[Q] Contacts - HTC Aria General

I've got a noob Q. How does one go about exporting contacts to their google account? When I select import/export in "people" I only get the option to export to sd card (which I use)or import from sim and sd card. I see my google addr as an option to import to but have never sync'd contacts to it. If someone could clarify this it might answer mine and others Q's!

the easiest way is to simply go into settings>accounts and sync>choose your gmail account>hit sync contacts.

Sync contacts with gmail account

Does any one have problem with sync contacts with gmail account?
I have contacts in my phone. How to synchronize them with gmail?
Mail is synchronizing ok, but contacts...
When i tryed new rom-s i must sync with my PC all time, but i want to back them in my phone from gmail. I's it possible?
TY
You first need to enable the contacts sync. -≥ Go to Settings - Data Synchronization - Google and put a checkmark on Contacts.
On your phone, if you go to contacts, you see on the right side of the contact's name the word phone(this means the contact is a phone contact) You have three types of contacts - phone, google and sim contacts. All of your contacts need to be google contacts, if you want to sync them with google. You can probably manually convert every single phone contact to google contact, but that would take a lot of time.
So to speed up things, you need to do this:
You need to transfer all your contacts to your computer, Outlook or such. Then delete all your contacts from the phone. From outlook you need to export all contacts to the .csv or .vcard file. Then go to Gmail and import all your contacts from .csv file. Connect your tattoo to the internet and again go to settings - data synchronization - Google, press menu and choose Sync now. It will then transfer all your contacts from gmail to your phone. Then all your contacts will become google contacts and you will be able to sync them with Gmail.
In the future, when you create a new contact on your phone, be sure to select google as type of the contact to be able to sync it with gmail.
But be very careful with this, make a backup of all your contacts before you do this.
Bye
My contact have letters: š, ć,.. and few more letters that show ? ? instead of š, ć when i'm export contacts from outlook.. I's there any other way to convert phone to google contacts? TY
I did a bit of research on this and there seems to be no other way to convert contacts from phone to google...i found this answer from htc on one of the forums:
HTC >>There is no default setting to always store a contact as google.
If you wish create a contact save it as google and create another one, if its set to google already then it does remember if not then you'll have to do this manually.
Unfortunately it is not possible to convert all contacts to google ones, it can only be done by re-adding each individual contact.

In phone or SIM?
Just make sure you enable the sync in Settings as noted above and enable background data; every contact should be then synced between server and phone (but I'm not sure about SIM contacts, probably not) when you go online with your phone.
Many of my contacts even have Serbian Cyrillic letters (абвгдђежзијклљ...) and everything works just fine, no matter if they were created in Google Contacts online (www.google.com/contacts) or in my phone.
However, I haven't try sync between phone and Outlook because I use Ubuntu and Google Contacts only
Dejan i have tried this...i created a phone contact and tried to sync it with google and it doesn't work for me....the contact needs to be a google contact. But for the ščćžđ letters, yes gmail supports them in contact names, sorry for misleading you.
I solve problem.
With program expcontacts export all people to sdcard in csv format.
Delete all contacts from phone.
Import csv file from sdcard to gmail contacts.
Sync contacts with gmail.
Great workaround Liderzre, skipping the whole outlook thing, for the people who don't use windows and outlook or for the people who don't want outlook to mess up letters čćžšđ in their contact names
Thanks for the great app. All in order now, but not syncing...oh well on to remedy another problem.

Sync contacts TO google

How in the hell do I get my phone contacts to sync to Google? I tried settings_accounts_Google sync but it only pulls my gmail contacts to my phone. I want to put my phone contacts to gmail. Backup assistant works fine, but some of the custom roms out don't use it. I can't find any info on this. HTC told me when I create contacts and choose Google instead of phone that they will sync. What about the 80 or so that backup assistant did upon activating my phone? And also, if I save future contacts as Google contacts and not phone contacts, does backup assist still back these up too?
In phone book hit menu and export contacts to sd card. This will give you a file that can be used to import your contacts on gmail.com
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
or just go to backup asst online.. vzw.com/backupassistant, and then export your contacts to a .csv file..which you can then import into google..doesnt take long.
In order to get the ones already saved in your phone to sync to google I think you're going to have to go with one of the options they said since I dont think there is a way to change them from phone contact to google contact.
However, when you add new contacts there is a drop down toward the top that you can change from phone to google so that after you save them it will sync automatically.
So if I import them to Google, it will sync. I get that. Now if I add new contacts as Google contacts does backup assist still back them up also?

[Q] Saving/Backing-Up Calender Dates

T-Mobile is send me a new phone; my current one keeps deleting my SD card. I'm saving all my stuff in preparation for the new phone. Is there a way to save Calendar dates so I can tramsfer them to my new phone? I noticed that the calendar is linked with the Gmail account I setup when I first. got my phone. I don't use Gmail, so I'm not familiar with it. I opened the Gmail app, but there was no calendar option. Is there a way that I can save/backup my calendar info so I can sync it to my new phone?
Also, contacts are saved to the SIM card (allowing me to simply import them to the new phones), right?

[Q] Contacts phone account

i would like to know how can i add contacts in phone account. I explain: When i import contacts from the sd card, i have to choose an account to store new contacts but i do not want Google or Motorola services account. The only way that i have found to import contact in phone account is using GOContactEx. Whit this app, it's possible to import in phone contact and add new contacts in phone account.
But what is the way to have phone account without Google, Motorola account or other contact app, only with blurContact?

[Q] Is there a way to import contacts from SIM with CM9?

I'm checking out options under my contacts and I don't see a "Import" option to import contacts...
My first android phone so I don't have it backed up on Google, is there a way to retrieve or must I type them all in manually?
thx
On stock rom so not sure if it's the same but it's Contacts to Display > Sim. Merge with Google. Apologies if not useful.
