I just wanted to share these really quick. Some sketches of the Droid X during rendering phase of my PSD project. Quite a story behind these images as Motorola was very tight lipped on the dimensions and features of the phone. The original information coming out was that the prototype of the phone had indeed implemented a front facing camera which never materialized into the production version. Thanks again to Gizmodo for helping me out in getting this design up on May 27th, a full 3 weeks before any official images were released.

Nice, the DX that Verizon brought out anyways was an unfinished product that got pushed out to quickly to help with demand of a smartphone, it would have been great to have a front-facing camera on VZ network.
Not to be a downer, but how many people really utilize a feature like that? I would think not many and that verizon's marketing dept. Banked people wouldn't care and look... its sold out!!!
Either way this phone is rock solid.

actually many people of the younger crowd are looking forward to the front-facing camera on VZ network because of its reliable 3G coverage area and also sad that it didnt launch with froyo on it like it was suppose to.
I will have to keep an eye on your work. Amazing! Thank you for providing the wallpaper.
very cool and i dont care to much for the front facing camera. this droid is packed full goodness and i love it. i dont care if i get 2.2 or not let them work out any new glitches then roll it out. we already run a hybrid mix of 2.2 on the x.
Related
Just read a article that someone posted in the xperia arc forums, and it has a chart with all US carrier pre-froyo phones and how long it took to update to froyo once it came out in may...
Aparrently, only like 7 of 41 pre froyo phones were updated o.o
Andof the samsung family tree, the intercept is the only one to get the update.
I wish I knew how to post links, cuz it was an interesting chart and It shows me we're not alone in this plight.
And, honestly, atleast we got a semi-official froyo build out...the x10 owners are stuck with eclair and a statement from sony erricson saying how they feel the custom 2.1 is on par or better than vanilla ui lol

Also, the Evo and Droid x had a waititng time of 41 days.........
The n1had a wait time of 6 days lol

This link has some info on it. Some guy says you can get it in the Sprint store. Until we get other confirmation though, I call BS. Then again I've also heard Tuesday may be OTA, which may corroborate the above statement. Either way, it is all complete rumor and no sources have proven to be reliable.

Wow sasung is just circle jerking. I wanna know what's so different in the vibrant 4g that it has froyo but the regular vibrant doesn't.
If I'm not mistaken, the only difference is the hspa+ radio and ffc right?
And nah you definitely won't be ale to get it from the sprint store lol and I doubt it'll happen this Tuesday. They're just hanging the carrot infront of our faces, but I don't cre to follow it anymore. If they decide to cut the string and give us the carrot, I'm happy, but now I'm just indifferent when I see it.

Oh wow, so HTC is actually listening to consumers? I didn't think companies did that anymore... Kudos HTC, very awesome.
HTC is just on fire these days huh? This is pretty awesome!
Just saw the Engadget article. This is why I love HTC over Motorola, Samsung, etc. They listen.
Lord only knows what the community will be able to do with a dual core unlocked device . Hopefully, sometime down the line, VZW will get one. My upgrade still isn't for another year anyway. So by then, I expect to see some pretty awesome stuff.
That is freaking awesome! I was thinking my next phone wouldn't be an HTC (which sucks cause I love my incredible) but its on now.

I wasn't going to buy another HTC phone after hearing about the EVO 3D but, this just changed my mind.

Would this mean that HTC phones would be able to be rooted easily or no root would be needed... I have no Dev skills that's why i ask..
Well you'll still need to root, but you can install new ROM's easily with an unlocked bootloader, and without a lot of painful work.
For us Incredible users, we've been pretty lucky to have the "unrevoked" program that automates the whole process- but a lot of other phones have to go through some pretty annoying and difficult steps in order to be able to flash ROM's.
I've also heard that Motorola has jumped on the unlocked bootloader bandwagon, after HTC announced they would be doing it.
All good news, big props to HTC for listening to customers and making the move.
Also another article if anyone is interested in reading more into the story:
http://www.softsailor.com/news/8094...ature-an-unlocked-bootloader-from-now-on.html
If HTC sticks to this policy and the carriers don't get all pissy with policies on rooted/rom'd phones on their network, I'll never buy another device unless it says HTC on it... Good move, HTC. The phones, after all, BELONG to us.
I love it.
That is fantastic news.
Well guys it has been fun I made the jump tongue 3vo and have to say it is an amazing device. I have been sceptical about everything worrying if the 3d was a gimmick or worth it. I compared both phones side by side and the colors were way better and looked sharper. You could tell it had some power under the hood as the phone easily handled everything i threw at it . I have enjoyed flashing custom roms and look toward doing the same as you all know one flash and your hooked. Today I will test its legs fully with the battery and gaming. See you on the other side.

Feed the trolls people.. I thought about going to the new evo, but I think there will be something better this christmas my sources say.
This photo was leaked online earlier today......
Not sure if it's real obviously.....
I believe that there were complaints about pocketability of the v2 but after seeing this photo I can't say I agree with their concern.
wow... is that the new Super AMOLED HD+++ ?
Looks like they they made the Note a bit smaller. Cost saving measures, no doubt.

Is the new Super Ultra Amoled 4K HD Plus. A friend of friend that has a friends who's friends with another friend who's cousin has a friend that is friends with someone which his friends father works at Samsung by taking out the trash.
You won't believe what you can find these days in Samsung's trash.
Also it has an octo-core SOC clocked at 4Ghz with the graphics performance of 3 580s in SLI and a new advance unannounced nuclear based battery that never runs out. Well that's what came to my end from all the above.
Is it confirmed to get ICS?

Typical.. As soon as I buy one a better one comes out, though I think Nokia may sue based on the radical new design...

Damn... 4Ghz? That's a deal killer for me... I won't settle for less than 4.5129Ghz....
Oh and I hear its camera is only 20MP.... :sigh:
When will Samsung learn??!!
That looks exactly like the i*hone 5, Apple released a statement that they're gonna sue.

No complaints, just a place to sing the praises of the awesomeness that is CM9.
I for one love CM9. Sure, there's some things that could be improved, but this rom is just amazing. I especially love that ICS is working on a phone that Samsung was just to lazy to work on. We get the benefits of Matias Duarte's amazing talent combined with the real-world-minded approach to porting of the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND FABULOUS CM9 developer team.
And perhaps the best thing: This is a work in progress, so that means regular updates with continued improvements.
What could be better?
So, to everyone involved, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also 1st !
It is not that Samsung was too lazy it was that it would require them to give up their proprietary BML partition or restructure it which if done by OTA would stand to great a risk of bricking the phone, especially one over a year and a half old.
Beta 0 is very fast and snappy. Thank you CM9 team.

Time to give this thread a bump.
Beta2 rocks. I look at some of the other threads about what the future of CM9 should be, and I can't help but thinking,"NOOOOO! DON'T MESS WITH IIIIITTTTT!"
I think I'm going to stick with Beta2 until I see some overwhelmingly compelling reason to update again.
Just sayin'.
