Samsung mesmerize

Sorry for posting this in epic side but they don't seem to have a mesmerize section yet. Yesterday I went in to give my MAC address to the tech guy here at school and I noticed he had an epic.. I noticed he didn't have 3g and I asked him and he told me he has trouble with getting 3g.. Like seriously what is wrong?? I went from the htc desire to this galaxy phone and now I'm down to 1x everywhere.. With the desire I had 3g everywhere but here on campus and with the mesmerize I'm lucky to ever get 3g and when I do it doesn't seem to make a difference.. Is there a setting or something that needs to be changed!?

My brother dropped his desire for the mesmerize too. We need to get you guys your own section. I doubt there will be a ton of development on it - but thats besides the point.
have you tried updating profile/prl? His mesmerize seems to get 3g everywhere that i do. Maybe slightly weaker signal, but I think that's carrier not manufacturer driven. I get better service with my Epic than my Hero did.

x2 Epic has been the best phone signal wise that i've owned. It blows away the signal I was getting on my Moment, TP2, and Hero.

Idk guys.. I'm in okc and it is stick on 1x.. I looked throughout the phone and on samsung abd there are no updates.. I took off phone cover wondering but that didn't help.. Give it a week and I think I may go back to desire if I still have problem :/ I do like the phone though

hate to say this then you didnt try much with the radios, my gf was standing next to me in alabama on a road trip and had 2 bars.. while my epic was just staring at me

My Epic used to get really poor 3g over at my guitarist's house, so try this. Go to Menu>Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Update PRL. Hopefully this will work for you too. Of course this requires doing this in the area where you get poor signal.

Well first I reset it by calling *228 and had no luck.. Called uscc and they come to figure out that the guy at uscc activated it wrong and the data or something was off.. Good to go now thanks for the try guys

Radio resets or something similar?

Hey guys,
So I have been running supernova 1.04 (dk28) rfs, since it was posted here on xda(didn't look up date) a month or so back. Everything has been great up to the standards we have been given so far, however recently it seems like my radio resets(chime noise, no signal sign, then signal again) a lot more often if it should at all. I thought that it might just be a jacked up cell site near my house, but its been happening at work too. The weird thing is that it doesn't seem to affect my data, voice, or wifi. I have yet to drop a call because of it. Just curious if I should worry about it being a hardware issue or just due to unfinished software/radio? Thx folks!

Might try reflashing the dk28 modem. I was having problems like that when I was running DK28. It eventually would completely crash so I ended up going back to 2.1. I could never get the FroYo leak to be completely smooth no matter what I tried.

Could this be a problem with local cell towers or is this purely phone/software issue?

I am running the same rom and sometimes I hear it make a sound and when I look the signal bars are replaced with a no signal icon, it usually goes back to normal quickly.
But it did this when stock as well so I figure it is a bug in the radio driver.

I can confirm this on 2.1 as well. Can't be too sure but I think it lasted until I got a replacent Epic. It could have been the tower and a complete coincidence but the old phone did it non stop. The new one has very rarely done it on both eclair and froyo. Anyone who experiences this should consider something as well. Did it start after a prl update because it came back after my update to 60674. Lost my 3g as well. Reverting to prl 60671 fixed it but this is NOT a guaranteed fix just worked for me.

I thought that I had seen a post before about prl updates, but I wasn't sure that the two were connected. How does on go about reverting prl updates, or maybe a link on how to? Thx for the feedback guys much appriceated, as my wife says I would be lost without my "other woman" lol.

Antenna prblms?

Just curiious im with wind in canada and wanted to know if theres anyone else experiencing a phone shut off for like 30 secs while it looks for signal... I have to drive around in airplane mode due to the fact that my phone will be constintly vibrating on and offf and on again. My phone is pretty much useless when,im on th e go.
anyone gone throygh this, and will flashing a bettr rom with a stronger signal and modem solve this??

wow, i frequently travel with my phone and i've never experienced that issue. i would try flashing a stable ROM (like Trigger, Bionix, Axura; the 2.2s since they're near perfect compared to the 2.2.1s and GB ROMs) and if that doesn't work, it might be a hardware issue.

really hope not. Gonna rty to flash trigger right now!! Hopefully it solves the issues!

I was just thinking on this issue and here's something I should've asked earlier:
How old is the SIM that you're using? If you are having trouble gaining signal with the phone, maybe your SIM could be old or damaged. It's a long shot, but it's something to be considered (I think). I mean, if you had no troubles finding the signal, then maybe the cut on/shut off problem will stop.

Wifi Dropping =[

Hey guys. I have noticed ever since i've gotten my Atrix that the wifi is always getting dropped when im inside a bedroom or some 20 ft away from the router. At first i thought it might have been just my router having issues but my laptop never experienced any wifi droppage like that though. The only times i don't get dropped signals are when im actually right infront of my router
I've read that sim-unlocked devices may experience this issue but mine isn't, or at least i don't think it is. I bought it from n AT&T store and im pretty sure they wouldn't sell an unlocked device, ever...
So my question is then, has anyone found a solution to this? I mean it's starting to become a real big hassle having to wait for my connection to come back up so i can continue using my phone
Even if you don't have a solution, please post here if you are also having the same issues because i'd like to know if its just my phone thats defective or not. My brother also bought an Atrix lest than a month ago and its having the same issue so i have no clue if either both our devices are defective or if its a general issues most users are having, cause if so, i think Atrix users should either get a refund or at least an update to fix this issue.

Same here as well.
No issues with previous devices or the 9700, Torch, Captivate or iPhone that others in the household use or my laptop come to that. Just the Atrix.
Mine is just rooted and currently running GreyBlur but not unlocked.
Just down loaded WiFi Analyzer from the Market to see if that can shed light on the issue.

make sure that you are not on a battary save or custom battary mode, cuz it's droping the wifi connection every time the phone goes to sleep mode.

by default wifi goes to sleep as soon as the display goes off. you need to get into advanced wifi settings (wifi settings->menu->advanced) and change sleep policy to never

Its not the sleep policy all tho that'll help the majority of ppl here. Mine drops during certain load points like getting updates from market or refreshing xda... Now to be honest after flashing the telstra rom it has disappeared.
Hopefully that little bit of code that capped our atrix was the culprit and an update will fix that bad boy

Yeah I've always had my phone set to performance mode and had the wifi sleep policy always set to never. But still the problem persists
But I guess ill try out the 1.4.2 SBC since that sewed to remedy the problem for one user. Nit sure if it'll work for me though cause I'm w att and that SBF seems to be for Bell Atrixs.

Wifi & GPS signal on my phone just sucks, so I requested a new device from ATT warranty/exchange department. It should be here next week. I hoped we would get an update to address this yesterday, but I only know of 2-3 people receiving an update this week.

By the way DO NOT FLASH THE BELL SBF ON AN ATT DEVICE OR YOU WILL BRICK FOR SURE!

I really hope you att guys can get hspa unlocked similar to the telstra sbf. It has completely changed my phone.

Yep, i have this problem as well. Haven't seen this on LG Optimus X2, also i've got SE Mini X10 for my mom a few days ago and it's behaves much better in this respect, does not drops wi-fi at all. My Atrix drops wi-fi every 10-15 minutes when in the far room, other android phones, nokia phones, laptops and netbooks does not drop connection in the same place, so it's certainly Atrix problem. Let's hope the fix will come

Am I missing something? I don't think the Bell Atrix has its SBF release. Are you thinking of the Telstra Atrix's SBF?

LOL, no. I wish that were the case cause if so, it wouldn't drop the connection when i have it on the table and just play around with it =/

This is why I returned my atrix. I was hoping one of the updates fixed it as I was considering picking the phone back up.

To be honest the updates did very little to fix anything... The HSPA+ speeds are dismal and you can barely tell any difference between your previous speeds and new speeds if you're in a 4G area but one thing for sure that the updates did do was, not surprisingly, unrooted us =]
And for us lucky ones with Atrices (same plurality as matrices?) that have wifi issues, Moto was kind enough to not fix this issues which was most likely software and not hardware, as they rolled out 2 OTA's in nice timely fashions!

SMS errors

does anyone get SMS errors (like 107, 97, or any others)? Or "Radio interface resource shortage" errors?
I've been getting these for a week now since I got a refurbished phone. Called Sprint a half hour ago, and they reset something on their end that was supposed to help, but I just got an SMS error again, so apparently it didn't fix it. It's certainly not due to a lack of service, as I have full service. Profile and PRL are all updated. I haven't updated the android version yet due to the reports of bugs, and it not being rootable.
Any ideas? I can call and complain to Sprint again, and since this is my third Shift, I can get any other device, but I'd really rather not...I like the Shift lol

mine seems that it drops data when a text is going, and then takes a very long time to reestablish the data connection, if it does at all

When I had stock 2.2 I was getting the same issues... I think its a sense thing... I am on nightly #124 now and I have absolutely no issues save for navigation. Then again ever since I went with AOSP over sense I've had no issues. If you want to stick with sense. Maybe try the RUU 2.2 or try the rooted GB update... unsure though

It's not sense, I know that for certain. The first two devices didn't have any service problems other than the occasional error popping up when I literally had no service while roaming

Maybe its just the one u have. Maybe like a bug or error. Try using the RUU. Maybe give it a fresh system. I've used the RUU and it doesn't have any issues. I'm just stabbing in the dark here.

tried that, twice. I rooted this one twice, put custom ROM's on, RUU'd a couple times, didn't fix it. I think if anything there's a problem with the antennas or the software controlling the interaction of the antennas. I'm getting another one on Tuesday, so hopefully that'll work better

Just shot in the dark maybe try flashing the old radio.

I haven't had my new phone in low signal areas yet, so I'm not sure. I know my Mom's shift gets the errors quite frequently when she's at home, where signal is very weak. But I rarely got them even there. I might be out there sometime in the next few days, so I'll have to check it out.
