Okay so i loaded up Tazz's CM6 Froyo V3 only to find my A2SD wouldnt work on it. Never having used Nandroid RESTORE before i chose a Evil Eris 2.0.1 backup i had. restored. And i'm stuck in a boot loop.
So i battery pull. And flash the 2.0.1 like i normally would any other ROM. well im still stuck in a boot loop...... can anyone help me????
I rooted a friends eris today and flashed senseable and got stuck in a boot loop. It was a refurb with the 1.49 bootloader so I decided to put the engineered bootloader (1.49.2000 or whatever it is) on it then I installed the original root rom via fastboot and it booted up normally. Could be different circumstances though.

Shouldn't matter. A restore wipes everything and puts the phone exactly as it was when you did the backup. Worth a shot though

Maybe try downloading a rom you haven't tried before. Could be a corrupted restore file.

ok and youve tried using all of your nands to restore correct?
and the sdcard isn't still the issue correct?
i was stuck in a bootloop for 13 hours thinking i bricked until i swapped in an old sdcard from an old phone that was formatted to full fat 32(that i preloaded with a few roms for ease of use), only then could i do anything from recovery. also the old a2sd method doesn't work in froyo im sure youve noticed that by now.
did you do a wipe of the ext partition? i had a problem with xtrROM 3.1 running boot loops because i didnt wipe the ext partition. once i did, everything was fine!

only thing that i know of that will help that situation, for future usage though you might want to invest in a second sdcard, one for old Eclair and one for FroYo
Same thing happens to me I was stuck with plain Jane v1 for a while and couldn't use any other rom because bootloop but then flashed kaosfroyo then everything went back to normal.

ok, I have had both the two versions of 2.2 on my phone and I love froyo but in both cases I can not tap on a photo and share it through email. I found a thread with another gmail.apk and I adb pushed it and cleared the program but nothing seems to work. I must have my gmail working. So does anyone know how to fix it or hot to get 2.1 back?

Nandroid Backups are not always helpful. I had done a complete Nandroid backup of my 2.1 before I installed 2.2.. and when I wanted to go back.. I wiped 2.2 first and then tried to load from the nandroid backup. the backup worked.. but it was extremely buggy.. kept rebooting and freezing all the time.
Fortunately, the latest 2.2 that came out a couple of days ago worked well for me.

The only reason I went back to 2.1 is because both of the 2.2's i loaded would not let me send pictures through email. I loaded different Gmail.apk's and nothing would fix the problem, I loved 2.2 but cant live with out a working Gmail.apk
ok, im confused....i just sbfed to get ready for this rom and once it finally booted back up i still had my old wallpaper on it, still running launcherpro and i get the message saying that dx overclocker was going to app ly the overclock in 90 seconds and so on. it did have the stock status bar and so on. but what i did right away i just did a factory reset and wiped cache in the recovery screen and now i seem to be back to factory..i just checked and dont have root..is this normal operation for sbf?
yeah, the sbf takes you back to factory stock, no root. it is just like it's fresh from motorola's oven

This is the file I used, VRZ_MB810_2.3.15_1FF_01.sbf. It came from rootz wiki in a folder called the gift2. Is it the same thing after I wiped the data and cache or do I need to figure out how to get a full sbf?

that is the full sbf. after you've successfully sbf'd, you have to boot into recovery and do a wipe data and cache. that will complete the process of returning it to stock.

Ok all is normal then! Thanks guys
Thanks for taking the time out to do that. I highly suggest that anyone who is having weird problems like slide reboot, battery manager FCs and whatever weird stuff some people have reported to SBF. I know it is a huge pain in the butt. It may help with some of those weird bugs that some users have and if you do want to track down the slide to unlock problem it will help with that too. The slide reboot problem has been something found in the stock ROM and other custom ROMs so it is not unique to this ROM. If we all work together maybe we can find what is causing it.
If you anyone would like to test what could be the final build of 2.0.1 ROM then please join us on IRC... http://webchat.freenode.net/ #teamdefuse & #fissiontest
Thanks!

i dont use it but i keep it as a backup incase i want some honeycomb delight
I am in a really bad spot, my Shift is stuck in a boot loop.
Before this happened, I booted into recovery, made a new backup, and then booted back up, mounted the sd card, and copied a previous backup into the folder. Rebooted into recovery and restored the backup from a couple weeks ago that I just copied over.
Now the phone wont boot, I get a buzz and the white HTC screen, then black, then back to the starting buzz again and the white HTC screen again, then back to recovery.
I've searched through this forum, but I didn't see anything that sounded like a similar problem. What could have happened?
I would just RUU back to factory and re-root, but I can't get the phone booted to a high enough state for the RUU to work.
Any ideas? I really need to get this figured out before work tomorrow.
I have tried flashing the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery, that didn't seem to help
I was on 2.5.1.8 and now CWM is 3.0.1.4
I tried reflashing the engineering hboot, that didn't work either
I can't get a logcat
I've also tried reflashing the original hboot, I see the switch to S-OFF, but that doesn't change the bootloop
Have I bricked my phone?!!
How could restoring a nandroid do that?!!
I was finally able to run the RUU using fastboot, I'll update once it completes
Edit: Ok, so using Fastboot and running the RUU I was able to get back to a working bootable state.
This time I'm going to try out the guide from the CM wiki http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Evo_Shift_4G:_Full_Update_Guide

Nope, I would get put into recovery on every boot attempt, and couldn't get past it.
Also, I think there are some errors in the steps over on the CM wiki, so I don't recommend anyone try that process until it gets corrected.

Tried that multiple times, always got kicked back to recovery. Even tried wiping each partition individually. Had to RUU to factory then start over, thankfully I had just finished a complete Titanium Backup of my system, so everything was waiting for me on my sd card.

Yeah I'm not sure you know what recovery is....recovery is clockwork 3.0.1.4 which clears data cache makes backups and flashes roms themes mods tweaks....bootloader is the white screen that shows s-off and if you use the volume keys and power button you could have booted into recovery and wiped your data cache and dalvik cache than fresh flash instead of unrooting

right now neither, because I've just finished up re-rooting after RUU
I was picking reboot system, and it would go through the start of a boot cycle, but then die prior to the 4G boot animation starting and then start back over but kick me back into recovery.

Even if you wiped everything in your recovery, you would have mounted the sd card through recovery, loaded the rom on there, and then flashed it. No need to restore a backup. You do not have to have a rom on there to be able to access the sd card.
