Hi, I'm new here and I have successfully installed Android 1.5 to my HTC Vogue with HaRET but I would like to have either FroYo or Eclair. How would I go about doing this?
I do not want to flash my rom quite yet. I want to have it dual booting WM6.1 and Android until I'm brave enough to flash it.

First, you need to delete all the android system that already installed, or you could make a backup of your andboot folder - just in case, maybe you want to go back to 1.5 without starting all over again.
Download any Eclair or Froyo build by the dev here in the forum, and place it together with your base file - some build may include these file in their package, then run Haret again.
The process is the same as 1.5 except with the newer files. You will not be able to "update" to a 2.x OS, you have to start from a clean slate, so be aware of that. Make note of all your programs so you know what to install again.
So would I just replace the ZImage file to a newer build or is there other files I require aside from the basefiles?
Eg. If I want Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS12] [7/26/10] version of FroYo do I just download the ZImage file or also the NBH file. From my knowledge, I think the NBH is for installing on NAND and ZImage for SD cards.
I didn't understand my own wording so here is what I mean. Do I need the ZImage or NBH or both?
you'll need a newer ZImage and his androidinstall.tar (or .tgz). You are correct in that the NBH is only for NAND while the ZImage is for SD Card installs.
Thanks a ton! Just downloading the files and I'm ready to test it out
I've tried SDCard load and NAND load for Droid
NAND is much faster and much more stable
Some people have reported issues when running off SDCard that disappear when flashed to NAND
Once you start using Froyo 2.2 and get it sync'ed with google - you won't want to go back to WinMo
Running Froyo RLS 12 @ 320x480 / 160DPI / 500mhz OC

did you ever get this to work, because I cannot.
I did get it to work and it runs pretty good off the SD card and I am just about to flash it to the NAND after reading the comment above yours from Does_It_Matter.
I used DZO's basefiles for installation.

Hello i need help! i Want to flash my HTC touch with Froyo 2.2 or Eclair 2.1.... right now i have daulbooting Android 1.5 and WM 6.1 useing harit....
Links please
link please for nand file n ZImage n process to installl both
Go look in the Vogue Android dev forum, everything is in there.
ok...actually I did go to htc cdma android forum. tried many different android files. can anyone please help me understand how to choose the right file in which the cdma 1x data voice and data would work.
so far all the packages I've tried, I've had 2 problems:
1. after the first normal outgoing/incoming call, the 2nd call will not make the phone ring though the caller can hear the ringback tone.
2. all packages I tried had gsm apn settings instead of a place where you configure the cdma 1x data account.
can someone explain what Im doing wrong? thanks so much.
Dear Forum,
All evo roms out there dont work on my HTC HD2, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!. It just gets stuck at "htc" screen for like literally, hours. (well, just 1.5 hrs). Am i doing anything wrong? Thanks again

Have you tried other non-sense build to see if they would work? What radio?
weird.. have you tried formating your card? and make sure u copy all the things that come with the download on there. which winMo rom u running? the radio i think it shouldnt matter. has to do with the sd card.. how much memory u have available?
Hated it anyway.. Always the wrong prefix before my numbers..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
so we're supposed to magically know what happened to ur phone without any information about it?
oKKKAAAYyy. abra cadabra poof! throw ur phone on the floor and it should be fixed.

actually the radio version does matter.. it has to be on at least 2.08 for android to run..
Hi Guys,
Kinda similar problem... Hopefully I can share more details.
Im using an Australian Telstra HD2 (T-mobile_leo) Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Oct.08 with radio 2.12.50.02
The droid build Im using is Mdeejay FroYo Z v.1.1|1.31.405.1|kernel: hastarin R7.5
Formatted, booted, installed some stuff, rebooted again and all seemed well.
But I use phone as a storage device (and have done it before with no issues) then tnings seem to go to poo hell.
OS gets slow and on restart, the launch stalls on the HTC screen and will not progress any further.
Really enjoy the android builds and this is the 2nd build that has done this on my phone.
Any ideas on what I can do to recover?
For the ones having problems on getting stuck on HTC boot image with mdeejay roms, try downloading a data.img from here http://www.multiupload.com/GZ1JUZBYJI and copy it in the /sdcard/android/
( inside android folder ). It should take around 2 minutes to boot after that.
Also try to use a 2.10 or 2.12 radio.
copied the file into the android folder (which was supiciously empty) and pulled the battery 10 min later.
Have I got the right folder or do I need to replace the 1GB .img in the root?
Make sure that inside that folder you have every file found in the .zip folder downloaded from any of the builds threads. ( there should be 10-11 folders+files)
You can either replace it or try and find a 1gb data.img file from here http://www.multiupload.com/BJ2FXF9IRM ( just to make sure ), maybe you already have the right file, but I dont know that
I tested both sizes 512Mb and 1 Gb and both worked ok.
Thanks for the help Viperd.
I bit the bullet this time and reformatted (just because I needed a phone and gps ) but I have grabbed the image files and a quick script to check the files on the card the next time this happens
This version is now discontinued. find the data2ext version or tmous version here

--- FIRST OF ALL, PLEASE READ POST 2 FOR UPDATED FAQ. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR ISSUES, MOST PROBABLY YOU WILL FIND THE ANSWER THERE WITHOUT NEEDING TO POST A NEW MESSAGE ---
I'm not a dev. I'm just a curious user that want to learn, fail, search, retry, fail again and then succeed also thanks to people here that helped me with tips and knowledge sharing
This is a personal build made for my self, based on DESIRE HD.
Is 90% stock, % battery indicator and some animations/icons.
It's fully DEODEXED so you can theme it as you want.
I tried also to keep most of the apps, wallpapers and other stuff in it.
But most important it uses DATA.IMG on SDCARD so you dont have to worry about storage limite on LEO512
Please note: this, as happenend whe using Android from SD, could cause data corruption and causes a little lag during app installation. There is nothing I can do to solve those two issues. You are warned!

INSTRUCTIONS
- You need at least MAGLDLR 1.10
- Download the Data size package you want
- Unzip it and copy all the content to your SD root respecting the folder structure. Insert the SD in the HD2
IF YOU NOT DO THIS BEFORE, YOUR INSTALLATION WILL FAIL
IF YOU ARE ON A 1024 LEO YOU CAN AVOID THIS.
- Download the RAFDROID HD package
- Unzip it on your computer, enter in MAGDLR bootloader, choose USB flasher, connect your HD2 to your computer and use INSTALL.EXE
- Wait the rebooting. Keep always the SD inside.
- First install takes up to 5 min
- Enjoy
- As all HD build, initially this will be slugghis and lagging, specially if you select to restore your google settings. The build will become fast after some hours and a couple of reboots.

WARNING 1) Data system changed between RafDroid HD1 and RafDroid HD2. Now you need a "config.txt" in the data2sd folder. I suggest to old 1.0 users to download the new packages here to be sure that all works.
WARNING 2) I assure compatibility only with 512 and 1024 data images. Using bigger images, specially more than 2gb, could cause issues (no boot, errors installing apps...)
WARNING 3) I suggest always to start with a fresh data.img. Anyway you can try too keep your old data.img but I cannot assure you that you will have no bugs. Important is to keep the "data2sd" folder with the config.txt inside.

If you need more space, you can replace the data.img with ones bigge but I NOT SUGGEST THIS. We have clues that data.img bigger than 2gb causes issues. So please, if you want to avoid bugs, stay with 1gb maximum that is plenty space for everything.

Anyway I would suggest to donate to Cotulla and DFT team and other devs.
BE ADVISED: THIS BUILD, CAUSE IT'S SIZE, WILL WORK ONLY WITH THIS METHOD OF DATA2SD. IT'S TOO BIG TO WORK WITHOUT IT. EXCEPT FOR 1024 LEO WHER IT *SHOULD*(MUST BE TESTED) WORK WITHOUT DATA.IMG
If you want DesireHD standard fonts, download this package and replace the entire /system/fonts content with the ones included, using droid explorer or adb, after first boot
http://www.multiupload.com/5EXLIPO3N4
If you want the stock look this is the stock framework-res.apk. i will not explain how to mess with it, google if you dont know. anyway be careful. messing with this file could cause loop reboots and you will have to reflash

FAQ - QUESTIONS and BUG FIXES
PLEASE READ

q) I'm having high battery drain
a) Try reboot. Try disabling gps in location. As you can see from the screenshot I have 4mA with WIFI active! Also be careful. If during google account setup you choose to backup/restore all your data, the sync process will be dramatic heavy because it has to reinstall all your apps. It could need a couple of hours to settle. Also high battery drain could be caused by SD. try another one.
q) It's really laggy!!!!
a) as all Desire HD builds this is BIG! This needs at least 10-15 minutes after boot to be usable. Then try to use it for 5-6 hours.. and do a couple of reboots.. you will see that the speed will improve. After 24 hours of use and 4-5 rebots this will be really fast.
q) I have no GPS or the fix is really slow
a) Firs fixt can take up to 5 minutes. just wait. If still not works, try to change the gps zone in the config.txt (read below)
q) I have low quadrant scores
a) yes, this is true. This is because data sync is enabled by default. You can try to disable it but this will give you more risks of data corruption.
q) Can I unmount the SD while in use or connect the phone as mass storage to my pc while in use
a) No. This will cause data corruption. Power down the pone and use an SD card reader to copy your files.
q) I have no SU permission!!!
a) Install z4root (google for it) and execute permaroot. Reboot.
q) It not boots
a) be sure that the ".config" file is in your SD on the root. and there is also the folder "data2sd" with "data.img" inside. If still no boot, try to reformat your SD card, copy the img again, and retry.
q) I have no data/3G/HSDPA
a) probably you have to set your apn manually. google it for tips on how to do and what settings are need for your carrier
q) How do I remove BOOTSOUND / How do I change bootanim
a) bootsound and bootanim are located in /system/etc/customer. Just delete android_audio.mp3 if you dont want sound
ABOUT THE CONFIG.TXT FILE
Click to collapse
You can change some parameters directly in the config.txt before booting:
Code:
data_sd=0
- 0, default, use nand userdata, THIS WILL CAUSE NO BOOT for 512 LEO
- 1, enable external data.img support (/sdcard/data2sd/data.img)
data_size=512
- size of data.img, only work when data.img support enabled and first install if you dont have a data.img.. it will create for you. No need to specify it if you already have a data.img in the data2sd folder
data_sync=1
- 0, fast, default, disable sync option when mount data.img MAY CAUSE DATA CORRUPTION. I SUGGEST TO NOT USE THIS
- 1, safe, enable sync option when mount data.img, use this if experiencing data corruption
lcd_density=240
- size of icons
gps_zone=europe
- country string for better gps fix. you can find your country code here [URL="http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@"]http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@[/URL]

about 2gb data, yes, you can. just replace the file. I will upload 2GB and 4GB for convenience, later as soon I have time
This build will be awesome when it runs correctly... Is it right, it uses for data the data.img on the sd card, when you release a new uodate we can safe our data and can make a update without loosing my apps ? This will be great news ?!
so will all my texts get saved to the sd card?
as on other NAND builds my phone can barely operate after a couple days use due to insufficient storage.
also, what determines whether I should get the 512MB or 1024MB data package?

Not true, atleast not for me. (the build i use in my sig)
Sinds NAND rmnet is as fast for me as ppp, same up and download speed.
In the time with sd card builds ppp was faster for me,now not (for me)

I am currently running Superram 1.5 and am trying to increase the "internal" storage of the phone. I have skewered the forums and I understand this involves increasing the Data.img size beyond the initial 256mb compaction. Using TopoResize I have resized my data.img to 1.9 GB, however, i still had access to only 256 MB. I reinstalled Superram 1.5 and tried again with a fresh data image and also failed.
Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
Is there an XML i am to edit or something so the system recognizes the change?
App2SD just isn't cuttin it.
Much thanks to anyone who can help.
Well once the data img is used I don't think you can simply just enlarge it, it has never worked for me that way.. The only solution I can think of, is for you to get a new data image, a bigger one than the one you currently use, and restart your rom with that data img. You can find lots of Build threads with blank data images in them, eg. JDMS/MDJ. If you want to back up stuff, use titanium backup from the market.
data image resizing
Firstly, that should read "scoured" lol -not skewered. And "compaction" should read capacity. Sorry, was trying out swype with XDA App.
Now, more impotently. When you say "restart your rom," you mean to just substitute one image file for another in windows and restart superRAM, correct?
I will not have to reinstall SuperRAM 1.5?
Also, since superram runs off the RAM of the device, will using a image file from a different build cause a problem?
Finally, has anyone out there increased there Image file in size via TopoResize and had success? Was it before the initial launch of your android build or after?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks all

I big to differ. It can be increased. I used to do that during my android SD days.
@OP, you haven't scoured "a lot" yet. Search for datai.img maker, it can resize and create data.img.

Issue resolved
Issue resolved.
In the interests of others who may encounter this problem, here is the solution.
Simply get titanium backup and back up all your apps and info, then find a 2GB image from another build and substituted the old image file (data.img) with the new image file (renaming in appropriately) and used titanium backup to restore mostly everything. Titanium backup does a very good job restoring, even Astrid tasks returned, yay.
I originally didn't what to attempt this because SuperRAM is a unique build in the way it runs but there seems to be no issue.
One thing did come up, however.
I attempted to use a 4GB image as a replacement at first and that did not work.
Something about it being too large.
I read someplace that android has a difficulty with image files larger then 2 GB, can someone confirm?
Resize
@Jose - I have tried using toporesize, It seems to increase the size of the data.img but only allow me to use the original 256MB. End result is ineffective.

Easy enough mistake to make, but toporesize is data.img maker. To OP (and for posterity's sake), I don't know if you tried it but if you tried making a new data.img using toporesize/data.img maker, you "should" have achieved about the same effect. Glad you got this solved though.
Hey Guys. How are you toady?
I come here with new problems! Probably this thread is solved but i got problem with Toporesize.
Anyway I solved why my Android crash all the time! Was the sd and now I installed few games but I will be glad to install Chainfire also but no way to go true because I do not have storage enough.
I try to use toposize to resize my data.img (inside i have many app and I did a backup) but I got this error, see pic.
If I make the fresh data.img no problem, but the Android do not turn on with "new" data.img, i looking just to resize mine without compromise it.
someone know how to do it?
Ok im new and nobody has written me back about this so i have to ask this way but i flashed to the energy rom and i want android on it, i dont know how to go from where im at to that as all the threads ive seen has said download this and that but i really dont kno how to get energy off to do that but when i hit the launch android button it says "CLRCAD.exe was not found on your storage card...proceeding to launch Haret anyway" ok then "Haret.exe was not found on your storage card..." so can any body help me get android???

Radio version 2.10.50.26
Firstly there are 2 ways of running Android, 1st via sd card and 2nd via NAND memory. The option you choose depends on whether or not you still want to use winmo. If so you need to use the sd card based Android builds. If you only want to use Android then you need to go the NAND based Android build approach.
As you mention running clrcad and haret I'm assuming you want to use the dual bot method, ie both winmo and Android. You will then need to device which Android build you want to try (from the Android SD dev forum) and carefully read the first few posts to see the dev's instructions, but in most cases you need to download and unzip the rom and copy the Android folder to the root of your sd card. In the NRG roms, clicking on the launch Android icon he includes in his build will run the clrcad and haret automatically and boot to Android.
thanx for your reply..thats the thing when i hit launch android it wont go...so when i copy the folder do i download everything even if it says its already on an if installed it might not work? thats where im lost
Try formatting the sd card completely so that there are no funnies on the card, copy the entire Android folder to the sd card root and you can ignore the warning about files that may not work etc.
ok ill give it a try
when you format your sd card will it erase the NRG rom and then you have to put it back on there?

Did you give it some time? I would ask the question in the thread for the actual rom you are using. Other users may have a solution for you.

Good, so you've formatted your sd card and copied the android build, clrcad and haret.exe files to the root....Tapping clrcad (to run) doesn't show any visible signs but its actually working in background, then tap haret...u should see haret loading up & a bunch of text briefly (depends d android build)...The htc screen u saw means d android build is working silently in d background so give it some time...check d android build's page for how long you should wait..(most tk abt 8-20mins, i use nand now so i'm not so sure).....if the above still doesn't work for you, then u should try using d various android/winmo dual-booting cab files out there...
P.S. Devs say its best u load up android within 3 secs of loading WinMo, so be as fast as u can...u could also try disabling htc sense to give a quicker loading time....If dat still doesn't work, then u might have to reflash an android-friendly WinMo ROM.
lol i dont think i gave it enough time..kinda impatient but i got it at the htc screen right now..im using the froyostone v4.0 build

Just go to sd development section, it should be on the 2nd page of that section. Try core evo v0.8 by sergio76 or evo carbon remix by motoman.
By the way, what sd card do you have? Model, make, size, class.
