 is lagging a lot so i have to type like that so i could type a bit fast. :/
anyways... other problem im having is my x10 isnt charging properly. i plugged my x10 for charging at like 2 am.. and took off at 2 pm after i cam back from school! :s
and the battery was still at 75%
and it was warm (the phone)
i knw i shldnt hav over charged but still...
and all the battery was drained by 8 pm.
i really need your help people..
im worried.. why is this happening?
try deleting all applications and test your phone without using any 3g and wifi to chk if its a manufacturing fault. if it runs around two days without any 3g and wifi and applications your phone is good. and then just be carefull in installing applications. this is the best way to check it.

Battery optimizing [MIUI]

Oct 26 2011
ROM: MIUI 1.10.21
Kernal: [email protected] (oct 25th 2011)
902max 122min DARKSIDE
radio stock panache
been connected to wifi this whole time
and I got 84% @ 3 hours 46min. I expected 5hrs.
Im tryin to find out what the hell is draining my battery:
Watchdog app? yahoo messenger? rogue apps? (check out pics below!)
Does anybody have a suggestion for looking for the rogue apps besides watchdog lite? or is that the best one.
Any suggestion for tweaking settings? Ive included pics of whats running

1. looks normal, cell standby is usually the highest on MIUI. how long was your display on?
2. your OC settings look a little high for everyday use. I would try to OC lower and use the superbad governor. my settings are 1017/122 superbad and everything runs smoothly
3. looks like messaging and settings are taking up some memory, try killing those with the task killer. hold down the home button and a window will pop up, on the bottom there is "task killer"
4. looks normal with your OC settings
*edit* Battery Calibration app from the market also works really well, give it a shot. charge your phone til its 100%, and leave it plugged into the charger. run the app, calibrate your battery, then unplug and youre done
Thanks! Ill definitely make those adjustments and post results in a similar time frame. I didnt know I had a built in task killer ... dam i just freed 142MB! woohoo!
oh and what the heck is this? (in pic)

wow lol Ive never seen that before probably just give it a few days for your battery to even things out and settle in. it said your battery was in use for 3 seconds so just wait
LOL battery consumed 15% in half the time than previous. I DL'd battery calibrator, lowered setcpu to 1.2ghz w/onDemand. I wonder what is involved with android systems.

if you tap on "Android System" itll show a list of all the apps and things associated, from there you can pinpoint on what is using up your battery and just kill that app. I also noticed that youre on MIUI and you have a screenshot app...you know that function is already built into MIUI, just hold volume down then tap the menu button. theres a list of all kinds of neat little button quirks in the OP of the thread

Dammit man definitely "beats" makin funnny shakin gestures ... thanks again.
Well, here is my 2 cents.
Keep i'm mind that I had pandora running continuously for almost 5 hours. I unplugged my phone at 11 am. It has been running for almost 13.hours..
I have noticed that if my phone is hooked to a wifi signal, the battery last easy 3 times more.
3 days ago I had it running for 14.hours and it was still at 74%, of course, very little use, since I was a working all day
Second image you can see that I have been keeping the screen on for 3 hours

Thanks guys ...
So today I jus setcpu!
Here is the adjustment and activities I did today in regards to battery usage:
Set CPU @ 1.1ghz smartass (same performance)
unplugged for 5hrs
4hrs using data: yahoo messenger, internet browse, gtalk
used ubermusic in traffic (bumpin "ni**as in paris" on repeat LOL)
1hr on wifi (unless wifi was automatically turned on at the mall)
no calls (TY columbus day)
Tried to take a pic at 85% to keep it consistant as the first pic. LOL
Ill be traveling this weekend so im gonna put the GPS to work.
I used GPS the other day @ 1.6ghz and the latency was so minimal
with reroutes being spoken after maybe 200-500 ft of a turn not taken.

O use MIUI.us .
I'm going to post you the progress during the day today.
I'm unplugged the phone at 9 am, right now is 11:22pm and I still have 61%
As you can see I have been all day hooked to a wifi. If i'm not in a wifi, I would be at 20% I think
Btw, my display says 48 min , so you can see that I didn't use my phone that much, I have been.working all day
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
As general information, what I did was:
Wipe everything
Install ROM
Factory reset
Install my basic apps
Drain the battery to zero
Charge it all the way to 100%
Calibrate it with the app on the market
let the battery die again til zero
Charge it again til 100%
After the second day, it was going.better
Fyi, if I am constantly on non wifi networks, it goes down faster.
And i'm using panache radio
Hope it works for you

The person before you recommended that tactic ... and I have done so to help with the result ive got.
Here is my next hurdle:
CELL STANDBY
I believe CM7 or RoyalGinger had an option to manipulate cell standby while on wifi networks. Since im not using MIUI ill be researching this to get rid of this issue.
Thanks to the replies and xda this is the longest ive had my phone unplugged @
21 hrs (i had to plug my phone via usb for 2min to get something from my SD card cause I was impatient to figure out how to send it wirelessly, so no screenshot)

to help with the Cell Standby, while connected to wifi, set your mobile network to 2G/GSM only in the mobile network settings. prevents your phone from trying to connect to 3G/4G which saves battery as well

no problem bro. yep, running TDJ's Darkside Runny v1.5.1 and its the best Sense build Ive ever flashed. along with the blissmod and quicklaunch widget, its just bad ass. I was a religious MIUI user, but this rom just drew me in. of course the battery life is shorter on Sense builds due to the UI and all the eye candy and bloat, but after 19+ hours average on a full charge, Im not complaining one bit
Do you get commission selling sense roms ? LOL dammit MAN!
i would switch up if i could get 19hrs on sense 3.5. I like its UI interaction (ie text message has address and I can highlight and go straight to navigation)
My issue aside from battery is the widgets not loading correctly on sense 3.5. Do you get that?
With all that eye candy, bloat, etc What do you run your processor at? is it still 1012max superbad?

nah, never had any problems with the widgets. everything works for me as it should. yeah Im still running 1017/122 superbad on Sense as well, no problems at all and everything is still smooth. I dont play games on my phaone, so I mainly browse the net, text, call, listen to music, etc...sync only when needed and OC when needed also.

In the next days I will try the new battery that I bought, it.us a 1700 capacity.
Let's see how it goes . And tomorrow I will usable the wifi , you are going to see the big difference

What sort of battery drain do you currently get on standby? Can you tell me the reading in ma from CurrentWidget? If it's 3-5 ma with mobile network/wifi/bluetooth etc on and 2ma in airplane mode then you're fine, but if it's higher it can definitely be improved.
If you don't plan to use mobile internet connection then disable 3G and turn 2G mode only. Turn off as many widgets as you only can, disable Location Service and auto sync. Install apps on phone memory only.
Also Dorimanx kernel is a hell of battery drainer, use another one like stable Tytungs etc.
Use dynamic/powersave CPU governors or use CPU speed profile apps like SetCPU and make several profiles for it.
This is only a few of tips we can give here.

Well the apps I use to reduce my battery drain are JuiceDefender and SetCPU. Set the profiles to be 245-576 Mhz when screen is off (smartassv2) and whatever else you like when screen is on. I never had any overheating problem with Tytung's kernel though. It was the most stable and just as fast as Dorimanx's kernel IMO. Still, using ICS now so I can't really judge about the newest versions of each of them.

I think his kernel is the same in battery drain over any of them. Ive tried them all. If anything, seader_r9 was the best and it was only a small improvement. My battery life is pretty short, but im a HEAVY user. Constant web browsing, constant text messaging contant GPS. And it lasts for the majority of the day. Now i have an .sh script which helps tweak the smartassV2 settings. I get about 110-200ma drain when doing simple web browsing or replying to a text.
One must also keep in mind that the ROM has a major part in battery drain as well. I heard from many users on here that MIUI has the best battery life. All in all i think any kernel you choose will have reletively (i spelled that wrong -.- its still early ) the same battery drain. It really comes down to the amount of use your phone has. But as stated before, turning off data greatly saves the battery as does turning down the screen brightness, fyi, automatic brightness sucks battery life too. Plus android does a horrible job polling the light sensor -.- it shouldnt take an average of 3 seconds to get the changed light value..
Theres not much 'tweaking' you can do to give you like an hour extra of battery life. Our batteries are only 1350mah batteries and thats really small for such a huge screen. My Touch Pro 2 has a 1500 and a much smaller screen. There are a lot of good aftermarket batteries on ebay that you could get which would extend your running time.
thanks guys, im gonna give a shot to tytung kernel, but im also gonna take a look to the aftermarket baterys
Typhoon rom support undervolt so if your phone is gettin' hot I suggest you to tweak the voltages as explained to original thread first page, it makes a big difference compared to stock.

Good advice here. There's a lot you can do (as already advised) but always some performance tradeoffs. The standard HD2 battery is only 1230 mA... not 1350. Smartassv2 in DM's kernels is excellent for performance and settles down nicely in standby - but it will pull-on your battery when used. There's no substitute for keeping a few extra charged batteries around (when you need them), along with AC & DC chargers + cable, in a small carrying case.

You don't need to use dorimanx's latest kernels, his stable kernels in fact do a better job at not overheating and have only 2ma drain on standby. I know 5.9, 6.3, 6.4d, and 6.9A (ics hwa) give a great battery life.

Wow, in standby im on average around 7-3mA with the occational spikes when receiving texts or messages over wifi. And when on data its about the same, just not as often in the 3ma range.

Which apps are running in the background? People constantly say that task killers make no difference yet whenever I've opened something and haven't killed it I get a higher battery drain than normal.
Also, use JuiceDefender and SetCPU to lower the drain.

Should i buy a new battery?

Hello. I just like to ask if I should buy a new battery because my battery is just like crazy. It drains really fast, Im using Ice Cream Apocalypse Rom and my battery percentage is 75% when I turn it off for a few minutes maybe like 5. Now it is in 71%. It was overcharged for like 3 times. And also when im using wifi or packet data it drains really fast!!! i think my battery use average is 10-15 hours only.

Nope. Just standby, no running apps. I always check task manager. that's why im thinking of buying a new battery. I have this phone for months now.
Go to settings>> applications>> running service
These apps are running in background
Close them
Or freeze all bloatware
It will help u
And use droid wall to restrict other apps to use internet hence decreasing battery consumption
