So, I've cooked a custom rom for my phone, (xda zest if you were wondering) and would really like to cook custom icons in to match my theme.
I don't have a clue how to go about this and i was wondering if anyone here would be so kind as to teach me how?
I have searched by the way, and I did find a tutorial by bikeandestroyx but i failed to make sense of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
This should help ? http://www.techparaiso.com/windows-...om-icons-a-placing-order-for-windows-phone-os
Found it in sticky thread here in CC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564130
ooh, I've got the 60 tutorial thread bookmarked in chrome, how did i miss that?! ha.
Thanks very much, I'll give it a read through.
Np mate, another tip is to download a cab with custom icons from XDA then extract it with WinCe Cabmanager and give a look to the reg extracted.
Im closing the thread because solution was in sticky. (hope you understand )

Wouldn't there happen to have a nice tutorial on how to cook your own ROM?
I mean, the new cooks don't know what to do exactly...I'm thinking about making Vanilla 4.01 an even better ROM, with the new radio and etc...the problem is, I know NOTHING about cooking...
Anyone could gimme a Cooking for Dummies?
This could be a sticky thread if evryone contributes to create tutorials on cooking...
Thanks a lot everyone!
There is a sticky.... I don't know how usefull it is, but it has very much info and links to tutorials.

Hy Guys,
I am using my Touch Diamond since few months. Keep reading threads about changing the software to manila or smthg else. I am searching for weeks for a really good explanations how to change the software of my diamond, but really can't find smthg helpful.
Can maybe someone post me a link, where everything is explained step by step. What exactly I have to download, what I have to run on my phone, which files i need and so on...
I would really apreciate that!
Thank you!
Josef

Search is your friend.. Search before posting.. Check this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
But keep in mind, before you do any update, your phone must be Security unlocked.. Following the guide in the above link, you should be up and running quickly..
Wrong section and redundant thread.
Thread closed.
I wanted to take a first stab at doing some basic mods to a ROM and signing it as a zip for myself both to learn how to make a rom and to get the rom just the way I like it.
I wanted to take the IC3ROM v2.5 and make some minor changes for personal use. I removed/added some apps and then signed the zip correctly. One of the changes I wanted to make was to remove the DConfig app. I tried to install it onto my Hero, but got some error about "Unverified" and "DConfig app missing".
Is there some file I need to edit to tell it which apps are included/excluded in the ROM?
Thanks in advance.

FYI, I've already read the faqs and searched about 10 times. Seems like the forum here has become too assuming that no one is searching. I do searches before I post a new thread, which I don't do a lot.
FYI, I did find this post:

it seems somehow relevant, but I can't tell what specifically I have to do to remove the aforementioned error I'm getting.
I just flashed my hd2..with Kumars latest version...but I noticed the "swype" option in no longer available!! Any help or pointers !!?
install the cab. and dont post stupid threads here or you WILL get flamed. especially since this was your SECOND post. i would suggest you use the SEARCH BUTTON. ITS THERE FOR A REASON.
Why doesn't anyone read the stickies. I have the swype cab in my sticky.

It always help if you do a little research as far as what comes with the custom ROMs A lot of the time Cooks leave out certain things they don't like.

I was gonna post that, but you beat me to it
Search people, SEARCH!
Well, i found it!, sorry for not reading or searchig before. Installing the swype cab was very easy. Working perfect!
sorry, I am noob here and just got overwelmed with this programs and procedures.
It's probably ten times faster to search successfully for an answer than to post a question and wait for a reply. That and searching causes 0 embarrassment.
Hello,
i wondered wether i need to be a computer genius to cook my own rom. On all the roms you get tons of apps, and I want to make one with as good as no extra apps (just some basic ones like youtube and opera). I downloaded the ervius kitchen, but what do i need to start? Do i have to download a sort of 'master rom' in which you can disable things you dont want?
Thanks in advance,
Kapie
Im watching the youtube tutorial by lion75y, and i need the stock rom. I bought my device second handed, and i am not able to download it from the HTC homepage. Is the blackstone stock rom available somewhere else? I've searched around on the forums, but i couldnt find it...

To be honest mate there is plenty of guides or kitchens to help you. Try typing in "kitchen" or "cooking" into the search and see what threads appear
Also, this may be a good place to start
