I don't live in an area with bad reception and apparently the X10 doesn't suffer from antennagate (sic), I haven't been able to reproduce this problem at all. Thats why I asked this question.
Makes me wonder if this problem has been there all along? However, the guy in the blog post does mention that the update to R2BA020 did resolve his problem... and others claim that it exits in R2BA020 also (see earlier posts), so I don't really know whats the truth value behind this claim.

Dude... isnt airplane mode supposed to turn off all radios off anyways?
Anyways, the reported issue seems to be more like a side effect of the cellular reception dropping... which in turn causes wifi to loose connection as well.

I am aware of that, however, i was creating the scenario or I have to wait for my network to drop...Which is rare....
Let me know how can i recreate this without Flight Mode.....

If you're using switchpro widgets you have the option to turn off network signal keeping wifi on (even GPS or Bluetooth) with the airplane mode.
Yup. Its back. WiFi only remains on when I'm in an area where I wouldn't need to be using WiFi anyway. Great.
I use WiFi (or used to, prior to this last update) at home where the reception is poor. I can just about get a GSM signal indoors, 3G is out of the question, and even then my phone will frequently drop its connection altogether. Before this last update it wasn't too much of a problem as the WiFi remained on regardless of the quality or presence of a mobile signal.
Now I'm back to the good old days of losing my WiFi every time my X10 hunts for a new cell.
for me the same as always! gsm connection drop and so wifi connection....damn SE!!!
Confirmed bug exists in BA023.
I am in an area with poor gsm coverage and when I loose gsm connection I also loose wifi connection. I have to wait until I get gsm connection again and disable-enable wifi to get wifi working. Note that my wifi access point is 2meters from my phone.
I hope this get solved soon.

What's the "Wifi bug"?
I've never had any problems with connecting to my wifi network. Then again, I almost never have less than 3 bars with my phone signal.
Yep its back.. I live in a poor signal area and it now keeps cutting out each time I lose gsm signal and each time it comes back.
Battery is a lot better as well and the unlock swipe seems more smoother.
One step forward one step back!

Not so long ago, when I connected to wifi, I got a message saying new firmware update.
It was around 40mb and it said it was an update for the camera.
I then downloaded and installed the frame rate.
I did not try pictures yet but tried some videos and I can comfortably say there is a good improvement!!!
I even tried the video camera in low light, even at 720p and there was NO FPS drop and it seemed a lot smoother than before and the colours were much better, it was not jerky but more smooth...
I would say there is a 20-30% performance increase at the minimum...
Did anyone else get this update? It was only some time last month this update appeared for me so I was wondering if anyone else got it since it has not yeat appeared in xda developers...
I have a normal HTC Desire HD, unlocked and this update came to me when I was on holiday in Egypt of all places!!
If I got this update surely others must have got the same.
Looking forward in hearing what other people have to say about the new update.
this is actually quite old.
generally, people say that camera is really a bit better now, but now we have some new problems like location getting stuck and random SMSs.
not yet in asia,zzzz
Probably fine for unrooted devices.

Yeh, that is unrooted devices having the issues. Hence HTC have pulled the most recent update. But hey not everyone knows about these issues if they haven't suffered the wrath of the 172.
So thats cool...

Can unrooted users not download it somewhere online and then just copy the update to their sd card and update that way?
I think there are ways and means, but I would wait for the official OTA update, as like i say HTC pulled it for a good reason. The notification issue was no the only one. There are threads about that. It affects all users as far as i can tell. I actually had to install a third party messenger (chomp) app to get full usage back to my phone.

Hmm, I hope the update hasn't affected my phone in anyway. The only strange thing it has been doing lately was giving me trouble connecting to wifi, does not want to obtain an ip address...
Apart from this I have not noticed any other problems...

Lol, you said that's ONE of the problems, meaning there are more!!!
Not long after updating the camera firmware, my wifi has been working like ****...
It works when it wants to, reception is poor and it does not like obtaining ip addresses anymore, even from my own home wifi network!!!
Anything I can do becides a flash/factory reset as I cannot be bothered to reinstall and setup everything unless I REALLY HAVE TO!!

You have my sympathies ....add your woes to the wifi problems after update thread. Im not a smartass self-appointed forum policeman so i wont say something like "this is a camera thread, dont hijack it" because i took part in the diversion too.

i did a radio/wimax/pri update combo from calkulins thread, and my 4G is excellent, its blowing, but my 3G sucks it doesnt even open google, it looks like no connection at all sometimes, can somebody pls help me, what could be my solution, since i wanna use MIUI rom but that will make me be without and internet connection then
I'm having that same issue, I think its with the Evo hardware 0004. Cause i did the update and it messed everything up. My GPS sucked too. I don't know if its his file that did that. Cause the last evo I had it worked just fine.
Its nothing to do with hw. I had the same issue with my 003 and nothing fixed it. I now have a 002.

I have been using Darky's rom for 2 weeks now, and am suddenly having issues with my data connection, and signal strength. The data signal drops from a H to an E randomly, and even on a H is getting 400kbs..
I love the rom, and want to keep using it as its soooo much better then the crap samsung put out.
Has anyone had similar issues, or know of ways for me to address this issue.....
I am on o2 UK if it helps
All advice is welcome!

I don't think he has time to read all the posts in all the other threads.

i have had darkys on for 1 week now getting serious battery drian , even put a defernt modem on and tried still the same problem , anyone else with this issue? making me think of jumping to a doc rom now .....even thou darkys rom speed etc etc is excellent
Fair enough comments, just posted in the main thread, so hopefully it doesn't get lost in the masses

For posting in the main thread I would but you need 10 posts before they'll let you and since I usually read and search for the answer to my problems I don't have that many. I had serious battery drain on darkly 9.2 but with 9.3 b1 and b3 its all good. Just the signal but im playing with it so will just have to test it again.

^^ yeah you need at least 10 posts in any other thread to be able to post on development thread.
Regarding OP issue its kinda weird Ive been running on v9.3 b3 since release and no trouble since then. did you try re-flashing / wiping?
ive had this problem last week, contants flickin from 3g to E to H made the phone pretty unuseable . wot i did was go in the secret codes on sgstools n switched the HSDPA/HSUPA off n reboot phone , then bk in sgstools change it again HSDPA ONLY then reboot , and once again bk into sgstools change it again to HSPA OFF reboot again , then finaly bk ito again and set to bk HSDPA/HSUPA on.
i admit not sure if this correct or not but after l messed around with settings it has seamed to sort it self out, did notice 1 thing battery seamed to last longer with HSPA off .
Im on orange uk , hope that helps
jay the nooby lol
Hey guys. I have noticed ever since i've gotten my Atrix that the wifi is always getting dropped when im inside a bedroom or some 20 ft away from the router. At first i thought it might have been just my router having issues but my laptop never experienced any wifi droppage like that though. The only times i don't get dropped signals are when im actually right infront of my router
I've read that sim-unlocked devices may experience this issue but mine isn't, or at least i don't think it is. I bought it from n AT&T store and im pretty sure they wouldn't sell an unlocked device, ever...
So my question is then, has anyone found a solution to this? I mean it's starting to become a real big hassle having to wait for my connection to come back up so i can continue using my phone
Even if you don't have a solution, please post here if you are also having the same issues because i'd like to know if its just my phone thats defective or not. My brother also bought an Atrix lest than a month ago and its having the same issue so i have no clue if either both our devices are defective or if its a general issues most users are having, cause if so, i think Atrix users should either get a refund or at least an update to fix this issue.
I have the same exact issue on my Bell atrix.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Same here as well.
No issues with previous devices or the 9700, Torch, Captivate or iPhone that others in the household use or my laptop come to that. Just the Atrix.
Mine is just rooted and currently running GreyBlur but not unlocked.
Just down loaded WiFi Analyzer from the Market to see if that can shed light on the issue.
make sure that you are not on a battary save or custom battary mode, cuz it's droping the wifi connection every time the phone goes to sleep mode.

O thx was trying to figure it out
Sent From My Gibgerblurred Phone
by default wifi goes to sleep as soon as the display goes off. you need to get into advanced wifi settings (wifi settings->menu->advanced) and change sleep policy to never
Now that is a useful bit of info
Thankyou !
Its not the sleep policy all tho that'll help the majority of ppl here. Mine drops during certain load points like getting updates from market or refreshing xda... Now to be honest after flashing the telstra rom it has disappeared.
Hopefully that little bit of code that capped our atrix was the culprit and an update will fix that bad boy
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Yeah I've always had my phone set to performance mode and had the wifi sleep policy always set to never. But still the problem persists
But I guess ill try out the 1.4.2 SBC since that sewed to remedy the problem for one user. Nit sure if it'll work for me though cause I'm w att and that SBF seems to be for Bell Atrixs.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Wifi & GPS signal on my phone just sucks, so I requested a new device from ATT warranty/exchange department. It should be here next week. I hoped we would get an update to address this yesterday, but I only know of 2-3 people receiving an update this week.

Yep, i have this problem as well. Haven't seen this on LG Optimus X2, also i've got SE Mini X10 for my mom a few days ago and it's behaves much better in this respect, does not drops wi-fi at all. My Atrix drops wi-fi every 10-15 minutes when in the far room, other android phones, nokia phones, laptops and netbooks does not drop connection in the same place, so it's certainly Atrix problem. Let's hope the fix will come

Am I missing something? I don't think the Bell Atrix has its SBF release. Are you thinking of the Telstra Atrix's SBF?
I found this app called Wifi fixer: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.wahtod.wififixer
Has anyone tried this?
I've noticed my Wifi dropping after 10-20 minutes of being used. It's very annoying. Bell Atrix with sim unlock and rooted

LOL, no. I wish that were the case cause if so, it wouldn't drop the connection when i have it on the table and just play around with it =/
This is why I returned my atrix. I was hoping one of the updates fixed it as I was considering picking the phone back up.

To be honest the updates did very little to fix anything... The HSPA+ speeds are dismal and you can barely tell any difference between your previous speeds and new speeds if you're in a 4G area but one thing for sure that the updates did do was, not surprisingly, unrooted us =]
And for us lucky ones with Atrices (same plurality as matrices?) that have wifi issues, Moto was kind enough to not fix this issues which was most likely software and not hardware, as they rolled out 2 OTA's in nice timely fashions!
